JParkson · 20/03/2012 11:46

Oh dear. Do you use it in your business or is it just for Jack?

BeaditAli · 20/03/2012 12:18

Haha.... No it's purely Jack's. I bought 2 and cut them into pieces as he has to have one handy and definitely for sleep!

JParkson · 20/03/2012 12:24

oh bless him!

cinnamongreyhound · 20/03/2012 13:43

Glad everyone had a lovely mothers day!

I wouldn't worry about naps dixiebell, I think sleep is a very personal thing and if Arlo and you are happy then leave it as it is :)

Glad moving went well comixminx and hope it feels like home soon. Also hope Aphra recovers quickly!

Glad you had a lovely time at centre parcs beaditAli, I'm going tonight to babysit but not quite sure how it's going to work! Personally I wouldn't worry about cleaning around Jack, imo it's good for children to have to entertain themselves and they can play and learn things when they're on their own. It's not like he spends all day every day with no adult interaction. I feel that nursery/preschool has it's place but it depends a lot on the child and your circumstances and not all children need it to socialise them or for them to learn things. Many homes are better than many nursery's but there are some lovely nursery's out there if you feel it's something worthwhile for Jack. Sorry can't help on the scarve front, that's far too sophisticated for me Wink. I'm very glad that Luke has a muslin now as they are cheap, I have loads and you can pick them up anywhere!

I'm loving the sunshine! Luke is such and outside child, he's loving it too. I can't believe how well he rides around on his little fire engine, so much better than ds1 at the same age. Think I might have to invest in a farmyard as he's really into his animals Grin

Debs75 · 20/03/2012 15:16

JP i can't see your pics. Pity about Horseworld, let me know how it is when you go.

Lucy doesn't have a 'blankie' but she adores babies and cuddles her 3. Last week she even had 1 on her knee pretending to feed her, very cute.

Beadit how did you like centreparcs? We had so much fun last year I would go again in a heartbeat. I think it would be better when the little girls are between 5-10 as there is more they could do. If I had a hefty bank loan in place. I hope they like the week in Hampshire in August. We might even go on the ferry to the Isle of Wight for a day.

BeaditAli · 20/03/2012 16:19

We love it Debs we have been 5 times before so know what to expect. I think it's brilliant...... Really secluded yet loads going on. I like Sherwood as the centres are spread out more so the cycle adds to the adventure. How cool is the sand pit behind the children's waterfall in the pool!!? Grin
There are always deals on and if you self cater I don't think it works out more than other holidays in the UK. I can see how it would mount up with older kids though as you'd probably have to spend on activities other than the pool.
If I win the lottery I'll pay for a mn meets there! Grin

JParkson · 20/03/2012 16:30

D'oh, I went and forgot to set the page to let you see it!

try now! (fingers x-ed...)

PS IOW is gorgeous! We went there last summer, and if you do go, I can highly recommend the Hare and Hounds pub, near Newport (I think it is)

Really pretty pub, and superb food!

patito · 20/03/2012 21:02

HI

Just done a mini catch up (last page only). Im glad you all had what sounds like a good mothers day.

Ive been away for the last two weeks, one week in Gran canaria and then last week back home. I thought about you all as I changed trains at Leeds st. last Tuesday! Had a lovely time on holiday and back home. Unfortunatly Maia got sickness bug on the sat but I decided to travel all the same Sad Blush. Feeling a bit guilty now as i probably shouldn´t have done that as she ended up in hospital overnight when we got back from dehydration. They sent us home yesterday afternoon but she´s still got sickness and diarrhoea. DS started with it last night also Sad.

On other hand Im glad to be back home and feel better with them poorly in their own beds IFYKWI.

JParkson · 21/03/2012 10:23

Oh dear, poor Maia and DS

Hope they both feel better soon.

How was Gran Canaria? I've been to Fuerteventura and loved it!

patito · 21/03/2012 17:45

I loved it, we stayed with a friend. Some parts were a bit touristy and tatty but we had a great time by the pool and found a quieter beach to go to (with no waiters hassling you!).

Kids haven´t been sick for 24hrs but still not eating, and my temp is going up but Im shivering Sad. Its Ds´s 4th Bday this sunday and I just know Im gonna have to cancel due to being ill Angry

lumpylumps · 21/03/2012 19:45

Wow! No action on here then all of a sudden it takes off!

Can't help on the scarf beady sorry. Like Luke, Olly has a muslin. much easier, cheaper and anyones will do!!! You messed up there Wink
As for the cleaning, get Jack to help. Toby loves following me round with his own duster & they both like tidying their toys away. Its as good as any other game & teaches them to be tidy and organised!

Sorry there are poorly babies (and mummies patito) hope everyones better soon. I saw the pics JParkson how are you feeling?

Got a couple of fun days ahead! I'm going to Nottingham with the girls I used to work with tomorrow. We're shopping, eating then going to see Sister Act. Then on Saturday I'm going to Harrogate for my cousins hen do. We've got a dance lesson "dirty dancing" style, the roman baths then a meal & drinks. I'm sharing a room with my cousin (the hens sister) there's only a month between us & we haven't had a night out together for 6 years because 1 or the other of us has always been pregnant! Should be a good laugh!

Oooh lumpy I see a hang over coming your way :)

Do you remember last year that dp's step dad died? Well on sunday his daughter died, she was 43 and had a massive heart attack. Her 17 year old daughter found her. I didn't really know her although I did meet her a few times when fil was ill but it really shook me up.

Is anyone else dealing with tantrums? Grace has started having massive ones when she's not allowed to do something, she's also very clingy again and doesn't like anyone or anything. It's bloody exhausting! I'm trying not to indulge the clinginess but I'm finding it very difficult.

