WeAreBorg · 23/11/2011 11:15

Oooh I can't stand Russell Brand, and I never found Ab fab funny (controversial). I rather like Sarah Milican as she is local and fat [my 2 main friendship criteria]. I also like to think me and Miranda would be best chums and I have a girl crush on Tina Fey. I like comedy Grin but too scared to go to in case I get picked on.

Hope the poorly babies get better. N is not poorly just annoying.

wiggles i need to see this snowflake improv, can you film it and put in on here?

mancrushed impressive weight loss, well done! I have started my winter hibernation regime so adding a wee bit of insulation for health and safety reasons.

hubbard happy birthday to tom! N has bashed himself loads, a lot of the time I could have stopped him but I kinda want to see what happens. I think that trumps your bad mummy award TBH.

I did Grin at ledkrs wipe comment, although I have since checked online at Sainsbos to see if the apple ones are in Blush. I am probably the DH when it comes to shopping, I just plan where I want lunch, coffee, cake, snack, loo, 2nd lunch etc.

I think DH might have finally found a way of tiring Nate out before bed, he made the poor soul climb 2 flights of stairs to his bedroom in the attic last night and he managed 930-1030, then till about 4ish, 630 then 815 which is his best night for a while Smile

ledkr · 23/11/2011 11:54

Grin at baby borgs bootcamp for sleep.

Cant believe you dont like ab fab. Me and my friend are often likened to them-im the fat one obviously.

Re wpes. I recently purchased some "toilet wipes" to encourage the wipeage of ahem-drips. It would seem ive so far been the only one to have noticed their existence Angry

janedoe25 · 23/11/2011 13:59

Hi girls, I'm sneaking a peek on here whilst dh Grin is showering. Having amazing time, we are just back from a couples massage and going for afternoon tea. I could get used to this 5 star luxury! Hope everyone is well, I will catch up at the weekend. Grin

WeAreBorg · 23/11/2011 14:28

jane glad you are having a good time, sounds lovely! Hope you enjoyed your "couple's massage" Wink

ledkr I accept that I'm odd for not finding abfab funny, everyone else thinks it's hysterical. I also don't like only fools and horses which seems to amaze people.

I think Nate is scared of the stairs now since last nights efforts, he climbed up one then looked at me with the bottom lip quivering and came back down. Ha! Who needs stairgates!! Although what are we going to do tonight? Anything else that tires them out? Swimming works but can't really take him in the evening might be a bit weird.

WeAreBorg · 23/11/2011 14:30

Just realised it's an hour later than I thought it was Blush late to meet some friends. Not sure why I am making myself later by coming on here but can't seem to leave. Obviously I have a day off work today, I can't seem to manage to post on my work days so will have to make up for it with multiple pointless and boring posts when I'm off. Lucky yous lot

ILovePonyo · 23/11/2011 14:53

Hello all, am just doing a quick post, am veeery busy dontcha know Wink

Grin at N's quivering lip and fear of stairs Borg, will try that myself I think! Get thee to your meet up, enjoy!

Oh, I am not a fan of only fools and horses, I find it mildly depressing. Love ab fab though, "tickets, money passports" hahaha :)

wiggles what is wrong with your teeth? Hope you feel better v soon. Love the description of S's dancing in the xmas play, get the video camera ready!

ledkr glad D seems ok except for the cold, should we just be expecting years of snot/coughs etc from now on?!

Hello MrsJane, oh I am so jel of lovely massages and afternoon tea, sounds ideal. Sounds like married life is treating you well Grin

milkmachine how was cbt?

Off again now to do general work stuff, I have got a couple of shifts at a pub next week too but am thinking that may be a bad idea as I will prob be knackered, I'm usually in bed at 9.30 not working behind a bar!

Oh and very funny thread in chat today, will link...

ILovePonyo · 23/11/2011 14:55

this thread has made me laugh today, never heard of 'performance parenting' until now...

