ledkr · 11/01/2012 10:02

Oh no poor you expat Im dreading Dilly starting nursery and bringing home all the new germs.
Had another pretty unsettled night with her,but i do think its her teeth.Last night took the biscuit cos she was hard to settle, woke in the night and also early.Im waiting for a call back from the gp as she has had a chesty cough since before xmas and i think its needs listening to.
Dh is having a lie in as he got up overnight,we have few things to do,i think id better write a list Grin

Its Diilys and Ellas birthday this month,i cant believe it.
Pils were hoping we would go down there so she could throw a big family party but im not going as i think they should come to us,we are always travelling up there with 2 kids it aint funny.Dh is working for D's birthday weekend but mil suggested we go the week before-yeah right Ella will like that,"sorry no party for you,we have to celebrate D's Shock
Hope you all have anice day.
ps wiggs try tsking garlic capsules every day,me and my Mum used to get constant Sinusitis but its stopped when we took those.

Deliaskis · 11/01/2012 12:07

Thanks for lovely support re C, I'm pleased (and relieved) to report the ABs seem to be doing th trick, temp has settled (no Calpol since last night!) and she's much more herself. Ledkr funny what you said about being in the garden, I think that's the approach, really the convulsion seems like 'the problem' but actually that's the body's solution to the problem, and the problem itself is the fever so yes, I've learnt we need to cool by any which way we can. And of course solving the problem that causes the fever (i.e. the infection) means that goes away too and happy days!

She's still not eating much (just yoghurt and bread and fruit at the mo) but she's drinking loads of water (struggling with milk a bit tho) so I guess she'll pick up with the other stuff in her own time.

Deb so pleased to hear about your Mum, fantastic news, happy for you.

reastie glad work is going OK, and hope your class of horrors aren't more thean averagely horrendous today. I can't really help with the BF questions, only that other Mums I know have just gone back to work and after a couple of weeks, baby and Mum have settled into just morning and night BFs. She will be fine.

Ledkr that is a bit in at the deep end at work, but I suppose it's in a way good to actually have real work to get your teeth into rather than fannying around with paperwork to start off with????

Sorry Ponyo and Ledkr and expat and anyone else with poorly babies. Hope they get better soon.

Ponyo C sleeps less at nursery, and usually just one sleep, or if she is shattered she sneaks in a tiny one later during the Time When Mummy Doesn't Normally Let Her Sleep (i.e. after 4pm), but you just have to go with it, it hasn't affected her night time sleep, and hasn't affected what we do at the weekends, although I do think we're approaching the stage of dropping the second nap too.

Choc Shock at your little walker. How exciting! C is now walking holding one hand only and when she wobbles I try and hold the other hand but she bats it away. She stands on her own sometimes and claps really proudly. Still no crawling here tho (weird baby!).

wiggles yes hosp stays with babies are horrid. Really worrying, and on a really selfish note, no sleep, no OH to help, no food at all for parents, just generally stressful! Let's hope it doesn't happen too often. Is A's fungal infection on the mend?

blizy bit late but I totally understand not wanting a baby girl mindee. It's extra upset and feelings that you can do without. I can't imagine anyone not understanding that.

Better go and do some work, hope today is going OK for everyone.

Dx

reastie · 11/01/2012 18:26

delia I'm glad C is a little better . It sounded very scary Confused . Hospital doesn't exactly sound like a great experience either.

choc I'm sure alice could walk but she won't do it! She can walk along the furniture really easily now but every time she stands on her own she has to hold something before she will take a step. Go R though - she was an early crawler too wasn't she?

deb is it weigh in tonight or have I got that wrong?

ledkr do what you and DH want to do with Dilly and Ellas bday and sod pil . I guess at least in the future you'll get both the birthdays out at the same time (although alot of expense for you straight after christmas Hmm )

american get well soon

blizy I take it the mucky boy you had to clean up wasn't DH Shock Wink

Well, Alice was up at 4 this morning so am v tired now. School was so so. I got through the class of horrors without raising my voice at all Grin and demoed how to make sausage rolls to my year 9 group ready for cooking them next week and luckily they turned out OK (always worry when I have to show how to make things incase it all goes hideously wrong Grin ). However, no idea how I'm going to do all my work in general - have been staying longer than my hours all week so far, today an hour extra and then spent 2 hours this afternoon at home going through things. I won't be able to do that when DH is back to work. I feel like my life will be working, trying to get work done at home or cooking/cleaning ready for being organised for work Confused . Had a little cry about it this afternoon Blush

blizy · 11/01/2012 18:51

Ah reastie- you will soon get settled into a new routine with work and home life. Just make sure you have some time to yourself!

