Link to antenatal thread for convenience

Not a very good title, but it will suffice 'til we fill this one in record time!

Congratulations to all that have popped so far! Thanks Bear

Sad to all grumping babies and stressing Mummies.

DH has let me sleep for 3 hours and made dinner and looked after Snufflix...my hero!

We're braving going out for a protracted period tomorrow (and again Sunday I guess). GrannyS's 60th birthday meal (we're picking up a takeaway and taking it over).

Weighed myself again today as I found myself in some pants that were too small but kept falling through the net of "bin the buggers" and I've lost another 4lb...is this normal???

I've gradually been losing weight too. I expected it to all come off with the baby but hadn't realised that the fluids etc take a while to work their way through and BF takes another 500-1000 calories a day Mind you my tummy still is sticking out and causing me to not fit in my jeans. Sad

If your appetite is not back then you will be losing extra still due to the extra calorie requirement.

ghosteditor · 11/02/2012 10:18

All is right with the world - DD and I have been in bed for 12 hours and we've been asleep for most of it, with feeds at 12, 4, 7, and 8. Best sleep ever Grin.

fishandlilacs · 11/02/2012 10:30

yay ghost

oeisha yay to your dh too. Hope youre beginning to feel more human.

Were doing good-had a funny poo explosion expereince yesterday, took J out to be registered, picked up the changing bag but forgot to fill it with anything useful like nappies and wipes. So he sat asleep in his car seat stinking the place out in the tiny registrars office in the hospital. Went to the hospital shop, only newborn nappies which dont fit. We then went to the countyside centre to meet my friend managed to borrow a size 4 nappy off a passerby-took him to be changed-OMG it was in his socks, down the legs of his suit, soaked the back of the vest right up to half way up his back. Thankfully the one thing I did have in the changing bag was 3 muslins so i ended up giving him a bloody bath in the hand basin using a muslin as a wipe and another as a towel. I had a change of clothes that were 6 months so they looked daft. I got him back on the changing mat only to find him doing a nice arc of wee everywhere-soaked under the changing mat which was floating on the changer table. Thankfully i did have yet another sleepsuit in the changing bag which I was then able to use. DH came to find me about 5 minutes from the end of all this going-I realised you had been ages. Hmm thanks love.....

:)

sleep is a wonderful thing..... I just need to somehow reduce the feeding time to below 2 hours. The sleep time in between is about 4 hours.

saladcreamwitheverything · 11/02/2012 13:28

Well done addicted Flowers congratulations! About time!! Grin

Hello everyone, hope you're all okay. Sounds like quite a few of you are suffering Sad

Haven't posted for a few days as gone back to work this week, it's been easier than I thought it would be, missed my little man though Sad But he's been a good boy for Daddy apparently!

We are now only waking up once a night at 4am-ish, started on Colief which seems to be doing the trick, although its making James fart like a trooper!! And we've had some very full nappies, I'm waiting for the day where the shit goes down the plaster cast on his leg Hmm

Keep smiling ladies, look after yourselves xx Smile

saladcreamwitheverything · 11/02/2012 13:29

Sorry I meant Thanks !!!

ghosteditor · 11/02/2012 13:51

Oh no! I think we have a slightly poorly baby - she was just sick all over the carpet, and she's never been sick before. In the last 24 hours we've had wee on the carpet, sick on the carpet, an explosive nappy which took out her vest and rights as collateral damage, and the subsequent change of clothes was immediately sicked upon twice mid change! Poor little mite. I guess as long as she's feeding ok and having wet nappies we don't need to worry? It's probably just my cold...

fishandlilacs · 11/02/2012 14:53

Another bloomin poosplosion-this time at the osteopaths-I had nappies this time but no wipes. Grr Crap mum emoticon.

addictediam · 11/02/2012 15:28

supadupapupascupa · 12/02/2012 10:00

morning all...

i'm having problems with feeding and have set up a thread...

here

anyone got any advice with regard to nipple shields?

MissRee · 12/02/2012 12:53

It seems Freya has conjunctivitis Sad

Wormshuffler · 12/02/2012 14:12

Supa ...Im the other end of the county from you, but I went to the breastfeeding cafe on Wednesday and this week the feeding co ordinator for Lincolnshire was there. She really did know her stuff and I'm sure your health visitor or sure start centre could get hold of her for you and put you in touch.

ParsleyLion1 · 12/02/2012 18:29

Is it definitely conjunctivitis missree? The MW did tell me that they might get gunky eyes that wasn't conjunctivitis and could be cured with breast milk.

MissRee · 12/02/2012 18:46

We've been to the walk in centre and the doc said it's conjunctivitis. It's massively gunky, crusty and swollen Sad I also have rubbish boobs so no breast milk to squirt in it!!

shonnomanom · 12/02/2012 19:55

Poor baby ree, hope it clears up soon x

Ds has been sick after nearly every feed today. It's not like him.

Dp took me out for dinner and drinks last night. Was good to spend some time alone, child free. Oh and I wore heels! Only 2inches but enough to make me feel human again and not cripple me. Happy days :)

Hope everyone is healthy and getting enough sleep x

MissRee · 12/02/2012 20:51

sho I tried wearing heels again the other day but my feet were KILLING me after about half hour!!

It seems my pregnancy "dropsies" have continued post-preg! Just smashed a pint glass into the dinner DP had made me... toasted cheese sandwich for dinner it is then Sad

Oeisha · 12/02/2012 21:45

Oh no! Poor Freya!

So, BF specialist was brillant and had her latched and feeding within minutes...literally minutess...amazing! Apparently she's a stubborn madam and I just need to be more forceful, oh and not panic, my boobs are large, but that's fine, she'll cope.

My main query now is do I express off stuff still, or wait until she has developed a bit of a routine...I don't want to be 'empty' when she comes to feed, to then have to give her a bottle....which we're trying to utterly avoid for now....ergh!!!

OP posts:
fishandlilacs · 12/02/2012 21:52

O thats really good news, keep going with it. Feeed as much as you can.

I'd express just a liitle each time and freeze it-build it up that way. I have ice cube trays for this then bung few in a bottle to defrost.

mind u i'm not succeeding inexpressing anything-my boy is too hungry!!!

xshevix · 12/02/2012 21:58

Hi everyone :) sorry ive not posted for a couple of weeks, been a bit mental at home.

Well aurora is 2 weeks old now and has gone from 7 pounds 11 ozs to 8 pound 9 on tuesday Smile she's having 5 or 6 ozs every 3 hours and is a proper chunk! Hehe.

Hope you're all okay x

DawnOfTheDee · 12/02/2012 22:00

Ok...I will go back and read all the messages on this thread (promise!). Otherwise if you didn't know from the fb group my DD was born on 22 Jan weighing 10lb 10oz. DH going back to work tomorrow but my mum's coming to help out as I had an emergency section and I'm still not 100% yet. Besides that we're doing pretty well...

ParsleyLion1 · 13/02/2012 08:34

How did you get to see the BF specialist Oeisha? I'm going to go to the BF cafe on Wednesday - I'm hoping we can get some help with our latch there

ParsleyLion1 · 13/02/2012 08:37

I want to start building up some express supplies - is the best time to do it after a feed?
