Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
memphis83 · 29/01/2012 11:27

When we went for a curry last night out of the 3 girls I only ate half of my food where as the other gorls polished it off, my stomach has shrunk loads just by cutting out processed crap (apart from the odd bad day) I was half pleased I had done this but also gutted I left food!
Oh and I used the big hair last night, I love it, I asked dh is he noticed a difference and his response...its big! so it does what it says on the tin Grin L in bed, ive got loads to pack still but we are going to watch our friends bike racing, there is some sort of shoot going on here, guns have been going off for ages and its starting to annoy me so its forcing me away from the packing Grin

I might see that film, but then I like MT and I don't mind telling a labour stalwart that I do Grin . That's not say that I agree with everything she did or every policy she made but I like her.

memphis it's good isn't it that bbh?

viks it will get better, you know it will! The 1st 6mths ime are awful so you just have to grit your teeth and push through them, then it all starts to come together. I'll be joining you in a few weeks :)

dylthan you alright?

mlisc I agree with what tsc said about other people labelling children. It's like me saying I've got a big arse versus someone else saying I've got a big arse iyswim (which I haven't of course).

DH is cooking Sunday roast

viksam · 29/01/2012 13:14

cake if it helps then its great and i guess i didnt completely understand that its not a weight loss diet, hence my comment, if mylife is feeling poo the last thing i would think she needs to do is deny herself a cuppa and a muffin (like i have just pigged out on!!) -or a packet of crisps-
dh He did settle but was back up at 5am for a feed, he settled really quickly after 40mins and then me and him slept till 8am. When i came down dh was evil with d, apparently D has been awake and chatting since 5.10 and hadnt gone back to sleep, dh got him up eventually at 7.30 but because u can hear everything in our house dh has also been awake since 5.10. He was wicked and going on that he wont cope at work if he has any more nights like this etc etc. I feel really guilty and want to protect him but dont see how i can atm.
mylife hows W today, D is a winge bag and is soooo tired he just fell asleep eating his lunch!! I had to wipe his hands and face and carry him up to bed and he didnt wake at all. DH is determind to wake him up after 1 hr in the hope he will sleep tonight....hmmmmmm all i think it will achieve is a really shit looooong afternoon with a pita boy and two tired parents, dh was arsed to take him swimming this morning though so i guess thats made him uber tired.
cake what was chinese NY like? Did the dc enjoy it? How long does it take you to get into town?
memphis when do u go? Hope the weather stays good, its cold but lovely and bright here.
kk gona go to mothercare and get a dr browns steralizer, its only £20 with two bottles, i need some new bottles anyhow so it will be worth it really. How is it with you?
chu hope you have caught up on some sleep and hope the dc are being good to you at night! dh cooking sunday lunch huh, you lucky thing, my dh wouldnt know where to start i should do sunday lunch more often but dh says its stodge and doesnt enjoy it that much.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/01/2012 14:53

vik bringing up children, babies esp is a partnership and he should help you out when and where he can. I'm assuming he wasn't working today so he was able to get up. Obv on work days it would be harder but as dh has now agreed could your dh get up early just one day in the week it'll make a difference and give you a chance to catch up?
Sorry if that sounds preachy, just these dh/p's are annoying with all their whinging saying how hard it is, they are half responsible for bringing them into the world in the first place!

memphis83 · 29/01/2012 18:56

tsc wont watch that then, I read a review that said if you like her then it puts her in a bad light and really pushes her dementia, I hate the cow and the thought of a 2 hour film that makes it look like she did well I dont think I could watch so thanks for the heads up. Oh and no headbutting here.
chulita Ilove my bbh, Ive done it again today, I love it, ive never styled my hair two days on the trot before!
viks we leave in the morning, still not packed my stuff, house is a tip and dont know where to start!

We have just got in from a lovely carvery but it got ruined by L, he is so tired, snotty and whingy , I ended up not being able to eat so dh took L outside to play with his cars while my mum and I ate, we came in and he has gone upstairs to his cot on his own, he was that shattered, so ive put him bed now, was sweet when we walked in there though a little girl his age was leavingand her mum pointed to the waitress and said say goodbye, and the little girl walked up to L and kept kissing him, every time they kissed he laughed...very cute!

Doubt I will get on again before we return I can get fb but not mn so will see you back on here when Im 29!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 29/01/2012 19:45

Have fun memph, and hope you have a very happy birthday!

I know a headbutter tsc. Sorry to say though he'll be 3 in March and still does it :( But another little boy I knew did it from little until he was about 2/2 and a half then just stopped.

W has been a nightmare Vik. But I didn't (couldn't) get up until almost 3pm, went back to bed at 4pm and had a nap on the bed with him as he was so screamy, then got up again at 5.15pm. So I've listened to it from a distance today. He's been shouted at 3 times for putting things in the toilet.

