reastie it was the easy one pot chicke recipe from the 100 purses (or weaning book...tis in both books!). The lentils one went down a storm too! Need to make some more veg ones tonight tho...none left...I'm getting the feeling that I'll be in the kitchen pureeing a lot Hmm

ponyo totally agree re: weirdos/randoms wanting to touch the baby in asda...I used to work in our local asda many moons ago (was where I met dh..working there too Smile) so I'm more than aware of the nutters in there ! Last time I was there, a middle aged man on a motability scooter with very hard looking tatoos across his knuckles (bear in mind I come from Glasgow & have seen quite a few of these Smile) but he kept touching nate's face with his nicotine fingers...all whilst I'm at the checkout trying to pack bags, keep an eye on my purse etc...turns out his wife was behind me in the queue & the guy was deaf, but gave me the heebie jeebies...wiped Nate as soon as in the car!!

right ponyo I think I misunderstood you - do you have purees or frozen fruit? It's just if you purchased frozen fruit (in a whole fruit form not a puree) then you could defrost it, stew it into puree and then freeze the puree and that's be fine, but, if you had frozen puree, defrosted it and then decided you wanted to freeze it back again then that wouldn't be OK. Does that make sense now?

wiggles did I hear you say you were cooking the AK bolognese? I thought your kitchen didn't get much actual usage Wink

Think I'll be sticking to my usual sainsburys online and ocado (with the occasional tesco shop to spot the local celebs Wink ) in future then and avoiding asda like anything.

tad i Grin and Shock at the idea of garlic on its own. maybe that one can be intro alongside something else Wink

Off to eat cake, Mr W brought some in after work because I sounded tired Grin, this is the key to a long marriage!!

Evening all,

Oh I like Asda, their nappies are quite good, and they always have really friendly staff. I don't work for/own shares in asda BTW.

Nate is also a fan of the houmous on pitta bread, he seems to prefer the more middle class foods! Tried him with his first ready meal, an Ella's cheese pie thing which he was indifferent to. Ah well, at least it's not just my cooking then.

Too tired to think much, N still recovering from his mystery virus and has been hopeless the past few nights, really hope tonight is better......

I like asda's baby clothes/bibs/weaning bits etc too which is why went...reastie sounds like you & I do the exact same shop...tho I'm intrigued as to who the local celebs are round your way...hmm, trying to guess...Gary Rhodes??

Was laughing at a friend's fb post re: our old days at asda...then it struck me...I've been with dh 17 years this year...half my feckin life Shock

I miss Waitrose, and Sainsbury's, and ASDA... I hope everyone's babies are still asleep and dhs and dps have pulled their weight.

S wolfed down a parsnip and apple puree that dh made earlier. Will build myself up to giving him meat. Hmm Got dd's school shoes today and it was nice to have some girly shopping time. Only two days to go till she's at school! Hope everyone's school run goes smoothly tomorrow too. Night all!

Morning all, granny I think reastie was Gloria Huniford! Grin

Mr wiggles is a superstar! I wish mine would bring me cake Sad

I'm quite disappointed, there were no dramas on his stag. They did dress him up as a lady and he wore a mankini thing though. Didn't get my cuddle, he was too bloody hungover.

It's asda or tesco for me, we don't have a waitrose/ocado and sainsbob is too far away. granny i know just the kind of man you were talking about - poor nate!

Morning, have 45 mins before I have to go and get O from nursey, bloody shorter days at the beginning Grin Although she is absolutely knackered from the 2 hours she's in, we've had several major mini meltdowns in the afternoon!!

jane he only brings cakes/chocolate in so he can eat it Grin, although I shout when he brings it in it, I'm also whingey if he doesn't - I'm a contrary madam, can't think where O gets her traits from Shock

Asda have some lovely girls clothes in at the minute and they tend to fit children of a longer leg Grin

jane mankini Shock Grin you can hold the photos thanks!