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 23/11/2011 17:13

My poor poorly girl (big one) just asked to go to bed :( no tea, no bath, just jamas and a story. She's now asleep (AFAIK) and coughing intermittently. :( Is there anything else I can do for a streaming cold, horrid cough and shivering? (no temp, she's just cold).

mrsjane Grin Grin Grin

Gotta go, littl'un is waking up....

WeAreBorg · 23/11/2011 19:17

Poor poorly imogen, hope she is alright, don't know what else you can do, sounds like she needs to sleep poor lass

what is it you do at work ponyo? will have a look at that chat thread whilst I'm feeding N tonight.

I'm bored and have just eaten most of a box of maltesers, Nate ate two though so I didn't have the whole thing.

wigglesrock · 23/11/2011 19:47

ManCrushedTo... poor Imy, its horrible when they are listless and just want to sleep, its when you know they're poorly. Hopefully she'll be able to sleep a bit and bounce back x

Well hello MrsJane massages [phnar phnar]

ponyo I read that thread, my girls let me down constantly, lest we forget "chippy tonight" refrain after Irish Dancing or the ping of the microwave indicating "dinners ready Mummy" Blush

WeAreBorg how strange, Mr W let Anna climb 3 stairs today, will report back on the sleep situation Grin

reastie how did you get on today at weigh-in?

ILovePonyo · 23/11/2011 20:05

Grin wiggles its a good job Mr Ponyo is a food snob fussy about food otherwise A and I would be living on freezer food, yum yum Wink

Borg I do housing support so work with people with housing probs, homelessness etc. Did N like his malteasers? A loves chocolate fingers, can't blame her Grin Oh and my friend has just been over with a big box of Thorntons for my (very) late birthday present, I have them open next to me, lets see how long they last... Hmm

ManCrushed oh no, poor Imykins, no advice but just hope this is the worst of it and she gets better very soon.

I have found a fab snack for A - Heinz biscotti (I know Hmm) they do them in apple flavour and they are a winning snack for bribing erm feeding A.

I know people with non sleeping babies may not want to hear this but A slept through properly last night, I didn't have to do the dummy run or anything, makes a big difference to how I feel today (ie not knackered), long may it last!

wigglesrock · 23/11/2011 20:21

ponyo well done Anya on sleeping last night, brilliant. I never begrudge anyone a nights sleep.

On the subject of Heinz biscotti - Asda usually has them on offer Wink Also I was in town with Anna last week and I picked up a bag of baby biscuits. They are Annabel Karmel apple and cinnamon mini biscotti and a bag that has 4 mini bags in it are in Poundland for yes you've guessed it a £1 Grin

janedoe25 · 23/11/2011 20:49

Blush at you all lowering the tone, fab mini moon so far, I'm mums netting on my phone and dh( love it) is reading the paper. Who said romance is dead!Wink.

man poor imy, hope she feels better after a good sleep.
G

reastie · 23/11/2011 21:54

mrsjane glad you and DH are having a good mini moon. Envy to the massages though. I hope you are being properly spoilt Grin

ponyo apple heinz biscotti is a hit here too (can you tell my baby food standards have been lowered Wink ). She also loves the ellas kitchen biscuits, oh, and I've started giving her bread sticks following wiggles advice and she LOVES them Grin

deb hope Imy wakes up tomorrow feeling a bit better bless her

wiggles weigh in was good - have lost 2 lbs , however, I am still 1lb above my initial weigh in when I started Blush

borg we will need an update on how N sleeps tonight and if he has had his daily bootcamp class please Grin

Ladies back at work - just how wobbly did you feel once you were back? I'm having serious work wobbles today and I'm not sure where it's come from. I keep crying about it Sad

wigglesrock · 23/11/2011 22:02

reastie No I had no work wobbles at all re Anna, which I was quite surprised about. Although as I said before I have worked part-time after Sofia, stayed at home after Olivia and I think going out part-time suits me. Although I think doing the 23 hours over the weekend is too much and I am counting down the weeks until I drop down to 19 hours.

Although don't forget you've had some childminding issues over the past few month re your mil and you returning to work so you are probably really sensitive about it - when are you back?

