Here you go! Sorry for crappy title. My one chance in the limelight and I can't think of anything good and I have to go and collect J from nursery right now...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kkfairybrains · 25/01/2012 10:03

Hey everyone! Long time no speak!
I just never seem to get the time to sit down and post but I have but I have been reading and keeping up with whats going on with everyone.
Seems to be the same shit here as everyone else with crap sleep. Yesterday E moaned and really cried all day I c ouldn't get anything done and she had temp and then last night was bloody awful. She has all her teeth so it's not that so might try and get her to docs today.
Chul poor little L she's really suffering. I really don't know how you do it being preg too. Hope she gets some food into her today
Vik sounds like no fun at yours :( E suffered with colic and we ended up getting some woo cure done but it worked. The one thing she said to us was dr. browns bottles and they were brilliant. I know you said you can't afford to buy new stuff but i'd really really recommend you buy 1 or 2 and some sterilising tablets to sterilise in the sink as they don't fit in the tommee tippee steriliser. I really think it would help with his wind. I really sympathise with you
Memph how's your dad since he got home? are you still on your diet?
Mlic as you know E had chickenpox when she was 13 months and only for it was really crap timing I was so glad she got them over with. I think it takes 2 weeks from when they are exposed to them to when the spots appear iirc.
Not much planned today. I have nothing booked in and i'm not one bit sorry cos I haven't got the energy for much. Need to do a bit of grocery shopping and that's it!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/01/2012 11:53

Hey kk! How's the business going?

That's my rationale actually. It isn't even a week since they were exposed so they're more than likely to get it anyway. So going today won't make much difference will it? I just really feel for my friend who has been stuck in with a 2.7yo and 9mo baby for the last 5/6 days.

Another one with all their teeth Shock W's 12th is starting to show under the gum. It'll have popped by the weekend I reckon.

I'm like you too chul. I would happily sleep 10 hours every night given half a chance. Oh those were the days...

kkfairybrains · 25/01/2012 12:28

It's going pretty well actually mlic thankfully! Was expecting january to be a disaster but i've been pretty busy considering. Most of it seems to fall thurs, fri and sat with other scattered days but i'm pretty happy!
Yes tbh I think i'd bring them if they've been exposed to them already and they're as well to get them now when you have no big plans but that's just my opinion.
I LOVE my sleep too and find it very frustrating and stressful lately. I was lying in bed at 4am listening to her crying and screaming and my heart was actually racing with the stress of it I just cant do it anymore. She's not eating still either and that's another worry even though I try not to worry about it too much. She could easily go the day eating only half a slice of toast and a half a pancake. I offer her loads. Docs is booked for 4.15 so he can check her out. I finally got a free doctor card so I may as well use it!

Trudyla · 25/01/2012 12:32

Hey kk. Nice to see you.

mlic I probably wouldn't go, but then, as you know I'm a worrier so try to avoid any diseases Grin Doesn't work at all though, cos I can't remember a time when M and F didn't have runny noses and a cough (in M's case). Hmm

Did you solve your wine problem last night? It's a toughie Grin

Sorry it's shit your end viks. No advice, just remember, it will get better.

Welcome wifey.

chulita FWIW, things with M and her tantrums have majorly improved since F has been on the scene, so keep up hope! Have you got your dishwasher yet? Isn't it amazing?

memph So did I read it right, that L's nappies have improved? I am sooo chuffed for you!

Have the appointment for biopsy next Tuesday. Am still really scared Sad It's something else worrying about cancer when you're a mum. I keep thinking horrible thoughts, but trying to stay on top of things and not dwell on it. Nevermind.

Things are quite stressful here. F is spitting up so much and is so uncomfortable and has really upped his screaming. So upsetting when midwife and doctors said it will improve once he's three months. Oh well.

M has started to feed herself more and more. It's so cute to watch. She's also on a booster seat now and not high chair and feels proper grown up. Grin She's still in a sleeping bag though and I have no plans to change it. She's a wriggler.

Not much else going on.

See ya.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/01/2012 12:51

In my experience trudy (non clinical NHS background) if there was a serious concern with your results they would have got you straight in for a biopsy. Try not to worry.

I solved the wine problem. Unfortunately there's still half a bottle there now. It's a tough job, but someone will have to finish it Grin

So pleased your business is going well kk. You do right to do as little as possible today. My '5 year plan' is to have my own cafe. I enrolled on a catering and hospitality NVQ which starts on 6th Feb [excited emoticon] and will start talking to the local enterprise team in the not too distant future.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/01/2012 13:01

Yes I've just googled kk and it's 14-16 days after exposure that they get spots. Wow that's a long time!

