Happy New Year all! I managed to be out partying til 2am. Am in bed now, obviously...

Bicnod · 04/01/2012 14:45

Happy New Year! Sorry I'm late...

Frogmella lovely to see you :)

Zulu how?! I was on my knees by 10pm but made it to just past 11pm

AuldAlliance · 04/01/2012 14:58

Happy New Year from me, too. May it be a good one. I was in bed at 10:30, slept till 12:30 and then lay awake listening to fireworks in the skies of Nice. Saddo medal for me, I think.

Is anyone else's April infant chattering incessantly? Alex discovered "why?" (well, pourquoi, actually, but it's just as annoying if not more in another language) on Monday and hasn't stopped since. Pourquoi me pas eat more biscuit? Pourquoi your eyes pas work without glasses? Pourquoi shower? Pourquoi towel? Pourquoi socks? It's like living with a tiny existentialist and is simultaneously adorable and infuriating...

PuzzleRocks · 04/01/2012 16:38

Not chattering but singing Christmas carols VERY VERY LOUDLY. It starts the minute she opens her eyes.

Puzz, how did you get on at the doctor's today?

PuzzleRocks · 05/01/2012 07:57

White blood count too high although this could be down to recent cold as apparently could indication of underactive thyroid. Couple of other things but all somewhat inconclusive so now we have to wait 6 weeks and she will have to have another blood test.
Am I being thick but isn't the weight drop (although I don't see it as an issue myself) inconsistent with an underactive thyoid? Confused

OP posts:
ZuluWarrior · 05/01/2012 22:03

Not an expert on kids but usually adult underactive thyroids are associated with weight gain. All sounds like a whole lot of nothing to me. White blood count is a really non-specific test. Are you worried about her? xx

PuzzleRocks · 06/01/2012 07:57

I'm actually not worried, she seems really healthy to me, apart from the cough. We seem to be caught in a loop

Auld all that's very funny - Hazel hasn't discovered 'why' yet but she does talk a lot and comments on pretty much everything that goes on. She also loves singing and will entertain the whole train/supermarket/restaurant with her songs.

Puzzle fingers crossed the next test comes back clear x

Bicnod · 08/01/2012 11:58

Any thoughts here oh wise April mums?

PuzzleRocks · 08/01/2012 12:30

Sorry B, no idea, my two haven't had it yet either.

BB3 · 11/01/2012 15:41

Hello (a belated happy new year)! bic I can't see the link on my phone but I'll look ASAP on the computer x

My toddler STILL doesn't talk at all - waiting for s&l appointment to come through but if I've not heard by the end of the month I'm going to go privately I think! So I'm actually very Envy of your jabbering children!

We've had a horrible 2012 so far - k was rushed to hospital last week with a viral infection that led to bronchitis (started as an ear infection) and he could regulate his oxygen levels so was on 24 hour oxygen and steroids to strengthen his lungs. He was petrified of the doctors who he associated with needles and pain and was finally allowed home at the end of last week after he managed to stay off oxygen for 12 hours without dropping too much although mostly because he was so scared when a dr came his obs dropped rapidly! He's lost so much weight he looks like mowgli from the jungle book with his spindly legs! And the girls have had coughs and conjunctivitis. I've forgotten what sleep is!! K is picking up very slowly and the girls are fine now but I've had quite enough of sickness for this year!!

How is everyone?

I've got to hunt conker down on fb as I need some kilts making for the kids x

Hope everyone is ok x

PuzzleRocks · 11/01/2012 15:50

Shit BB that's rough. Poor old K. And you. Can you get some boringly early nights to catch up? Are the girls sleeping ok now?

OP posts:
BB3 · 11/01/2012 22:27

Hey puzz, girls are fine waking once or twice so not too bad, kara has quite bad coughing fits and struggles to calm his breathing down so he is sleeping with us until that's settled so we can wake up with him and help him relax a bit. How is e now?

I've been going to bed with the kids most nights about 8/9ish since we've been home which is bliss but I keep waking up after nightmares of those bloody hospital alarms ( the ones that sound like they're dying!) as they went off constantly when k was on oxygen because he kept dropping too low - 4 days of that and it's stuck in my head! Still shouldn't complain, he's getting better which is what counts!