Ps Well done on the -2lbs, thats 4lbs over the past 2 weeks Grin

ledkr · 23/11/2011 22:12

Reastie-i had the work wobbles today cos i spoke to the wanker boss and he is still a twat.I am dreading it too if that helps.Im just hoping to keep busy and use up my leave to stretch it out,id leave but its good money but im not looking forward to it at all. I am so busy atm with Ellas show, loads of rehearsals and sewing etc.
Dh is on lates over the actual show which means i have to do all the transport for 3 nights and a matinee, all with D in bed.Time to call in some favours me thinks.
Off to bed now cos nights havent been too good,i bring more to bed now than when she was a newborn-2 bottles, calpol and ibruprofen. Shock

Grannyapple · 23/11/2011 22:40

reastie I was like you the week before I was due to go back, I think because I kept thinking I'll miss all the cuddles etc. but to be honest-that 1st day back was great-felt like I'd never been away, work wise (not socially-my work colleagues are a bit weird & anti social)...the day flew by. I'm now in week 4 & although part time, I'm finding that I don't have the passion for the job that I once had, but I think that is to be expected in the early days. Am now counting down the weeks til Christmas. But I do find that I don't mind the 3 days I'm there (even tho I'm shattered during those 3days-take my hat off to you lot with more than 1 to organise in the morning), I enjoy the days I'm not at work more, even though they are a bit manic sometimes trying to fit everything in. For me, everyone said my priorities would change & I didn't believe them, but actually they do. It probably helps the N has settled in nursery really well. Friends who've gone back & have family looking after their little one are also finding they were worrying over it more than they should have.

Honestly, you'll be fine as soon as your back x.

Prob not much help, but just my perspective on things Smile

Emski76 · 24/11/2011 07:06

Reastie, yes I had the major wobbles before I wentback to work, as you all witnessed (!) and still have the wobbles now I'm back. I would love to be at home with Noah but we need the money, my job is good and it's really convenient hours and location. I do really enjoy doing something for me but the boys are on my mind all day especially this week with Noah being unwell.
I think it's definitely a harder transistion with your first baby. I am constantly tired and rushed but I love my days off.
What hours will you be working?

Jane, congrats on being Mrs B!

Oh poo, better go, Noah's been up since 5 and I think he wants his breakfast!

MizK · 24/11/2011 11:05

Morning girls. Will only be quick today as my poor Cassia is still ill. We have progressed from gunk on the chest to d and v, she isnt eating at all so I am filling her with dioralyte and milk, sadly it seems to come up again. My poor boo :( If she isnt better later I'm taking her to out of hours doc as I know my GP will do nothing apart from prescribe Calpol and Diarolyte anyway. Urgh babies being ill is horrid.

reastie whooooop! Your efforts are paying off, you keep this up and you'll be back to your pre baby self before you know it.
jane sounds like your mini moon is really lovely and relaxing - we are all super jealous obv.
mancrushed poor Imy, hope she feels better soon.
ponyo and other sneaky biscuit buyers, Cass love love loves Organix banana biscuits (sadly so does Joe so we have to be discreet or he will scoff the whole packet before Cass gets a sniff of them!)
Wave to everybody else, better get on before poorly girl awakes from her nap.

Deliaskis · 24/11/2011 11:46

MizK sorry about Cassia. C had something very similar about a week after I came back from work and I was really worried for a few days. One of the Drs we saw tho, said it only takes 20 minutes after drinking fluid, for at least some of it to start being absorbed, so keep offering the dioralyte and milk and hope that some of it is getting through. We found just very tiny sips very often seemed to be the best way of keeping it down. With Claudia they weighed her every other day for about 10 days to try and be sure she was absorbing some fluid.