Dh just made some dinner it was yum, I had fajitas and some salad. Early night for me too, I'm not sleeping so well again. Have been awake until 4am for the past week or so. Bath and bed for me now.Grin

Have a good night allSmile

chocoroo · 11/01/2012 19:57

So, I kind of caught up but you'll have to forgive me if I forget stuff. I have been around but had to devote MN time to the feedback on the car we had over Christmas. It's gone now so I'll be back!

delia So glad C is on the mend. Well done you for staying calm and getting the help she needed. I'm terrified whenever R coughs so who knows what I would have done in your place!

deb Fab news for your mum. She was lovely on the meet up. How much weight have you lost now? I was supposed to start this week but the bug has got in the way although I hope that means I've lost some anyway

reastie It sounds to me like you're doing well at work. You'll be amazed how quickly you'll fall back into it. And as for getting everything done, I'd say it's about reprioritising, some stuff has become less important to me. Mainly housework but I guess I am a slattern.

ledkr Am pmsl at PIL thinking you should use E's birthday weekend so they can celebrate D's. We're having a very small tea party and will probably go to soft play with our mates. Also doing soft play as a joint thing with NCT group.

ponyo R sometimes only sleeps half an hour at nursery and certainly only has one nap. She still has a couple at weekends though. She is weird.

blizy Boo to the insomnia. I was up at 4am, we should have had a chat!

R is still toddling around. I thought she might have forgotten but she is doing lots of little walks. She has also started the standing and clapping thing - she thinks she is te absolute bees knees. Who asked of she was an early crawler? Yep, she was too. Not a moments peace round here! All I get now is a baby following me shouting HIYA!!!!
Right. Need to sort my dinner, DP is still ill so none for him, then I'm off to bed. Have an all day meeting tomorrow Down South so have to leave at 7am.

Emski76 · 11/01/2012 20:17

Hi all, trying to catch up
Chic, can't believe R is walking. Less than a year ago these babies were in our tummies and now their walking, talking and clapping. Incredible!

Sounds like work hasnt gone too bad for pur returners to work. Ledkr, they have thrown you straight in haven't they?! Reastie, lufe us chaos when working with little ones. Ive just had to write myself a scheduled diary to stick on the inside of a kitchen cupboard so I can keep up on housework, shopping etc. it takes a while but you will get there.

Noah slept for 3 hours at nursery today!! They were shocked! Luckily he made to lunch time. But he had two half hour naps n Monday! I think he's getting ready to give up his morning nap but sometimes can't quite make it.

I've had the day from hell at work today. We've had a new system put in this week so everyone's stressed. I've spent the last two days data entering so am way behind in my job. Also things came to a head between me and a woman that I just don't get on with, we argued in the office, the one of my bosses followed me into the kitchen and I broke down in tears and told him exactly how I feel and how it's been bad for so long with her. He knows what she's like and knows we've had issues in the past but I've seriously had enough. She is constantly biting at me and talking to me like I'm a piece of crap, and I've taken it for years. He brought her into the kitchen and we had it out. She got upset and I got upset but hopefully we've now put a line under it and can move on. Dreading facing her on Monday though, I know she can't stand me, for whatever reason, and I don't think she'll change much but at least my bosses know exactly how I feel now.

Sorry for the me, me, me post. Love you all and hope your all ok....yep I've had wine!

Four4me · 11/01/2012 20:20

Wow so much going on, glad the poorly babies are better. Hope dilly is ok too.

Glad ledkr and reastie return to work has gone well.

