Ah ok then maybe 1 nap in the day will be better then, Ill start tomorrow.

We had a good but tiring day today, it got really hot here, upto 26C. We went to the farm, had lunch then went to the beach so Im hoping D is tired out and will sleep well tonight

MalibuStac · 21/08/2011 21:09

Just checking in ladies, had a melancholy day as my aunt gave me my mums wedding and engagement rings from my dad just set me off thinking of her.

How are you all? The festival sound fantastic I've never been to one. They had the wickerman festival near here a few weeks ago and its very child orientated. You can even hire luxury ti pee's.

Not quite on the ball today. Going to snuggle in with dp for an early night, catch up with you all tomorrow.

memphis83 · 21/08/2011 21:22

stac was lovely for your aunt to give them to you, what a lovely reminder of your mum, will you wear them or just keep them to look at?

I have felt rough this afternoon, dh didnt get home til 8.30 and now he is in the bath, Ive been sick and been sat on the toilet, I felt so weak and shakey that L had to eat on the sofa, I didnt dare pick him up, he went to bed at 7, I feel a lot better now but I know this is dehydration getting worse but no one understands I cant drink much its not not wanting too! I drink and my body just spits it out! I had literally a sip from every drink last night, as I was scared it would shoot from my mouth! Grin

WhatSheSaid · 21/08/2011 22:02

stac nice to have the rings, I really treasure the stuff of my mum's I have - just everyday stuff like some of her furniture and her books, it means a lot to me to have them. I actually wish I had shipped more of her stuff over here.

Meal plans - well dh is doing a low carb/Atkins type thing at the moment so he is basically cooking for himself and eating about half a cow every night. So I'm just having whatever I'm cooking for the dcs at 5-ish.

They have both thrown up this morning so A is not going to pre-school. They are both really cheerful though, don't seem sick at all.

Um, yep, I think you're pretty screwed now tsc...I remember A could climb out of the Portacot when we were on holiday when she was not much older than this...but a big cot is pretty impressive.

WhatSheSaid · 22/08/2011 01:53

I've just noticed too that G has two of her back teeth coming through - the sharp pointy bits are out - so with that and the vomiting she's a happy little thing.

CakeandRoses · 22/08/2011 08:05

Oh crap tsc. That's impressive tho. F never did it and he was in a cot til about 2 iirc.

Wow! That's early wss F's last two molars aren't all the way thru yet.

A up teething between 4am and 5am this morning. Hate teeth.

Oh but my big boy took himself off to the loo all on his own for a poo this morning for the first time. Just came in to wake me up to wipe him.

Chicken pox going round here (did I say this)? But hindsight, I'm now not sure if A had it very mildly last week, the same as F did when he was small as she had all symptoms inc a few spots but I didn't know about it going round til my friends' dcs got it. Am wondering if they have a bit of immunity thru bm (I've had it 3 times so should be v immune by now)

memphis their a bit small at the moment but I will probably wear them when I lose more weight. Are you feeling any better?

wss I used to have all mums furniture but now its mainly jewelery, some papers and things. How are the girls now? Wow at back teeth.

cakes well done mr F. Yy regarding teeth I hate them too.

tsc there's no stopping your boy, seems he's very determined. Is he still in your room?

Have no idea what to do today, have the gp at 4 thinking a lazy day is needed.

Woodlands · 22/08/2011 08:47

Morning all.

Bad luck TSC! Not sure what to suggest.

Wish there was a magic cure for early waking. My mum always says "Well, if you will put him to bed so early", but he's not been asleep till nearly 9pm for the last two nights and he's still been awake at 6ish. It really seems to make no difference.