reastie · 24/11/2011 11:58

mizk Sad for C. Hope she's OK and gets better soon

Thanks for fellow pre work wobblers. I'm hoping once I'm back it'll be OK. Am hoping it's the thought being worse than the actual return. ledkr I think maybe SW is similar to teaching in that your work is never done - there's always stuff to do and take home. I'm wondering how I'll ever manage to do my work. The head has alot of outside expectations from staff like having to run afterschool/lunch time clubs - can't see how I'll have time so will prob look like a slack teacher. Plus, it's been a long time since I've taught and the kids will all be in bad routines from my useless supply. Tbh I'd prefer to go to the gym and do loads of fitness classes while Alice is looked after when I would have been at work. We don't actually have a mortgage on our house as my parents gave it to us Shock , we only have a morgage on DHs old house which is our pension fund so IMO I've given us a house which is worth more money than I would have earned in many years of working even if the house is falling apart . wiggles I'm on the payroll from 12th dec but I don't actually teach until Jan Grin . I don't get a massive wage

reastie · 24/11/2011 12:04

Forgot to say ponyo I loved that link on performance parents. I think I might have accidentally been one today Blush . In sainsburys and Alice tried to grab my shopping list to chew so I said 'do you want to read the list and tell me what we need to get next? Asparagus did you say? Right, let's find the asparagus. Where is it? There you say? Well done. Clever girl' Blush What can I say, I get bored shopping and try and keep Alice amused with whatever comes in my head. And thinking about it I do get odd looks Hmm maybe I should rename alice Ranunculus

wigglesrock · 24/11/2011 14:00

MizK poor Cassia and poorer you, hope she manages to keep some of the dioralyte down x

Sofia was sent home sick from school today at 11am with an unspecific ailment Grin, although she looks like death and yes is doing her best Jane Austen on the sofa. Although (getting ready to pack my Mumsnet bag Grin), she is getting her ears pierced tomorrow afternoon, so I feel a miraculous recovery to rival Lazarus is on the cards.

ponyo how is dp?

ledkr take it easy, know you are running around like a blue arsed fly at the minute, but try and take some time for yourself - don't forget how hard the past few weeks have been x

reastie Grin at the asparagus. I give Anna my list when shopping to keep her amused but she just eats it Grin

Back to work tonight Sad, its blowing a gale here, don't think I'll be too busy - anyone with any sense won't be going anywhere tonight.

ILovePonyo · 24/11/2011 16:30

Hello all,

urgh my good nights sleep was a one off, A was awake from 12.30 til 2 last night, just AWAKE then when she got really squirmy I put her down and she went to sleep Confused

wigs thanks for asking, dp is ok, back in hospital tomo to have his drainage bag removed mmm lovely. He managed to make a cheesecake yesterday but then was too tired to wash up Hmm Grin Hope S feels better soon, ooh ears pierced should be interesting - did she ask for it to be done? I've decided A can have hers done when she can ask and if me describing how they do it doesn't put her off Grin

MizK poor C! Aww really feel for her (and you), its so worrying isn't it. Good luck at out of hours docs, we've been to the one on Derby rd before and they were pretty good.

reastie Grin at asparagus, I think its only performance parenting if you are looking around making sure people are seeing your excellent parenting too :) I talk to A all the time out and about, she usually gives me a confused look. Oh and I think I felt fine about actual work, it was more A going to nursery that I felt wobbly about - for no reason it seems!

A is dressed as a xmas elf - I bought her outfit today and need to get soe nice photos for xmas cards presents - this is proving a problem as she keeps pulling the hat off and crying when I try to take her photo Hmm She looks very funny cute though, I might dress her like this most days, get lots of use as I have a feeling it might not fit her at xmas, her feet are too bloody long!!

wigglesrock · 24/11/2011 16:38

ponyo Anna has started to be an absolute nightmare with photos. Sofia has asked for her ears to be pierced on and off from she started P3. I had thought to wait until Christmas and then thought fgs she wants it done, her school has no issue with it and more importantly Christmas will be really busy Grin.

She knows it will be sore and she has to look after them, infact her and Olivia had an indepth conversation last week about the pain involved in ear piercing and vaccinations Hmm, it was not for the faint hearted Grin

Right definitely have to get organised for work, my Mum is babysitting so need to squirt some toilet duck about and hoover! Ah the life of a dancer by night, welder by day - not an easy one Grin
