Happy New Year!

Happy new year!!!!! Hope everyone had a good time whatever or where ever they were and doing. Well I am the same as logic....have weighed myself this morning and ...the diet starts today. I'm quite a bit off 30 but dh & I would love to try for another baby this year..have given myself until May when dd is 1 so I need to loose the weight by then. DH thinks I am mad esp as I will only put it on again if we get pregnant but I would rather be a lower weight than the weight I am iykwim...TBH I am quite ashamed that I am this over weight .

Oh well new year and a new me..Any other resolutions..????

Hope things improve for her.

My resolutions are to lose weight. I weigh a stone and a half more than I did when I got pregnant with DS. And seven months after birth I think it's about time to quite using the pregnancy excuse. Shhh, after my first baby I was a bit like your dh in thinking oh well what's the point I'm just going to have another. But I think 2 is it for us, so no more excuse. Time to shed that fat and find the old me...

Glad to hear Brighteyes is coping and hopefully working things out.

I spent new years eve with a migraine so went to bed around 10:00... what a boring old fogie I am! A bit better today but not quite back to normal... hopefully tomorrow.

Hey, anyone up for a meet-up in the new year? I mentioned this over on Brighteyes' thread as well.

Forgot the other resolution, which is to reduce my debt.

My resolutions- loose weight, I can not be using the baby weight excuse for much longer. The other aim this year is to move area hoping to move back to where my family are from.

My resolution is the same as Logics, to lose weight by my 30th, which is mid feb, when is yours logic? I'm a bit more worried about it now it is this year! Failing by my 30th I'd like to loose it by dd's 1st birthday. We're not planning any more dd's, and although I've lost all my pregnancy weight (or had before Christmas ) I still can't fit into all of my clothes.
dd is feeling alot better now, and although she took a while to settle last night she slept solidly from just after midnight until gone 7.
Glad things are improving for Brighteyes. I'm interested in a meet up but would depend where it was as I'm in Somerset and dd doesn't like being cooped up in the car for too long, she's also scared of being in the car in the dark, she screams, poor mite.

My 30th is the beginning of May. I reckon I can lose about a stone by then if I really try hard. I want to go away for the weekend around my birthday so I have an incentive to look nice!

Sympathies on the migraine, uwila . I woke up with one this morning too. Last night was grim. Dd was ill until about 2:30am. Ds got up at 6:30am and woke dd. We are shattered. Still, went round to the in-laws for a family meal which was nice.

Alas, ds is back in pull-ups today, myermay, but first thing this morning he got a pair of pants out and wore them for ooh all of 10 minutes. Still, it's a start and I'm determined not to push him. He has to do this at his own pace. They have to be Thomas pants too, Spider Man and Postman Pat just don't cut it. You parents of one have got this all to come lol.

Washing and washing up and tidying yes! It's all I seem to do all day every day - about 9 loads of clothes washing a week I reckon. I can't understand why the house is still always such a complete tip and the laundry baskets are always overflowing. It's driving me mad.

On the weight topic, I found it really hard to lose weight after having ds but I can't face weightwatchers this time. I've got a pedometer and I'm going to be counting calories. I had a nasty fright when I bought a new pair of scales recently, it claimed to be 8lbs higher than the old ones!

Myermay I know exactly how you feel. I miss dh when he is not here and for two days during his time off I spent really annoyed with him because he was annoying me.dh has been waking up at night with sore teeth during one these he told me that I should be sorting it all out because he works so hard at work. I could not even reply for fear of what I would say. Your definitely not alone.

I hope you all had a great New Year. DS1 stayed at Nana & Granda's (my in-laws) and we (DH, DS2 and I) stayed up and went to a friends party, saw the new year in and came home. He was in his element with all the flashing lights and all those women cooing over him, he loved it!! We've been to in-laws to lunch which was lovely, came home and did housework, playing with the kids etc..

