debka · 21/01/2012 19:48

What do you call them blizy? I imagine you saying SCOON in a really OTT Scottish accent!!

blizy · 21/01/2012 19:54

Grin at Debka. Not a scoon it's a scawn. Grin

debka · 21/01/2012 19:55

A scawn eh, would never have guessed at THAT!! Grin

blizy · 21/01/2012 20:04

Deb - fancy passing on the super duper scone recipe?Wink

debka · 21/01/2012 20:22

8oz sr flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3oz butter
2oz sugar
Handful of raisins

Rub the butter into the flour and baking pdr, then add the sugar and fruit.

1 egg in a jug, then add milk up to the 1/4pt mark, whisk together.

Mix together, reserving a little of the milk/egg. Use a large bowl, and mix with one hand, as gently and quickly as possible. This is the key to a good scone. Sorry, scawn Grin. When you have a soft dough, tip onto worksurface and pat out (don't bother rolling) to about 1 1/2 inches (or so). Cut out, without twisting the cutter. Put on large baking sheet, brush with the remaining milk and egg and bake at the top of the oven, 220c for 13 minutes.

Can you tell I have refined this recipe over many years???

blizy · 21/01/2012 20:36

Thank you! I shall give them a try during the week.
How are the girls, are they still sleeping soundly?

debka · 21/01/2012 21:04

All quiet!

ILovePonyo · 21/01/2012 21:11

Flipping heck don't know what's up with A but she's been waking up and crying every 10mins for the past hour, feel bad bcos I didn't notice at first, the monitor was in the lounge and I was in the kitchen with tumble dryer on Sad

When she's upset and crying she won't take calpol either, if she keeps waking I'll just get her up I think.

Deb glad your 2 are asleep at least!

ledkr · 21/01/2012 21:26

Aw poor baby ponyo, hope shes ok.
Dilly has gone up after enjoying the party. She sat in her high chair with the girls having some pizza and re formed chicken nuggets GrinI am counting down to home time now tho, they have just become a bit loud. Its been lovely though, they made pizzas then ate them with other bits then they iced fairy cakes and ate them.A few games and then pass the parcel and are now on the karaoke. They go at 10 and just one is staying for a sleepover.

Whats up our reastie? Best be getting on those tablets soon my girl, you will be new woman Grin

deb as soon as my sinus's have stopped aching i am going to give the c25k a go i think.I did a week of low carbs with no result so i will be NO carbing this week have been to asda to stock up on meat and veg.

reastie · 21/01/2012 21:30

uh oh ponyo I hope a bad night isn't in store

deb fancy coming over to my school next week and demoing your infamous scawn recipe to my class as I am suppose to blue peter stylee show students how to make scones this week Hmm Grin

ponyo I think I'm just a bit fragile with getting used to work and thinking about the future. Plus DH has been off work since I've strted work but is returning on monday which means I'll have to get myself and Alice ready on my own and do all the cleaning and cooking with alice attached and having less time than I did before and I admit I'm a bit scared Blush . Plus, MIL takes on her duties this week which I'm very sensitive about Confused . Have decided I am proud of myself for getting back to work given how long I was off and the issues around being signed off etc. I'm feeling like I'm missing the gym sooooo much and that I'm never going to be able to get back into it fully unless I somehow cut my work hours down and I honestly think if I could do an hour in the gym 3 times a week it would help every aspect of my life (fitter, lose weight, healthier, better self esteem, happier) but I'm not sure if I should put this current need above my long term career Confused . That was rather boring wasn't it Blush

reastie · 21/01/2012 21:32

ledkr xposted. I just read your 'they iced fairy cakes and ate them' as 'they iced fairy cakes and I ate them' Wink Grin

ILovePonyo · 21/01/2012 21:41

Well baby ponyo is up with me, sitting next to me on the settee in her gro bag saying 'gurgh' and watching despo housewives Grin can't remember the last time I've had to do this, maybe she's upset about her new haircut Wink she just nodded haha.

Reastie I've only read your post quickly but what will your dh be doing re housework etc? If he doesn't do much maybe noes the time to start?!

Better go A is being manic, think she's a bit over excited at being up so late, she's bouncing and gurgling Hmm

ILovePonyo · 21/01/2012 21:47

Oh and re the gym, my friend goes pretty much every day and says it keeps her sane, there's a lot to be said for exercise and endorphins etc. if you can do it then you def should, I say that as someone who could also benefit from more gym Wink

blizy · 21/01/2012 21:49

reastie I agree with ponyo will your dh be able to help out with the house work? please try not to get too stressed about work next week. You know alice will be fine with her Gran and think of all the lovely snuggles when you come home from work.

ledkr I'm glad ella's party is going well, yoiu are brave having a sleepover though. Grin Is it her actual birthday today and what date is Dilly's birthday?

ponyo Hope Anya is asleep again soon, the little monkey! Grin

ILovePonyo · 21/01/2012 22:15

Oh my good god shes hyper! Blizy she is definitely being a little monkey, she crawling at top speed and climbing on everything even more than usual!

Can calpol make babies hyper?! She's also babbling away non stop, this is most unlike her Confused

blizy · 21/01/2012 22:30

pony0 there is a thread in aibu or chat about calpol making children go nuts! I hope she settles down soon...........

ILovePonyo · 21/01/2012 22:39

Eek where is that thread blizy?! Just had a look but couldn't see it.