Great news about R walking choc they are so cute toddling about. Archie is miles off yet, just speedy crawling and cruising on furniture.

blizy hope you have a good nights rest. A friend of mine has had twins this year so I have been handing on all my boys stuff and all the equipment as I've finished with it bumbo, bath seat etc etc. Anyway she keeps saying she wants to give me some money for it, I keep refusing, it is well used and I am too lazy to eBay etc. Well today she forced me to take some money for it all. I felt really embarrassed about it so have split the money and donated it to the 'downs syndrome assossiation' for Thomas and to 'Tommy's' for research into premature and still birth in memory of Zoe. Thought you'd like to know. X

chocoroo · 11/01/2012 20:38

Four4 What a lovely thought for Zoe. You've brought a tear to my eye.

emski It's so good to get things out in the open at work although it must have been horrible. IME, people who are cows at work tend to have no friends and are saddoes in real life :)

ledkr · 11/01/2012 21:00

Ah ems poor you, glad its sorted a bit now,its horrible.I am working about 3 feet away from an ex colleague whom i complained about.I was worried but couldnt care less now,im in the right, she was cruel to the kids and i bloody told the bosses, ive worked with vulnerable people all my life and have managed never to be cruel so so should she Grin "bastard"

Saw gp,Dills hasnt got a chest inf but has been a right whinger today, wouldnt be put down at all,not for a second, luckily i had dh with me but it was trying.
God only knows what kind of night we will have, shes coughing a lot and is croupy, the dr gave me steroids for her but im not giving them to her,ill just sit in the steamy bathroom.

ILovePonyo · 11/01/2012 21:33

Hi all,

emski Hmm and Angry about your bitch colleague, try not to worry about it too much now, there will always be one saddo who can't be nice, ignore if you can!

delia glad C is on the mend :)

ledkr hope Dilly feels better soon - a lot of the babis are getting poory aren't they?! If its any reassurance I was expecting A to be ill all the time when she started nursery but no, a few instances but nothing like what I was imagining. Hopefully she is like me and rarely gets ill!

reastie hopefully in a couple of weeks you'll be in a routine of managing work and home, sounds daunting though. Just try not to let it worry you too much?

Hi everyone else, I am shattered and forgetful so can't reply to all. A is fine but we had a major choking incident earlier, I gave her some dried cranberries which were (with hindsight) a bit big, she properly choked and dp had to hold her almost upside down whilst I whacked her on the back. Dp said afterwards 'I'm glad you were there, I wouldn't have known what to do' despite me telling him many times in the past what to do if a baby chokes Hmm

AM off to bed soon as A was awake at 5 and had an early night - night all xx

WeAreBorg · 11/01/2012 22:58

Evening all,

Quick post as N is still awake and wandering about, have skim read and now forgotten everything except for being terrified for delia and pleased for debkas mum. Really glad Claudia is getting better, I would have been beside myself.
ponyo well done re the choking, I know what to do but wonder if I would be together enough to actually know what to do if anything happened.

Sorry for crappy short post, N is completely obsessed with my laptop so if he's awake I can't really write much as he wants to "help". He also rang my mobile from the house phone today, and can turn the telly on using the remote. This is usually one of the first things he does when we visit someone too. Naturally he hates all his soft toys and chucks them behind his back in disgust if I give him one Confused

I think ledkr and choco mentioned 1st birthdays, what's everyone doing? I want a little gathering but it's difficult to not invite people if other people have been invited IYSWIM

debka · 12/01/2012 06:20

borg was just thinking about you, glad all is well.

emski really hope you've cleared the air with your colleague, it's grim when it's like that.

Bloody hell the big one's just woken up, an hour earlier than usual. Bugger bugger.

Back later hopefully xxx

blizy · 12/01/2012 08:25

44me-,what a beautiful thing to do, thank you so much!

Reastie I'm glad you cope well yesterday, onwards and upwards!

I hope all the poorly babies are feeling better. Have a good day everyone. Smile

debka · 12/01/2012 09:17

Back now- the little one's in bed, the big one's at my aunt's. She is one tired girl though, don't know why she woke so early, been whinge whinge whinge all morning.

ponyo bloody scary choking, well done for responding so well and quickly.

borg I think I'll just invite family over for cake on S's birthday, and try and not let Imy monopolise it totally Grin

I've lost 3st 3lb so far and have dropped 2 dress sizes!

Had good news from my sis this week too, she had a high risk for Downs result (1:89), so went to the Fetal Medical Centre in London for an appointment with super duper Dr Someone, a detailed scan, and possible amnio. Scan showed what seems to be a healthy normal baby so they didn't have amnio and she feels like she can relax and enjoy the pg. She wouldn't have terminated if it did have Downs, but just wanted to know one way or the other.