Everything ok with you and the girls?

PuzzleRocks · 12/01/2012 07:56

Complain away, it was scary. He will be fine though, he's a tough cookie. Is he on any meds now?
E had a really bad night on Monday which I thought would be a hospital dash but she got through it. Being that much older and able to talk to me about it makes a lot less frightening than when she was two so I do know how you are feeling. If it wasn't for the fun of Christmas I would really hate the winter months as they are always a worry.
Big kisses to the three mini-B's and I hope K is fighting fit soon.

BB3 · 12/01/2012 15:52

He's on steroids and an inhaler for a couple more weeks if I can force them in him (he can barely walk but strong as an ox when forcing back medicine Wink)

Bless e, it's horrible you can just see the panic in their little faces Sad I'm hoping it will get colder so the dampness goes out the air a bit as he can't cope with the air outside. Still as I said, getting better each day. When are e's next tests?

ZuluWarrior · 12/01/2012 18:53

Bloody hell BB. I'm on holidays so on my phone but couldn't go without sending some moral support. I thought you'd been quiet! Poor wee K- so glad he's on the mend but it all sounds very traumatic.

I had my wee one at the paed today and he was completely unconcerned about the heart murmur Smile.

PuzzleRocks · 12/01/2012 18:59

That is good news Zulu. I'm so glad.

Funnily enough Beebs we got two hospital letters at lunchtime. She needs to do bloods again on the 30th. And on the 17th they want to test her for Cystic Fibrosis. I freaked out earlier but I am calm now because I know it just can't be. Didn't stop me from furiously licking the poor girls arm when she got home from school. Blush Apparently she would taste salty.

OP posts:
BB3 · 12/01/2012 19:32

Poor Ellen she must have thought mummy had gone slightly insane!! Any salt residue? Where did they get that thought from? It's so bloody frustrating waiting for them to diagnose something! At least it's not too long to wait I suppose though I bet you'd rather it be done with all and have an answer!

Zulu that's great news - Ayse-Rose has her next check up on Monday (last appointment she was full of cold so could decipher what was murmur and what was chest!)!

Kids hey - constant source if worry and stress! If only they weren't so bloody funny and lovely most of the time! Grin

BoffinMum · 14/01/2012 17:22

Hello all.

Everyone is happy and healthy in our house, although DS1 is being a bit naughty at school.

I am sitting by my newly opened up sitting room fire with logs burning, watching German art films while Felix has his nap and the other kids play nicely with their friends.

We have nearly finished the kit car - just waiting for the canvas hood to be repaired, have to varnish the new veneer on the dashboard with yacht varnish, tape the exhaust, and then we are done!

BB3 · 15/01/2012 15:22

Glad all is good boff, you'll have to post some pics when the car is through!

We are doing ok (apart from mastitis!) took the kids to the seaside today and karahan loved it - it was chuffing freezing but so nice to get some colour back in his cheeks! And we have our first appointment with s&l for 1st feb. Thankfully I'm no longer reliant on the nursery for the contact with them so can take k out of that place.

Can you believe they'll be 3 in a few months?!

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 22/01/2012 19:04

I have to post just so we don't fall off the first page!

BB3- no I can't believe they will be 3 soon I am dreading it, Violet will be 3 on 28th March we will find out on 11th of April if Oscar has got into the school he has been at nursery at (not holding out much hope though) the problem being that even if he doesn't get in Violet is supposed to be starting at that nursery on the 16th so that could be fun! I am just in denial refusing to think about it xXx

BB3 · 23/01/2012 05:39

Frogmella - it's crazy hey?!

Puzz how did the test go? Is e ok?

PuzzleRocks · 23/01/2012 07:43

Hi

Results came back normal, which we knew deep down but was still scary all the same. More blood tests next Monday but we fully expect them to come back clear so all is good at the moment.

How is K now?

Frogmella I keep scaring myself thinking about them starting Reception next year. It can't be that soon.

OP posts:
BB3 · 23/01/2012 07:56

That's good news - must have been horrible though! Hope the next ones go ok.

Ok now seriously, schools? I haven't even got my head properly round nursery as they have been so rubbish - should I be thinking about schools already?! Please say no...