Have swapped my work days this week (and J's nursery days) so am at work for a full day today and then doing a half day from home on Friday. We're going away Friday night so this way I can pack/clean etc on Friday afternoon. Plus my office is moving so would have to work from home on Friday anyway.

viksam · 22/08/2011 09:15

dh just so u know, D is still having two sleeps but both of them are monitord, his morning sleep is some time around 9-9.30 and for 3/4 hour at the most depending on what time he woke up. then he has a longer afternoon one around 1ish for over an hour, he has no longer than two hours a day. I put him down in the morning because he would never make it through till lunch time, unless i pulled it really early. Even if u have made a 'rod for ur own back' i think u can change it. How was last night? Whats ur plan for today?
tsc he must be a tall boy and a strong boy to get out! I wonder if he would prefer a bed as thats what he is used to when hes in with u? I know hes a bit young though.
I have been thinking about D's development and where it would be nice for him to be when the baby comes at christmas, you all with no 2's, sorry another question!, can u remember what they were doing at 17 months, im just not sure what stage to expect him to be at.
Oh yeah, he held his own bottle this morning and gave himself 5oz of cows milk, no formula in this house any longer!!
cake yay for the poo! well done F, how old is he?
chu hope ur feeling a bit better, i have been meaning to ask, what time are they getting up now, still tragically early?
stac My dad gave me my grandmas engagement ring which was made especially for her some time in the early 1920's, i wear it every day and I love wearing it. Dad noticed it the other day and he commented, i think he likes that I wear it.
wss goodness, back teeth all ready, good to get it over and done with i suppose! Good that she is happy with it all though!
Anyone doing anything nice this week? I got work the next three days and thursday a 7-6 day, thats gona kill me!! then brum at the weekend!

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/08/2011 09:26

Well the plan for today is to make him go til about 12ish but hes been up since half 6 and 12 seems so far away. hes fine atm being a pickle but no moaning or anything.

Im going to go out at 10ish and keep him distracted by things then lie him down in his buggy where he'll hopefully sleep for a decent time. If it really doesnt work Ill go back to 2 naps but Id prefer him to have just one long one.

He went to bed at 7 last night he was shattered, he woke a couple of times but better than it has been recently.

Morning all

I'm still around. Don't have much to say ffor myself though other than complaints or moans, so that's not very interesting. Things are still shit here. Nufff said. fff

wss M has two back teeth completely througfh and two half way there with the corners peeking out, but the middle bit is still missing, she's still missing the last of the four lower front ones though. Weird. She has eleven teeth now.

tsc How scary about your little climber. I suppose a proper bed or mattress on the floor should be your next step. Cool, that you have some fun things to look forward to with DP though. It makes everyfthing easier having fsomeone else grown up around, doesn't ffit.

memph What happens if you force yourself to drink? Do you have to puke?

Mlic Well done on a full nights sleep. I also hate having to go to bed early and always, always delay it, then wake up all sleep deprived. The video you put on FB was just so fitting for us. M has these tantrums all.day.long.for.every.little.thing. I also always thought that this would be the terrible twos, but I'm dreading to think what they will be like if she's behaving like that already. I'm getting well into completely ignoring it now, but it doesn't stop her at all. She will never, ever, ever give up.

stac Getting that ring was lovely but probably so painful ffat the same time. Thinking about you!

viks and chul How is pregnant life? I'm getting really uncomfortably big and hufffff and pufff all the time. The other day M gave a huge moan or sigh when she bent down. I wonder if she thinks that this is the normal thing to do, cos I do it all the time Grin. I have also broken a toe which makes getting around even harder. Oh well.

I'm due end of October so I'm reading October and November ante natal threads and on the fNovember one, one lady had a crash section and a tiny little girl Shock According to my last estimated measurement by my doctor, my baby boy is already bigger than this little girl was when she was born. Sent me (and it seems everyone else on this thread) into a mild panic.