Other sis is struggling, she's 7 weeks pg (much to sis1's disgust, stealing her glory!), and horribly, horribly sick. Off work this week and been prescribed some anti emetics by the dr. Bless her, she doesn't know that much about pg (only 24) and is worrying about everything- that the baby will be harmed by her being sick/taking anti emetics/taking paracetamol, or that she'll be sacked for being signed off sick. I spent the evening with her last night doing some reassuring.

Hope all well today and the babies are good too xxx

Deliaskis · 12/01/2012 09:26

Morning ladies, I am Grin today as I have my smiley happy little girl back. She's just...well... normal this morning, babbling away and giggling and grinning and stuff.

Borg we have the same dilemma re C's 1st birthday. I don't really want a big thing really as C won't know what's going on, but people seem to sort of expect it, and obviously we want to do something as opposed to nothing at all....hmmmmm......also have dilemma re presents.

Ponyo Shock re choking incident, it's so scary when these things happen, and even if you know what you should do in these situations, it's hard not to panic and forget it completely. Glad all is OK now tho.

Emski sorry about bad situ re work colleague but hopefully things might improve now it has all been aired.

Ledkr poor Dilly with her coughing etc. it seems like she's had this for a while poor thing.

We have a bit of a stressy week at work this week, 2 people have been made redundant Sad and the rest of us have had to take a paycut. It's not unexpected as the company is really struggling at the moment, but it's still Sad when it happens. I would normally be looking for another job in this situ (for security, in case the whole company goes under), but my maternity deal means I can't hand in my notice for 12 months, so I'm a bit stuck, and at the mercy of the company until August.

Anyway, that's all really boring so I'm off to try and make at least a leetle bit of cash today....

Dx

Grannyapple · 12/01/2012 09:39

Hi ladies...sorry to hear of horrid work colleagues , pay cuts & scary illnesses with the babies & yeah to deb's mum getting the all clear. And what a lovely thing to do 44me re:donations!

Re:birthday parties...wasn't going to do one but have now decided to fly back up to Glasgow for that w/e so Nate can see rest of the family. It is now looking like a big party but wasn't the intention...have said to people we'll be at MIL's for the afternoon & it would be great to see people...turns out most have said yes Smile. Have now put sis & MIL in charge of catering Grin.

At work & have meetings all morning so must dash....but hope everyone has a good day x.

americanexpat · 12/01/2012 11:11

Ponyo - how terrifying! I know what to do but worry I'd panic and forget.

44me - I got a bit teary reading that too. Blush How lovely.

Delia - Sad at your job situation. Have you had a look at other jobs, just in case?

Borg - L loves the phone too, he dialed 996 one time. Shock He now has a decoy phone to play with.

Not sure what we're doing for L's birthday. We may have a few people over but nothing big. We got him this ride-on when it was marked down to £20 after Christmas at Toys r Us.

I think L is stopping bfing. He's not wanted to feed since he started nursery, even during the night. I'm feeling a bit sad about it. Sad

wigglesrock · 12/01/2012 11:48

Morning, just a quick check-in, high drama in Wiggles house, will explain in a min but first :

debka delighted, really over the moon for your Mum, a big hug for you all including your sisters.

Borg A loves to help with the computer as well Hmm but she really likes to start the washing machine just as its finished but before I've taken the washing out!!

I went to see my friends baby yesterday or should that be my new goddaughter Grin. She's absolutely beautiful but at only 6lb2 as light as one of As teddys. My sister is due in 3 weeks so she's getting v excited now.

Anna is much better thanks, but Mr W had an emergency appendectomy last night. He came home from work on Tue morning and couldn't sleep because of the pain so went down to A&E in the evening, was transferred to the "serious" hospital and got squeezed in yesterday evening. I had told him to take some Rennies on Tue afternoon Blush (so deliaskis please banish all guilt re C Grin)

He is doing well, the actually appendix was fecked for want of a better word, so thankfully it was caught early enough. Borg I think your dh is an emergency consultant, give him a big hug from me, Drs were fab. Off to see him, only saw him for 5 mins last night after. He spent his time waiting in A&E before the operation so it was difficult to see him and arrange childcare etc.

