Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

DS likes stroking faces Grin Made DH's day when DS did it to him last night.

He's generally got an eye on DD, she now smothers him with kisses regularly. It's the loveliest thing.

Kellymom says the clicking is a latching on issue where the seal isn't right, but either way, moving DS and my boob seems to solve it. I've tried offering formula just now, DS just lay there beaming at me not even attempting to suck Hmm

Something else I realised after you mentioning iron; my tea consumption has been through the roof the last week or so. D'Oh, to quote Homer Simpson!

Getting a bit frazzled with the 2,4,6 & 8am wakings now! I don't know if there's anything we can do or if it's just a phase and she'll go back to sleeping 6-7 hours again soon.

Though it might have been July 4th fireworks that woke her at 2 as I heard them when I was feeding her. Who sets fireworks off at that time of night??

She makes up for it by being cute though Grin.

marshmallowpies · 05/07/2012 17:52

10 weeks and I have a 12lb 2oz girl who looks bigger than some of her NCT chums who were born nearly a month before her!

We are still having very chilled night times with only 1 feed (and I have to wake her to do it!) - I feel I'm very lucky - but quite a grumpy girl today.

I took her to the breastfeeding cafe but she refused to feed (never happened before!) which the midwife was very surprised about. Quite happy playing & interacting with other babies, just didn't want her grub!

HollyPockett · 05/07/2012 17:57

Fliss the midwife told me that caffeine hampers iron tablet effect but orange juice helps :). It also helped to stop me getting so bunged up Blush

Frankie just had a massive melt down while we were out. Was in way home and all bloody he'll broke loose! She's also refusing my right boob but will take the left! Strange girl.

She's also right in the middle of wonder week. She's found her hands and as well as shoving them in her gob, she shoves everything else in too!

We have hosp appt for her dimple tmrw, hoping they give her the all clear.

Flisspaps · 05/07/2012 18:01

Holly it's the tannin in tea that's the problem (usually coffee is ok wrt iron) but you're right about the OJ. Sadly I can't touch the stuff as its my migraine trigger, but I've got other vitamin c rich stuff around to help absorption. Thankfully I was given 9 boxes of iron, lots of advice and a diet sheet after my PPH with DD - the one for DS was twice the amount yet I got two boxes of iron and no advice at all. Bonkers. Have been out in the garden this pm - amazing what the sun can do to make things seem easier.

kat1885 · 05/07/2012 18:23

Holly, what is the dimple? Reason I ask is Aaron has one above his bottom crack which has hair in it. Midwife looked and said not to worry and the hair is from his back but Dr google says its the actual end of the world. His check isn't until next week as they called us late so just wondering what it could be prior to that.

HenriettaChicken · 05/07/2012 18:32

Tannin, eh... Does that mean you have to steer clear of red wine too? :(

Flisspaps · 05/07/2012 18:47

Don't know...I prefer rose wine or fruit cider anyway Grin

Phew on the coffee! I've been drinking one to two cups a day.

DS2 been more sleepy than hungry today. Only fed 9am, 1:30pm, 5:30pm and doing bedtime feed now. They were hour long feeds though. He cried whenever I offered him in between those times. Not particularly concerned as I went to the weigh-in clinic and he's 7.82kg / 17lbs 4oz! Now just under the 98th centile. So the last two weeks extra night feeds have not been in vain.

Flisspaps · 05/07/2012 19:39

17lbs 4oz Shock

newmummyvicky · 05/07/2012 22:35

I've had one strange baby today!
very hungry and didn't have a nap till 4pm today, lots of crying- not her normal self. I managed to get her asleep on me for 2 hrs at 4pm, and had a small feed at 5pm in the middle.
I've been feeding like new born, I counter over 10 feds today! Eeekkk.

I've been reading about the strong letdown and too much milk problem, and its sounds like us! tummy cramp, wind, arched back and has a love hate relationship with the boob! Lol
I got some tips- one to lean back and fed her face on you. Also I've been told to try sage and pepper mint tea, to slow down milk production!
Don't think infalcol and colief will help! They are just not working for her!

