You mean we have to share Benedict msb? Our LO was even going to be called Benedict, before we went for the more prosaic Benjamin! Buuuuut, given the day you've had, you can have him.

kate, we'll have to see how our LOs progress and commiserate compare notes.

Cheers plu, will go and activate; and yes, was fine when moving as you and kate said, but given LO's appetite I fed him twice at work and once on the train! Thankfully we have small office/meeting rooms that I was able to decamp to.

Trip was very successful, and feel a real sense of achievement- only terrifying bit was having the pram with DS carried up the stairs at the station, as they're so steep he was nearly vertical/coming out of the pram. It really narks me on a DDA and pram-related level the fact that so many stations are still non-accessible.

Sounds like your trip went amazingly figgy, a definite golden tribble to you (and that's completely inspired aethel).

Thanks for the link lmf, that was perfect for cheering up my OH when he returned from work, we agreed that the Rorschach one was best, and I like the Freddie too.

Glad you're having a better day air and that sounds like a good plan ref mental health/medication.

plu I think you're right. Think I'm going to have to bite the bullet & buy some smaller nappies or stick to pampers for now :(

Northern congrats on the day trip. I'm assuming the meeting rooms in your office don't have glass walls like the ones in mine then!

There must be something turning DD's into monsters today MsB. Mine had a huge meltdown tantrum this afternoon that went on for a good half an hour. Embarassingly it was when the plumber was here trying to fix the boiler

Went to toddler group in my village this afternoon. There's a baby there 6 days older than DS and also BF who feeds at 4 hourly intervals in the day and then goes for two 6 hours stints at night. I'm so incredibly Envy

msbuggywinkle and Kate, would the DC be shocked by a haddocking? if it takes a village to raisea child, this virtual village could circle your houses, waving pitch forks, being ready to throw salt and vinegar. Any by "defending" them to us, you will resume your rightful places as She Who Must Be Obeyed (and loved, of course).

HoneyLovesCake, there are disposable alternatives which can make you feed better about environmental impact (if that's your motivation; if it's cost, please ignore this idea) until Rocco grows into his nappies. DS had eczema from about 2 months, so we'v used the non-chlorine bleach Moltex ones (which used to smell like burnt toast when wet - very pleasant compared to the smell of Pampers - until they changed sometging and they started to smell more chemical). Most recently, we've used Sainsbury's eco nappies (unfortunatelu, they don't seem to do the littlest ones for online delivery) and the Nature Babycare ones at Boots.

Well doneon the outing, NorthernChinchilla. Smile
(P.S. Sorry, I can't see you r profile yet)

Hope you clear things up, hawthers. I oncehad a blocked duct, but would havehad considerably fewer suggestiond than msbuggywinkle's. I tried to express in nthe shower, but got nowhere, as I'm rubbish at expressing (too well-endowed, so extra miles of ducts to accommodate the "traffic jam"?), so had to feed it out.

msb sorry you've had a bad day.

air well done on the potty training!

I didnt ring the dr in the end as Eva started eating more and has been more awake today. However she's now absolutely full of phlegm and has lost her voice, she tries to cry but only little squeaks come out :(. She also threw up all of her bedtime feed all over me, herself and the sofa. Think I'll try and get her an appointment tomorrow unless there's a remarkable overnight improvement.

DS he say

honey, which makes and sizes are you using? A lot of fit with cloth is dependant on baby shape and type of filling. Some all in ones can be very trim, but there's also the importance of bomb-proof covers! Personally the best containment I've found is Motherease Airflow wraps, but there are lots of varients out there. If you'd like to pM me please do.

Report
aethelfleda · 02/02/2012 22:18

Ps the Motherease Onesize Dry is good from about 11lb weight (itfots from 8lb but is too bulky when they are that small) and it has an extra lining that is very effective (I used it for a 12 hour night nappy with the DDs and it wicks away the wee very well). May be worth trying one to see if you like it.
Cheapest i can find with a quick google is £9.30 on the plushpants site: click the link, go down to ME one size and select nappy type as "stay dry".

Hi all

hawthers sorry to hear about blocked duct..

