American- just a basic sponge. 200g s.r flour, 200g castor sugar, 200g stork, 3 eggs, tsp baking powder and 3tbs cocoa powder. I just chucked it all in a bowl and used my electric beater for a few mins. Baked 190c for 20 mins. I sandwiched the caked with raspberry jam, covered with chocolate butter icing then stuck on Cadbury choc fingers and chucked in some smarties. Highly technical stuff it was. GrinGrin

Four4me · 01/03/2012 13:50

Hiya!!!!!

Lovely lovely day in Yorkshire. Have all the doors and windows open ala deb oh and wowee about your 5lb less self.

blizy great to hear you sounding so bubbly and upbeat.

wiggles hope the sickness is gone soon, so horrid. I do think the girls are more divaish than the boys. Imogen is 2.5 and has some bad strops, Sunday bath time was mega strop time- all about the tigger facecloth!! The three boys were all sat staring at her thinking WTF!!!

robin I want a penguin bar too, I remembered you, but do find it very confusing when people name change, throw in names on fb and I have had it!! I go by the dc's names.

ledkr hope your poor ds isn't too heartbroken, I guess as mum you are still worried about them all even when they are all grown up. Hope the pil aren't too awful.

expat so pleased about your dad and congrats for dh's new job.

borg happy new job too, enjoy telling them where to shove this one!!!!!

Waves to ponyo and tad and em and anyone else lurking.

All good here, so great to be out and about again. Imogen is a little bit scabby still and apart from the divaishness (word??) she is back to normal.
The big boys are enjoying school and my plb Arch (del la farche- as Joey calls him) is scrummy, he is funny when we do our let's practice standing up sessions. He stands then let's himself fall like a tree forwards onto me. Useless boy, he does think it is simply hilarious so I'll let him off Grin

Enjoy the sunshine.

MizK · 01/03/2012 13:56

'Lo all, just catching up for a change.
deb Amaze weight loss. New pics of you soon looking all skinny and that?
expat was sorry to hear about your dad, gosh sounds like he's had tons done poor thing x
blizy your cake looked lovely, cadburys choc fingers are sooo good :)
ledkr aww your poor boy, I'm so dreading the heartache in the future for my DCs, must be horrid. maybe they'll work things out? If not I'm sure he'll appreciate you being there for him when dialysis happens. How old is he? I have two sisters to marry off, I could send one down to him :)
wiggles 15 min tantrum already! Thats impressive, good girl Anna :) God how nightmarish are they going to be when they hit terrible twos?
Robin welcome back, its hard to keep up with thread at times isnt it?
Cass is so cute at the min cause she is obsessed with scaring people - today at Notts Tots she hid behind the slide then put her head up yelling 'Roaaaaarrr!' at some random sprog, made me laugh :)
All going quite well in the K household atm, getting on well with DP. Apart from him not taking DS to the Liverpool game on Sunday - DS was v bitter, watching the game on TV and grumbling how much fun it is going to the match on the Supporters bus and that watching it at home is boring! He was not mollified in the slightest by the scarf DP brought back for him, I fear I have a mini football obsessive on my hands.....
Going to enjoy the gorgeous sun by walking to the library after school, Spring is def in the air!

wigglesrock · 01/03/2012 14:46

Back from a lovely time in the park - took Anna and Olivia, Olivia was miraculously well enough to go.

Funny enough MizK A took great delight in chasing after other children with her mouth wide open going aaaggghh Blush. I'm not so much worried about the terrible twos more the fact that I'll have a 15, 13 and 9 year old at the same time, to me that seems like a bloody nightmare Grin

Borg Sofia wasn't a fan of cuddly toys until she was about 2.5 - until O was born and she got some as presents Grin

Four4Me glad you're all starting to get out and about - hope the good weather continues!

americanexpat Oh for Gods sake I thought your dh was taking a job in the Womens Institute, especially when you asked for cake making advice Grin

OP posts:
Deliaskis · 01/03/2012 15:02

wiggles v jealous of your time in the park. I'm sat here at work with nothing to do, but have to stay, to get my wages & redundancy, but with this beautiful weather, an afternoon in the park sounds v wonderful.

american I knew WI meant Wisconsin [preens] (mainly because I watched West Wing tho!). I've forgotten, where are you now?

blizy I did get offered the job I thought I wanted, but in fact it turned out that it wasn't the one I reeeeeally wanted after all, as the second interview was v stressful and all about how to deal wth difficult situations and pressure and stress etc. and I wanted to sit in a dark room afterwards, which just gave the feeling that I wouldn't want the actual job. So I accepted the other one, my previous second choice, and am so glad I did. It turns out two of my current lovely colleagues are probably going to end up there too, it's a place I've worked before so I'm familiar with it, and they have been sooooo nice and welcoming, and have invited me on a 'meet the team' lunch before I start etc. so I think I made the right decision.

