Morning ladies and mr borg

ems boo to Noah being ill but glad you got to escape it at soft play

deb how many minutes are you up to with jogging now? It is cold out there this morning so imagine it was chilly last night for you

american you're making me Envy with your underwired bra. I want to get one for work too - I think my clothes will hang alot better if my boobs arn't nearing my tummy button Shock Blush and if they stick out enough they may distract attention from my big wobbly tummy although not sure if them sticking out alot is a good thing when working with hormonal boys but I'm too old and fat to be exciting in any case . borg I do shop like the queen at rigby and pellar Grin although gone off them in a major way as they mis-measured me hugely on my last visit trying to fit me into a bra 3 back sizes too big Shock . One doesn't expect to have to tell a bra measurer they are giving an ill fitting bra from such experts.

Well, no idea what we're doign this week end. It's so cold and DH usually just sit around saying 'what shall we do today?' 'where shall we go?' 'don't know, have you got any ideas?' 'no, have you?' 'no' , so we'll ahve to think what we can do. Does anyone else lose inspiration on where to go at week ends or are we just reallllllyyyy dull?

blizy · 14/01/2012 12:13

Ha ha reastie. My weekends ate usually very dull! Dh is out watching bloody football and I'm just pottering about the house. We try to do one thing at the weekend even if it is just a trip to asda!Blush

debka · 14/01/2012 13:47

reastie weekends for us are like every other day since DH is self employed. We've been into town today so Imy can have her babyccino fix Grin and so I could buy a present for my sis. Just back on from a dog walk and I've put Imogen to bed now.

expat I had the same thing when I put my proper bra on, DH and I couldn't stop fondling them Grin

reastie it was cold last night, I had an extra vest and a beanie on. This week is 90 secs run, 90 secs walk, 3 min run, 3 min walk then repeat. Next week introduces The Five Minute Run

emski hope Noah is better today, it's horrid when they're poorly and all you can think about is will they sleep through the night!

Early waking update- she woke at 5.20 again but sounded so tired I left her. She cried (sort of tired whining more than proper crying) for half an hour then went back to sleep till 8.15! Result!

debka · 14/01/2012 13:48

Meant to say I went to Rigby and Peller once, they emptied out the Mahoosive Nork Drawer and only came up with the bra equivalent of a suit of armour for me. Haven't bothered since. Grin

reastie · 14/01/2012 18:17

deb Grin to your rigby and pellar story. That's what happened to me last time Hmm . Result on the sleep front Grin

deb 5 minute run sounds hard, but I bet it will be doable by the end of last week. when I went to the gym I did a program on the walking machine (can't remember posh name of it) and I used to really enjoy the jogging bits much more than the walking bits as I felt like I was fit

Glad to see there are at least 2 people who have uneventful week ends too. We sat and watched downton abbey most of the afternoon Grin

reastie · 14/01/2012 18:17

Last week? I mean next week Blush

Btw wiggles can we have a mrw update please?

reastie · 15/01/2012 06:38

Morning, alice been up nearly all night Shock

Came on because I am really Shock and Angry - a friend of mine has a less than 1 mo ds and put on fb should she leave him cry to teach him to stay in his crib or just cuddle him and people actually replied recommending to leave him to cry until he works out he needs to sleep Shock he's not even 1 month fgs, way too young to work that sort of thing out and still getting used to the big wide world Angry

debka · 15/01/2012 06:46

Morning reastie!

Hope Alice is ok, she's normally pretty good at night isn't she?

Shock and also Angry at your friend's friends. Some friends of mine referred to 'not letting the baby win' when she was up in the night at a few weeks old. I was sad. These are the same friends who weaned at 4 months to the day, put the baby in a forward facing car seat on her 9mo birthday (even though she is smaller than S and cannot have weighed SEVEN kg, let alone nine), and the latest, let her eat a whole packet of 'Cheesy Puffs' because she 'was hungry'. Sigh.

reastie · 15/01/2012 18:32

Very quiet on here this week end. Anyone would think you people have actual real lives Hmm Grin

ponyo how was it at your mums?

wiggles getting a tad worried now- is MrW making you bow to his every whim now he's back from l'hopital rendering you too busy to mn Hmm

deb know what you mean re: some mothers being like that - I know someone exactly like that.

