Was she a teenager Ledkr?

ledkr · 13/03/2012 22:33

No she was 43 robin Grin Yes she was a nasty 15 yr old being kicked out by her shitty parents.Im trying to help her get somewhere to live she is lush, all surly cross at life (understandably) Im off this week but i text her each night to tell her im going to help her.Her parents are idiots.

Grrr dh is really annoying me.He put footy on then disappeared and was gabbing on the phone so i switched over.He then comes in and puts more footy on but then started another convo with his twat parents who feel its ok to phone here at 10.30.I was cool when they rang the landline late so now they phone dh's mobile.

ILovePonyo · 14/03/2012 09:02

Morning, ah ledkr like how you were nice that young girl, a lot of people would have had a huff and not tried after she'd sworn at them. She's lucky to have you as her worker Smile

I miss working with young people, although dp has had some hassle off one of the kids at his school saying pretty rank things about A Angry he bollocked him and didn't accept his apology when the kid said sorry Grin

A was awake at 6.45 which is amazing considering she went to sleep at 9.30 Shock maybe she's having a growth spurt, I don't know.

Wiggles what do you do about food if one likes something and another doesn't?! Or do you have set dinners that everyone eats? Not that it is a worry for me Grin just wondering...

Hope everyone has a good day, and reastie hope work is ok

americanexpat · 14/03/2012 09:27

tad - I had a google and this says that blood in breastmilk is not a problem for the baby, so I'd keep it.

Borg - I think reastie (?) didn't like the choc philly either. I'm also Envy of the kitchen. I wanted to get one for L but DH thinks it'll be too much of a hassle to get rid of when we move. Angry

Robin - no chocolate before EASTER?! Good god, woman, that's weeks away.

We give L actual pizza when we have pizza - are we the worst parents ever? He loves it though, eats it almost as quickly as a peanut butter sandwich.

Delia - Hope you're enjoying a bit of a lie-in today. Grin

Right, I'm finally back to my pre-preg weight but my tummy is still horrible and really loose. It's never going to be the same, is it? [sob]

wigglesrock · 14/03/2012 10:51

ponyo the girls eat much earlier than us, A will eat anything, Olivia will give most things a go and Sofia would prefer to live off beans, cucumber, cheese, cooked pasta with no sauce, creamed potatoes, fish for the rest of her life, so I tend to cook prepare meals with Sofia in mind knowing that the other 2 will eat most of it, or I cook for the other two and Sofia has a sandwich and some fish.

Olivia has a two course hot meal in nursery every day so I worry less about her.

americanexpat Anna didn't eat anything for ages apart from peanut butter. Well done on getting back to your prepregnancy weight.

Anna had her 12 month assessment this morning. All grand, she was weighed and measured and that was about it. I have no concerns about her apart from the slightly more sensitive skin which HV felt was just one of those things. She was on her feet, wrecking the room and trying to climb into the sharps bin so the HV had no worries about her. Oh apart from the fact that she is tall - no shit Sherlock, she's humungous.

Wish me luck for the First Confession later Grin, 2 hours in a chapel with 50 6-7 year olds - living the high life here!

Mr W is back to work, I'm a terrible wife, its bliss just having the house to myself Anna is asleep and I have no-one to annoy me - he kept wanting to chat, I mean wtf we've been married nearly 14 years the time for talking is long gone Grin

Enjoy Her first confession wiggles

Hi all, Archie has had his first hair cut this morning and is looking all smart to meet the wiggles girls . Then had him at the dr's as he has had weepy eyes on and off since he was born and the gp thinks he has blocked tear ducts. We have tried eye drops and eye lid massage (he loved that-not!!) so as it is no better she is referring him to a consultant. They often do a little op to clear them. They pass a thin instrument into the duct to open it up. Ouchy.

How is ds now ledkr ? I used to find some of my more awkward patients responded better to the arsey sarcastic treatment. She is a lucky girl to have mamaledkr on her side.

reastie · 14/03/2012 15:58

wiggles hope the confession goes well. Is it the same priest who has to listen through all these confessions? I bet there are some corkers Grin

four4 love how Archie has had his haircut esp for the wiggles girls

Peanut butter? I wasn't sure if I was suppose to give Alice nuts yet so she hasn't had peanut butter Blush . May try it tonight. SHe loves pizza though, but, you know me, it's always home made pizza (including the base and everything)

Has everyone had a one year apt? As I haven't seem to have had one, I'm not sure if I'm suppose to have or not. I think my new hv may be a little useless as she left a message asking if I wanted a home visit to ring her and she gave me a date when I was working, so I left a message saying I was working that date and could she ring me and she never has Angry

american Envy of you being prepg weight, even if you do still have a wibbly tummy.