Others YY to tantrums etc. Claudia has figured out how to climb the stairs but I only let her do it when we need to go up like for bath/change etc. and I put a chair in front at other times (no stairgate yet) and she tries to go round, under or through the chair obstacle, and when she can't she throws herself dramatically on the floor in frustration, and when we try and move her/distract and play with her etc. she bats us away with an resentful look that says 'don't think I don't know that it's you that put the chair in the way'. Tis actually quite funny.

She has on the whole been good this week tho, still on and off sickness and no appetite, I'm not sure if it's related to cow's milk but it's been a couple of weeks that she's been on that.

D

wigglesrock · 01/03/2012 17:02

D don't be too Envy, I am off to work now!

OP posts:
ledkr · 01/03/2012 18:38

ah Dills didnt cry when she had her jabs, she was too devastated and instead hung onto me and made an almost silent heartbreaking wail. It was awfull and then looked around the room really scared so i took her out and masde dh bring the red book once i was filled in. I then took her shoppiung and fed her lots of bad things in the trolley to make up for it.
She is in the bath now with a dolly and she absolutley loves it,shes washing his hair.
No change re ds he is with a friend at the moment having a chat but will stay here later again. The only upside is that he will prbably be here when pils come, that will put a stop to their plans for a weekend mooching around my house Grin

RobinSparkles · 01/03/2012 18:49

Grin at Cass and Anna scaring and chasing the other kids in the park! Lottie loves chasing Isabel. Isabel will get down and crawl around with her and I can always hear them screeching and giggling if I'm in another room, it's lovely!

Expat that's good news about your Dad!

Blizy all that talk about cakes has made me want one! Hope you're enjoying Sky. We have Virgin TiVo.

D poor Claudia with her sickyness! Hope she is completely better soon. She sounds funny trying to escape upstairs through the chair.

Lottie has a new shape sorter (well its not new, it was DD1's but we've only just got it down from the attic for her) and she doesn't know to put her hand through the hole that you're meant to (even though I've shown her about ten times) and she keeps putting her hand in the shape holes and getting it stuck! She sits there whinging and growling at me to help her. I should remove it until she has a bit more understanding but it's too funny, seeing her get her hand stuck yet again. She sits there getting really cross, bless her!

RobinSparkles · 01/03/2012 18:51

X posted Ledkr. I was wondering how D had been with her jabs, poor thing. It's heartbreaking!

RobinSparkles · 01/03/2012 19:03

Oh and St Davids happy st. David's day everyone!

tadjennyp · 01/03/2012 19:22

Another snow day here today so had A and one of her friends round to play this morning. At least pre-school was open so E got to go!

Glad your Dad is feeling better expat. That must be so scary. WI? Smile I have family in Green Bay and DePere. Was the first place I ever went in the US!

Thank goodness all is better in the 44 household. Just have to get wiggles vomfree now! I hope ledkrds gets the health outcome that is best for him.

Don't know whether that is an early transplant, or not. Fingers x'd for him.

Congratulations on the job delia. Sounds like it could be lots of fun.

Enjoying the tales of baby tantrums. S just can't compete with A though. She can scream! Shock

debka · 01/03/2012 19:27

Guess where I went today, at 11am, with no children or husband.

Bet you can't.

OK I'll tell you.

The CINEMA!!! On my OWN (well, with a friend), but STILL, it was HEAVEN!!

My aunt had both girls, I walked into town in the sunshine and watched My Week With Marilyn, walked back and had all in all the most glorious time. Felt tres luxurious and decadent Grin

ledkr poor little Dills with the silent wail :(

robin my 2 do that too, it's lovely isn't it till the screaming starts

delia excellent news on the job, well done for making the right decision. I hope you enjoy the new one.