I hear what you're saying about labels. I guess I should stop E calling him GrumpyBum too Blush

Never mind the blood type diet I think I need to do a full detox after the ridiculous amount I drank last night, over half of which on an empty stomach [how stupid can you get emoticon]

CakeandRoses · 29/01/2012 19:53

chinese new year was great fun. brilliant, vibrant atmosphere in the streets around china town and trafalgar.

people dropping bangers (poppers? firecrackers? what are they called?!), parading around with fish and dragon thingies etc. the children LOVED it. A was shouting 'BANG! BANG!' nonstop in homage to the banger thingies.

vik tos 38 mins on fast train into the city (liverpool st) but north london is closer (about 20 mins to tottenham)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 29/01/2012 20:21

Sounds like a great day cake :)

Trudyla · 29/01/2012 20:36

Ouch @ the hangover mlic. Hope it was worth it.

cake Sounds like a lovely day. What do you do about A's nap when you go out for a whole day? Do you just skip it? How is she without it?

We went for a curry today. Twas very nice. They have a little play room in the restaurant and whenever there were other kids, M would be very shy and just watch from a distance, even if we went with her. Today I went there with her while holding F and she was all proud and confident with her little brother by her side. Awwww.

A new cafe specialising in waffles opened up just next door from us. It's lovely and also has a playroom. I'm thinking we'll be there a lot this winter...

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/01/2012 21:19

memphis hope you have a lovely birthday! I think you should put a pic on the fb group of your fab hair to give me the motivation to use my bbh!

D went down at half 7 and is still asleep although he's been coughing all eve but I haven't had to go in there which is a bonus.

Chulita · 29/01/2012 21:41

I'm off to bed but just had to pop on and say trudy Envy Envy Envy (and I don't ever want to hear about that waffle-icious cafe with playroom ever again Grin ) seriously though, I hope it brings you many delicious, sweet waffly experiences!

Happy birthday celebrations memphis!

cake sounds like lots of fun.

mlisc I don't think it's a problem if you say it, just if other people start doing it too! You're his mum so you're allowed.

viksam · 30/01/2012 01:50

ok, started feeding at 1.20, finished whole 4oz by 1.35 inc a wind break, brought up wind easily and is now asleep in my arms?? coincidence or magic dr browns bottles??
memphis hope u got ur packing done, happy birthday, have a lovely day.
trudy curry sounds nice but im with chu waffles sounds ACE!!
mylife cant wait to go out 'properly' again but a hangover like that would finish me off right now. How u feeling today?
Whats anyones plans for the week?
Im alone now, dh is back today, im half bricking it and half just wanting to get into the swing of things on my own. A friend had already let me down for today though and theres no suitble surestart groups on on a monday and its raining, so we'll see.

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/01/2012 06:52

vik sounds like a much better night :)

trudy I wish there was a cafe like that round here, I've always said every town should have at least one cafe that has a play area for children.

D was up at 5:45

WhatSheSaid · 30/01/2012 07:59

Just back off holidays, will catch up properly tomorrow.

tsc yes, G has been headbutting our (hard wooden) floors for months now, I try to move her so at least she's headbutting something soft.

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/01/2012 08:25

wss welcome back, just been looking at your pics on fb. Looks like you had a really good time. Lots of adventures for the dc!

Eating habits: much prefers snacks to main meals, will graze all day long if I let him.

Number of teeth: 11

Can say 10 or more words when asked: yes

Half of speech may be understandable: yes

Identifies one or more parts of the body: nose, eyes, head, ears and teeth.

Understands and is able to point to and identify common objects: yes.

Runs with a lack of coordination and falls often: getting good at running, he's more likely to fall when he's gettin tired and his feet cross over because he can't be bothered to walk anymore.

Is able to get onto small chairs without help: yes, he uses his bottom to feel for it!

Walks up stairs while holding on with one hand: yes, over and over.

Can build a tower of two to four blocks: yes

Can use a spoon, fork and cup with help to feed himself: still working on the fork but he's getting better.

Takes toys apart and puts them back together: yes with Lego mostly.

Shows signs of toilet training readiness: not really, he thinks his potty is a place for stashing his buses.

Recognises when something is wrong (calling a dog a cat): he doesnt call them by the wrong name and I've never tried doing it Blush that sounds like in boasting but honestly once he knows what it's called he doesn't get it wrong!

Spirael · 30/01/2012 09:45

[staggers in] Sorry about the silence from me again, things are still manic here! Kitchen not yet finished (Should be finished today, over three weeks since they started! [crosses fingers]) and over the weekend we've had to clear the lounge too so they can replace the leaking gas pipe under the floor boards. Shock Confused

Hope you have a good birthday, Memphis! My 30th birthday is looming in less than a month, I fear my colleagues are planning something...

