Borg - No pointing going on here, but he's only 9 months and it can change in a blink of an eye. Plus he's the PthirdB so I'm not pushing him! Yes walking around like that can take months! I could get a licence to teach here, but the budget cuts mean they have cut most languages from schools except Spanish, Mandarin or Japanese and my MA is in German. Maybe I'll apply to private schools next year as they still have other languages, I believe.

Nancy was the novelist, Diana, the beauty was married to Oswald Moseley, Unity was in love with Hitler, Jessica was the communist and went to the States and Deborah married the Duke of Devonshire (well that's what he became). There was one other who like to raise chickens whose name escapes me! Boring myself now, got to get E from pre-school!

reastie · 15/11/2011 19:22

borg killing season 2? is it the american or foreign one? Which channel please??? In answer to your question, Alice is desperado to walk - loves it when I holds her hands and lets her walk around the house but clearly is not going to go solo for a while yet and it kills my back too. No signs of pointing yet either. She can, however, nearly do the splits Wink

granny hope N is OK. No advice here as everyone else far more experienced than me.

Alice currently driving me mad - she's sticking her bum out while having a good nosey behind the wash stand in my room....oh.... and now she looks like a monkey hanging her arms on the chest of drawers standing up. She's spent most of this evening playing with a piece of card and an electric cable Hmm

Grannyapple · 15/11/2011 19:24

Cheers ladies...called NHS Direct & spoke to a nurse...they're contacting my out of hours GP & someone is calling me back

Tarlia · 15/11/2011 19:36

Huge shout for Ledkr and Dilly I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow. She will be fine, just remember that. Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.

Debs Grin I mean Blush How embarrassing, you poor thing. Are you both feeling better yet? Yay S crawling!

Jane How did it go today?

Reastie Loving the fact Alice is trying to eat the newborns. How come you didn't move up a class? Wouldn't the next be more active?
Thank you for thinking about me. After months of knowing I needed to go to the Drs, you lot convinced me to. I went this morning, it was tough, but she was really supportive. She is going to call my HV and I have to go back Friday to do some scoring test, I'm assuming the same as done in the UK, they do not do that here I was just told its normal to feel blue at the start. She mentioned pills, therapy, said my MIL was "insane" and this was far to big for me to deal with alone. I'm scared and slightly relieved that I've said it out loud.

Borg Sorry, don't meant to be a know it all. I just know a load of useless kiddy facts/info lot of really interesting things.
No pointing here, not clapping or waving for that matter, but I do know a 9 month old pointer. Perhaps you could look into getting N a block trolley thing? Though I've seen many a tiny dot with skinny legs walk early, so he may do.

Hope you've all had a good day. It is so quiet around here.

Tarlia · 15/11/2011 19:42

Sorry I forgot to you Granny I hope he is ok. Its so tough when they are poorly.

Haha @ the foreign one, its Danish. I've not seen it, the Danes don't like it, but all the Brits seem to rave about it. I must try and see it, though I think I'm too lazy to read subtitles..

ILovePonyo · 15/11/2011 19:43

granny hope they call you back soon sounds very worrying for you, poor baby. Let us know how you get on.

ledkr good luck for tomo, will be keeping an eye out for an update from deb. Give D a big kiss from all of us and look after yourself. Don't know if I said but dp has his kidney op tomorrow too, am a bit worried about hm but would be 100x more if it was little baby having an op (sorry don't mean to worry you there, but hope you know wat I mean)

Borg thanks for the reminder tv buddy! Still not watched Fridays walking dead so am getting behind on my telly, what a bad habit Wink

Hi everyone else, I have been lurking whilst at work but not posting in case they tell me off haha, A has been unsettled at nursery today apparently and crying lots at home, gone off to sleep ok though so fingers crossed. Can't remember if I said about docs but they want a urine sample which will involve me hovering about A whilst she has her nappy off Hmm trying to catch some wee...

Hi everyone else, back later on...

ILovePonyo · 15/11/2011 19:45

Oh and Borg A is deffo not pointing, or anything else, at the docs when we were leaving the doc waved and said "can she wave?" I said no and doc looked disapproving Grin

wigglesrock · 15/11/2011 20:12

WeAreBorg A is not a pointer, which is strange because she was up and about much earlier than I remember the other two being and she's a better player but I think I can remember the other 2 pointing earlier. Although A puts her hand up in a high five action a lot - cute for the first 100 times Grin Although she spent most of Sat with my Dad and if he went tata she was handing over objects.

Anna is standing up and trying with her walker. If she has a devoted grandparent on hand she will insist on them walking about holding her hands but she doesn't want to do it with me.

