Thanksawch for the cotwrap link. I think I'll get it.
I got him well settled in our bed, then I hung DH's dressing gown over the end of the cot (on outside, top of cot is like a coat hanger - so it formed an external shield on one side, very safe), and put his hands in socks (he was in a sleepsuit without the handy fold over mitts, and scratch mitts just fall off - stripey sox are the answer!)
He was in his dreampod /sleeping bag thing, with a cellular blanket, but his hands and face were really cold. Sad
He's got a bit of a cold.
Swimming this morning though! He shall be a tough little warrior! Grin

Did somebody mention my Benedict? I have not spent any time listening to him read Keats on YouTube, not me

Crap night here too, DD2 woke up snotty at 3.30 and didn't go back to sleep til 7am. Thus making DP late for work as he went back to sleep until 8.15.

Anyway, on to happier things! My new run for the chickens was delivered by Santa (according to DD2!) this morning and we're off out for lunch and football in the park with a Home ed friend this afternoon!

lmf, your ability and willingness to seek out available haddock in all situations is a lesson to us all. Octoboy is bound to be fine with a mother like you. Can't wait to see the headbox ( plu, how do you enable profiles, I need to do mine too!)

So glad things are improving aethel, and far from feeling bad about it, you should be proud of sticking to your guns and getting it sorted. We need a kind of anti-haddock to hand out to thread members for particular successes in cases such as this...

Soooo, how long did your LO go between feeds last night? I got an 11-2.30am, which wasn't bad. It sounds like your DD actually read the NHS purple book then; must've been an even greater shock to you when DS just grazed non-stop! Six hours at nine weeks- wow...

I've found that my DS has actually shot up the centiles (which of course, in new parent land, makes me worry that I'm over feeding him and setting him up for a lifetime of diabetes and blubber) so I'll be fascinated to see if you have the same.

Now, because I'm absolutely frigging nuts adventurous and committed, I'm going into work today. Which is a 15 minute walk to the station, 20 minute ride, 10 minute walk. In sub zero temperatures. Tackling two non-accessible stations. With a child who wants to eat all the time....

Please Lord this doesn't end up as a news item Confused

Hi Ladies

Well the airport sling adventure yesterday was a massive success, he cried for only a couple of minutes, slept until we got on the plane then was awake the whole time and quiet looking around with his googly eyes until just before landing when i had to give him a feed so his ears wouldn't pop. We then had a 2 hour drive down to home where he slept. Unfortunately he then spent from about 2pm to 11pm awake apart from short naps which meant he cried and was miserable for hours in the evening thankfully he then conked out at 11pm and didnt wake until 5, he then went down again until 9. My mum is looking after him a lot and taking him off my hands which is lovely (not that dh doesnt).

Today we are off to boogie babies with my 9 month old niece who is music mad should be interesting and sign of things to come no doubt.

Hope and LOs are doing well, hopefully can catch up a bit more later.

Well travelled, Figgygal and LO! Bet he's beimg cooed over by allland sundry.

Hopefully a late start won't mean a late return home, msbyggywinkle"!

NOrthernChinchilla, you'll be fine as lomg as you're moving. The only trouble I've had so far while out and about with DD is that I need to remember to getthe feeds in, or she will end up hungry forever afterwards, justwhen I'm tired after a day running about!

Good luck with yor day out. As plu says, you should be fine whilst you're on the move. When I took DD into work when BF I just made sure I went to Costa first and fed her before going into the office - no way was I going to get my tits out there!
DS fed pretty regularly through the night. I ended up with 3 two hour blocks of sleep so it could have been worse, but I prefer the nights when he gives me a 3.5 or 4 hour block first and then short stints thereafter.
He was 91st percentile and had dropped almost to 75th last week, so I'll be interested to see where we're at next week.

Good morning everyone

I'm in a good mood today but it may be short lived Grin

Just got back from the mental health nurse and i have got my cert of sanity Grin

I do not have PND or Depression but i'm not coming off the tablets as we cant say what the affect would be so i'm on them for the next two years as i dont want to come off them untill Hope is one. I can live with that Smile

Now i'm worried that the HV will say "You are same and have washing in your kitchen, so we are taking your children off you" Sad

I have shown MIL the minutes of the meeting and she wants to go to a family lawyer but i want to complain first and see what happens. Will write it out tonight.

Plan for today:
DO washing and put away
Do lunch
Take son to nursary
Take Hope to baby clinic to get weighted
Go to nursary to watch Aaron eat and get shouted at to see how he reacts when i'm there (will explain at later date!)
Cook tea
Sleep

Plan tomoro:
Put shopping away
Go to soft play with Homestart worker!
Take Air to nursary
Take Air to toy r us to pick his own birthday Gift
Get birthday cake and candles (Aaron's 3rd Birthday on Friday)

Plan for saturday:
Go bowling and for a meal with Air and family.

Congrats to Air on being trained! And don't worry about any accidents in future: I gather all children have relapses (I think DS has had 2), and giving up on nappies is not like giving up cigarettes, or drinking: no-one goes back to nappies if they can help it! Smile

(Disclaimer: I thought I had got away with an intact pelvic floor last time, then things... deteriorated, so I had to train hard to get the control back! Very undignified)

Morning ladies - tried to post last night but lost post and got somewhat distracted by Dh trying to read over my shoulder, complaining that I wasn't speaking to him enough as I was on Mumsnet too much!

Glad to hear tongue tie sorted aethel and hang on in there LMF - hope you are out of hospital soon. good luck with your complaint air

plu - what a mammoth post earlier - do you take notes?! It all goes out of my brain when I start to type I think and I can never remember what I have read! You asked re biking - Freya was in the pram being pushed my MIL so I had 2 hours of blissful time to myself! we do have a trailer which we can strap the car seat into and used with ds from ten weeks so when it is a bit warmer we will do that. ds has a bike seat so we should all get out together come the spring.

