debka Grin may have peed myself a little : totey = small, Brona = name, usually spelt Bronagh.

Wish your Mum good luck, will say a prayer tonight. My nana is ill at the minute and refusing to go to the Dr etc, which is of course her right, but its really hard for my Mum. She isn't receiving treatment any more but my Mum just wants her to be practical about pain relief, what she can still do etc, she still lives alone so its a huge worry.

grannyapple agree with blizy, let us know about the run and we'll sponsor, the power of Mumsnet Grin

ledkr and reastie glad your days went well, kick your bosses arse ledkr - TOIL is not the same as travel time Angry

Four4Me glad all went well for your friend, think mine is home and tucked up in bed Grin Sending big hugs for tomorrow for you not Imogen!

debka · 09/01/2012 21:03

wiggles and blizy thanks for the clarification!! Grin

wiggles would your nana consider going to the hospice or talking to a hospice nurse instead? I know they have a rep as being where people go to die but it's not true, they're also to do with palliative care and complimentary therapy. My mum's had aromatherapy and all sorts at hers, and the nurses are great at advising about pain relief and such.

Grannyapple · 09/01/2012 21:05

debka..u inspired me to get running again, so decided I'd do the London Bupa 10k for charity...& found a charity for the disorder my dh has.

That's awful news re:your mum's friend....u'll be strong for your mum I know, & absolutely everything crossed that it's not the news you sound like you're maybe expecting tomorrow. You need to look after yourself too so please remember that.

ILovePonyo · 09/01/2012 21:23

Hi all, glad work was ok (ish) ledkr. Work was fine for me too.

reastie good luck for tomo and glad today was alright.

deb I had no idea what wiggles forrin words meant either Grin Hope your lovely mum gets on ok tomo, will be thinking on you and her.

granny that condition your dh sounds tough, very restricting in some ways. Agree you should let us know about the sponsoring.

Hi everyone else, am going to post and run as I need to make bottles, just though I'd add that poor A had a bruise on her forehead where she toppled over at nursery, I can see this being a regular occurance! Felt sorry for her but to be fair she was fine Grin

wigglesrock · 09/01/2012 21:30

debka My nana has a thing about the hospice. My aunt (her daughter) died in one and it wasn't the best experience. My nana has the will to hold a grudge that would rival a mafia don!. Think she's still relying on the power of fags and sherry to keep her going Grin

american my bil and sil were considering moving back here for a while, should they decide to have a baby, because of the very short mat leave.

reastie I know any of my friends/family in US breastfed for the six weeks of maternity then stopped when returning to work, but my family in the US tend not to return to work after they have a baby - they're the rich relations Grin.

americanexpat · 10/01/2012 09:36

reastie - good luck for today. I don't know how mums cope with breastfeeding there. The ones I know who breastfed the longest were SAHM. I worked with a woman who came back to work 2 weeks after her baby was born Shock and she pumped a few times a day at work. I wonder what the bfing rates are compared to here?

blizy - hugs to you. How lovely of the officiant (is that what she's called?) to stop by

debka - I hope all is well with your mum and how sad about the vicar. Sad

L was fine at nursery but looked really poorly when I collected him. He appears to have conjunctivitis in both eyes, really congested. It was a miserable night for all of us. He whinged on and off between 9 and 3 but put himself back to sleep, then we were all up between 3 and 5 trying to get him back to sleep. He came into bed with me at 6:15 and I told DH to reset the alarm for 7:30. DH is staying home with him today and he has a GP appt this morning. One day at nursery and he's already sick...

But yay for all the new babies! I'm definitely getting broody again. Grin

Deliaskis · 10/01/2012 12:10

Hi all,

Just popped on for a quick update, has been one hell of a few days at the Skis household.

Sunday after I posted re C's high temp, went back up again, and she had a v scary febrile convulsion, head went back, eyes rolled, and just went floppy and vacant and starey for about 5 minutes. Went to hosp with blue light and stayed in overnight. They think it was cos of a UTI so have started anti-biotics. Yesterday another tough day, in the afternoon we just couldn't get her cool and I was terrified of another episode. Anyway, stripped her down to nappy only, doors and windows opens, (me and DMum) freezing) and she was still 41, but it did come down then, and has actually stayed down since with max doses of calpol & calprofen. I think we've turned a corner as she had a v settled night with no temps (still calpolling like mad tho) and hopefully that means the ABs are starting to do their job. V scary tho. I guess those of you with many babies may have seen this before, and after a bit of reading, the convulsion itself is not actually dangerous, it's just f*ing scary.

I feel terrible tho because I don't think she was right Saturday night, she was breathing faster and shallower than usual (when asleep) and she woke a couple of times, and we didn't really do anything. She didn't get ABs until Sunday night and that whole time the infection was raging and making her poorly. Poor C.