We took alice out in her first ever trip in a forward facing car seat today - the look of amazement and excitement was fab Grin

DH been in a bad mood all day as he was up at 3am with alice - I have no sympathy as it was partially self inflicted as he was up late playing computer games and then mismanaged alices nap times so she had no morning or afternoon snacks yesterday so he had to feed her at 3am Confused

wigglesrock · 15/01/2012 20:33

Evening all,

Thanks for all your good wishes for Mr W - he is on the mend. I on the other hand am bloody knackered. He can do nothing, no lifting - he was supposed to be off this weekend with the girls while I worked so I've been running around like a bluearsed fly trying to get the girls minded, picking them up, getting them to bed etc then making sure he eats, getting him up to bed etc. He has his own little "ward" in the spare room Grin so he's getting some sleep when the pain allows [eyeroll]. His brother has lent him some kind of handheld games console so I may have lost him to the dark side!

borg grin at "I lurked, I liked" - think this could be MN new slogan! Mr W likes a nosy if I read certain threads to him Grin He makes me answer film/ music type queries in Chat.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, off to have a catch up!

debka · 15/01/2012 20:47

reastie I know, makes me feel tres dull, even more so when you know I've checked a couple of times today to see if anyone's posted!!

wiggles glad mrw is home, but bloody hell woman, you must be knackered. Tis amazing though, the restorative power of a good eyeroll Grin

I think Sabine may be coming down with something again, she's not been herself all day today. She has eaten well though- the girls enjoyed their very first Chinese Takeaway- an important milestone I believe Grin. I was very strong and gave back the free prawn crackers Shock- easier to say no once than have to resist all evening I think.

It's my mum's friend's funeral tomorrow, think of us please :)

blizy · 15/01/2012 21:22

Debka- I will be thinking of you and holding your hand tomorrow. I hope s is ok. Go you giving back the prawn crackers! I may have failed in my health plan this week, I made a cheesecake= epic fail!

Wiggles - I'm glad mr w is home, what a trouper he is Grin. You must be knacked, I hope he makes it up to you when he is fit.

Reastie - how are the flapjacks?

I had a nice weekend, went to John Lewis today and finally spent our wedding vouchers, got a fancy toaster, kettle, knife block and a gorgeous canvas print with butterflies on. Made a lovely roast and now Dh and I are in bed watching Sherlock, bliss! On that note, goodnight all. Grin

ledkr · 15/01/2012 21:45

wiggs before you turn yourself into a mad woman remember that a few of us had sections and managed to look after a newborn the next day,i know you want to take care of him but he can still so a bit for himself Grin Dont be making yourself ill or you will both be up the pokey.

reastie and deb re stupid other parents. I have had a right week with Dills at night, she's been taking ages to settle then waking about 5 times a night then early Sad I was really tired and fed up yesterday and my friend popped in.She has 2 kids one is 14 months and doesnt sleep, but she doesnt get stressed. She reckons im too concerned about doing the right thing instead of doing what i need to do to keep sane.
Last night she was awfull to settle and kept standing up crying,i lay her down about a thousand times before finally slumping in a chair at the side of her cot.She stood up again and sort of leaned her little head onto mine.I suddenly thought, omg, shes just a baby and im trying to do all this cc and not form bad habits cos that what people say and all she wants is a cuddle.I picked her up and we just cuddled and she went to sleep.
She was still bad overnight but each time i just cuddled her and then put her back to sleep fairly easily.
Tonight she has gone down without a murmur Shock
It just shows that even an old timer like me can still be influenced by other peoples opinions.