OK baby waking up (after 2 hour nap. lucky us). gotta go xxx

needto and reastie The brief got into trouble with the police for conspiracy i think,he was contacitng them in nick.He is one of our local bent solicitors. I only spke to the copper once at a conference.
wiggs congrats on the cooking Grin i am making it all from scratch cos of slimming world,so far so good.I will be shredding when mt head stops hurting.
Dilly thinks she is newborn and thus needs a night feed Hmm
She went down about 8 and then woke at 4.30 and took a very slow sleepy 200mls.Went back down till 7.Im not sure whether to fight this or carry on as im worried she may actually be hungry, was thinking of maybe trying a dream feed but feels like a backwards step, any ideas?
Dh pointed out that he had mopped the kitchen floor like i should drop to my knees or something,i said "it was you who made it dirty"
"oh yeah i forgot about that" he chortled "I havent" i mumbled on my way to bed.
I would like an apology and will not converse untill i get one!
Dilly is a grumbly old thing today,i have actually pushed her stander right up to the tv and have baby tv on really loud,do i win the worst Mum award for the day?
Her morning nap is now around 10-15 mins nightmare.

It took me until today to realise you'd all gone off to another thread. Hmm I'm not usually this dim, I swear.

L weighed nearly 18 lbs 2.5 weeks ago, just over the 50th centile. He is in mostly 6-9 month clothes but still fits into some 3-6 month but the arms and legs are getting a bit short. Everyone comments about how big he is but I think he may just be long.

delia - I hope C is feeling better soon. Or at least she gets it all out on MIL before you collect her. Grin

debka - I think we were married on the same day - didn't we discuss this on the antenatal thread last Sept?

Borg - is N waking from hunger or is he just wanting some comfort? You might find The No-Cry Sleep Solution useful (I got it from the library), I didn't use it (he was actually hungry) but she covers adjusting sleep habits while still breastfeeding.

I don't remember if I've told this story already: we gave L a lemon wedge thinking he'd pull a hilarious face but he sucked on it happily. Shock He also loves plain yoghurt, so apparently he's a fan of sour. I started to worry that he doesn't have any tastebuds but he turned down a red pepper lasagne repeatedly.

americanexpat Anna loves curry and I think the reason she has stopped the purees is the blandness of it not the smoothness.

debka my anniversary is on Monday

ledkr was about to start my cooking, and can't find my AK book, Dick and Dora love playing with it, its the novelty Grin and I think A has paid them to hide it somewhere!! I'll have you know Mr W is coming home to a lovely sausage casserole tonight, I'm just waiting on the Tesco ready made mash defrosting Grin Anna still gets up for a feed at 2 or 3am, I've tried dream feeds, giving her some porridge etc before bed, hasn't made any difference. Also tried giving her water incase she was just getting up for a nosy, she wasnot happy!!!

Hi ladies...quick nappy rash question (at least I think it's nappy rash!). Nate has wee sores on his bum, I think from all the pooing (he's gone from 1 a day to now virtually every nappy)...is hurtibg him every time he poos & has nappy changed. Is like a 'sore' on each cheek & is bright red...also weeping a little. Any clues as to what would work best to clear it up...trying to give him nappy free time & using sudocreme at the mo. This is the first time he's had nappy rash & it looks so sore Sad.

Thanks wiggs i was trying to remember if the water had worked, imo it never does. I may not bother with the dream feed, she doesnt finish her last bot until 7.30-8 and i go to bed at 10 so she;s hardly likely to be hungry then.I am not convinced they are hungry at 7 months mind you,i think tis habit,i am going to wait untill she has a bit more to eat and then put an end to the nonsense,i sleep very badly so cant go back to sleep and have a constant headache.
Been for a massive walk with the pram to get Dilly to nap,we were in the cycle of moaning, crawling listlessly, having a bottle, more moaning, does my flipping head in.
Does anyone find the day rolls into one massive clean up now they are weaning.
Breakfast-clear away dishes pick up food from floor and highchair clean baby, clean highchair, clean feet where have walked in it.
Lunch-and repeat.
Dinner-ditto.
Dont know why i bother.
Oh yes is anyone else finding bottles a battle? D hits and kicks the bottle and makes agrunting noise today she has been pulling my clothes too,its like feeding an octopuss.

granny* i am not a big fan of sido creme, too harsh.
I would use water not wipes to clean bum for a bit,dry well and use a cream such as benpanthen or lanosile oe camilosan,go to the chemist,I also layer on the vaseline over the cream to protect from the wee/poo.In my experience that works quickly,if not see the Dr as it may need prescribed cream.
wiggs Is it a packet casserole mix? Grin i hoe you browned the sausages first or you will be picking condoms skins out of it.