She's on the mend now tho I think. I'm in work for a few hours and C is with her Grandma, who has just called to say she's doing fine.

Sorry for dramatic and a bit sad post.

Will go and catch up on news from everyone else now.

Dx

wigglesrock · 10/01/2012 12:15

D big big hug, please don't feel bad, I spent a night in hospital with the difficult middle one Grin once and it was terrifying. As soon as the ABs start to kick in, she'll be well on the mend. Ps I swear by Nurofen for children, I think it really helped A last week.

blizy · 10/01/2012 12:29

Oh delia- poor c. It must have been terrifying for you. I'm glad she is over the worse of it now. Here, have a hug think you deserve it. X

American- she is a civil celebrant Wink

Hi wiggles Grin.

wigglesrock · 10/01/2012 13:02

Hi blizy I've been on MN all morning Blush, must go and pick up my darling O, wonder what stunning and slightly macabre artwork she'll have for me today Shock

Have put up a few photos of Olivias nativity glory, what you can't see are lurid pink Peppa Pig socks she had on underneath unfortunately everyone else could Blush

americanexpat · 10/01/2012 13:38

Delia - how terrifying, think I would've been bricking it myself. Hopefully C is on the mend now.

L has drops for his eyes and antibiotics for an apparent chest infection. I thought it was just a cold. Blush

blizy · 10/01/2012 13:45

american Hope he is on the mend soon.

Four4me · 10/01/2012 17:51

Poor you Delia hopefully she is back to normal very soon.
And I hope L's eyes and chest are better soon too.

Imogen had a good time at her first one hour nursery trial, she was really pleased to see Archie when I collected her. They are like mini best mates now, as there is only 16 months between them. Arr.

reastie · 10/01/2012 18:36

d Shock poor you and C. Really hope she improves quickly for you. What a horrible few days

wiggles love the piccies as always Grin

four4 love how Imogen and Archie get on so well

Work went OKish again today - got through my lessons. Bit rusty but then I guess I would be Grin . Hopefully I'll loose masses of weight the amount I'm dashing all over the school all day though Grin . Got the dreaded group tomorrow all the teachers dread and moan about all day long in the staff room. Just got to get tomorrow out the way and then I have a whole day off before Friday Grin

Got home to find DH had decided to give Alice a pork and apple ellas kitchen pouch for lunch...mixed with lots of tinned tuna Shock no wonder she didn't eat much lunch

Btw - a week or so ago we stopped alices afternoon bf and replaced it with solids. She seemed fine about this but today and yesterday (when I've been at work) she's been desperately groping me for a bf when I've come home. Does anyone think she actually needs the afternoon milk feed back and wasn't ready to drop it or she just misses me and feels reassured by a bit of boob ?

chocoroo · 10/01/2012 19:40

Off to catch up, have been laid low with a horrid stomach bug - just DO and I so far but surprised R hasn't got it yet...

And big news - she took her first steps this evening!

MizK · 10/01/2012 20:09

Hey yall, just a quick one
delia you poor thing, you must have been really scared, hope C is OK now x
american you too with an ill baby, fingers crossed he feels better soon too x
choco yay to first steps!
deb love to your mum, she seemed such a lovely woman when we met up, sending good vibes to her and all of you.
ledkr and reastie glad work has gone OK for you both :)
Right going to dash, want to have a bath then watch The Biggest Loser (yes, v guilty pleasure indeed)

ledkr · 10/01/2012 20:14

Aw i wouldnt stop it just as you have gone back if you are happy with it.Dilly is really pleased to see me when im home and cries if i give her back to dh.
wiggles sweet pics,Derri was a star in one of his and spent the whole time hitting everyone on the head with the star,he also was Joseph at school and ran down the aisle with his pg wife in tow Grin
Dilly is being a pain to go to sleep tonight,i took pity cos i thought she maybe disturbed with me being away so much.I got her back up and she was still miserable and also was grabbing Ella dinner and got ketchup everywhere Hmm Ive put her back now and shes going to have to cry it out.
work was more interesting,i had a meeting and was allocated some clients. One feuding family who have been making threats to each other and a woman who has been in prison for murder Shock I get all the good jobs Grin
Bloody hell she is still crying, shes been going down straight away last few days but waking in the night and having calpol,i think its her teeth.
Better go and see to her grrrrrrr. Dh has gone to the pics with his boyfriend Grin

Emski76 · 10/01/2012 20:23

Quick one from me too.
Delia, do sorry C has been do poorly, what a fright for you.
Expat, sorry about L too. What a nightmare with sicky babies!