JParkson · 22/03/2012 09:22

Oh no patito, that's rotten that you're not feeling well now.

I'm thinking there might be some bug going round, as DH is also feeling bad, and playing the martyr card to a tee!

Glad you had a good holibop though. Fuerte sounds similar, but I have to say, in comparison to Portugal and Corfu, it was practically tourist-less! We did go in Feb when I was about 9 weeks pg with Mary, so it was very much off-peak. I'd go back in a heartbeat though, even later in the year.

lumpy, Mary helps me with the washing! It's so funny watching her rooting through the basket and trying to shove clothes in the various machines! She emptied the basket onto my lap this morning, and (with DH's help) dragged it to the kitchen, opened the washing machine door (it was just pushed to, not secured shut) and then looked for things to put in it! Cue mushy awws from DH :o

As for the pg, I'm happy enough about it - not ecstatic, but comfortable. I love showing people the pics and hearing the praise/congrats, but still not getting the "woohoo, I'm pg/can't wait/counting down the days" thing.

To be honest I'm more excited about my friends' pregnancies!

newmum001 · 22/03/2012 09:32

Jparkson will it be your second or 3rd child? I think when you get to number 2,3 or 4 etc that it's less of a novelty. Plus you have other kids to look after so you have less time to be excited. I know for a fact that if I got pregnant again it wouldn't be nearly as excitind as the first time round. I think I'd probably think of it more as a means to an end if you see what I mean. I'm glad you're feeling better about it though, I really felt for you a few weeks ago!

comixminx · 22/03/2012 10:04

patito, same here: Aphra's better now and off to nursery today, but I've got her bug instead! Bah. Hopefully not too badly overall: I had an uncomfortable night but today's not too bad so far and I'm going to do some work from home shortly. Particularly bad luck on you guys having the bug while travelling though: big sympathies!

JP, great photos, lovely to see them. I know something of what you're saying about the pregnancy lack of excitement: I'm so busy generally at the moment that I hardly feel like I'm focusing on the new baby the way I did when I was pregnant with Aphra. Hopefully as I get bigger and it all gets closer things will change but if not then I'm sure they will when the new one's born!

Aphra helps with the laundry too: she loves putting stuff in the machine and helping take it out so we can hang it up. She gets frustrated when things tangle together and she can't drag them out!

Dixiebell · 22/03/2012 10:18

Lovely pics jparkson.

Okay, so I took a pregnancy test this morning, couldn't wait any longer. I thought it was negative to begin with, but then looked closely and if you squint and kind of look at it sideways, there's maybe possibly a very faint line...!! Hmm Am I kidding myself do you reckon?! Oh it's so annoying I know you're supposed to wait a couple of days and do another test but I want to know NOW! It is possibly a bit early, it's 26 days since my last period, so maybe that's why....but last month my cycle was only 26 days. Argh. Quite tempted to go out and buy another brand of test...!

Supposed to be working, but just keep going onto internet, looking up pregnancy calculators to see what my EDD would be if I am pg..!!

Sorry, just had to share that. :)

JParkson · 22/03/2012 10:55

Augh, I had a reply all ready to send and Mary clicked a button - zap! All gone!

Grr!

Try again! newmum this will be no. 3, so I think you have hit the nail on the head that the novelty isn't there! I wasn't enamoured when pg with DS, but was over the moon with Mary. There is a 7 year gap between them, and I was very young having DS (19) and it wasn't all I expected it to be! Mary's seemed almost text book, and I loved it so much. The nutty thing is, this pg is very similar to Mary's but I'm not so bothered about it!

Ah well. I suppose also I'm not as free as I was with Mary's pg, in general. I was still employed, and we had 2 cars so I could do whatever whenever; go and see my MIL, go out for decaf coffee with friends, help others with their little problems, and generally things were more relaxed.

Having Mary around I need to be prepared for so much more, and if DH has the car, I feel stranded sometimes. He's threatened to take the bike to work after the Easter hols though, so that would be good if he sticks to it!

JParkson · 22/03/2012 10:56

Ooh dixie! Ya never know...!

JParkson · 22/03/2012 11:01

PS I would wait a couple of days Wink

comix when are you due again?

newmum001 · 22/03/2012 12:09

Dixie I used the first response pregnancy test cause I was impatient. You can get an accurate result with that one up to 6 days before your period is due!

Dixiebell · 22/03/2012 13:19

Okay, just totally ignored JP's advice and went and bought a first response one and....definite faint second pink line!! Woohoo! Haven't told DH yet, so keep it to yourselves won't you Wink!!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/03/2012 14:24

Glad you had a nice break patito and sorry to hear about the illness!

Luke is the king of tantrums newmum001!! I mostly try to ignore it but some days it really winds me up and that makes it worse. He throws himself on the floor if I say no, if he can't have what he wants, if I/he misinterpret what he/I mean etc etc etc! With the clinginess it can make it worse by ignoring it, I know it's hard but the theory is you pick them up when they want you to (obviously within reason!) then over time they feel more confident in your bond/relationship which allows them to be more independant. So sorry to hear your news :(

I walk most places but I hate it when dh has the car as it takes away my choices so I know what you mean JParkson.

Congrats Dixiebell!!!! I was going to say that with both of mine I used so many pregnancy tests but for some reason I didn't manage to get a positive test until several days after my period was due so something like day 30-31. Dh wanted me to buy one with the writing on it as he didn't believe the lines as the test one was fainter than the control. Damn my coil, can't even get pregnant by accident Wink