Yep know exactly how you feel Myermay and Babiesrcool. I love DH with all my heart but when he's home it's like I have 3 kids to look after. It seems like all he has done over the hols is moan and we have a massive argument about it (and a few other things) yesterday. I can't seem to get any housework done because I go round in circles doing what I did 5 mins ago and yes, I can clear my washing basket but the next day it's overflowing! And that doesn't include bedding either! So you're not alone!! Hopefully once DH is back at work and DS1 is back at school on 9th, I'll be more organised (my NY resolution).

hi all, and happy new year lets hope its a good one.

well its been so long since ive been on here, coz of college and just everything being such a rush and it never feels like everything is done, thats its just taking me 1 hour and 10 mins to read all the messages since i was last on here. so lots has happened and i don't quite know where to start.

well i hope everyone had a nice christmas (sounds like you all did)
we did, the day was going really well, ds loved opening the prezzies and then eating the paper lol. and then in the evening he fall and wacked his head on the wooden floor and screamed all night, so we nearly ended up at a&e but the nhs line said he was ok as he didn't pass out and hadn't been sick, so we had a stressful evening and night but overall it was good and we had a nice peaceful boxing day thank god!

we had a nice new years eve too, went out for a meal with friends (mum and dad had ds bliss!!!!) which was nice then went home and brang in the new year with the family.

glad to hear all the babies are doing well and healthy apart from the odd cold, i swear ds picks up a new one each week bless him. but he hasn't had any more ear infections so far which is good news.

im so confused about everything i.e. feeding, sleeping, car seats, developpment etc.

ds has breakfast at 9am which is baby rice and then rest of milk.
then has a bottle at 11am which is sometimes 6oz and other times only 2oz
then has lunch at 1.30pm which is pureed veg, meat, potatoes etc. and a pureed fruit pot for afters
then has another bottle same as 11am one
then has dinner at 5pm which same as lunch (varies day to day) and a fromage frais (ive read the debate going on and think its whatever you feel comfortable with) for afters and a bottle but only drinks about 3oz
then has a bottle before bed at 10ish.
i have no idea if this is right at all, but ds seems healthy and happy and is still following his 50th pecentile line thingy. (well he's just a tiny bit above it)
he weighs 18lb 6oz and is 30wks old i think!

he still only goes to bed at around 10 sometimes later, is this too late. he sometimes sleeps through till about 8ish and sometimes wakes in the night. any ideas how to get him to bed earlier without him waking earlier?

i think he may be teething now (lots of dribble, red cheeks and everything gets chewed) no teeth yet but think they might be on the way (hopefully)

ds can roll over but he's quite lazy so never really does he just waits to be given something rather than going to get it.
he can sit by himself for about10-15mins sometimes but often topples over if he reaches for something at the wrong angle.
we are trying to encourage him to crawl but he doesn't really like it on his front (never has done really) and when we put him up on the hands and knees he kinds of just rocks back and forward like he wants to move but doesn't quite know how (cute!!!!) should they be cwraling by now or is ok if there not?

ds says ba ba and has starting saying da da and mmmmmmmmm. i don't think he has any idea what he's saying but still i like to think he does and its very cute. he also makes me laugh coz he clenches his fists and shouts at you when hes annoyed and screams if no one is paying attention to him, anyone else finding this with their ds or dd or is it just me thats gonna have a terror on her hands before long. hes at the really frustrated stage coz he wants to move and get to things but he can't it must be quite annoying for them i surpose coz it would be for us. i keep saying i can't wait till he can crawl coz he can amuse himself abit more but i bet ill be tearing my hair out when he can (but i surpose us motthers can never win can we)

also about the car seat issue, ds is still in his group 0 one which is such a pain and so heavy now, ive heard that if their feet hang over the end (which ds's do coz he's so long) then they need to be in a forward facing seat because it can break their legs if you crash. don't know if this is right coz all the car seats say from 9 months and ds is only 7 and can't fully sit up by himself yet. so i don't really know if he should be in the next one up or not. what type is everyone else using?

well sorry for the long message but wanted to get evrything covered in one go coz don't know when ill get the chance to come on again.

I don't think they should be crawling quite yet, matthewsmummy. Some babies do crawl very early but dd is only just sitting up by herself and starting to move her limbs into the crawling position but not actually moving.

Hate to say it, but they will only sleep for about 10,11 hours a night if you're lucky and it's a trade-off between early morning and early nights. Ds has always naturally gone to sleep about 10pm but he sleeps though until about 8:30am, sometimes 9am. It suits us that way BUT on Friday he starts a morning pre-school session so he will have to get up early so his sleep pattern will probably change.

Hope your ds is ok now, it's so frightening when they bang their heads but it happens constantly, especially with boys. Ds even went through a stage of deliberately banging his head on the wood floor to get extra attention! Worst bit is, we had to ignore it and only praise good behaviour.

