Morning all.

Looong day yesterday after getting the 16 week jabs (at 18 weeks!) He wasn't actually ill, just clingy. Which was kind of nice except he has also realised just how much noise he can make!

He dropped off on Daddy about 10.30, we woke him at 12.30 (after we finished watching the latest Mission Impossible film - peposterous! I haven't seen anything so ridiculous since the last Mission Impossible film Grin) gave him a bottle and we got away with a 4am and 6am feed. Progress.....

In other awesome news he was weighed yesterday and is now back above the 9th centile at 12lb 6.5oz. Woop Woop! Choosing to ignore that his cousin was also weighed yesterday and is 12lb 3oz and 3 months younger

Today I am on lockdown waiting for my shiny new Fridge Freezer to arrive. Then Mum is leaving me her car whilst she gets the train down to London village for the weekend so I can do a mahoosive shop to fill said freezer.

OiMissus · 03/05/2012 08:04

Pom pommery for Octoboy!
Scoobywe had a week or two of practicing and getting nowhere, then I went back to work full time so the pressure was on. It took 3 days of attempts with my mum, before he really drank, and 4 nursery visits before he trusted them enough to take the bottle. He never really got the Calma. But that's possibly because we gave him an empty Tommee Tippee to play with on his mat. He'd hold it and chew on it to soothe his gums. So when we put milk in, he'd chew on it, and over a long period may take only an ounce, but eventually he learnt to drink. - And now it doesn't matter if it's breastmilk or the ready-made formula.
Both SIL and mum have tried baby rice with him this week and he hasn't been at all interested.
mopsy you know she'll be fine, she'll have a lovely day, and have some new experiences. It's good for her. At BOi's nursery they always do new stuff, he's seen a puppet show, he's played with creatures in soil (?) - it's all good. Our Lo's will learn off the older ones and won't be completely dependent on us. ...But I'll just update my lottery ticket because I hate being away from him! :)

Figgygal · 03/05/2012 08:10

Morning he slept until 6.15 i will take it Grin he even went back to bed (as did i) for a doze for another hour. Food is definitely the answer even if he will get as fat as a pig Confused.

Going to see work peeps today then hitting asda for the baby event for lo and then mummy shopping i have gift cards from radley and m&s to splurge away and have a feeling today is the day Grin

BJR · 03/05/2012 08:22

Yeh for sleeping babies! We are still lurgy filled here so having a very lazy week. Been up with DS since 2am but feeling surprisingly ok, ah caffeine .... Plan for the day is to look for interesting jobs, not to keen on going back to mine so may have a look into something new!

We had 1.15, 4.15, 5.30 and 7.30. Not great but not as bad as it could be. Trying to herd the troops off to the garage to get the car fixed then a playdate this afternoon.

hawthers · 03/05/2012 09:16

Oh and vote thanks for the reminder lmf

aethelfleda · 03/05/2012 09:41

ta!

vote. yep, will do, but not til have put washing on, tidied the bombsite a little, and settled the baby a bit (teething again I think)

GeeandTee · 03/05/2012 10:16

No voting here.

What has my life become that I am excited about lunch in the Sainsburys cafe?! I used to have breakfast/lunch/dinner meetings in swanky London hotels and not find it half as exciting! These kids have a lot to answer for...

I suppose its good though that I am now a cheap date and easily pleased! Ah the simple life...I wouldn't go back to those days if I was paid a million p/a now.

Sorelip · 03/05/2012 10:17

Arrrgh DS is not drinking enough! He last had a bottle at 5.30am (he doesn't normally wake until around 7.30, but he hasn't drunk enough for the last three days so is waking earlier), and cried when I tried to give him another bottle at 10am. I tried bonjela, but that hasn't worked. He didn't crap yesterday but has done this morning. What the hell is going on?

HoneyLovesCake · 03/05/2012 10:53

Yesterday was a nap nightmare; I put him down upstairs for all 5(!!!) & he kept waking. He usually has 2 x 1-2hrs. He was so tired by 6.30 that I took him up for the night. By 7.30 he was fast asleep & he slept on his own upstairs until 10.10!!! It's the first time DP & I have been alone together since he was born & even though we'd had a row earlier it was really nice Shock I know it can be done now so I will persevere with the naps.