Now I might be wrong unlikely though but I thought expat lived in Scotland. That's where she is in my head anyway. So's our blizy. There's a big cluster of folk around Birmingham ish area, emski out west ooo aaahh, 44me in Yorkshire ooo ba gum, and me and reastie in the Naice bit of England Grin And wiggs in Ireland to be sure, tadj in AmericanLand, and a few other forriners too. O and borg in Newcastle, watch and learn bairns, watch and learn (you probably won't get that unless you're an avid Gigglebiz fan like we are- Imy actually heard someone speak with a Newcastle accent when we were at Center Parcs and turned to me and said watch and learn Mummy!!!)

Off to watch telly at my mum's, back later xxx

ILovePonyo · 01/03/2012 20:17

Hello people, brr I'm cold, how can I be cold though when the room thermometer says its 21degrees in A's room?!

A has been lovely today, she even took a step on her own and looked all pleased Grin She's been a bit clingy though - even when do got home, weird. We went to singing today and she got pushed over by a bigger boy, she bonked her head on the floor and really cried, she is so loud that the singing lady asked if she was ok afterwards!

wiggles A says mama bobo?! Thats is so cute and clever! Yikes to you and the potential stroppy teens/tweens in the future, thatll be... erm, interesting Grin

Robin aw to C getting her hand stuck, A got a shape sorter and its fantastic, we stack them up and she takes great pleasure bashing the tower down and laughing, its cute. Once she put a shape through the right hole, I was very pleased even though I knew it was a fluke

ledkr oh that sounds hearbreaking about Dils, I'll deffo be giving A lots of treats after her jabs. I remember when she had her first lot, she screamed, then I cried so much I couldn't do her babygrow up and the nurse had to do it Blush

MizK Grin at C scaring people, I keep meaning to go to Notts tots but not got around to it yet, my friends baby went and did a forward roll and his trousers fell down, always makes me laugh thinking about that! hoping it will happen with A Wink

delia fair enough re: job, sounds like you've made the right decision, pleased for you :) Hope C is back to her usual self soon, no advice re: cows milk I'm afraid. Enjoy your weekend at home!

blizy I love 16 and pregnant! Do you like Desperate housewives? Er... I'll have a think and get back to you...

I'm off to get ready for my trip home tomo. Oh A went to bed no probs tonight, funny how some night she'll sob for ages and some she'll just go straight to sleep Confused

RobinSparkles · 01/03/2012 20:59

Hope you get another good night Ponyo. Aw, poor A when that boy knocked her over. She sounds like a very happy, giggly, smiley little girl! Smile (apart from when she's being knocked over, of course).

Debka, what did you watch? DH and I used to go to the cinema all the time Pre DCs, now we hardly ever go! Sad we went to see The Inbetweeners in August. Seems ages ago now!

americanexpat · 02/03/2012 10:00

Robin - I saw your namesake on E4 last night and LOL'd. Grin

Ponyo - aww, poor A! Everything is so dramatic now, isn't it?

ledkr - Poor D, it's heartbreaking, isn't it? I felt so guilty. Sad

tad - WI MN meet-up? Grin We'll be in Madison, which is apparently the "liberal" oasis of WI.

wiggles - Grin at my DH working at the WI. He does make me a birthday cake every year and dirties every dish in the kitchen.

Delia - Deb's right (of course), I'm in Scotland. Och, aye.

Deliaskis · 02/03/2012 11:52

Vvvvv quick post but Ledkr did you say a bit ago that you have kept/returned D to formula (for some reason that escapes me) instead of cow's milk?

Just wondering as C is having ishoos and wondering if it's related to cow's milk.

WAVES to everyone else

D

ledkr · 02/03/2012 15:14

D i was giving her a bit of both then i went onto cows milk to save money but seem to be buying it all the time anywaynot sure what is cheaper it could be the reflux playing up again with the change of milksorry for no commas or full stops the pc is on the blink

Deliaskis · 02/03/2012 16:12

Ah OK different then. Know what you mean about loads of cow's milk tho, is it really cheaper?!

I transitioned C onto cow's milk over a couple of days thinking there might be a taste issue, or that if there was tummy trouble it would be straight away (like within a day or two), but it's been about 3-4 weeks and she's not right Sad.

TMI but her poos are really pale, and she's got no appetite, but seems to be hungry (i.e. doing all her hungry signals), but with a very gurgly tummy.

Might go back to formula and see if she gets better and then just do a tiny bit at a time, transition much slower.