I also get confused about which Mitford sister you are allowed to like Grin, but I do know that on Mumsnet baby names threads the Mitford sisters names are held in very high esteem, although I always want to ask if that was the fascist, but I am afraid of starting a very MN middle class row Grin

reastie The Danish Killing starts on Sat on BBC4 I think

Tarlia so glad you got speaking to the Dr. I watched both Killings and preferred the US one Shock

jane yes to the American accents Grin when Olivia was about 2 and she would play with her toys, she used to use a very clipped Germanic type accent, it was very strange.

Olivias jabs went well, she sat on my knee and made herself not cry, I swear she willed the tears not to fall, she's such a proud little duck, hates anyone to see her cry/upset.

Grannyapple hope N is soon on the mend and you get a quick call from out of hours.

mancrushedtodeathbyalift well done S, she'll be zooming about in no time.

wigglesrock · 15/11/2011 20:15

ledkr you get a post all to yourself Grin Hope tomorrow goes well, we will all be here for you and will say a wee prayer tonight for you all.

ponyo hope all goes well for dp, thinking of all 3 of you xx

Emski76 · 15/11/2011 20:33

Wow guys, lots of talk. I checked in my lunch break but no time to post.

Ledkr, all the best for u, and D tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

Ponyo, a big scary day for you too, big hugs.

Deb, well done to S on the crawling, is she bugging you by getting into everything yet?

Borg, another definitely doesn't point, he has started waving though, and will walk with his walker with a big grin on his face. He goes from one end of the living room to the other with me turning him round at each end!

Wiggles, glad Olivia's jabs went well, what a brave girl! Did she get a great after?

Tarlia, I'm so pleased you went to the doctor, you should be so proud of yourself, it's not easy to admit things are perfect. Let us know what happens next.

Granny, any update yet?

Busy day at wok today, then Rainbows at 6 til 7, am pooped now. Which reminds me Deb, loving the story of your 'accident' in Sainso's!

40Weeks · 15/11/2011 20:35

Hello girls, sorry I have been so crap at keeping up with you all. I just popped to say good luck for tomorrow dilly and ledkr I know you will both be great but we will all be here thinking of you both. Sorry everyone else I haven't time to catch up proper but I am about to serve dinner, chicken cacciatore dontcha know.

hubbard86 · 15/11/2011 20:38

it's lots of fun ponyo trying to catch wee. They always do it when your not paying attention. I remember tom peeing down my leg when he was in hospital whilst trying to catch pee in a cup. Hope hubby is ok tomorrow.
ledkr sending some very unmumsnetty hugs to you and dh for tomorrow.
granny i hope nate feels better soon and the dr can give you some peace of mind.

Still no appt for freya. May ring tomorrow and find out when it might be. I was in a very dark place last week about it but i'm trying to be more positive as it's not been confirmed and maybe they'll tell me there's nothing wrong.

americanexpat · 15/11/2011 20:42

ledkr - good luck to you and Dilly tomorrow.

Ponyo - good luck to your dp tomorrow as well.

I'm intended to keep L in a rear-facing seat as long as possible. They've changed the recommendation to age 2 in the US and since we'll be moving back before he's 2, I don't want to get him used to FF then move him to RF again. I need to get it sorted soon though, his head is nearly at the top of the Cabriofix. I have stopped carrying him in the seat though (about 3 months ago Blush), once he could hold his head steady and sit on my hip.

Tarlia - excellent that your GP was so supportive. I hope you're feeling better soon.

No pointing, clapping or waving here. He's ridiculously destructive though.

ILovePonyo · 15/11/2011 21:13

Thanks all.

Grin at wee catching hubbard, I can imagine something similar happening to me! Glad you're feeling more positive, long may it continue and you're right, F may be absolutely fine after all!

wiggles a big aww at O, I think I may have shed a tear myself if I'd seen that the brave soldier! A has done high five too which dp was v chuffed about as he 'taught' her (really tho he was just bashing her hand with his Grin)

tarlia congrats on going to doc, its a big step and you should be proud of yourself. Hope hv gets in touch soon. My advice is, take all the counselling/therapy they offer (as well as pills) - it might work, it might not but I reckon its worth a try!

american I quite like carrying dd about rather than lugging the car seat with me, she is very light though :)

I remembered something that annoyed me today - whenever dd has been at nursery her hair is really matted at the back - I had to cut it today b'cos there was no way I was brushing the matted-ness out. I think its b'cos they put her to sleep on her back, often in a bouncer, whereas at home she sleeps on her tummy (which they can't do) Am going to mention it tomo or is that pfb?

