Well we seemed to have cracked it! Ruby is now sleeping 7.30 -7 (when we wake her up!) All thanks to a (dare I say it) Gina Ford style 3 hours of nap (hour in the morning, no more than 2 at lunchtime and no naps after 2.30pm.

All great so long as we don't go anywhere in the car and let her fall asleep! Have had to endure a bit of 'controlled' crying but nothing terrible.
I feel like a different person with all this sleep!!

Oh sleep is fantastic isn't it. You don't realise how much of a luxury it is until you have a baby.
I'm definately not having any more. Last Monday, my friend's childminder let her down and as she works just around the corner from our house, I looked after her two kids for the day. They are lovely children (2.5 yrs and 6months) but OMG 4 kids under 4 nearly killed me! I didn't know whether I was coming or going. Slightly about potentially infecting them with chicken pox though...

Morning all,

What bliss, its 20 past 8 and they are all still in bed, a rarity ion this house so im making the most of it. Back to school tomorow. The chaos will beging again!!!

Logic I know what you mean about the luxury of sleep, even though Luca went thru from about 10 weeks at xmas he got a stinking cold and cough and the cough kept waking him up, all he wanted was his dummy, getting up 2 or 3 times a night every night I felt like a zombie. Even now he will wake up occasionally looking for his dummy.

2 weeks ago Luca started walking round the furniture. then last week he decided he was going to crawl so no peace now. Nothing is safe, the poor cats and dog.

He also bites, any one else got a biter? He comes up for a cuddle and then sinks his teeth in.

Last week he weighed 25lb 9oz some one asked me why I was carrying him every where, I had to explain that he was only 9 months and still a baby albeit a bloody big one.

He dosent have finger foods yet, hes not quite ready I dont think. I gave him a banana and shoved most down his throat choking himself and then was sick every where.

Wow, he's a big baby Miss Blossom, Megan is 21lb and I've been told she's big too! She's got her third tooth coming through at the moment so she's a bit restless at night but fine during the day. Can't bite yet as she's only got two teeth, but she might when she's got more, she does sort of slobber on my cheek to give ma a kiss though, and loves to pull my hair.
I can't believe some babies nap for 3 hours a day. Megan has two naps of about half an hour, but sometimes only 10 mins, although she usually sleeps 11-12 hours at night. Makes it hard to get things done during the day though! She's trying to pull herself up on furniture but doesn't have the strength and balance yet. She's learning new sounds now, she's started 'mooing' at her toy cow, and dances to her musical book, which is really cute to watch. I'm really enjoying her at this age, she's so interested in everything and seems to have a real sense of humour now. Not that I didn't enjoy her before, its just getting to be more fun.

dd got her 7th tooth today, now she really can nip when I'm not looking.

7 teeth!!! Wow, DS2 is only on with his 3rd tooth now! They can bite really hard can't they, even DS2 with his 2 bottom teeth hurts me sometimes, especially on the chin

Well he is getting more mobile by the day now, we went to a friends house last night and he was walking around their furniture, but he was really well behaved, people can't believe what a placid baby he is. I think the parents down at the school haven't even heard him cry yet, he usually saves that just for me

On a sad note though, one of my chinchillas died yesterday. I got him when I was pg with DS1, almost 6 years ago, he was the first one I got. I am devastated

Maddison, sorry to hear about your chinchilla, its sad when a pet dies, we have lost a few over the years. My dog has breast cancer, took her to the vets and because of her age he said its not a good idea to operate, he has given her 12 months that was 6 month a ago but I think her legs will go first.

Hi all, nice to catch up with how everyone is doing. Can't believe some of our babies are on up to 7 teeth,...!! OMG..! DD id just starting her 3rd and it's the top teeth.

Can anyone advise me...I have posted a thread on health but wonder if those of you who are/have experienced problems with teething did it involved very very very loose nappies..?
DD has been like this since sunday, went to gp today and all he said is " you are doing a wonderful job,she looks healthy and seems very alert and curious. Keep up the good work and trust your mothering instincts"..! LOL..! I asked if I should be concerned that she is doing 3-4 very loose nappies a day that require a change of clothes after and that she is off solids and some milk. He says nope and give her what she wants.!
Anyone experienced this and for how long..?? All this nappy changing, washing, dressing, tidying is tiring me out. I could cry I am so exhausted. Sad. DD was bad on sunday (grumpy) but is now quite content and playful. It's just the worry and constant work.

Sorry to turn it into a moan but just feeling a bit low and sorry for myself. Sad.

I also feel guilty as dd is sleeping well and manages about 1-2 hours in the afternoon. I usually join her in the afternoon as I am exhausted but feel so guilty. Like I should be awake coz I am her mum etc.

I don't want her to think I am a lazy mum etc..Sad

Why do you feel guilty for having a kip, you obviously need it, given half a chance I would tooSmile

Luca`s nappies have been a bit loose and very smelly, I think there is something going round again. Been off his food a bit today aswell. But for the last week or so he only has 2 bottles of milk a day. He has gone right off them. He has one bottle in the morning when he gets up and the other before bed at night. But he dosent always have this one either. The rest of the time he will only drink very diluted juice.

I remember DS1's nappies being very loose when he was teething - the sort that just seeped out of the nappy (sorry if tmi). DS2's are quite loose, but not quite as bad as ds1's were.

I'm with Missblossom on the sleep front too - sometimes when DS1 is at school and DS2 falls asleep I put my head down too. I wouldn't worry about het thinking you're lazy - it's not like she would know the difference because she's asleep too iyswim.

donaldduck · 01/03/2006 21:20

If she knew you were having a sleep she would probably think that you are a very sensible mummy, all the better to play with her when you all wake up.