Just hope she grows to like the flow. Lol :)

HenriettaChicken · 05/07/2012 22:50

I guess I'm lucky in that despite my ridiculous oversupply and let down, Bill generally seems to enjoy the challenge of getting as much in his mouth as possible.

I'm less lucky in that when he's finished he has a tendency to spit it in my face to let me know!!!

Wow - 10 feeds a day! I thought it was bad that he'd gone up from 5 to 6-7. Keep going - you're doing a grand job.

Flisspaps · 05/07/2012 23:08

10 feeds is normal here! DS slept 7-10.30pm though, so my boobs have had a break and milk has had a chance to build up so now he's feeding again but not having to fight to get it. Got him to sleep without feeding at 5pm too by shushing and bum patting so will try that again tomorrow, in a last ditch attempt to save my sanity - along with lots of fluids, iron tablets, vitamins, cranberries (vitamin C for the iron) and some dates (to combat the clogging effect!)

OP posts:
HollyPockett · 06/07/2012 02:29

Fliss glad that the sun helped :) and hurrah for the iron tablets stock!

Kat yup, that's the dimple. I think DD's is quite deep (buy closed) so they want to check on it. They saw it straight after she was born and wanted to check after 6 weeks..

kat1885 · 06/07/2012 08:12

Fingers crossed its nothing to worry about holly.

HollyPockett · 06/07/2012 14:36

Well, we're back from the hosp and she's been discharged. Her dimple is closed so it's fine and nothing to worry about :)

kat1885 · 06/07/2012 15:02

Yay holly glad everything is fine.

hayley I am very impressed with your train skills.

I just threw my 2 in the bath. Ds1 keeps waking a up and they were both screaming (ds1 playing but he has 2 volumes, foghorn and perforated eardrum) and doing my head in. The bath gave me a break from it as they both love the bath. May mean tonight is a bit strange but my pil are coming over this evening anyway so means they get more time with the children now.

Flisspaps · 06/07/2012 15:52

Good news holly

Well done hayley

Kat I don't blame you, if DD wasn't likely to throw a wobbler thinking it was an early bedtime I'd consider it for my two!

OP posts:
newmummyvicky · 06/07/2012 20:33

Pleased all is fine Holly

And big up to you hayley lol

L is back to normal today, still feeding loads just hope this growth spurt will end soon??? I wouldnt mind the 2 hourly feeds in the day if she would give us a bit longer at night. fingers crossed tonight is good! and for everyone else....

She taking the bf well, not too much crying. She seems to like me lying back and being infront! also she had a sleepy day, i had her up at 5am to take DH to work, we only have one car between us and i was doing make-overs for a wedding today. left her with my mum for a few hours, which she loved.
oh we are planning her christening soon. ;-)

Hope all is well with everyone, and there babies?

justhayley · 07/07/2012 00:36

Haha thanks girls! I havnt been too brave with public breast feeding but it was either feed or let him scream the train down for half an hour! wasn't expecting to have to change an up the back all over clothes poo explosion on the train but hey didn't really have much choice lol

Iv really missed Noah today my mum had him for 4 hours so I could go to the hairdressers then I took him into work so everyone had cuddles except me. And hes been pretty much asleep since we got home Sad I know it's silly as we were only apart 4hours but don't feel like iv seen him!
Iv got my first night out tomorrow - a charity ball at Sandhurst so get to get all dressed up whilst wearing Breast pads and spanks underneath and not smell like sick! I'm really worried about my boobs though! Noah still feeds every 2 hours - today when we were apart 4 hours they grew about 3sizes were really painful and were leaking everywhere! I'm going to be away from him for about 10 hours tomorrow so god only knows what they will be like! Can't really fit my breast pump in my clutch bag lol so thinking I'll have to run to the loo with a cup and hand express - yep going out as a mum isn't going to be glamorous!