Just spoke to doc and she didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about, but C is only diddy anyway, so not eating cannot be a good thing.

D

wigglesrock · 02/03/2012 20:17

debka I am very jealous, I love going to the cinema on my own (properly on my own, I have no shame Grin), when I used to visit my sister when she was working away I used to go to the pictures in the afternoon - 'twas bliss!

ponyo Mama bobo is less cute at 2.30am Grin, she waffles away to herself all the time, no real discernable words. She calls Sofia, Fia and has a go at saying dog. Although today Olivia taught her to kick a ball and taught her to put her arms up and say Yay - it was very funny Grin

Anna is also obsessed with the book Dear Zoo, she found an old copy of Sofias and insists loudly that you read it every five minutes and should you skip a page Blush, she is not best pleased!

ledkr am sure D has forgiven you by now Grin. Hope your weekend with the pils goes ok x

We are slowly losing our plague status, Mr W is on the mend, slowly [eyeroll] and girls are in fine form. Still having irritating time at work - they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery but not letting it annoy me too much, although nearly told them to shove their job up their hole where the sun doesn't shine today but in a Zen like moment I just waved and told them I'd see them in the morning - idiots Grin

D Sorry Cs a bit poorly, agree with switching back to formula seeing if it makes a difference - I know how stressful it is when you're worrying about how much/little the babies are eating xx

OP posts:
Emski76 · 02/03/2012 20:23

Hey all
Dela, it sounds like maybe C is finding cows milk hard to deal with, good idea to start the change again a bit more slowly.

Wiggles, good to hear health improving in your household.

Deb, very proud of your weightless, and v jealous of your cinema trip. I get excited going to Tesco on my own!

Haven't posted for a few days so trying to catch up but hi to all!

ledkr · 02/03/2012 21:15

D we used to get told to water the milk down a bit maybe try that. Dilly has had pale pooh since starting cows milk too but appetite is ok. She has very blue pooh at the moment cos she has a blueberry addiction.Yesterday she got hold of the pack out of the shopping, poked a hole in the plastic and we found her hidden under the table eating them at the rate of knots,it was really funny.Today she keeps saying ha ha ha really slowly and we went to soft play and she was really confident, bombing about throwing balls.

reastie · 03/03/2012 16:39

Hello all, Have you missed me Grin . My internet is down so I've not been online properly in FOUR DAYS, I feel like my arm has been cut off Blush . Still no internet, not sure when it's back, but will catch up and be back as soon as I can. No news here other than the proper inspection next week at school so madly doing work all day and night long Sad - can't wait till this next week is over. Hello to everyone, sorry if I've missed anything

RobinSparkles · 03/03/2012 19:51

Ah Reastie! I thought it had been quiet Wink.

Delia it sounds like a good idea to go back to formula/cut down C's cows milk. Let us know how you get on!

I had a lovely evening with some friends last night. We went round to a friends house and she did food, wine etc. I left the girls with DH and it was lovely to have A Night Off. It came to an end when I got home though! Was looking forward to my bed and was just drifting off when you know who started crying! I was up all night, got about 2 hours sleep in the end Sad.

We went to buy Lottie her first pair of shoes today. Just cruising ones as she isn't walking yet! I was going to try and hold off getting some as they don't need them until they're walking outside, but I'm sick of her losing her socks at toddler groups and they get filthy when she's cruising about at groups.

It took me back to getting DD1's first pair. DD1 was delighted at the time, lapped up the attention of the girl measuring her and loved it. Lottie looked disgusted! The way she acted, you would have thought that we had taken her to get her feet hacked off! She didn't cry but I think she might have been a bit frightened and she's really shy with new people!

blizy · 03/03/2012 19:51

Wow, very quiet here.
Reastie- hope Inspection goes well.

Ledkr- hope you are painting the town a nice shade of red! Look forward to hearing all about it.

Super quiet day in the Blizy household, I had a lie in until 11.30 Shock (disclaimer- I haven't slept more than 2 hrs a night for the past month or so.)
Dh is in the pub, I have just watched we need to talk about Kevin- wow, it was very chilling.

Hope you are all having a fab weekend.

blizy · 03/03/2012 19:54

Robin - Grin at C and her new shoes. I have been Informed I was the Same when getting my feet measured when I was young. Still can't stand people touching my feet now! Grin

I hope you get some sleep tonight < lottie are you listening?>