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 15/11/2011 21:24

ledkr best of luck tomorrow, be thinking of you an Dilly all day. Do text if you have time and I'll update the troops Grin.

ponyo good luck to you and DP tomorrow too.

tarlia well done on getting to GP, glad they were so helpful and supportive.

tad glad there's another Mitford lover on the thread!

grannyapple sounds gruelling, hope he perks up again really soon. xxx

hubbard keep pestering the drs, get that appt sorted. Sending a hug to you xxx

Weigh in tonight and another 3.5lb off, possibly due to The Sainsbos Incident Grin. Feeling good about myself :). Tummy's still bad, but S only did 2 bad poos today (both mainly composed of raisins) and was much more cheerful so hopefully she's on the mend. We're fairly lax about safety baby-proof here so not much for her to get into trouble in, it's just annoying when she wraps herself round the tableleg and has to be rescued! DH happily walks her round which she loves I can't be arsed am far to busy for that. Grin No waving or pointing here either but when we say WHERE'S JACK? (the dog) she looks round excitedly and says DA which I choose to believe is baby for Jack!

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 15/11/2011 21:26

X post ponyo- I'd mention it, or maybe send in a hairbrush and ask them to brush it after her naps?

wigglesrock · 15/11/2011 21:29

Ponyo could A be a bit sweaty? Olivia is a real sweaty betty and I've noticed the past week her hair being very tatty in the mornings - she sleeps on her back.

emski we went to McDonalds for lunch Grin, Olivia was a tad disappointed in the Tintin toy Grin but when Mr W got home from work, he was able to tell her all the stories and names of the characters so she loves it now!

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 15/11/2011 21:33

Tintin toy?? I'll have to get one for DH. He is the living breathing Tintin I swear, down to the wellies.

ILovePonyo · 15/11/2011 21:38

Good idea re: hairbrush deb ManCrushed I will send one in with her tomo. Well done on the weight loss AGAIN!! and I did Grin at the ahem, incident teehee. I didn't get the namechnage btw

wigs yes A does get a sweaty head when she's sleeping, hmm. I am jealous of the mac'ds, might have to have a trip tomo for my lunch seeing as I'm at work :)

reastie · 15/11/2011 21:41

Just popped on to say hello and good luck to ledkr and dilly

tarlia glad you spoke to your gp - keep us posted as to how you go. Re: baby sensory - I could move up to the older class but it's later so clashes with Alices lunch time. She will be moving to that class when I'm back to work though as MIL will take her and she can deal with the lunch issues

ponyo Hmm to the wee sample. If it helps Alice always loves to wee (and poo) when she has nappy free time. Hope everything goes well for DH tomorrow.

Oh I forgot borg re: pointing etc. A friend of mine's dd had her 1 year hv apt this week and the hv told her it's normal that some babies can't manage to sit up on their own at 1 year, let alone do anything like pointing. It's all the every baby develops differently cherub.

While we're talking of baby development - do many babies babble things like dadadada yet? Alice doesn't and MIL keeps asking if she says dada yet and every time I say 'no, why, should she?' as she asks EVERY time like she should be. I know I should take my own advice with every baby being different, just would be nice to know.

deb your story of 'da' the dog reminded me of mIL story earlier - apparently when DH was little he used to say 'want it' to MIL when he wanted bf. Anyway, MIL's MIL (ie DHs nan) thought DH was saying 'want tit' and got all upset and offended over it Wink Grin

Will be looking for updates from deb for ledkr and of course ponyo for mrponyo

reastie · 15/11/2011 21:43

argh, forgot to say big well done to deb the incredible shrinking woman. I've got my weigh in tomorrow hopefully and I swear if I haven't lost anything I'm giving up until post bfing as I've been sooooooo hungry most of the time

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 15/11/2011 21:49

Thanks reastie and good luck for your weigh-in too. Really don't worry about Alice, they do all develop at different rates and they have no relevance to how intelligent etc they are. Imy didn't say a word till she about 20mo, her language is exceptional now she boasted

chocoroo · 15/11/2011 21:56

Just marking my place after another couple of days at work.

Off to catch up...

OP posts:
ledkr · 15/11/2011 22:04

Thanks all. Gosh ponyo they could have put them in the same ward and we could have chatted-i hope he is ok and it all goes well.If he makes a fuss you can remind him of dilly Grin

Im so nervous its untrue.I just hate the thought of her waking up in pain.

I will text Deb as soon as i can to let you know she is ok.Im so glad dh is with me,i did all this sort of thing on my own before. He is currently making us some "nice ham" sangers for tomorrow.

She has been soooo sweet today too.Keeps hitting my face and then laughing hysterically when i say no.She seems to like bouncing about on the sofa now too, launching herself onto us roughly.

Off to bed now as we have to wake her at 4.30 for her last feed. she is normally awake by then anyway Shock

wigglesrock · 15/11/2011 22:04

reastie A is a babbler but the other two were real talkers as well, quelle surprise I hear you cry Grin, but Sofia didn't walk until later than most babies I knew, Olivia walked quickly but had no teeth until she was 1 and she didn't sleep for 3 years Grin Sofia couldn't get the hang of drinking out of an open cup until she went to nursery school and yet Anna took to drinking out of a cup really easily.

Good luck for tomorrows weigh-in.

ManCrushedToDeathByALift well done Grin, you have to buy a Happy Meal to get a toy Grin