ledkr you sound like a wonderful sw.

ponyo re: making different meals - I often make 3 different meals for us at dinner Shock there's me with my special diet, alice who eats meat, and dh who doesn't eat meat, so it's all too confusing and tbh is often easier to rustle up 3 different things than try and find something we can all eat. Plus, when I do homecook things I can eat I often want to keep as much as possible to reheat the next day, so I don't want dh chomping all my reastieable meals Grin . It wouldn't be so bad if Alice actually let me cook these 3 meals

wigglesrock · 14/03/2012 20:33

reastie I believe the main risk of nuts is choking so peanut butter is pretty much ok, I think if you have a track record of allergies in the family, you need to supervise closely or take the advice of Dr but avoiding them just in case isn't the rule of thumb anymore. When I was pregnant some days nuts were pretty much all I could keep down Grin

Anna had her appt this morning but when I was looking at her red book, I realised she hadn't had a 6-9 month review. Hers this morning was really just a cursory check.

Well we made it through the ceremony, it was really lovely, although a bit jazzier than I remembered. We made ours in school with no parents etc, there were grannies, cousins etc there today. Someone was videoing it, which I thought was really weird. There was play etc in the middle Hmm, telling the story of a lost sheep, which lost me a bit, but the "lost sheep" was wearing a Shaun the Sheep costume which was really funny.

Definitely a bit more razzamatazzy than I expected, I'm already cacking myself about First Communion next year. You will never guess what a reasonably normal Grin Mum I know has paid for her daughters dress? I can't even bring myself to type it Shock.

ledkr hope you're lucky with the horses Grin

ILovePonyo · 14/03/2012 20:56

Hi all,

wiggles glad it all went well. Agree with reastie, the priest must get to hear some brilliant confessions Grin Do tell about us the amount spent on dress, come ooooon... Oh and I'm surprised S is the picky one with food, for some strange reason I thought it would be Olivia Wink

american I tried A on some peanut butter but she was v unsure, must be the texture. I am back to near my pre preg weight (but have been eating like a big pig recently) also I wasn't skinny before I got pg :(. All my weight goes on my tum which is annoying, although I have found 2 pairs of jeans that I put away when pg that I fit in now - result! Like having new clothes!

reastie Grin at reastieable meals. I imagined cooking nice food with A playing happily at my feet when she was littler, but no, she just clings to my legs and cries to be picked up little monkey A's checkup was when she was 11 months, all fine they just weighed her and did her length etc. Thehv came to me which was nice!

Four4 ooh eye lid massage, don't envy you there, sounds like a bit of a hassle! Hope A's eyes clear up poor thing.

My mum is coming to visit tomo, and I have booked A in to have some piccys took at a photographer in mothercare called pixi photo Hmm Am I a big sucker for agreeing to it?! Who else has had professional pics done? Its probably one of those things mn is snobby about isn't it Grin Well hopefully there will be at least one nice pic, plus she has her party dress to wear from her birthday Grin

Oh and she went to sleep no probs tonight, what a relief.

debka · 14/03/2012 21:11

Full of cold here and feeling sorry for myself Grin

reastie you cook THREE meals A NIGHT!! Why do you cook meat for Alice if you're both veggie? If it were me everyone would be eating your special food- hold on a sec, everyone in my house does eat SW food Grin You are definitely a better wife than I am, bet MrReastie has seen more bedroom action as well Wink

wiggles gwaan gwaan how much??? BTW was watching the vomit fest that is Same Smile yesterday and there were two little blonde girls called Sophia and Olivia- are you secretly living in Wales??? Grin

ponyo what a flipping nightmare last night you poor thing, hope Anya has been easier tonight. I agree though, sometimes there's nothing to do but leave them to cry :(

44me poor little Archie with his tear ducts, sounds tres ouchy. Hope they can fix it without resorting to an op.

expat well done on pre preg weight, I agree with the tummy, wait till you've had two of them

I am proud to announce that I got my 4.5stone award last night and had a massive binge today to celebrate but we won't mention that Grin I measured myself too, and I have lost 5 inches from my hips and bust and 7 from my waist. AND I wore a size 20 top and got compliments!! Trousers are a loose 22 atm still.

debka · 14/03/2012 21:14

x post ponyo glad A went to sleep better. Babies are weird.