We are going along with the cc route, I vowed that I would not do it. However so far so good(ish) we have had quite short bedtimes, in fact probably less time than it takes for her to fall asleep in my arms. I hate it and have been even more attentive during the day... just trying to justify it.

thanks for the reasurrance about sleep and nappies. I am quite worried about the nappies but don't really know where to get advice...it's 3.15am and we have been up since 2.30am as dd has totally "gone through" a nappy, babygrow, sleepsuit and dreampod..Sad.....surely dd shouldn't be like this...????

DD sorry to hear you are using cc as it sounds like it's a last resort for you....I hope things inprove. From what I have heard it's meant to be quite successful.. My firned used it and hasn't has many probs since. I wouldn't feel bad about it,you need to do what works for you. Good luck. xx

SHHHH,
DS has just had a nasty bug, he was puking on Monday and Tuesday and last night he needed changing twice in the night with runny poo. Off all food except milk and generally grotty, it sounds like your dd may have the same bug, I've never done so much washing!!

thansk booge,dd did have the sickness and pooing (!) bug about 3 weeks ago (we all did in fact)..thing is that we thought the same for this time but she isn't being sick with it..She is also quite well otherwise?? Quite cheerful, playing, crawling etc.

booge · 02/03/2006 11:36

3 weeks seems too long for it to be the same thing unless it could be a mild re-occurence. DS did have soft nappies when his first teeth came through but nothing compared with the current episode.

I have just called my hv and she suggests leaving it a few days and if it continues to go back and ask for lactose intollerant milk..? Thinks she may have a temporary lactose intollerance..?? Would make sense though as she has been drinking more milk the last week than previously. Apparently they can get it on a temp basis.?

Fingers crossed. Just now need to get her bum and flower better Sad.

Shhh, glad dd is getting better. dd got sore last time she was teething (she seems to be ok this time luckily- top fron two coming through now) my HV prescribed metanium cream, which worked really well to clear it up. Since then we've been useing weleda calendula lotion and nappy cream which seem to prevent a recurrance. She's started trying to crawl now, I think she may be a bit behind physically, although she does shuffle around a bit on her bum, but shes doing well mentally, we're learning animal noises now, she moos, quacks and purrs! very cute! She's alot of fun at the moment (except when she's up in the night with toothache - poor mite), and she's growing like mad, just had to order some size large nappy wraps.
For those of you who read my post about our youngest dog we've eventually come to the difficult decision that he needs to go back to the RSPCA. We've seen behaviouralists and tried training methods but he's getting more stressed and mainc, and has started being destructive now, and is very boistrous and out of control and I worry about dd around him now she's getting more mobile. I think the changes in our family and his routines have really upset him, they think they'll be able to find a better home for him, where he'll get lots of attention. Its a sad time though.

Glad dd seems to be doing well littleb, don't worry about the delayed crawling bit as your dd may not be crawling as much as others her age BUT she is doing things that others aren't..!! DD can crawl but can't make noises like a cow !!! How cute!!!

So sorry to hear about the dog issue. It sounds like you have stressed about letting go of the dog..Sad. Having recently lost our cat (died) I know what it's like to loose a close family pet. It's hard whatever the circumstances....Sad Sad Sad.

hello everyone :-)

Dd has been doing loose nappies and had nappy rash too. There are a lot of bugs going around but tbh, I think it's more that she is now starting to crawl all over the floor and put things in her mouth. She needs to get used to the background bacteria. Or maybe I need to mop the floor more often! Blush

I've been wanting to post more often but ds has only just got over his chickenpox and is back in school only for me to get raging tonsilitis. Still, feeling rather better now.

Dd is still not crawling properly either, it's more of a forward shuffle. I'm not worried though. She has started saying "daddy", "dolly" and "oh dear!" which is incredibly cute :-)) I am a bit worried about her gaining too much weight though. She is on the 50th centile but she is really quite chubby and eats like a horse. She's very, very tall too for her age. She looks like a much older child.

Sorry to hear about your dog, littleb. Tbh, we are having problems with our cats too, they keep waking ds at night. They are not really comfortable or compatible with having small kids around but I am really reluctant to take them to the cats' home. They pre-dated the kids after all!

I'll e-mail you soon Shhhh!

Pleased to hear dd is getting better now Shhh, these babies can be so worrying can't they!!

Logic I wouldn't worry about dd's weight. DS2 was on the 98th centile for ages but now he is mobile he has started to drop, he also looks older than he actually is. He now has his front top teeth and has just started to say 'mam' (but only when he wants something), although he has 'dad' off to a tee! He also growls, although I'm not sure where he has got that from! He started cruising round the furniture last week, he looks so sweet Smile

Sorry about your dog LittleB, I read your thread about it and if I remember rightly my dh posted on it under my name. We got a puppy (a little unwillingly I might add) when I was 36 weeks pg with DS2, but he was so destructive we had to give him up after about 3 months. I agree it's very sad parting with a famly pet but sometimes it's unavoidable. One of my chinchillas died last week and I was heartbroken (still am tbh) but we had him for almost 6 years, friends of ours have said this is the longest they have ever had one live too, problem is our female is about the same age as the one that died so I'm terrified I'll find her dead one day too Sad

Hi everyone. That pukey pooey bug has been through my house too. Luckily I managed to escape it. Grin

We don't crawl yet, but he has started moving across the living room comando style (on his belly, plants his forarm into the carpet in front of him and puls, then the other arm, and so on). He moves across the room like this. He's going to have some nice little biceps soon. Wink But, he hasn't quite worked out the leg work, they just wiggle behind him as the arms do the work.

We have four teeth, and we like to nibble on rice cakes and toast. But, he does not like chunks in his food.