Minimopsy was just sick all over self/husband/bedroom carpet :( biggest baby curd yet. Poor little thing. It doesn't really seem to bother her though. Then she grizzled for more milk but only took about 5ml so that's a waste of most of the ounce I prepared plus another dirty bottle to clean. maybe she'll sleep now. Sleeping downstairs tonight so husband can try and catch up on sleep tonight and he'll do same tomorrow for me as we're both exhausted after a difficult week. I hope this is just a blip and nor her new pattern. My plans of starting routine this week scuppered.

Have massaged, heated, fed from, squeezed the shit out of the poorly boob but still no joy. Boob hard and pink although that could be from all the attempts. Looks like I'm in for a bout of mastitis - fucking great. Thanks for advice msb and sorry you had a tough day. Keep telling myself on days like those that tomorrow will be better

I've been awake most of the night. Went to bed at 8 to get a couple of hours while DH did last couple of feeds. He came to bed with LO about midnight saying he'd only had one bottle so expected him to wake up soon. I was a little worried ad he's been struggling to finish all his bottles all day, and then he slept ever since only stirring briefly but going back off almost straight away. In the end I kind of woke him (mid stir) about half 4 and he's just had about 4 oz (he would normally have 5 or 6). He's v fussy when taking the bottle at the moment them goes red and cries a little every so often after too so dont know whether its wind or reflux or something else. We've got 6 week check today so will mention it then. I'm shattered now though as although he went nearly 7 hours I've been awake worrying! He's normally 3 hours during the day with 6 at night.

It's v quiet on here tonight! Hope everyone and the LOs are ok.

OiMissus · 03/02/2012 08:56

'twas v quiet indeed last night!
LO fed again at 6:15, and then every hour since as we're snuggled up - it's a doze-feed. I don't mind but we'll have to break the snuggletime habit before I go back to work.
The mortgage advisor is calling me back today to tell me our options re buying the house we've seen. Grin

You know, if it weren't for the immense poo-splosion (it happened on the train) which had to be dealt with on our return at 4, which took so long he pee-fountained on the carpet, TWICE, and then followed it up with one of his inconsolable yelling sessions til about half 5, yesterday would have been a total success!

Kate - you assume correctly ref the offices! My LO did 11-2, then til 4.30, then 7...how was yours? I'm just as Envy as you at that other baby- how dare they?!

Sorry to hear about the impromptu decorating session mopsy.

And that's really unfortunate hawthers- how're you feeling now? Hope you make it to the doctor's.

By the way, more experienced parents (and I think someone else was having this issue too?)...we've been able to see two teeth under the gum since LO was born, one very clearly. It's the canines on the bottom. We've had mucus-y nappies, and yesterday's explosive one smelt 'fermenting' and foul.
He's been a bit drooly....could this be early teething? I know you can get the 'symptoms' as it were without them errupting. I wonder if this could be behind some of his random pained yelling sessions?

Let us hope for a day of golden Tribbles all round!

oi impressive sleeping, hope the house buying goes smoothly.

It is already a better day today! So far the DDs have painted birthday cards for their Grandad and they are now eating pancakes and beans for breakfast. Off to soft play after lunch to exercise me (I'm sure I end up more tired from it than they do!) and then to the DIY shop to buy screws etc for my building project this weekend!

Morning! Feeding last night was great, though getting DS back to sleep was not as he has a blocked nose so kept waking when flat on bed or moses basket. Finally settled him down micely at 5.45 only to be woken by a bouncy DD2 jumping on our bed at 6.45...arg!

Today consists of tidying house as DD2 is having a schoolfriend over for tea, plus drinking enough tea to sink a battleship. And technically I should clean the bathroom and seek out an old pair of jeans that actually fits as I'm still in my preg wear of yoga pants an leggings and having to wear two pairs at once cos it's so cold!!

Hi all

Happy bday air!

Bottles washed and sterilised, showered and dressed, laundry on, tea & toast consumed. This is v good going for this crazy week.

Minimopsy keeps 'snack' feeding, wondering if her no. 1 teat is too small as she won't take proper feeds, so will try a no. 2 later. Can't continue this snacking -don't want it to become a habit.

Xxx

Pleased to hear everyone had better nights. Northern DS must have heard me moaning about him because after another mammouth day yesterday of 9 feeds, he had the last one at 9 then slept 9.30 to 2.45, then 3.30 to 6.45. I feel almost human again!