ILovePonyo · 15/01/2012 22:02

Hi all, I have been lurking but not posting as whenever I start typing at my mums someone comes in and asks what I'm doing Grin Then I got home today and realised that my house is a shit pit so huffed at dp and did a load of tidying/cleaning Hmm

Well A has been poorly, I reckon teething but also a bit snotty, plus she's constipated and cries when she poos Sad We were in Touchwood yesterday (choco) and A cried and shouted for aaaages, no tears though, I gave her some bonjela and 5 mins later she was fine, bloody teething.

reastie I feel sad about that baby being left to cry, ledkr makes a good point - they're still babies now really plus I'm a complete softy and can't leave A crying for long My mums was really nice by the way, I get cups of tea brought for me whenever and bacon butties in the morning - plus A loves seeing my mum and sis (aww Grin)

deb good luck tomo. Will be thinking of you and your mum x

wigs so what is the recovery time for appendix surgery then?! Bet you;re knackered, hope this week is ok for you!

Right I'm going to bed soon, I was trying to watch that Call the midwife programme earlier but dp was pissing about and using the printer/blocking the tv, is it bad he is annoying me so much and I've not seen him all weekend Grin

Will catch up more tomo, night all, oh and night MrBorg Grin Wink

Grannyapple · 15/01/2012 22:46

Evening all! In bed so hoping to hit the zzzzz's soon, so will keep it short.

We've had a lovely w/e...yesterday we were at a 1st b'day party for one of our nct lot...was pure bedlam, but in a nice way....think dh was a bit dazed & confused by all the chaos Grin. Told him he'd better get used to it tho as this is it from now on in. Today we went to the park, & I finally got dh to put the bottom stair gate up (only took 8 weeks Hmm). So a nice & relaxing w/e, tho house is a midden as didn't get round to doing the big tidy...oh well.

Question for reastie, debka & delia & all the other foodies... I have a Kat of damson jam to use by march....what can I do with it? I'm having the nct lot over in 2 wks for a 'burns supper' type buffet (just an excuse to get everyone together really with the hubbies & babies). Was thinking of maybe using it for a cake or something? All suggestions welcome!

Grannyapple · 15/01/2012 22:47

Bloody phone...grr...I have a jar, not a Kat of damson jam..!

debka · 16/01/2012 06:48

Morning all

ledkr that sounds so sweet, just wanted a cuddle :)

ponyo poor little A with her teeth, hope they emerge soon and she cheers up.

grannyapple your jar of jam will undoubtedly keep longer than March, so don't worry about that! Would be lovely as a filling for a Victoria sandwich, maybe a traybake like this.

Little Bean slept till 6.30 this morning, I was bloody awake on and off from 4 though Angry

blizy · 16/01/2012 07:44

Morning,

yay to S sleeping in!

ponyo I hope Anya is better today and those teeth pop through soon.

Tarlia · 16/01/2012 09:42

Wishing you all a very happy new year!!

I'm sorry to hear about all of the poorly or teething babies. Hope they are all on the mend soon.

How is MrW wiggs? I can imagine I'd have said take a rennie too haha DP suffers from the most awful bouts of manflu...

deb that traybake sounds delicious! I might have to hunt down semolina.

Can you really not buy underwire nursing bras there at all? My boobs would be down to my knees by now, they are so heavy. We don't have much choice, just ivory or black lace, but they are pretty enough. Maybe I should import to the UK :D

restie how are you feeling? Hope you are better.