Four4me · 12/01/2012 12:56

Quick post as I should be getting lunch sorted.
I woke in the night and realised I forgot to say to deb in last nights post so delighted about your mum, you all must be over the moon. Lovely news about both sisters expecting and screening results, such a relief to know all is good. Grin about one stealing the other glory, that sisters for you......

Poor mrWiggles hope he makes a super speedy recover, what a nightmare. X

Back tonight after first boxercise class arrrrr.........

blizy · 12/01/2012 13:32

wiggles poor Mr W, I hope he has a fast recovery. Must have been super scarey for you both. Hope you are ok? Wow, can't believe your sister only has 3 weeks left! Oh and congratultions on being a Godmother. Grin

reastie · 12/01/2012 13:55

wiggles poor mrw and Shock and Grin at you telling him to take rennies before you realised Wink . Your sisters pregnancy has gone alot quicker than mine seemed to Wink . ledkr how long has your sister got? deb poor your sister being so sick - she really has my sympathies as I had a horrible time on that front and it is truly horrid - I would have punched anyone who told me ginger biscuits would help like I hadn't tried that Angry

Well, Alice banged her mouth earlier on the bath and DH came squealing over to me in a panicky voice announcing 'she's bleeding, she's bleeding' like he had no idea what to do Hmm . She was fine btw - just a little cut, but it made me feel alot less pfb (and dh alot more pfb Grin )

Got alices new car seat for dm/mils car once DH back to work -we got a britax ?duo? - thanks choc for the recommendation. Just hoping MIL can work out how to clip it in and out of her car or it will be an excuse not to take alice to the baby class I've lined up for her.

Alice up in the night again last night - anyone with Los in nursery find they woke up at night more when they went back to work? I'm wondering if she's just a bit unsettled by this and wakes up for a cuddle Hmm

deb when is imy back to nursery?

four4 good luck with the boxercise

Deliaskis · 12/01/2012 13:56

Oh wiggles poor Mr W, what a trauma. Hope he makes a speedy recovery. Hope you and the girls are OK. So...what you're saying...is that there actually are some medical conditions that are neither teething (babies) or fixable with Rennies (adults, obv)? Shock.

Deb also Grin re sisters and thunder-stealing, that's families for you isn't it? Hope the poorly sister gets well soon.

Dx

Emski76 · 12/01/2012 14:15

Wiggles, poor Mr W! I had a rumbling appendix a few years ago and used to get an 'attack' every few weeks until it was finally taken out and I have to say it was almost worse than labours pains! Hope he's recovered soon.

Debk when my sis and I discovered we were due our babies on the same day, my first thought was that she was stealing my thunder! Your poor little sister sounds like she's really struggling. Pleased for your mum too having the three month all clear.

Reastie, I think Noah was a little less settled after first starting starting nursery but soon got over it. Hope work is going ok.

Delia, sorry about your work situation, how horrible!

Ponyo, how scary about the choking. I know what to do if that happens but don't know if the 'instinct' would kick in.

Re: first birthdays. We're having a small joint party with my neice and nephew at my sisters and one at my in laws for dh family. I've bought Noah an animal hopper and some other little bits, we've got some stuff in the loft too that used to be Ben's.

Watching Arisocats with Ben and mil while Noah sleeps. Nan in law and dh aunts are coming by in a while to see the boys and dh is back home tonight! Yippee!

debka · 12/01/2012 19:24

Bloody hell wiggs that's dramatic, glad he's ok. Is he home now?

reastie Imy's never been to nursery, we just went to visit one this week. She'll start when she gets her free hours in April.

expat :( to L giving up bfing, I was sad for about 10 minutes when S did. She is fine and dandy on cows' milk now though. Does L have formula?

Little sis took the anti emetics this morning and was looking a lot brighter when I left her at lunchtime, a relief for all concerned Grin

Rest day today but I wish I was out for a run wtf??

Emski76 · 12/01/2012 19:54

Just wanted to pop on to tell you all this it's mine and dh's tenth anniversary today of when we met and he's bought me loads of Cath Kidston stuff. A shopping bag, purse, hand care kit and smellies bag! He's the greatest (for now).
