Here you go! Sorry for crappy title. My one chance in the limelight and I can't think of anything good and I have to go and collect J from nursery right now...

OP posts:

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 19:12

'char gilled ciabatta with mushrooms in sauce (no idea which sauce yet ) any ideas?'

I'd do a strognaoff-type sauce: creme fraiche, veg stock, and reduce down to a thick creamy sauce. Whilst cooking I'd add nutmeg, paprika or tarrago, depending on what you fancied

I don't know what meat you'd put with it dh. Maybe sausages? Or poin steak, or gammon? Actually people often have gammon with eggs don't thay maybe that would be a winner? Let me know if you want the recipe.

memphis83 · 23/01/2012 19:16

Tonight- steak, chips and pepper sauce (was suppost to me mince and mash but the mince is brown!)
Tues-slow cooked chicken curry
weds- DH is away so the same as Tuesday
Thurs-fishcakes
fri-chipshop
Sat- birthday curry
Sun- birthday meal with family, im hoping curry again, its my birthday I should be allowed!

Got my half sister tomorrow for tea but she will have pizza as she is fussy.
DH still not home, he has had to pick up something for his dad and my bloody dad is trying to crack jokes and has sent a pic of his newly bald head, shocked me so much I cried! its only bloody hair im shocked that it upset me TBH.

L has been trying to talk a lot past few days, now says please (peeeeeeeeese), crocodile (crocociiiiii), Gruffalo (Gufffafuuuuuuu) motorbike (mowbike), he was also very cute holding his cousins hand all the way around the shops in the pushchair!

Chulita · 23/01/2012 19:17

We just had cottage pie
tomorrow - chicken enchiladas
wed - leftover enchiladas
thurs - rice and fish
fri - pasta and sauce
sat - hopefully DH is cooking
sun - roast would be lovely but highly unlikely Grin

I want to learn how to cook lamb, I might try a lamb hotpot, it's the right type of year for it I reckon.

L is so bad with her tonsils she can barely talk. I've got nothing done all day, even wee breaks were to the tune of her sobbing cos I wasn't cuddling her. She's not eaten since Thurs and this morning S grabbed her bottle and took a swig before I could stop him

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 19:17

^tarragoN obviously Blush

Chulita · 23/01/2012 19:20

memphis it's a big thing to get your head around, and cracking jokes is easier than facing up to it. We've got so much cancer in my family there's not much hope of my parents (or me) missing it and it scares me. Glad he's home, he'll be more comfortable and able to do what he wants rather than sitting around twiddling his thumbs in hospital.

Chulita · 23/01/2012 19:20

And great stuff on the talking! S still just says 'no' and that's it, lucky us...

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 19:39

Yes I agree with chul, it'll be his way of 'dealing' with it.

W says quite a lot of words but still cries incessantly. My dad even said to me yesterday 'I don't know how you cope with him all the time, he does my head in just for the few hours he's here'

I know I probably should be offended by that, but I'm not. Because it's true :(

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/01/2012 19:45

Mlisc- yes I'd love to give the recipe a go thanks :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/01/2012 19:46

Oh and words... I'd say D has a vocab of roughly 30 words and can pretty much copy or attempts any word you ask him to within reason of course Grin

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 19:56

Anyone else want the recipe or shall I just PM it to dh?

My favourite things to get W to say are 'rubbish' (he says it so adorably, I smile every time) and 'fish' (which he thinks in his head he is repeating after me perfectly, but actually says wahshhh) Cute Grin

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 19:59

There are some nice recipes on this website Something for everyone I reckon yet all really simple.

You back from Brum yet Vik? All ok?

W does this Shock -face then 'oh deeeeyah'

CakeandRoses · 23/01/2012 20:17

oh memph can understand why it's knocked you for six Sad i guess seeing your dad's bald head is a real visual shock.

poor L and you chul. sounds so draining. are the docs investigating why she keeps getting it?

tsc maybe we all will finally meet at cp Grin

i'd do a cream & garlic sauce or like mlic suggested.

i never meal plan but:

  • tonight it's veg stew and dumplings followed by raspberry custard tarts (a la my friend's fb status the other day!)
  • tues: i'm eating out with workmates in the city
-wed: might be eating out again with a friend -thurs: usually a takeaway but won't if i eat out the previous 2 nights! maybe spaghetti n veggie meatballs as we haven't had it for a while and both love it
  • fri: dunno, maybe home-made pizza
  • sat: usually a takeaway
  • sun: maybe a roast

LOVE L's new words memph!