I woke at 3.40 & couldn't get back to sleep again so I gave in & got up at 5 to clean the bathroom but DS kicked his covers off & woke DP at 5.40 (whoops). I went back to bed to settle him & ended up sleeping myself until 7.30....so I feel AMAZING!!! Grin I was practically singing with joy over breakfast but had to hold back as DP was apparently shattered after being woken...lightweight Wink

I have been promised a holiday in Italy but nothing is booked & DP's workload gets heavier by the day. It's our 10 year anniversary in August too so I'd like to do a short break for that too. We've been abroad together once in 10 years :(

Yay for sleeping babies!

Thanks for the recipe dsm I'll definitely give it a go. Made sugar-free carrot cake from the BLW cookbook yesterday & I really like it although it's as expected not very sweet.

Sorry for your troubles sorelip Hope your DS poos & drinks soon...could the 2 be linked? DS was very grizzly & fussy on the boob yesterday as he didn't do his usual morning poosplosion...he made up for it this morning though!

Sorry, for the long post; I started it this morning & got interrupted by naptime & forgot to press send. DS is now napping upstairs although it took an hour to extricate myself & he just got woken by the doorbell >_< (I've removed the batteries now). Managed to settle him back down in 5 mins flat :)

MissRee · 03/05/2012 11:50

Never go to clinic with a slight temperature. I thought I was going to melt into the carpet in a yukky sweaty puddle!

Freya is dropping down the centiles - she's gone from 50th to just above 9th and weighs 12lb7 at 16 weeks. I said she had a bit of an upset run for a couple of days but they seem to think it would be more than acouple of days for that kind of drop. Got to go back in 2 weeks and wear a bikini next time

LittleMissFlustered · 03/05/2012 13:33

Just bought a pair of shoes for myself. They were only £17.50 (clarks sale) and I feel guilty. I hate this aspect of parenthood:/

HoneyLovesCake · 03/05/2012 13:56

Don't you dare LMF you absolutely deserve a treat! If it makes you feel better I spent £165 on clothes from asos yesterday...admittedly I'll probably send the lot back as I only really ordered them to get free next day delivery on a bra I need for the wedding but if I like something I'll keep it because I deserve it as do you!

Rashkakeller · 03/05/2012 14:19

I second HLC, do not feel guilty! Besides anything, you do loads of walking so need a decent pair of shoes for your future health! Fab news re sleep btw :oD

MissRee, my dd started off on the 50th, then the 25th then settled on the 9th and she is still small. She is just fitting her 2-3 years clothes without them being comedy big and she is 3 in just over a week. Frets just might be destined to be petite!

Well done to the sleeping babies - ds woke at 11pm last night which is rare but he did feed then go back down until 8.30 this morning so i'm counting that as the 4th night in a row for sleeping through.

Just got back from a friends, our dds have a play so its a nice break. Feel lousy so going to put dd down for a nap then cosy up with ds to watch the biggest loser

Rashkakeller · 03/05/2012 14:21

Freya not Frets - thanks autocorrect!

aethelfleda · 03/05/2012 15:34

Back at home; Went all the way into town to drop off Dd1's glasses for repair and forgot the glasses (arg!) did change all library books and had a sarnie in local cafe- I try to treat the girls to meals out that aren't always the evil twin arches, partly cos it's good to encourage manners, and partly cos I enjoy short meals out. (long ones, as you will discover, are entirely at the whim of your child's Mediterranean tendencies. Sinhletons can do it quite well but multiple kiddies and long leisurely meals rarely go together well, especially in the evenings. )

No guilt LMF, they sound like really good value! My Docs cost £60 but I live in them so feel it's a necessity. There is a mum at school who owns 200+ pairs of shoes (two wardrobes full). I bet she's not guilty about it...

aethelfleda · 03/05/2012 15:41

Oh And misree DS is down from 75th centile at birth to just below 25 th now. I think that's just the weight he's meant to be as DD1 was the same and they look very alike. Just smile and nod at the HV, get her reweighed in a few weeks and see what happens. If you think she's well in herself then just wait and see. (its normal for BF infants to drop a centile at this age but I think F is FF, isn't she?)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/05/2012 16:23

LMF Don't feel guilty. We all need a treat every now and again :)

DP had taken the day off work tomorrow, so i've told him he is can take me clothes shopping as I no longer fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes, so he needs to buy me some new ones :)

Spent the time around my nans most of the day. Discussing when I'm going to paint her living room next week! Sky was good as gold around there. Shock was that when we got home she napped for a whole hr, which she has never done before. Will probably pay for it tonight lol.