M gets all kinds of weird names mostly from me ! In addition to her usual nickname she gets: Min-Min, Mira, Mushroom, Sweetie, Sweetiepie, Sweetiepops, (My) Darling... There's also a collection of "My Little" and "Little Miss" prefixed names, such as Cupcake, Sausage, Monster, Noisy, etc. All delivered in an endearing way, I hasten to add!

Since I'm not really awake enough to start working yet (shh), I figure I might as well answer Cake's survey too. Wink

Sleeping habits:
She settles at about 7pm at night and sleeps reliably until 7am. With help from the GroClock, she also seems to have managed to figure out weekends and actually lay in until 8:30am yesterday. [prepares to be lynched]

Eating habits:
Copious. She has an impressive and varied appetite, there are very few things she refuses. We had issues with potatoes for a while, but after offering a selection of types we seem to have overcome that hurdle. She is most likely to refuse bland food, she prefers things with a lot of flavour/spice! For example her favourite meals are Paneer Tikka Masala and Pasta Arrabiata. She also loves pickled onions, and yesterday discovered the joy of cheese on toast...with chilli jam. Desserts also, obviously, go down well. Wink

Milk-drinking habits:
She still loves milk. I'm not sure what they do at nursery, but at home she has about 6floz before her nap and 9floz before bed. Full fat, non-homogenized cows milk. [milk snob]

Number of teeth:
Eight completely through, two top molars half erupted and two lower molars bulging. She's been fine with teething... [more lynching imminent]

Can say 10 or more words when asked:
And here we get to the stuff she's not great at. :) No, she won't/can't say anything when asked.

Strings words together in phrases:
No, not at all.

Half of speech may be understandable:
Only to me... Even DH struggles. She uses a lot of grunting, gesturing and sign language still.

Identifies one or more parts of the body:
Yes: Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Nose, Hands. Possibly some others.

Understands and is able to point to and identify common objects:
Most of the time. She also can normally fetch or deliver when asked.

Runs with a lack of coordination and falls often:
She's on the verge of running...it's more like walking quickly at present.

Is able to get onto small chairs without help:
Yes, and she learnt over the weekend how to climb onto the sofa. Helps that she's quite tall!

Walks up stairs while holding on with one hand:
Kind of. I know she can when we visit people, but we don't have a banester on our stairs - two flat walls - so she struggles to get a hand hold.

Can build a tower of two to four blocks:
She's managed seven now... We were Shock watching her.

Can use a spoon, fork and cup with help to feed himself:
And a knife too... For pushing food onto the fork rather than cutting, though! All we do is cut her food up for her now, she does the rest herself. She gets stroppy if we interfere. Wink

Will "read" board books on his own:
Yes-ish. She tends to prefer bringing them over to read together.

Listens to a story or looks at pictures:
Sometimes, though she tends to get bored and wander off!

Can point to picture of cat or dog when you say the word:
Yes. Though saying cat does get her looking round the room for them rather than in the book. Wink (We have two cats who she adores. The feeling isn't mutual.)

Often imitates:
Yes, she spent the weekend trying to comb DH's hair after she watched him doing it.

Shows affection:
Kind of... She will sometimes give kisses, but rarely when asked. She hugs, but only when she feels like it. (And normally it's more of a glomp when you're sat on the floor.)

Is able to take off some clothing items, such as gloves, hats, and socks:
Yes, as well as unbuttoned coats and tops as long as we've taken her arms out. As in she can pull them over her head.

Begins to feel a sense of ownership, identifying people and objects by saying "my":
No, she's very slow on language.

Throws ball overhand/underhand:
Yes. She has some bean bags she was throwing around over the weekend. (And trying to balance on her head, after watching me...)

Brushes teeth with help:
No, but we tend to do them for her to make sure they're properly clean. She'd probably give it a go... Either that or just suck the toothpaste off the brush.

Takes toys apart and puts them back together:
Frequently. She loves her Brio Trainset and Lego Duplo!

Scribbles well:
Yes, all my notepads have scribbles all over them now! Fortunately she's not discovered the walls as a canvas. Yet.

Shows signs of toilet training readiness:
Ish. We got a seat just in case, after a couple of times where she indicated to go upstairs (where the changing table is) just before filling her nappy. But she's not shown any similar inclination recently so it's currently just gathering dust.

Recognises when something is wrong (calling a dog a cat):
I don't think so, but it's hard to tell with the lack of language. However she is very particular about where things live... If things aren't in their rightful place we get told off and she moves them! Does that count??

Ok, I'd better do some work now...