Thing is though trudy it's better for kids to get common childhood illnesses at a young age, then it doesn't affect them as badly and doesn't interfere with school etc. (ie missing chunks of school) So unless you have the vaccine over there, chickenpox is a certainty at some point.

memphis83 · 25/01/2012 13:05

trudyla they have improved by cutting down on dairy and wheat, but then I had some toast yesterday and L stole a piece so we are in shitsville again, but seems we have found out problem, glad it seems to be wheat intolerance as he will most certainly grow out of it (he couldnt handle dairy til a year old)
Will be thinking of you on your biopsy day, how lpng til you get results back?
kk still eating quite healthy but as I lost my quota I set myself for Jan I have slipped a bit! My dad came out Monday and was back in Tueday for 9 hours of chemo, back in today for another 7 and in tomorrow for 4, he looks very poorly, I ended up sobbing on the phone to my mum!

At soft play I saw a girl who I hated from school, she thought I was common scum and refused to even look at me back then! she kept trying to get my attention and smiling at me, thought it was very odd! I obviously went back to being 16 and ignored her Grin My friend said she kept staring at my hands when I was looking the other way-weirdo?!

I have just sent my quite common sounding sister into a really posh cook shop to get me some Emma Bridgewater cake tins, she has rang me 3 times! she doesnt cook, has never baked so is at a loss, then she asks the man 'Hiya av ya got Emma Bridgewar'ah stuff? I swear she puts on her common tones more when she isnt at work as on the ward she sounds quite well to do! Grin

Trudyla · 25/01/2012 13:14

No, no, no mlic, if I'm verrrry careful, they'll never get it. Grin

I know, there's probably no avoiding it, but I'm such a wimp at seeing them suffer so I'm trying to avoid it as long as possible, esp since F is not even 3 months old.

Exciting about your course. Good luck!

memph So sorry about your father suffering.

Great that you found the problem with L. And even better that he might grow out of it.

I was told it would take a while for the results to come back, but not sure when exactly. You're probably right about it not being too rushed mlic. It's just in dark nights I can't stop thinking about leaving my children motherless. I think I will have to go back to my therapy, this is exactly the thing we were working on and it seems it's all out of the window.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/01/2012 13:40

Yes I think that's sensible to try to avoid it while he's so little. But mine are 3.1yo and almost 19mo so I'd rather them get it now I think. Then it's out of the way, so to speak. If I time it really well they will get it over half term and therefore E won't miss any school and I won't miss my new course!

Also think it'd be sensible to go back to your therapy. They will be able to help you cope with the test-result process hopefully.

Chulita · 25/01/2012 13:58

trudy I'd ignore what the doctors say re children growing out of stuff tbh, they said L would outgrow her eczema by 3mths/6mths/12mths/2yrs now it's probably by 5yrs Hmm I wish they'd just say that you have to get on with it til they grow out of it and not give a deadline for you to get all hopeful about, only to find yourself still up 3-4 times a night 3 years after the deadline.

kkfairy L went through a phase when she was about 13mths til nearly 18mths when she'd eat nothing all day. She drank her bodyweight in milk but wasn't interested in food. Hopefully E's just having a similar phase!

mlisc iiwy I'd take them, they're old enough now to not worry you overly but it still won't be fun.

memphis she was probably judging you for having a child and not a wedding ring Grin

L has just gone to sleep, S has just woken up, no rest for the wicked...or for me for that matter.

kkfairybrains · 25/01/2012 14:21

Grin at chulitas attempt at shit stirring! Haha!
Was there anything that made her change chul or something that just happened?
I've started her on a vitamin that is supposed to help with appetite and she has just wolfed down her lunch ( spaghetti and a full slice of toast). It's just bloody typical as soon as I ring the doctor she's all of a sudden changed! I'm still going cos i'm not going to be fooled by one good lunch!
Trudy you poor thing :( mlic is right in what she's saying and it's more than likely a precautionary thing. Still doesn't help you on sleepless nights though. Do you have the option to start the therapy whenever you want?
Mlic thats a brilliant plan and you're giving yourself plenty of time to get things in order and the boys to be in school. Is it a day or evening course and how long does it go on for?
Memph thats alot of chemo isn't it. Its bound to take its toll on everyone. It's just a bloody horrible situation and I really feel for you all. Your sister sounds funny!
E is here shouting no ne no at me...no means no cos that's what I say to her when she doesn't listen to 'no'! funny girl!

Chulita · 25/01/2012 14:24

I think she just got past it. I'd plonk whatever we were having in front of her, give her a fork and leave her to it and eventually she started eating properly. I was lucky in that she didn't wake up hungry in the middle of the night (unlike S!)

viksam · 25/01/2012 14:25

Haha chu D went out like a light at 1 and F has been awake since! I must admit i think he is sleeping too much in the day so i really need to keep him awake if i can, maybe thats why he didnt settle after 4 last night (this morning!)
I said i was going to palm them off onto dh this afternoon and kip but i forgot he has to go to work, the worst hours of the day too, 3-8 so solo afternoon, solo devil hour 4-5 and solo bed time, wicked!
kk good to hear from you, nothing worse than sleep deprivation, totally know the feeling of lying there with heart racing, its totally shite, i got into dh's (our) bed for a cuddle at about 5.30 when i thought F had settled, it lasted all of about 2 mins before F cried Sad think we are going to have to dig deep for a while.
trudlyla When does your F cry and why is he crying iyo? when you say spitting up what do you mean? What have you tried to solve it? How is M with him? Does she wake at night? Do you still have the nanny? Sorry about all the questions, im just interested in whats happening seen as though they are so close together.