Anyone else's baby doing this.
Noah likes pushing his face against something when he's sleeping whether it's me or a blanket! In bed he's managing to wriggle onto his front so hes face down, I hate it! Think it's a comfort thing - maybe he feels like he's on the boob not really sure. Even in the pram hel wriggle to the side so his face is pushed against the edge, it's really odd! Iv got him in bed with me so I can feel when he's doing it and turn him around - strange baby, he's making me worry.

Flisspaps · 07/07/2012 06:54

hayley DS's favoured sleeping position is face-to-boob, with his cheek pushed right up flat against me. If he'd go in the Moses basket he'd probably be the same. If i get him to the bouncy chair or pram to sleep he has to be on his side with his cheek against the seat - don't worry!

OP posts:
Bearcrumble · 07/07/2012 08:02

Yes, same here - she only really likes to sleep on me once she's woken for the first time in the night and I kind of wedge another pillow against my side for me to rest my elbow on and she's on her tummy across me diagonally, with face on boob/armpit area. I know the guidance is not to have pillows near them but it's the only way at the moment we can get any sleep and I am a light sleeper - I wake if she moves.

Talking of moving she rolled a full 360 degrees, front to back and over again, yesterday. Can't leave her alone on my bed for a moment any more.

It was our 10th wedding anniversary yesterday - my mum babysat and we went to Heston Blumenthal's restaurant, Dinner for lunch. We were out for 5 hours - I was really panicking on the way home, felt it was too long to be apart. Mum managed to get her to take a tiny bit of expressed milk from a bottle but I think it was quite difficult for her looking after oth of them for the first time.

I did not sleep well last night because DH has gone away for work (left last night, back Sun night) and I get nervous - there was an attempted burglary next-door-but-one recently when the owner was home and I'm the end of the terrace. I think we need a burglar alarm.

Hayley Have a lovely time at the ball. I find supply is less in the evenings so hopefully you'll be ok.

Fliss Hope you got a good chunk of sleep last night and the iron-boosting is working.

newmummyvicky · 07/07/2012 08:33

hayley when I leave L for 4-5 hrs, If I out or have work. I wear two breast pads together this helps will leaking. It will be lovely to go and get dressed up for a change, make sure u have fun!

bearcrumble happy aniversary, 10 yrs that's something to celebrate! Glad U had a nice meal!

kat1885 · 07/07/2012 11:23

Have loads of fun hayley it will be lovely to get really dressed up.

I am sooo bored of rain. Those of you with more than one dc please give me some rainy day ideas (dont have wellies so can't go puddle jumping but will get some asap). Ds1 is 4 (starts school in Sept) and is bored which is making him very silly. He isn't bothered by colouring in, loves maths, only likes stories at bed time and a lot of the time needs me to play with him, something I will admit I'm not very good at, I think my imagination has deserted me now I'm an adult :(.

HenriettaChicken · 07/07/2012 12:55

Ooh, lovely, Bear Crumble - a Heston restaurant! How fab! We went to the Fat Duck the day after we got married, and just before the honeymoon. It cost us £750! TOTALLY worth it for a one off (especially as wedding gifts were for the honeymoon, so we used the money we had already saved for the honeymoon on it). Can't see us ever having the money to go back, though!

Bill seems to be through his growth spurt, and is back to regular feeding patterns. Almost. DH bottle fed him some of my milk yesterday evening (we were having a boozy dinner party) and he fell asleep after only a couple of oz, and then woke up about 2 hours later - most unlike him (Bill; not DH!). I think it was just the slight change of routine for him.

We also had the viewing following Bill's photo shoot on Wednesday. We managed to select 6 pics which we love (including, amazingly, one of the 3 of us). I can't wait for them to arrive! We only got round to doing it as a gift for my parents' ruby wedding anniversary, but I am so pleased that we did. There's a really lovely one of Bill on his front. He's a little star.

Has anyone else had any shoots done? I'll post the pics on the FB page when they get here - but not for the moment as it's a BIG SECRET and my parents haven't a clue.

Wow - bit of an essay here! Sorry about that Grin
Enjoy your weekends!
