waves to LMF and athel on night shift and anyone else up. Ds is one of the older babies on here (9th December birthday) but still seems to be keeping the Jan babies company! Why oh why? Very nice of him, but I wish he wouldn't. Still, I can't really complain 9.40 til 3ish is good going, just with everything else going on, sleeping 4 hours ish is beginning to take its toll.

Sounds fab night athel. In this house its going the opposite - DD has taken up waking too early, but as she is getting older Dp decided to put hervyo bed a little later so we tried 7.50. Ds then starts to get really fussy at 8.20ish at which point I just get thin ready for bed. Feed and when he goes down I just go to bed too. So I get no time at all - and Dp is still sleeping on sofa!

Sorry on phone and blurry so can't remember everything but figgy fingers crossed your insurance pays up, oi your neighbours sound fab - here's hoping for some of that wine determined hugs and also hawthers hugs, god this parenting malarkey is bloody hard kate Grin my dd shouted the other day 'ih mam mam look at his willllllly, its so cute isn't it, it so little and cute' leans in for closer inspection and he pees right in her face haha. 'not that cute mam, he's weed on me mammy' with Shock face.

Back up again :( DS has seemingly regresses and after a night feed and now only goes back into his cot for half an hour.

girlsyearapart · 02/03/2012 06:34

Morning all.

determined my niece sounds very similar to your dd.
She is an angel at school & for the most part when I or other people look after her but pretty much as soon as my sister comes to get her she totally switches & is a little horror.
It's so hard to watch & I really feel for my sister who is a brilliant mum & the nicest person in the whole world bar none.

All those whose Dhs are complaining about bf ing being cut short it's the other way around for us!
My Dh constantly wants to give H a bottle of formula even when he can see me having fed for an hour..
His argument is that he drinks it.
Well yes he will but then will puke the whole lot up & be back to square one..

I was so upset when bf ing didn't work with dd1 at two weeks I cried on the bathroom floor while he gave her a bottle.

Whoever said about milk blister hawthers? I had one with dd1 that coincided with my 8wk check & the doctor popped it with a needle. Wasn't painful.

aethelfleda · 02/03/2012 07:37

Morning! DH prodded me at 7am saying I think you need to get uP now. ...arg! He did get me tea to soften the blow, but really! HUGE smile from DS when i got him up to change his bum, which was lovely.
I think I will continue the put-up-in-evenings when dS zonks for now, even if I'm going upstairs to feed him every 40 mins it still tells him when I'd "like" night time and will give the DDs a sense of his bedtime too. I'm not one to let him cry and he'll hopefully get the message

it's my friend's london wedding trip tomorrow, will he going in insanely early to enable me to break the journey for feeds with cunning backup plan of slinging him during the service so he will sleep. Hmm, need to find some baby clothes that are the least unsuutable possible for a wedding

itsy, your LO is about 12 weeks? It's v common for them
To have sleep regression at this point : no magic cures but it, like everything else is a stage they go through. Both my DDs did it...

Here's to multiple cups of Brewto get us through another day!

aethelfleda · 02/03/2012 07:39

Oh and girls tell your hubby that formula drinking uses a sucking reflex (rather than the lapping motion babies use on the breast) so the reflex can make them continue to drink even when not hungry, like a baby who's finished on the boob will continue to suck without actually drinking/swallowing. So consuming the Formula doesnt always mean baby's hungry IYSWIM?

Sequin1 · 02/03/2012 07:40

hawthers I have heard people recommend standing in hot shower and brushing over duct with a comb to work it out. Might be worth a shot

aethelfleda · 02/03/2012 07:41

And given the current concern for world < haddock> shortage due to this thread, I've got a nice you could whack him with if he persists?

OiMissus · 02/03/2012 08:20

I'll read the thread and catch up, but before I do, you may recall that I was hoping LO would sleep through till 5 again? Well he didn't. After going to sleep at 7:45pm, he has wanted to feed 7 times. -the last one was at 6am.
I am knackered. And he is kicking and chuckling with all the energy in the world.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 02/03/2012 09:28

Girls How does your sister cope with it?

NorthernChinchilla · 02/03/2012 09:36

All is changing on the sleep front here too; LO went up for a sleep at about 9pm, giving me and DP an hour on the sofa! It felt odd and part of me wanted to cuddle a cushion as it felt like something was missing Confused. He stirred around 10, so brought him down for a quick feed (so I could finish watching TV programme) and then went to bed...

...where we both slept til 3.15, then 6 and then 8! DS, with this sleeping you are spoiling us- and at nearly 12 weeks, just in time to start regressing, gah! But getting a night which includes a 'sleeping through' is magic.

I too had wondered about laudanum aethel, but let's hope this is the start of us not needing it Smile

I'd been handing round sardines for minor infractions Oi, as I think they're pretty sustainable!

My DS is covered in scratches YBR- am very grateful for integral scratch mits. I may get OH when he's had a beer and is relaxed enough to hold DS whilst I (sober!) cut the nails...

I hope your day is better hawthers, and the duct sorts out- the last thing you need on top of it all is mastitis.

Today is cleaning the bathroom and shower, urgh, and making a beef cobbler for tonight and Saturday's dinner. My red wine of choice for tonight I believe is a carmenere (god I can't spell this early..) Oi. Am also painkiller'd and tubi-gripped up, as my tendonitis is getting worse and progressing to the back of my hands- thanks to whoever recommended the tubi stuff, much appreciated!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 02/03/2012 09:48

Sky has Boogie Mites this morning and Infant Massage later today.
Am going to make my fish bake for dinner, just need to nip to Tesco & pick up some prawns - knew I forgot something when I done my shopping!