Have just this minute put her in bed as despite being mental in high spirits she yawned, I whisked her off to bed so fingers crossed! X x

reastie · 22/01/2012 07:03

ponyo hope anya settled. We had a similar thing with alice last week - she just went all hyper all evening and wouldn't sleep for aaagggggeeeesss (although no calpol involved here)

I'm betting ledkr is already up with a gaggle of excited tweenagers at her house Grin

ILovePonyo · 22/01/2012 20:22

Ooh quiet today.

We have had a windy day at the park, and then my friend came for a vist, all very nice. A is now asleep, I am reeeally hoping for a peaceful night after yesterday, fingers crossed.

That was kind of dull wasn't it Blush Hope everyone else has had a good day

reastie · 22/01/2012 21:22

yes, it's those people being busy with their rl lives again Wink

blizy have you spoken to your mum/sis?

wiggles how is mrw recouping?

Keep meaning to ask tarlia how you are

oh, and where oh where is byron ?

We visited granny in her nursing home - she's not doing great - on loads of pain killers now and very woozy from them - feel really sad for her and worried that she will just be in more and more discomfort - it's no way to die Sad . However, we didn't have PIL visit as FIL was ill and MIL has a cold.

It's DHs first day back tomorrow after a month off and I'm feeling a little Confused about it being just Alice and me on our own again (esp as I have work to fit into the jam too). I remember ponyo feeling like this when her dh went back after summer hols Hmm . We are meeting a friend and her dd tomorrow though so something to look forward to and keep up busy with Grin

debka · 23/01/2012 07:15

blizy had the weirdest dream.... Read an article about assisted conception yesterday, plus i've been quietly willing you to be pg again so they were prob the reasons. Anyway dreamt I sent you The Necessary in the post Hmm in a jar (double Hmm). You got pg and I PMed you to say don't tell anyone it was me. Weird or what.....

reastie sorry to hear bout your granny :( You know they don't hold back on the painkillers when they come to the end so she won't be in pain.

ponyo hope you got a good night.

My girls slept well in their room together again, I have to sneak in and get S though cos she wakes about 1/2hr before Imy.

Yes, WTF is byron?????

blizy · 23/01/2012 07:30

Debka GrinGrin at your dream, now that would be very strange!Grin

Reastie- your poor granny, hope you are ok?

We have lost a few posters haven't we? I hope they are all ok and just lurking away.

Right I'm off to have coffee before the madness starts. Have a good day everyoneGrin

MizK · 23/01/2012 13:10

Hi all, just been catching up on your news.
reastie sorry to hear about your granny, it is horris to see people you love suffering isnt it?
ponyo did miss A behave last night? Cass woke up lots and when DP helpfully said I should feed her I hissed just SHUT up in an extremely evil tone at him haha!
deb how cute that they are enjoying sharing their room, so sweet!
Hello to everyone we havent heard from, hopefully they are just lurking and have not abandoned us :)
We had a nice morning at playgroup, Cass has a little pal there who is also a Feb baby and yet is about half her size.... Cass weighs about 8 pounds more and looks a beast in comparison! ( A very cute beast obv) I am still aching because on Sat I went to yoga for the first time in about 5 years... wow I am unfit! My muscles were shaking like mad when I was holding the poses, yet the other ladies, some elderly, werent breaking a sweat! I'm going to go every week now cause I want to get my fitness back. deb maybe your fitness bug is catching? :)

Deliaskis · 23/01/2012 14:52

Hi ladies,

Busy weekend here, DH working Saturday am (but C slept in until 8!), then boring shopping, then friends for dinner (and much Wine), then C woke at 6 on Sunday (after Wine), and a friend's baby's dedication yesterday, which was an all day affair. Very tired.

Can't remember everything but:

Ledkr go Ella on her next step to stardom!

blizy am both Shock and Angry on your behalf re comments about 'getting over it'. WTF should anyone.... anyone ...get to dictate how you should or shouldn't feel about this, especially since, it's not even been a year yet, how are you supposed to have got over it (I hate that phrase anyway, as if there comes a day when you shut the door on what you've been through, when in reality, it will always be part of you forever). Big hugs for you xx

Ponyo sorry am sniggering at A going nuts in the middle of the night on Calpol. I feel very mean sniggering, but the way you described it made it sound like quite fun!

reastie sorry to hear about Granny, it is really horrid to see things going downhill. Thinking of you. Also sorry you're a bit Sad re DH going back to work, but you will cope, and you know you are going to have a real think about the work situ anyway, so hopefully you will have a resolution soon.

Gotta go do some work.

Dx

wigglesrock · 23/01/2012 20:03

Evening,

blizy I will tell them to fuck away off on your behalf, I'm too Angry to use the politer feck version. See to be honest, I know lots of people who have done exactly the same thing as you did (not go to the funeral) and no-one has ever mentioned it. My fil won't go to a particular chapel ever because its where his daddy was burried from and has missed the odd wedding etc because of it. By the way I'd think there was something wrong if you were "over it". Dicks Grin

I say scone to rhyme with prawn too!

ponyo I can't give Olivia Calpol - have never been able to, it made her slightly more Shock shall we say unpredictable, my chemist told me that it was the stabilisers that could be to blame.

reastie - how you doing sweetheart?

Mr W well on the way to recovery, he had A on Sat night and today when I was working and managed not to relapse [eyeroll]

Walky Walkerson is doing grand, walking away full pelt and has discovered tomato ketchup, its the best ever!!

Away to catch up.