A has an eclectic mix of words including cake, moon, star, bambi, cat, duck, up, down, biscuit, yes (but rarely 'no'!), dummy, milk (meaning bf), shower, and stuck! as well as various phonic combined sounds she's learnt with F Grin

i love that children's first words paint a picture of their little life!

mlic do you think there's any reason behind ds2's crying now or do you think it's just him Sad

just seen a nice house round the corner from us but aside from the fact i don't know if i want to move, who can be arsed? Grin i'm looking at the washing mountain to be put away thinking 'god, i don't have the energy to pack, EVER'

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/01/2012 20:29

I love the way D pronounces words, esp anything with an s in. He says diiish for fish. Boat/ bus and hot are all pronounced dub. He learnt to say 'there it is' today and hello has been a fav for the past week but he really emphasises all the letters so it's more Helllloooooo going down at the end.

I could write an enormous post about D's funny words but I won't drone on.

We need a new survey!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 20:42

Just him :(

I am now consoling myself that he will be a dream teenager after the baby/toddler hell he's put me through Grin

Chulita · 23/01/2012 20:47

mlisc I sympathise, S doesn't cry incessantly but he has mini-tantrums all the time. Anything he asks for, if he doesn't get it right there and then, it's lying on the floor wailing/kicking his legs or hiding behind the curtain shouting. And when I say right there and then, if I'm holding the packet of crackers but don't have one in my hand to give to him and he's got to wait 5 seconds for me to extricate one, he's off. Drives me up the wall and even though I ignore him, he's not getting any better. Hopefully it's just him being thrown off by pgcy stuff and he'll settle once frijol arrives.

memphis83 · 23/01/2012 21:04

mlic The word L says which makes me melt is chicken 'kickiiiin' Grin And I hope L settles before he turns into a teen, wouldnt fancy your chances of doing much having to carry an 11yo around sobbing all day Grin
I would like the recipe too please!
cakes those tarts looked very special! I also love how their words vary in the lives they lead, L has mainly animal noises and animal words, he has only said no a handful of times but says yes a lot, normally pushing something tasty that he wants to eat into my hands while nodding like crazy 'yep yep yep!'
chulita We have had quite a lot in my family, but the married in ones, not blood relatives, but losing Tris I thought I wouldnt have to deal with it so close to home again.

I bought a big hair with birthday money today, I asked for Boots vouchers to get one but they are £45 there and I got one for £29!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 21:06

Yes that's W too chul.

Today as an example, he woke up really crying hard at 6am. There was no way I was getting up at that time so I gave him a bottle some milk and he went back off. He was ok on and off while I helped E get his uniform on but whinged when I had the audacity to put clothes on him and had a fit because I had to put his coat on. Then he cried because he couldn't get his fingers out the sleeve of his coat. He was ok on the way to and from school but then cried and/or moaned the entire time I walked the dogs. Then he whinged for the last hour between dog walk and school pick up. He was ok once he got his lunch but was crying stood at the oven door before hand and then cried every time I put him back on his chair throughout lunch, because otherwise he just walks round with it, dropping it all over the carpet.

He was at creche 1-2.45 but screamed when I put him in the car to go home, doing his 'if I go poker straight and throw my head back whilst screaming she can't put me in my car seat' dance. Then cried on the way home because the sun was in his eyes. Then kept crying even when the sun wasn't in his eyes. Then cried until tea time (see lunch for what happens next) then was happy while the bath ran/he was in the bath. Then screamed and thrashed because he didn't want a nappy/his pyjamas on. Then cried downstairs because he had to wait for his milk to warm up. Then he was quiet for half an hour then bed.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 21:10

Oh and he smacked me square in the face, with both hands. I think that was code for 'I'd rather not go in the car thanks mam'

Angry
DesperateHousewife21 · 23/01/2012 21:11

Oh dear mlisc that sounds tough. D is only ever like that when he's teething and I thought that was bad but lasts just a few days a week at most. I couldn't cope with it all the time but of course you have to there's no other choice. Im sure when he gets bigger he'll be a v happy boy.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 21:34

Oh I do hope so dh!

To save me typing it all out here is the chachouka recipe. In the recipe book he lists hen eggs rather than duck eggs. It also isn't so specific with types of pepper to use Confused so I just use (roughly one yellow pepper and a couple of red pepper. I also add about a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and use a tin of chopped toms instead of arsing about with 'real' tomatoes Grin

viksam · 23/01/2012 21:37

Hello everyone,
I am back from brum, i have caught up but my brain is mush, i will write when im feeling a bit more together and a little less tired.
mylife thanks you so much for the mag and card, was a lovely thing to come back to! Sorry W is being difficult, doesnt sound easy, have the spots gone?
chu hope you get a bit more sleep tonight and really hope S doesnt go down with it now!
memphis Its good that your dad has found a way of coping, i cant imagine how horrid it is to watch him go through his treatment. Glad L's tests worked out well, did you decide to keep him off wheat?
Off to bed now, my DH is sending me and he is right to, im very tired!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 21:38

Oh and I add mushrooms. Because I like them.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/01/2012 21:46

x post vik, welcome home :)

We don't have spots yet. It's just a matter of time though I think.

Hope you get a good sleep