Meant to be doing some exam marking on line whilst ds at preschool today so best get on with it. freya did an amazing 11- 5am stretch last night so feeling pretty with it today. would be lovely if it continued!

Biking with the trailer sounds wonderful, jigglebum. We've been discussing cycling for the spring, when DD might be strong enough for the bike seat, while DS gets his own bike, or one of those bikes which has a bridge to the parent's bike. DH says the coast by Herne Bay is a lovely stretch, p[erfect for cyclng...

btw, I open an onscreen notepad and reply as I read - it's tjhe only way!

Report
jigglebum · 02/02/2012 12:58

plu - we were advised that they have to be able to hold their head up well with a helmet on to go in a bike seat - this was about 10 months for ds. We are also contemplating a tag along bike or just an arm to attach his bike to my dhs bike when ds gets tied.

Think I am not concentrating on the task in hand - back to marking!

plu don't know why I'd not thought of that, I used to do it at work...baby brain!Confused

Right, I know someone did me a fabulous list before Xmas of what I need to pack, but can't be bothered don't have time to find it.

We're driving down to London this evening, Wedding tomorrow at noon followed by lunch in restaurant and drinks etc at post apartment. Will drive back late Saturday

Am taking

Carseat
Frame for buggy
Carrycot for buggy (which will use instead of moses basket tonight/tomorrow night)
Two smart outfits for DS
Numerous babygrows (he's just started the explosive poo stage so expect to have to change outfits with every nappy change)
Various blankets (he's also started being sick as soon as I put him down regardless of how long I try to burp him!!!)
Couple of towels for changes
A gazillion Muslins
Ditto nappies
And cotton wool

It's london, so there ARE shops, but have I missed anything totally obvious?

I'm off to Ryhme Time now - hopefully the walk home will put him to sleep and I can actually start packing stuff for me and DH to wear!

I cannot get my profile to work. I also cannot access my inbox. In short, I have broken MN >< I am going to see if I can find one of my old photobucket type accounts and ship the pics to there. I'd link to my FB profile, but that's not the wisest thing in the world to do ><

The octopus is swaddled and fed and asleep. We tried to do the whole no additional oxyen thing last night, but he wasn't having any of it However, I know that this too will pass, and we will go home at some point. Allegedly...

I'm not impressed with Rocco's gigantic bottom & neither is he Hmm Also, paper liner was wet when I changed him & his skin looked quite red. I have switched to fleece with a booster & will persevere but I'm fed up already...probably shouldn't have decided to start this the week that DS decided to start waking me 4-5 times a night

Hi all, we went swimming this morning and Alistair got dunked under twice! He didn't cry! At one point in the lesson he was falling asleep. Grin
This pm we went to see my granddad in his new residential home. He was happy to see Ali, but not as happy as all thenother residents in the common room. We had to say hello to everyone ( answering some three times, he's a boy, his name is Alistair, yes he does have a lot of hair...). They want me to visit again soon, and some ladies want me to take photos in for them. Smile

Hi, all. Have just discovered that Sainsbury's Chicken Kiev and ham and cheese Kievs can be cooked from frozen, so are an ideal freezer food. I am often desperate for something in the evening, after having forgotten to take something out in the morning, to thaw in time for supper.

OiMissus, that's quite an achievement: a hard man and a soft touch!

Honey, do you think he's only a bit small? Bigger children in cloth nappies don't look quite so much like weebles. I have some cloth nappies (Close Parent pop-in nappies, supposedly birth to potty, but DS outgrew them) which I'm not going to try until DD's a bit bigger, as she seems very small across the hips, and I don't want her to be swamped, as you say.

How was the day out, NorthernChinchilla?

Is widget drunk on milk yet, aethelfleda?

How are you and Octoboy getting on, LMF?

Def have a blocked duct in my boob. Have tried heating it, using s flannel, hand expressing, pump expressing and generally going at it but with no joy. Anyone have any magic solutions? It hurts Sad

lmf brilliant! DDs and I enjoyed them, for very different reasons!

hawthers can I give you a regime?! So, rest as much as humanly possible (I know, I know). Then feed from the affected side first, using wet heat while you feed. Massaging your breast while feeding can help, as will feeding every time he squeaks! Babies are usually best at clearing blocked ducts, but you can also try hand expressing between feeds too, again with wet heat, in the shower can be good! Take paracetamol/ibuprofen for the pain if you want to, both ar fine while bfing. Watch out for mastitis signs (fever, breast soreness and redness, feeling shivery/shakey and extra tired) and get to the GP at the first sign.

When you have cleared it, it is worth seeing if you can figure out any causes. Sometimes it isn't anything obvious, but bras and slings can cause blocked ducts if they are pressing in anywhere.

I am having a shitty day. Had to bring DDs (who are close to being renamed something uncomplimentary) home straight after lunch as their behaviour was bloody horrible. DD2 was growling at her friend, DD1 refused to eat any lunch as she wanted ice cream. We had agreed to ice cream after they had finished playing, I warned her that she would be hungry if she refused to eat...so she was howling about being hungry. Miri was angelic of course...but (in typical newborn sod's law fashion) was hugely sick the very second I put her in the car. Joy. this set the tone for the afternoon, the big ones have been horrible to each other and me all day Sad

I am now refusing to allow them to paint, because I am too buggering tired to clear up after them. I will be flinging omelettes in their general direction in a minute, then hiding in the kitchen to eat chocolate. And goes the diet!