Hi to everyone else

debka · 10/01/2012 21:07

OMG delia you poor woman, you must have been out of your mind, I've never had anything like that happen, I'm sure I'd have been just the same re not realising soon enough. Much love to you and hope C is her normal self soon.

choc poor you with tummy bug, but yay to R walking!!

reastie well done with getting through your second day, you've broken the back of it now. I reckon Alice missed you and wanted to reconnect, I'd feed her if she wanted it if I was in that position (wish I was, S gave me up months ago).

wiggles what a cutie in the pics, so serious!

GOOD NEWS from me, my mum's scan came back with the all clear, no new cancer, so we can relax for another 3 months. Thanks for all your support, she is loved by so many (bloody bloody unfair indiscriminate disease).

We visited a pre school today because Imy will get her free place next term, bless her, she wouldn't even look at the workers who were trying to talk to her, let alone respond, and then cried when we said we had to leave! It's going to be a big shock for her when she does go, but I think she'll enjoy it, she's getting bored home alone with Mummy and so is Mummy

Weigh in tonight, only 2lb off but I suppose I did lose 7lb the week before Grin

Hi to everyone else xxx

ledkr · 10/01/2012 21:17

So glad about your Mum Deb,say hi from me.
delilasds 1 used to get those,it was horrible.I am very brutal with fevers and have been known to stand in the garden with a feverish child just to get temp down.I hope she is feeling better soon.
reastieI was hoping to lose more weight now im back at work,i take healthy food and there are no alternatives apart from a mcds over the rd but even im not tempted by that gunk.
My journey to work is now 38 miles a day instead of 2 Angry
Finished for the week now as i have al on Wednesdays.

reastie · 10/01/2012 21:26

deb it's because you're building up muscle from all that jogging and muscle weighs more than fat Grin . Great news re: your mum - you must be so relieved

choc poor you with the nasty bug - it seems like non stop illnesses since you've gone back to work Sad

ledkr you get all the juicy cases Grin . Btw when is annoying colleague going back?

ohm and deb I gave her a bf yesterday but today it was literally minutes from her dinner so I didn't bf her but felt really guilty Blush . I've only got a half day tomorrow though so hopefully will be around if needed. It is rubbish timing cutting out her afternoon feed but hv said to do it from 10 months, and I thought it was better to cut it out before going back, but maybe she'll have to have it back again Hmm

debka · 10/01/2012 21:29

She will be fine without it, really don't worry or feel guilty. She'll adapt. Distract her with dinner or playing. Imy gave up her daytime bfs at about this age, just had one in the morning and one before bed.

Yes, v relieved about my mum, we can all breathe again. She talks about you ledkr, I'll tell her hi!

ILovePonyo · 10/01/2012 22:26

Hello folks,

delia that sounds so scary, I know I would have been panicking if it was me. Hugs to you and C, hope she is back to her usual self soon.

deb really pleased for you and your mum, what a relief. Grin at Imy

ledkr when I was made redundant they tried to put me in some where miles and miles away, I said no and luckily got put nearby, I feel for you having to travel all that way :( Your clients sound... interesting, I got yelled and sworn at on the phone today, water off a ducks back by now Grin

reastie A is prob pleased to see you and associates you with boob, nothing wrong with bf when she sees you after work now if she wants it is my guess? Glad you got through the day today :)

american another poorly one! Hope the antibiotics work quickly and he gets better soon.

wiggles gorgeous pics as always, I love O's cheeky face Grin

Well A was at nursery today and had half an hours sleep all day Shock I couldn't believe it. We put her to bed half an hour early so 6.30, so far shes made a few noises but thats it. Is the the end of 2 naps a day?!

Hi everyone else :)

blizy · 11/01/2012 07:35

Debka- Fantastic news about your mum, I am so pleased for you all.

Chocco- wow to your little walker, not let the fun begin!

My little mindee has started to walk too- fun times. He is eating breakfast now and I think will go to sleep on the school run- fingers crossed. Grin

Reastie- good luck with your class of horrors today.

Ledkr- thrown into the deep end or what?

Right I'm off to clean up mucky boy, hope you all have a good day. Oh and hope the ill babies are feeling better. Smile

americanexpat · 11/01/2012 09:48

wiggles - yes, cheeky was the word I was looking for to describe O. Grin She has a bit of a mischievous air about her.

reastie - agree, A prob just wants a bit of comfort after missing you all day.

deb - that's wonderful news about your mum. Cancer seems to run in my mum's family so I may be in your shoes some day. Sad

I'm feeling absolutely rubbish today. My sinuses and ears hurt and I was having chills/hot flushes during the night. DH is feeling equally crap too. L was back to himself last night and is at nursery today. The director said a lot of the children have been out sick this week so I'm not surprised he got sick.