Hi Matthewsmummy, I was just thinking the other day that I'd not seen you for a while. Glad everythink was ok after Matthews fall, believe me, it won't be the last. I remember DS1 falling and bumping his forehead in Costa Coffee, oh how we panicked. But they do tend to bounce back rather quickly.

The thing I have learned from having 2 kids is that no 2 babies are the same. DS2 is now 7 1/2 months and is just starting to push up on his hands and knees, whereas DS1 was crawling all over the place at this age. By 9 months he was walking, even 'kidnapped' a sales assistant once

On the meal front DS2 has a bfeed when we get up, over the holidays this has been around 9am then has another feed around 11 and a sleep till whenever, then solids 1pm another bfeed around 3, dinner at 5ish then bath, bed and bfeed at 7.30. Really the only routine that I have set in stone is the bedtime one, to me it doesn't matter that much if the times he has his milk/food varies from day to day, as long as he is not hungry.

Got to go to bed now, I really must start going to bed at decent times of night instead of stupid times of the morning

Ditto on the diet myermay. Yesterday,I gave myself a migraine and started shaking from lack of food. My body is having a big, big shock. Still, it's not going too badly. I was 9st 7 lbs exactly on Monday morning so that is my starting weight. I did have 4 squares of Green&Black's yesterday though.

Maddison - your "routine" sounds exactly like mine. Also, first baby was crawling at 6 months but this one is still not quite there yet at 7.5 months. Gets herself around in otehr ways though.

We have been loosely following the Gina Ford routine too. It worked well for ds and it seems to suit dd too. The only bit I'm really strict on is bedtime though - as much for my sanity as anything else!
On the car seat thing,I don't think the feet over the end is as important as not allowing the head to rise above the back. It is crucial that the head is fully supported.

Our routine is the same as myermay's, except dd only sleeps for about 30-40mins, except when she's ill. She's catching up on sleep at the moment after keeping us up most of last night (and several nights before that). She's got her second tooth today though so there is something to show for it . Poor thing still has a bad cough though, this keeps waking her up and then stops her settling again, that and the toothache, she's gradually geting better though. I'm glad Matthew is ok, it must have been scary.
We've just got dd's next stage car seat, but I'll check her weight next week. She can now sit up for over half an hour, although I do put a cushion behind her, which she leans back on occaisionally. She's also very long for her age (almost on 91st centile) so the top of her head is just above the top of her rear facing car seat so I think she's probably ready, will check at clinic next week though.
My start weight is 9st5, although I haven't done very well, yet, did manage to resist chocolate biscuits at work though, and my work place are starting a weight loss club which I'm joining and they're going to give us some hints and do a body fat check - sounds horrible!

Poor dd LittleB - hope she feels (and sleeps ) better soon.

There is a Sure Start organisation in our area and have signed up with them today on a healthy eating course. I told the lady that i wasn't particularly interested in losing weight but would like advice on healthy eating. Having said that i may change my mind about shedding a few pounds given that LittleB's START weight is 9st5lb!!

DS2 has an appointment on Tuesday for his 7 month check. Can't really remember what this entails so if someone could enlighten me, I'd be very grateful

Oh, and I'm still inkeeping with my NY resolution - my organisation skills are going from strength to strength!!

Don't be myermay. I was well over 11st when I had ds and I kept that weight on for a good year or so! It's more my shape that I don't like than the weight. I have got big thighs and a flabby stomach. I need to tone up more than anything but I hate exercise so much. I'm going back to dancing starting tonight. Does anyone else find that 3 meals a day just isn't enough? I have a sensible breakfast and lunch and by 4PM I am ravenous.

Right, so where do you ladies find time to exercise. My current schedule is up by 5:00am, get ready for work, see the kids for thirty minutes, turn them over to nanny, collect brekkie and lunch and out the door at 6:45. Return from work 7:00pm. See the kiddies for 30 minutes and get them to bed for 7:30 or 8:00 (depending in their level of cooperation... and my level of missing them since I haven't seen them all day)

The ONLY time I can think of to exercise is to get a work out video and do it at 8:00 after I put them to bed. But, this is my time to SIT DOWN. I have to be back in bed for 9:00 or 10:00 in order to be up again at 5:00 (or 5:30 if I keep hitting the snooze)