I've been signed off work, which is a relief. My little monkey is refusing to go to sleep alone, though we are cracking the 'no nursing at night', even if it does take an hour of shhh pat.

blizy · 16/01/2012 09:53

Hi tarlia. Good to hear from you! Glad to hear little z is well (minus the no sleeping). How are you doing?

americanexpat · 16/01/2012 10:12

I am Shock that anyone would leave a 1 month old baby to cry it out and shame on your friend's friends, reastie.

ledkr - that is a sweet story, bless her. They are just little babies who want their mums sometimes, which is why I Hmm when my parents say I'm spoiling L by picking him up when he cries at night.

debka - thinking of you and your mum today. Sad

Tarlia - how've you been feeling? Good to see you back. DH has a horrible case of manflu right now, he's partially lost his voice so he's whispering everything or refusing to talk completely to "let it rest". Hmm

I put L's new carseat in yesterday. He looks simultaneously so big and little in his new seat. Grin We've decided to keep him rear-facing for now but he doesn't seem bothered by it because it's all he's known.

We also went to our first children's birthday party yesterday. Shock A friend's wee boy turned 1 so there were a lot of babies climbing all over everything and each other. It was absolutely exhausting.

Deliaskis · 16/01/2012 11:44

Hi all,

We had a lovely weekend, mooched around town and out for lunch on Saturday, walk in the woods yesterday morning and playing in the afternoon, followed by Christmas dinner with my parents! C has been lovely and slept until gone 7 both days, sometimes, it does all work out nicely!

Work all shitey this morning. Thanks for sympathies, it's a real pain and kind of Sad too because I was really happy when I came back.

In other news, my DBigSis is pg, only 7 weeks so early days, but I'm happy for her, she has one DD who will be 4 in June and had been trying for about 2 yrs so they're both v chuffed.

grannyapple oooh re your damson jam, we did a v easy and fab sponge thing with plum jam and it was dead quick & easy but I can't remember where the recipe was. Will keep thinking.

Ponyo sorry for poorly A, hopefully the nasty tooth will pop through soon and she'll be better.

reastie & expat we can't change carseats yet, C is still only 8.8kg, she's still petite! Also can't afford to buy new ones yet so will have to wait a few weeks.

Sorry for those who had bad sleep this weekend, yay for those who didn't!

Ooooooh and C has found forward gear with the crawling and is now v proud, only about 3 months after everyone else! Don't know now whether she will give up on walking for a bit, or still want to be on her feet all the time regardless. She's better tho, from her illness, she's been so lovely this weekend Grin.

Dx

Deliaskis · 16/01/2012 13:38

Here's the recipe www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/694638/blackcurrant-bakewell It's made with blackcurrant jam, but plum/damson works just as well.

And forgot to mention boring but to me interesting weekend development, had a successful walk with D in backpack, she was ace, grinned the whole time, apart from when she just put her head on DH's shoulder and had a little sleep, so result, she likes it, and she will sleep in it! Suddenly opens up loads more options for us at the weekend.

blizy · 16/01/2012 17:31

Debka- I hope today went as well as it could. I hope you an your mum are ok?

Delia- c sounds so sweet in the back carrier. Grin

I had some horrid bad news today, my bestest and oldest friend has had a stroke and is in a bad way. Sad I am praying and hoping she will pull through and be well again.

reastie · 16/01/2012 18:28

deb hope everything went OK today. Was thinking of you and your mum. xx

blizy Shock and Sad . Can you visit her or is she not up to it? I hope she got treated quickly and is a fighter. xx

delia we've got a backpack baby carrier thingy too and alice loves it - looks around in excitement at everything Grin which is good as she's started to get bored in her buggy and just moan alot until DH or I carry her (which is not good for the back). btw go Claudia with the crawling Grin

granny my first thought was victoria sandwich too Grin otherewise if you want to use up quite a bit of jam something simple like jam tarts would work

wiggles you have my sympathies - when DH was ill and confined to his bed for nearly a week I found it really tough doing everything myself plus bringing up food and drink to dh all the time. Just think og payback time when mrw is well enough to 'rest' in the coming weeks by looking after the wiggles crew while he's still off work

I was going to say something but I've forgotten Blush . Oh well, be back later if I remember Grin
