Ooops my Grin didn't work. Had a bad night last night with A up a lot and suspect my brain is also not really working today ...

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 08/06/2012 09:55

cheshire just measured S, she is 69cm so only a few cm more than P. her book is down in the car so can't see what she was before
ips 8 days! Poor baby Sad. It will be perfect timing though at wedding. Babies like to do that!! Have a lovely day Smile
pa good luck with presentation. Agree you should also add those words in... Grin

Better night here. I gave S 4oz of milk at 11.30pm and she slept through till 6am which was much better than 4am! Had her milk then we both snuggled up and napped for another 40 mins. Hoping now today will be a more 'normal' day. Will go with the extra feed again tonight, maybe just growing again and needing the extra.

What's everyone up to this wkend? The Olympic torch is coming past my mums house tomorrow morning so me and S going down to stay there tonight so we can see it.

Oh my god, she just pulled herself up to stand using the drawers in her bedroom!! Shock

ipswichwitch · 08/06/2012 10:01

Yaay for S fuzzy :)
Quick update, we have major poopage!!!! He's now a happy little boy again, scoffed his porridge and now going berserk in his jumperoo. Now have to go make myself look presentable. This could take some time Grin
Gustatory ... Another good sciency word. Personally I'd give you the job penguin, especially if you used all 3 words in a sentence together :)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 08/06/2012 10:04

Yay for N!!! Grin

strawberrypenguin · 08/06/2012 19:28

Yay for S Grin clever girl

Yay for N and poo too!

CheshireDing · 08/06/2012 20:50

Yay for poo and standing Smile clever babies Grin

Yes the Wives are bizaree I agree, took a while of DH explaining the co-pilot thing, once I understood I was "what the hell"??!! I think it's ridiculous but then I don't pander to DH when he is worrying about doing stuff on his own with her.

P has tried some new flavours this week - marmite, pigs in blankets, pizza and cake crumbs off a friends lounge carpet!. Everything was freshly made and at least it shows her pincer grip is improving then Grin

TallyBear · 08/06/2012 23:14

Fuzzzy yey for S. Wow they are really growing up (although Seb doesn't even seem bothered about rolling over yet!)

Ips I can't believe I'm saying this but yey for poo!

PA how did your presentation go?

Did someone say something about an 8 month sleep regression? I think Seb is going through one in a big way, about 2-3 weeks early. Last night was painful (and tonight so far), it's like he's forgotten how to sleep.

Cheshire not tried Marmite yet, bit worried about the salt thing. Do you think it's OK? Were at in laws today and Seb had loads of MiL's fish pie with peas and runner beans and strawberries for afters. Dh and I then left him and went to the cinema; can't remember the last time we went. Was quite nice but felt odd driving off without the LO!

PenguinArmy · 08/06/2012 23:20

personally I think a few dabs of marmite is alright

yay for poo's. we need to work out how to get more fluids into DS as we are starting to have trouble there

forgot to say the biting only lasted a few days and i think it was teething related.

presentation is on tuesday. Kinda haven't written it, but have worked out the structure (how much you can get done in 1-2 hours for 2 nights is limited). Going to work on it properly over the weekend now my head is in the right place. It's 15 mins followed by a 1 hr panel interview. I've never had a proper interview in my life Shock. It is not a dream job, but I think it would be a sensible job so need to try properly. Still feels a bit, I dunno, I've always been aiming for something before and now I just want a simple job but can't let go

Penelope1980 · 09/06/2012 01:35

Having interviewed a few ppl PA my only advice is don't rush answering any questions, and there is nothing wrong with taking a pen and paper in and writing notes - esp if you are asked any really long q's. Interviewers often like to see how you process things, so don't hurry.

A won't eat any finger food! Any advice? He is great with food on a spoon, and even likes to put the spoon in his own mouth, but am struggling to give him anything he needs to hold himself.

Tally check out the Wonder Week document on our fb page. I do believe P is coming out of the other side now as the last 2 nights we have had a 5.5 hour stretch of sleep (whereas we were getting 2 hours before). I think I put the document in the "docus" tab at the top. You just need to work out how many weeks old S is and see where on it he falls. I totally believe in it, but then I am a bit mad, (potty training aside).

Personally I too think that now they are bigger and more robust I am tending to be more chilled out as time goes on with P's foods. Unless there are allergies in the family or it has honey in I figure it's okay for them to try. I am not giving her juice, chocolate/desserts etc, anything highly processed/microwavable. Mostly DH cooks and makes his own stuff, over the weekend we went to a few bbq's and P's had bits and bobs from them but I just didn't give her the meat (because I presumed it was cheaper cuts as if you are having a bbq for 30 odd people it's unlikely you will go to the butcher because it would cost a fortune), that's my theory anyway if it makes sense.

For the salt intake I just try and bear in mind what she had the day before, so if she has bread today so won't have it tomorrow etc.

Penguin is that why you were in America because of your job?

Pene do you think he doesn't like having messy fingers? - don't know what to suggest though, will have a think.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 09/06/2012 12:38

I'm still making (lumpy) purées from AK book, this week M has tried wheat flakes for breakfast salmon and lamb.
cheshire I tend to spend more on BBQ meat than regular meat because I think as its served "simply" then it's more obvious if it's cheap.
--but then the last BBQ we had was 2 years ago and cost us £400 Shock so needless to say we don't have them often.

emmazed · 09/06/2012 13:09

Hey, finally caught up (I know I don't need to, but...) been back with my folks for my mums chemo. All ok (ish) so far

pene J used to do nothing with finger food, he would eat it if I put it in his mouth, but not put it there himself. We are getting there, I think he just doesn't know what to do. I put it in his mouth, then after a bit put his hand there to hold it. Seems to be working, now he will 50% of the time put finger foods in his mouth. It only really works if he is hungry and really likes it, otherwise it just gets squished!

