melissa we've only been to a day festival with children. are you planning to camp?

check what's there for children food and play-wise. the one we went to had a children;s area and loads of great food so my packed lunch went to waste.

might sound silly but if you're still bf then i'd take a bf cover if you're at all bothered about people seeing as i was v pleased to have mine as ended up bf in all sorts of situations.

also take lots of layers/blankets as the temp really dropped towards end of the day.

i always have a small first aid kit with me (in change bag) and it got use for first time ever when i removed a huge splinter from F;s foot [st john's ambulance emoticon]

it;s really sad about our friends mlic. first time it;s happened to close friends for us too. their dd is same age and has known F since newborn

how's A doing wss? couple of our friends' DCs have chicken pox so expect ours to have it soon.

Been to lots of festivals pre-kids but not really since kids. Just a couple of little one-day ones near us.

viksam · 21/08/2011 07:30

melissa lots of disposable stuff might be a good idea, save you carrying around lots of soiled stuff i.e disposable bibs/nappy changing mats/tissues etc. I find my disposable bibs and placemate really usefull when we are out and about.
I think D has a cold Sad hes only had 2oz this morning and is all bunged up and sneezy, bless him. Its about time i suppose, apart from teething runny nose he hasnt had a proper cold for months. He cant seem to stay on his feet either, maybe its effecting his ears too?? Yesterday he mastered standing from sitting which i think is the last major development re walking. I hope DH doesnt want to do anything today, im totally pooped. Feel as though i should have more reserve and stamina but im just so tired at the moment i cant function properly at all. What anyone doing today?

tsc that sounds amazing, I want to go just reading your post and im not a festival person!
I got in at one last night and L was awake he dodnt go back off til 3 and dh left at 4, luckily I wasnt feeling it and only had a few drinks and wasnt even tipsy, but I came in starving and now still really hungry and we have no bread!

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/08/2011 09:41

D has got a whole lot worse sleep-wise. It might be his teeth but who knows, he seems to only nap for half an hour now, I know its not enough because hes still tired after. Hes the same in the car/pram/bed I cant make him stay asleep though.

He had 3 naps yesterday, 2 in the car. It was a long day though and he still went to bed at 8:15pm but he woke about 6 times in the night. Maybe Ive made a rod for my own back Wink

We're going to Farming World today, as you can guess its a big petting farm.

mlic your sweet and sour...do you make the sauce yourself?
dh agree with mlic L just naps once a day now, yesterday dh had him all day and he only napped for less than an hour so by the time I got back he was in an awful mood and was asleep by 6.30, we usually give him one nap that is a long one now.

Im going to look for some new glasses this afternoon, vanity has gone out of the window I now cant focus on much at all!

That festival sounds wonderful tsc. Not sure I'm up for camping with them yet tho. So Fongs managed without his 5 feeds a day? Are you going to stick to that now?

Did you enjoy 'working'? :D

memph I used to make my own s and s sauce but tbh it wasn't any nicer than jar stuff so don't bother now.

mlic chicken and pork belly? < Raises eyebrow maffisly >

I'm thinking about doing a week's meals from recipe books to get me out of my rut of the same meals. Tho I bake from recipes all the time I rarely use them for main meals apart from sometimes as inspiration for making my own up.

Mother's just left having managed a whole 24 hours here without asking me a single question about me or the children despite not seeing or speaking to us for months and not coming up for A's bday. It's lovely having a mother so interested in us < drips with sarcasm >

But to stop the night feeds and to ever get to the point where you're not bf a 4yo in the park, you'll need to stop feeding on demand during the day so he's out of the habit and getting filled up by his meals not milk. You know all this tho, right? ;-)

We're camping for 4 nights in our folding camper. I'm still bfing cake so a cover is a good idea even though L usually pulls them off his head. I'm not usually worried about what people are, but as L is so big and good at walking I get worried about what people think of me still feeding him. Silly of me I know
Dh and I were just talking about fairy wings and tutus Grin The food is pretty good from what I remember but it adds up over 4 days. They have lots for children and is.v child friendly throighout

CakeandRoses · 21/08/2011 13:10

the great thing about a bf cover is that it doubles up as a cape Grin. did you see F rocking my paisley one at the festival we went to?

yy, that's why i said it re the cover - not that you should feel uncomfortable about bf him whatsoever but you might if you think people are looking a bit Hmm given his age etc.

for the record: i've never liked bf in public without using a cover, mainly cos F and A were always bobbing off and on showing my norks to all and sundry but i don;t think that everyone should feel they have to use one.

CakeandRoses · 21/08/2011 13:11

that sounds crapola mlic. will you get a bit of childfree time with your mother taking them off to play today?

OP posts:
MelissaM · 21/08/2011 13:12

Sorry for bad spelling - was trying to correct it when hit the post button -again Blush

tsc that festival does sound good. Like the medella tent

mlic thats how I feel most mornings. I hate having to get up in the night too. It will get better though. W will sleep through again - its probably his teeth.

I'm lacking.inspiration for meals too. I want to try some different veggie recipes (that hopefully dh will eat) but.not sure where t start. I have lots of carrots cauliflower broccolli cabbage beans and courgettes, plus a couple of peppers nearly ripe in the greenhouse. Any suggestions welcome
memph hope you found some glasses

MelissaM · 21/08/2011 13:14

Yep I remember the cape pics - they still make me smile when I think of kids at festivals Grin