DP is out tonight. Chill out one for me once the girls are in bed.

MissRee · 03/05/2012 16:29

Yes, she's FF Aethel. it's been mentioned to me that it could be to do with her Tongue tie. Apparently at 3-4 months they struggle with feeding with TT? I don't know whether there's any truth in it. I had noticed Freya being more fussy on the bottle (kicking and thrashing around halfway through) and tried upping teat size thinking it was frustration with slow flow but the size 3s overwhelmed her. She sometimes "clicks" when feeding and had wondered whether increased air/wind was causing her to be more sicky recently. This could be put down to TT???

I don't tend to get her weighed that often and last time was on 20 March. She weighed 11lb1oz then.

jigglebum · 03/05/2012 17:11

quick hello from me just to mark my place. DH and I have made some good progress. We both wrote down how we felt about things and then we could discuss it calmly as all the hurt/anger had gone by writing it down and thinking it through. We are both trying to change small things that can make a big difference. It has been a good week so far from that point of view. DH had some very fair comments about things for me to think about too.

Unfortunately freya is teething I think this week so has been really grumpy. She has also become really hungry and so we have started the baby rice and today we are trying pear. The HV was ok about it (freya is nearly 21 weeks ) but told me to stick just with a teaspoon or so of baby rice for 2 weeks! and then increase it - so I nodded politely and will ignore!

Best go - teatime and grumpy F

CherryBlossom27 · 03/05/2012 17:43

Hi everyone,

I've had a lovely lazy day at home today, the weather outside looks grey and miserable, so I decided I couldn't be bothered! I've got a fair amount of housework done, one load of washing in the machine, hoovered the living room, kitchen, bathroom and hallway. Dusted and polished the living room too! I've also had a big tidy up so feeling quite pleased.

Tomorrow I'm going to the local library as I saw they had a rhyme time for babies! I feel like there's not much going on for babies in my area and I'm the first one of all friends to have a baby, so desperately trying to make some 'mummy friends' as it's a bit boring sometimes when everyone else seems to be at work. I have signed up for a baby massage course which starts in a months time, so really looking forward to that! I've also spotted a new rhyme time group that's started up so I'm going to go along. I really just want to chat to people in real life!

I had a chat with my gp about DS (appt was for myself, but he was with me so got talking about his habits!), and she was very supportive and said if the milk feeds are getting too frequent to start introducing solids. My HV of course said DS was "far too young" to introduce solids. I'm feeling a lot more confident with the go ahead from the gp that I'm not doing anything horrific by introducing solids.

I'm have really been obsesssing and now I'm happy with my decision at last. It's reassuring to see a lot of people on this thread have started introducing solids too and I'm not the only one!

LittleMissFlustered · 03/05/2012 18:24

They advise small quantities to allow the stomach time to adjust, nothing more:)

Sky is loving fruity porridge at the moment for tea. She will be having sweet potato & swede puree for lunch tomorrow.

KateM77 · 03/05/2012 19:31

jiggle so pleased to hear there's been some progress

Cherry we went to Rhyme Time at our library today and it's really good. Sadly found out the library is being closed on 24th May. Ironically they've made the top 5 for library of the year and find out on 14th May if they've won. Madness Sad. I'm heading to the council website next to fill out a complaints form survey

Rash 4 nights in a row is amazing. DS has only ever done 3 in a row, and the last 3 have been good here so I'm not expecting a great night ahead.

DH just texted to say he ran from his office to Euston and then realised he'd left his keys in the office so was heading back to get them. Dickhead.