Well done for the standing babies! J pulled himself up for the 1st time yest. V exciting, but also worrying about how quickly he is progressing. His crawling is quick now, and we haven't sorted a stair gate yet... He sits in the toilet with me now just in case... (poor thing!)

Food is going well, he def prefers veggie food rather than meat...think it is harder to eat for him

He has had an awful cold so I am with you ladies with disterbed nights, poor thing wakes up crying as he is so bunged up. Trying karvol plug in, which is ok, but not brilliant. He seems a little better today FX.

PenguinArmy · 09/06/2012 13:14

yep, was doing a post-doc out there

1/5 of it did, now on coffee break

we have tried DS with a spoon a few times, when we have tarka dal for example, but it doesn't really work. It would be nice to have that flexibilty although it would be better if he drank out of a sippy cup. As he relies on us giving him a open cup we get a bit forgetful Blush

what about offering a few clean finger foods during a treasure basket type session. think of it as toy for now. you could chop a load of coloured fruit/eggies/salad bits.

PenguinArmy · 09/06/2012 13:15

£400 Shock

nice to 'see' you again Ed

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 09/06/2012 16:33

Yeah that was for one of C's birthdays we went a bit OTT!

Sorry know I'm never on now I do try and keep up but struggle to find time ATM Sad

ipswichwitch · 10/06/2012 19:32

cheshire is the wonder week thing week out for actual age or corrected age as he was 6wk prem? I've not had a look yet, but was planning to as I think N is hitting some milestone in terms of sleep change (waking more again!).
Thinking about it tho it's prob due to the fact we have a tooth!! His first one in fact and i discovered it during the wedding when he used my finger as a chew toy :) he was very good (slept through the ceremony). Am a bit :( that he's not crawling/standing yet but hoping the prematurity is the reason and he'll be where your DCs are now in 6 wks time

ipswichwitch · 10/06/2012 19:37

Pen I second suggestion of non-messy food, things like pasta twirls with no sauce, carrot sticks, etc. Ns first finger food was melon and he loves it as its cool on his gums so he always get it when he's bothered by teething

CheshireDing · 10/06/2012 19:45

Scheh gorgeous pics on fb of C's Baptism :)

Ed I want to come to one of your bbq's, they sound amazing! We spent £200 on our house warming bbq the other month and there were around 50 people and I thought that cost of fortune. I would be spoilt of yours Grin

Ipswich P has only just really started crawling "of a fashion" today and it's more a shuffle really and she is 8 months. I wouldn't worry about when they start doing stuff I am not worried at all that some of the other babies are well ahead. She will get there when she's ready that's my theory. In terms of the age with prem babies aren't you supposed to add on the weeks they should have still been "cooking" Grin. So if (e.g.) N had been in the world 8 months today you would take 6 weeks off that and expect him to be at the milestone of 6.5 month - that's my understanding from a couple of the prem babies that P is friends with anyway. Obviously give or take the fact that there is going to be some flexibility with everything, and I don't believe the words "ahead" or "behind" for little babies :)

There is a supposed to be a MASSIVE spurt at 6 months as it is a growth and developmental one. I think the next massive one is 12 months.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/06/2012 20:02

I wouldn't worry about them crawling or walking etc yet either M is 7.5months and nowhere near either. plus life gets a lot harder when their mobile

cheshire I'm really greedy a bit of a foodie so do tend to go OTT when having people round for any kind of food. And the £400 included drinks and canapés so wasn't all BBQ Wink

lookout · 10/06/2012 20:03

ips no crawling here yet either and E was 8 mo on Friday, but also born 2.5 weeks early. I'm in no rush for him to be on the move! Makes life a whole lot more tiring when they are Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/06/2012 20:04

I'm currently watching MTV movie awards and johnny depp is playing guitar can that man get any hotter!!!

lookout · 10/06/2012 20:32

Ed Grin I'm with you on that one

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 10/06/2012 21:47

I think S was def going through a spurt/development stage last week. We seem to be past the 4am wakes and have been back to semi normal for a few days now. Agree with cheshire though, there is no ahead or behind, they will all get there in their own time. She is now crawling, pulling herself up to stand and 'walking' more with my hands. This has all been in just the past week!! Has went from sitting playing with her toys to scaring the life outta me by just appearing at the kitchen door!
I've slept more all less all weekend. Think all the early starts caught up with me. We stayed at my parents on fri night as the Olympic torch was passing by their street early Saturday morning so we went to see that then my dad took her a walk in buggy so I went back to bed for a while. Got up late afternoon looking dreadful so my mum said they would keep her overnight and I went home. Slept almost 12 hours till the damn neighbour decided to start sanding their floors at 7.30am this morning so think I really needed it! Just done all the ironing so off to sort kitchen then it's bed time Smile

PenguinArmy · 10/06/2012 22:56

DS isn't even on all fours yet and he is now 8 months.

he is ill though, what looks like conjunctivitis plus 39 fever :( will phone gp in morning. has been a very unsettled night so far, have presentation written but not practised anywhere near enough

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 10/06/2012 22:59

Aww, poor boy pa Sad
Do you have presentation tomorrow?