Grannyapple I went through a desperate time with Anna about a month ago re this, she bled a little too. Metanium was recommended to me by HV and friends but to be honest I didn't find it great, I also thought it "thinned" her skin a bit and made it crack easier, it has improved a lot recently, I stuck with the sudocreme and [sticking my head above the parapet] a tiny bit of talc. It didn't bother her at all, she didn't seem to be in any pain but it looked dreadful.

ledkr A has somehow managed to put some tuna/pasta crap all over herself and she's mainly spoonfed Hmm She is "playing" a lot with bottles, she is grabbing it, putting it in and out of her mouth, laughing at herself.

granny can't help afraid re: bottom

ledkr I'll fight you for mum of the day award - my bad parenting led to alice toppling herself over at the beginning of baby sensory and she screamed so hard. I felt the glare of the yummy mummys Blush . Btw Alice won't sit still when I feed her milk - her hands are all over the place and she keeps kicking me Confused . My house is permenantly just a mess - had to rush to get her breakfasted (she refused to eat the cereal I prepped so have to do a last min dash for the mashed banana) let alone clear away, then come home at lunch time to quickly make the AK chicken and basil dish (which she refused to eat anyway Angry ) and the mess piles up. I'm now trapped in the sitting room with her though as she moans if I put her in the kitchen with me or leave her in the sitting room. I can't win. This weaning is such a kerfuffle I tell you. Sometimes I think Alice should just live on Ellas Kitchen. Would be much easier and less washing up Wink

Weather is tres horrible today Confused

Hello all, glad its not just me with a moany baby today then, she's been so annoying and I can't actually do anything, so I'm another one with a mucky house and lots of washing up. Plonked her in the pram earlier and went for a walk, she eventually went to sleep then woke up when we got home (of course)

She is currently on the sofa playing with/chewing on a healthy eating book I got Hmm

ledkr I've had to start doing the odd dream feed - if dd doesn't have a lot of her last bottle she'll wake up screaming hungry - I don't want it to be a habit either but its hard to get her eat or drink lots in the day if she just won't take it.

american we gave dd a lemon wedge and she loved it too! We were also expecting a funny face but she cried when we took it from her Grin

granny yikes nappy rash sounds horrible poor thing, good advice from wigs and ledkr as usual.

Better go and being yelled at, grim weather here too boo

My sis reminded me yesterday (when she rang with the numbers) that I'm doing buffet lunches tomorrow, thurs and fri so it's panic stations here getting it all ready! Only 8 each day so not masses, but I have to do 3 sorts of sandwiches/wraps etc, quiche, plus 2 homemade cakes each day. Imy (thank God thank God thank God) is sleeping so I have made and iced a coffee and walnut cake, made a chocolate cake and lemon fairy cakes and there's flapjack in the oven. All in an hour [smug from smugsville] Grin Now having a sit down whilst S doesn't have a feed Hmm.

ledkr S pantses about with her bfs now as well, she has a good one in the am, a good one about 4.30 or so and a bit in between. We Don't Do night feeds any more here either.

Do you know I don't think I've ever been in a Waitrose. Sainsbos here all the way. My dad and stepmumspend my inheritance do their shopping in M&S food.

granny nappy rash is horrid- I would say, get the poo out as soon as he does it, make sure bum is totally dry and use sudocreme. Takes a few days but that's worked with us before. We use washable nappies which help too I think. (poor not hippy!)

reastie been meaning to ask- how are your evenings with Alice now?

Fantastic weather here, all blowy and gusty and autumnal, wish I had a fire to light!

deb wow at all the cooking going on at yours, how have you managed it?! Does S sit quietly and watch you?! I have just managed to make the AK chicken curry but only b'cos I sat A in her car seat and ignored her yelling (bad mummy) The curry looks somewhat like the contents of A's pooey nappies - lovely - but then most pureed meals do I have found.

Have to add to supermarkets - love Asda and /tesco clothes but Sainsbo's aren't that great for me, but fab for kids clothes especially in the sale, I will admit I have already got A some clothes for when she's 2 from the sale Blush