BTW for those with irritating wrapped around your leg whilst cooking babies, GET PG IMMEDIATELY, my 2 play together loads now so I can MN get on with the housework in peace.

reastie · 14/03/2012 21:35

ponyo glad A was better tonight. We had to let alice cry to sleep tonight as she woke up after her last bf which usually sends her to sleep and went all craazzzyyyy on us (does anyone elses baby burp/have wind and then smile looking really proud or is it just DH teaching alice bad tricks?). Btw I've often been tempted by those photographer people in boots/mothercare but haven't yet managed to take alice to one. DH talked me out of it several months ago saying I had loads of photos of DD already, but, let's be honest, it's not the same as a proper professional style one is it?

wiggles sounds really sweet. I especially like the shaun the sheep element in a religious ceremony Hmm . You are going to have to tell us about the expensive dress now Grin - do you have any of those gypsies like from the tv program going and pimping it up?

deb yes 3 meals a day, although they arn't all cooked from scratch, usually at least one of us has a freezer type meal (although mine are homemade freezer meals natch Grin ). I got really excited at the week end as I made a macaroni cheese we all ate together, and just added a bit of ham into Alices. Mac cheese isn't so good for the weight line though Hmm , and, given I don't have much time cook and never know when I will manage to make a meal (or not) I want to keep hold of my reastieable stuff for myself as DH can just have any old supermarket junk whereas I can't Grin . BTW well done on the 4.5 stone award - you'll have to celebrate with new clothes Grin

ILovePonyo · 14/03/2012 21:36

Yes deb with that Fed 2011 mantra - "babies are weird". Indeed.

ignores deb telling us 1st timers to get pg again Grin

ILovePonyo · 14/03/2012 21:38

Ha dp says that reastie "oh we have loads of photos of A" yes but the professional ones have a nice clear background with no mess and look all... professional you know what I mean. I have been laughing whenever A trumps so now she smiles too Blush

ledkr · 14/03/2012 22:26

Hi all. at nice sw comments,my disclaimer is that i really love my job and was a hideous teen myself so have empathy.

reastie No wonder you get depressed all that cooking. I am not oo much better tbh,i do sw dinner for me and dh-he has extra potaoes/rice/pasta or bread. Ella has most things but hates stewy casserole type stuff so i make her kiddy food then something suitable for Dilly.Am i the only one who still uses quite a lot of baby food? I cant time dinner right for Dills or its not suitable so i do use then about 70% of the time. Is that bad?

My sisters baby is very unsettled,i think he has reflux, she is shattered but bf so nobody can help. She is taking him to Drs and then for cranial osteopathy tomorrow,i feel so sorry for her.

ponyo I had some done of Ella dressed as an angel, they are so beautiful. Not got any of dills cos im always having to fork out for a thousand things for Ella Sad This week its dance bill 160 modern exam 50 tap shoes 20 school trip balance (total 180)and now for school trip she needs 3 pairs of joggers For those of you who have met Ella DOES SHE STRIKE YOU AS A WEARER OF JOGGERS? grrr.Ill have to fork out for new ones for her to ruin at pgl.

Went to yet another new group today,it was nct but they were all normal and not a Sophie in sight.Dilly loved it and flaked out in the buggy within seconds afterwards.

wigglesrock · 14/03/2012 22:27

Ponyo I used Pixiephoto in Mothercare with Sofia and Olivia together a few years ago - the photos were really lovely. Olivia had a lovely one taken with lots of teddies. My mum has it up. My sister is getting her wedding photographer to come to the house and take photos of Emma so I might sneak A in Grin

debka Same Smile is a guilty pleasure here, we love Nisha mainly because they filmed some of the first series near us which is not in Wales Grin Well done on the weight loss.

Bear in mind that this Mum has 3 kids, is studying, same financial boat ie fecked as the rest of us and I swear she's lovely but she spent £270 on a bespoke Communion dress Shock. I mean its a white, knee length dress - how different can it be anyway Grin.

I may have shattered Sofias dreams today, I told her she had absolutely no chance of getting a veil for hers. I am officially the worst Mum and I just don't understand - blah, blah, yadda, yadda

OP posts:
reastie · 15/03/2012 08:09

wiggles Shock that's more than my wedding dress cost. My MIL has lots of net curtains - maybe I can post one over for Sofia to use as a veil Grin

americanexpat · 15/03/2012 08:55

wiggles - Grin at the Shaun the Sheep costume. Does S go to a Catholic school? I admit I find the religious state schools here a bit Confused. And public schools that aren't actually public but that's a different matter... Happy 13 month birthday to Anna too. Grin What was her length? L was 77cm a few weeks ago.

Ponyo - I wasn't skinny either but that's not important. Grin

deb - well done on the loss. How much more do you have to lose?