memphis83 · 25/01/2012 14:40

chulita Oh no I always have diamonds on my hands, I had my eternity ring and as Ive lost weight I have a black diamond solitaire over the top to hold it on, so in comparison to her I looked pretty bling i obviously had to have a look after I first came to that conclusion too Just text a friend from the school, it was a posh school in a very small village where everyone knows your business and she started telling me about how 'shameful' she is now Grin I feel like im back at school again!
kk she is v funny, we grew up in a rough part of the city as family turned around pubs in these areas but by the time I got a bit older we had moved to a nice area so I have a normal accent but she sounds like a fishwife! we are an odd family we all sound different!

memphis83 · 25/01/2012 14:47

Oh yes and I think im the only person who loses weight on my chin and fingers but not my ass!

kkfairybrains · 25/01/2012 14:51

Thanks chul thats what we do too so just have to hope for the best. I look at 2 and 3 year olds or even her own age and see them eating loads of dinner and wanting it and I just think she's never going to be like that.
vik you poor thing that sound terrible. Can't give advise on keeping him awake as I just let E do her own thing really. Oh and your question from before I think E was 2.5 or 3 months before we started putting her upstairs in the evening. Def get at least 1 dr. brown bottle and see how you go with that and I remember being told to wind after every ounce if they struggle with wind but it's not always easy to get any up. It's so hard to know what is the right way to do things! I actually just remembered there giving E small amounts of water and that can help with wind but can't remember how old she was before I could do that

kkfairybrains · 25/01/2012 14:59

It'll come off your ass eventually memph! Well done on the weight loss! I have 6.5 lbs left to get to my target weight at slimming world. 2 stone gone! Its amazing how 2 people in the same family can sound so different! My cousins are like that...one sounds normal and can talk normally and then the girl moved to london for a couple of months and the next time we seen her she has the biggest cockney accent (which is ok) and she is sooooo loud and has all the cockney slang and everything and she's been home in ireland 3 years now and still hasn't lost it!

memphis83 · 25/01/2012 15:22

I have an odd accent, I went to a posh Northants school, but lived in Leicester, my friends at school thought I was common, my friends at home called me posh, and if I speak to my dad I sound like a brummy! I dont think I willever lose my ass, nothing I do makes it smaller!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/01/2012 15:31

memphis it's funny when you run into people from school who didn't like you.
At my wedding reception they'd hired waitresses and one of them was a girl who didnt like me at school and she had to serve us food all eve and be really nice to me!

Had a good time at soft play but D got bored Hmm and kept running into the area where they serve snacks and drinks....so we left. Back home now and dh is going to be late home so have to rustle up a completely different meal for me and D.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/01/2012 17:32

Everyone liked me at school so I don't have that problem

Well we've been at chickenpox house this afternoon. DS2 has been hitting everyone and being quite rough, seriously if it's not one misbehaving it's the other!

Arranged to go out with my friend on Saturday night the other night. Then got another on board this morning and another friend might be coming too with her friend, so I'm really looking forward to it! It's just a shame that we have nowhere nice to eat round here - it's either a very average curry or a very average parmo/pasta/pizza. Plenty of wine to wash it down will make up for that though Wink

Hope you're managing ok over there vik

memphis83 · 25/01/2012 18:36

mlic this girl tried to sneak into my 18th pissed up, tried to snog my brother then the Monday at school hid in the store cupboard as she thought I was common and rough and was going to beat her up! It made even worse by having a search online she has a home business and rather than spell the name right instead of ey at the end its zee, this makes my teeth itch, I knew we could never be friends haha! And remind me again what parmo is?

hey all,

bit hungover so not totally with it. i VERY rarely drink enough to get drunk but the wine was a gorgeous pinot grigio rose, the food took ages to come and it was on expenses so flowed a bit too quickly!

just had a friend round and her 2 DSs for a play and dinner. was chaos but nice as they're the same age as my two.

cancelled going to pizza express with my friend tonight as just want to have an early night and she felt the same thankfully.

kk lovely to hear from you. weirdly i was wondering about you this morning. sounds liek it's been tough there but hopefully looking up. well done on the business taking off!

mlic i think both my two have had chicken pox and it really wasn't that bad. they both fell ill and had about 3 spots when it was going round here and then haven't caught it again when it's been at the nursery so presumably they did have it before but a mild version in terms of spots. it really wasn't much worse than a bad cold.

memph sounds bloody full-on with your dad. how's he feeling about it now its underway?

sorry you have so much on your plate and the worry of the biopsy trudy. will be thinking of you on tuesday. restarting the therapy might be a good idea if you felt it helped you before. things will get so much easier with the babies with time - i can't quite believe what life was like when A was small and couldn't do anything compared to now when they're both off playing much of the time.

will catch up properly when my brain's less pickled

CakeandRoses · 25/01/2012 19:18

oh and re mmr, A's not been done yet but is booked last week