Sky is enjoying her new Lamaze Emily Doll which came this morning. She also loves her Lamaze Dragon :)

msbuggywinkle · 02/03/2012 09:55

Morning! Bad night here too, DDs 1&2 were up coughing a lot so we are having a quiet day today. Brew and Cake for everyone else who is tired.

dsm can you think of it this way? As she is great for everyone else, she clearly trusts you enough that she can express her negative emotions about whatever it is that is affecting her without fear that something awful will happen. Sounds like you are doing your job well to me!

oi do you have chance to grab a nap today? Or to fling Ali towards your OH for the evening?

itsy I had to ring DP to share how funny I found that!

Plans for the weekend people?

Going to the nursery to buy compost and a new greenhouse tomorrow [old before my time] then a friend's birthday meal in the evening. Planning to spend Sunday in the garden!

Sequin1 · 02/03/2012 10:05

DSM my lo loves the lameze doll always makes her smile she also laughs at her, i love it when they laugh sounds a bit like that advert for cow and gate!

Hooray for those getting a decent kip Sad for those not including myself, after a successful day of lo sleeping in her cot thought I would try the night - nightmare was back in the Moses basket by 2.30 and was then unsettled until 5am. Might try again next week but will carry on with naps in the cot.

I'm wondering though if she is sleeping too much in the day

Figgygal · 02/03/2012 10:11

Morning all

Well last night LO slept from 8.30 -6.30 with just a short nappy change at around 10, am sure it wont last.

Today dh and i are taking him to slimbridge wildfowl and wetlands centre since its another nice day and its expected to rain tomorrow here.

Ive joined the local nct egroup to find out about their activities feel like by the time hes interactive enough to do many activities or get anything from baby groups ill be back at work Sad. Swimming was put off this week going to take him monday i think what types of things do you ladies do with the LOs at this young age?

BJR · 02/03/2012 10:12

Another bad night here, DS had a several hour long screaming rage and could not be comforted by anything. He then passed out probably exhausted poor boy. He seems ok this morning though, fingers crossed.

Plan for the day, packing for holiday! Off to spend a week in the middle of no where doing nothing but relaxing, walking and eating good food. Well and looking after a 10 weeks old baby :o Maybe a few bottles of wine thrown in for good measure!

LittleMissFlustered · 02/03/2012 10:16

Ug.

BJR · 02/03/2012 10:23

Figgy I was thinking the same that DS would be too little to get much out of any baby groups but proved myself wrong. So far have taken him to a musical bumps class, he loves being sung too so seemed perfect. Admittedly he did spend the first 20 mins looking at a light in the corner of the room but after that did lots of smiles and gurggling during the songs.

Also going to start taking him to a local group for under ones soon to see how that is.

NorthernChinchilla · 02/03/2012 11:13

We were bought that dragon too DSM, and it's called Didi; it hangs off DS's car seat!

Pretty similar plan to you MsB; I'm getting very excited about the first trip of the year to the garden centre! Need to replace a rose (and may do so with a climbing hydrangea) and there's loads I'm going to sort out.
Last year, as I was pregnant and the fence came down and didn't get sorted til late on (and it was a crap summer) not too much got done, so I'm looking forward to this; however, funds are obviously limited owing to reduced pay, so am going to try not to go too mad...

Not much figgy- mat on the floor in front of TV, play mat, sleeping, feeding and then just carting him wherever I go: shops, cafes, getting ready, making food in kitchen, etc. But it's working out OK! I also dance round with him a bit, either to music or just smothering him with kisses and telling him how gorgeous he is Blush

seven77 · 02/03/2012 11:45

for the next person to call themselves a failure. hawthers and dsm you're both brilliant mums and you're doing the best you can, and it will get better. In the meantime just take each day at a time.

oi we make our own wine but don't get much time now, it's not difficult and you can it out of pretty much anything. You just shove the fruit (or veg) in a large plastic tub with chopped raisins, tea, yeast and sugar and put it in the airing cupboard to ferment. Then put it in a demijohn (5l glass thick glass bottle) with a burper (odd bung thing which lets air bubbles out). Once it's finished burping transfer it into another demijohn and wait for it to clear then transfer into bottles and it's ready. We've learnt that strawberry wine is amazing, blackberry wine gets you very drunk with horrendous hangovers and nettle wine tastes how you would imagine eating a hedge!

Everyone still BFing has done really well making it this far, there's no need for any guilt for thinking about introducing some formula. After 'failing' with BFing twice I've decided that other than perhaps trying some colostrum I'm going straight to FFing next time. I know the pushy MWs some people won't approve but tbh their opinions don't bother me, it's not their business.

We had racist MIL round yesterday, telling us how someone had their car written off because "a paki drove into the back of them" Angry. We've told her so many times that we don't appreciate her talking that way in front of DS but it never changes anything. I can't stop her seeing her grandchildren because DH wouldn't let me but I don't want them growing up thinking that speaking that way is acceptable.

Northern Sky's dragon is called Doris Grin

Sky enjoyed Boogie Mites this morning. Off to Infant Massage at 1:30.

I do agree that Darcie feels safe to let her negative energy off at home but its so tiring and makes me feel a failure low :(

hawthers · 02/03/2012 13:01

dan hugs from over here. I've found thinking that every day is a clean slate helpful. I was crappy yesterday but today i will be better.

I bought ds some very cute babygros but have a problem with the size. He was 9lb on Monday and these are supposed to go up to 12lb but ds fits then already. Think they'll have to go back unless ds has put on 3b in a week... Pah!

hawthers · 02/03/2012 13:02

Sorry not Dan dsm

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 02/03/2012 13:09

Hawthers I wake up every morning thinking today will be better then it all starts to go downhill :( Am physically & mentally exhausted.

Take the babygros back & swap for the next size up. I've found it depends where you buy from.