44me - poor Archie, my eyes started watering when I read that.

L usually has leftovers from whatever we had for dinner the night before, because dinner usually isn't ready by the time he wants to eat. Or he has whatever is in the fridge, like houmous, pita bread, olives, etc.

reastie - we don't have any allergies in our families, so I've never worried about what I feed L. I don't give him whole nuts though, as someone said it's a choking issue rather than allergies.

wigglesrock · 15/03/2012 09:44

americanexpat Anna was 82 cms. Yes they go to Catholic schools, but schools are slightly different here Grin, they can go to Catholic schools or state schools which aren't Catholic but are religious even the integrated schools teach some form of religion so its a much of a muchness.

I weigh less than I did before I was pregnant but its no great shakes, although I now fit better into some clothes that I've had for ages.

reastie it was more than my wedding dress as well Grin. Although thinking about it I made mine 30 years ago and my granny paid £60 for it then, so I suppose it would even out with inflation etc. I'm eagerly waiting for the M&S sale, they reduce them hugely after May.

You can tell Mr W is back to work, I don't need to hide my MumsNetting during the day Grin

OP posts:
Four4me · 15/03/2012 09:53

Wowee deb you are AMAZING well done!!

Thanks for the ouchy eye comments, will just see what the consultant says. They are really weeping sometimes and I think he def needs them doing. Other times they aren't too bad. But esp outside he has tears just running down his face. I get a bit sick of people asking if he is crying. Which funnily enough he is mr chilled and rarely cries!!
Off to soft play hell in harrogate this morning to meet a friend.

I just cook one massive meal here and it is tough, eat or starve... Archie does still have the odd Ellas pouch if he can't wait and he is slightly addicted to the Hipp jars of banana custard (wallpaper paste!!)

Still chuckling about Shaun the sheep in confession. Thomas would have loved that.

Hope your sis is ok ledkr god it can be so hard in the first few (and the rest) weeks. Hopefully the gp and osteopath help. Not all talcum powder and booties! xx

Have a good day all.

wigglesrock · 15/03/2012 09:54

Four4Me I'll grab you while I can Grin, when are you over?

OP posts:
Four4me · 15/03/2012 10:04

Was just thinking I need to message you. We come on Sunday 8 April and leave on thurs 12th. Eek so excited. Can I borrow a travel cot? If so I'll get Bella (dsis) to arrange to collect it at a good time for you. Have a look at your calendar and let me know what day/time/location is good to meet up. I'm hiring a car so happy to come to you or meet at a play place etc. Yeah

americanexpat · 15/03/2012 15:04

RobinSparkles · 15/03/2012 16:33

Damn, I've missed a day and can't remember what everyone has said... [blank]

Deb, well done on the 4.5 stone that's brill!

Ponyo, I would love a professional photo of both my girls together. There was a giant snow globe in a shopping centre at Christmas and they went inside and had pictures of themselves in the "snow" and that was fab but I'd really like a proper canvas or something. Pictures of A will be amazing, she's very cute.

American, I'm with you on the saggy tummy :( I'm back at my usual weight (I can't say my Pre pg weight as I had lost a few pounds before I got pg) but I have excess skin from DD1 and my shape has never gone back to how it was Pre DD1. Fwiw it didn't get any worse with DD2! Spanx are your friend!

Reastie, wow 3 meals! I hate having to cook 1. :o

I'm knackered and can't think straight!

tadjennyp · 15/03/2012 17:06

Lost an entire post - thanks Sammy!

Grin wiggles I read that as you making your own wedding dress 30 years ago, not your first confession! Love the Shaun the Sheep story. Do first confessions all take place at the same time of year?

ledkr hope your sis feels better soon and you are having a great race week.

four4 poor Archie. S had that when v small and I was just told to massage the side of his nose a lot. Have you been to Crazy Tykes at Thorp Arch at all?

Thanks for the info expat. Dh does the frozen milk stuff so he can decide!

I only make separate meals if dh and I are having a curry. Dcs have now decided they like chilli so that is one more meal I can make for all of us! I don't envy you having a separate diet reastie. I usually ignore my IBS and unless I eat too much chocolate/drink coffee in the afternoon, I'm ok.

Well done on all the weight loss! The weather will get better soon, I'm sure so I will be cycling A to school with S in the trailer after Spring Break. I will be slim by the time I get back to the UK!

Speaking of trips and organising them. Anyone who has 3 kids or more in car seats, can you tell me which cars you have please? We need to hire a car and it's difficult working out which is the cheapest smallest we can hire and put two boosters and a child seat in the back. Thanks!

Hope you are all having great days!