So we sortedf out fquite a ffew things at the weekend and are not as unprepared as we felt. Mainly cos we still have most of M's stufff.

fcake I really had to laugh at you liking a wake up call of Can you wipe please. How things change, ey Grin Hope A had mild cp and it's done and dusted now.

woodlands Have you tried putting him down earlier rather than later? I know it sounds weird, but M usually gets up at 7, whether we put her down at 6, 7 or 8.

fHave to get a few jobs done today which with my energy levels being at an alltime low, will be a challenge. Hope you all have a lovfvely day.

kkfairybrains · 22/08/2011 09:56

Tsc that really made me Grin'i can't have him roaming round the house all night'! A girl I know was telling me her little one jumped out of her cot on the day of her first birthday! You'd wonder how the hell they manage it! How does F seem today? Unusual to be like that. Hope he's ok
Stac thats so nice about the rings. You could wear them on a chain of you wear one. How is J getting on in school now? He looka very handsome in his uniform!
Mlic glad you got the sleep you needed. When its so constant like that it really wears you down. Very funny about W's teeth! E is teething now again. She's been suffering with these teeth on and off since before her birthday so hopefully a few will come together to make it worthwhile!
Cakes not good on your front with the teeth either :(. F done really well! Such a proud moment! Are you working today?
Vik i'd imagine he'll be walking by that time and probably saying a few words. As far as anything else goes I dunno! You're really getting excited now aren't you!
Oh yeah dp's uncle who had a baby the same week as us- his wife is 4 months pg! I only found out yesterday. It's lovely for them and I have to admit I 'm a bit jealous!
Had such a busy week so thats why I didn't get posting. There was a huge irish music festival where I live all week. It was just brilliant! The whole town gets closed off all week and you're just walking down the street and theres people from 5-75 playing music and singing and dancing. I can't even describe the feeling of it it's brill. It's still going on today so we'll probably take a walk in to town later.
London on saturday! Can't wait!

MalibuStac · 22/08/2011 11:31

mlic post earlier, its always better when you get a decent sleep doesn't it.

trudy what's been happening with you? Is the little girl on your thread ok? Can't believe your due so soon.

viks how are you managing to work all these hours? Have to say I'm quite excited for all you on here expecting lo's. Are you organised? My aunt said every time she looked at the rings she thought of mum so now I get to do the same. I told my dad I have them, quite strange for him as they split when I was a baby.

kk that sounds brilliant, I'd be jealous of your uncles dw too. Dp suggested getting a chain for them till I lose weight so I might do that.

tsc is K nervous about her results? When are they due out? Keeping everything crossed for her getting the results she wants.

dh all you can do is try changing the naps. R just thinks sleep is for wimps so doesn't bother sleeping.

woods did you have a word with the nursery regarding J's naps?

Woodlands · 22/08/2011 11:41

I haven't been into nursery since last Tuesday - DH did the drop off and pick up on Friday and the drop off this morning. I did suggest to him that he asked them to get him down for an early nap this morning and didn't let him sleep too long this afternoon.

We've been going through the transition from two naps to one for a while, but more often than not he still has two naps. If he wakes before about 7.30am there's just no way I can keep him going till 12. He's ready for a nap any time from about two hours after he wakes up. However he often doesn't actually go to sleep till maybe 10, and then he won't go to sleep till too late in the afternoon. I'm finding it really hard at the moment managing his daytime sleep.

just gave in for the first time ever. i was nearly crying myself she was sobbing so much and looking at me like 'why are you doing this to me' Sad

i'm not sure what i'm going to do now. for some reason it wasn't so bad with F, maybe cos he was only 6m he was more accepting of it.

fuck.

oh no cake, that sounds really hard.

mlic, we've had a couple of days like that recently - for some reason the afternoons do seem easier to get through without a nap. A cuddle or a rest in the pushchair seem to give him a second wind. The trouble is that if he doesn't have lunch before his nap then he won't sleep for very long, usually just the one sleep cycle, as he's hungry. Maybe I should just give him a really good snack at 10.30 and then get him down. Again this doesn't help at nursery because they don't do a mid-morning snack and lunch is at 12 (though of course they can have it when they wake up if they're sleeping at that time).

CakeandRoses · 22/08/2011 13:14

maybe you're right mlic, i'll have to relax about it now. i just hate the fecking things and wish i'd just got rid of it at 6m like planned.

dh also said maybe it's harder with her as she so rarely cries so when she does it's like her heart is breaking Sad

he was quite surprised about how negative i am now about trying to take it away again - i'm usually really strong-willed once i make my mind up to do something. i just know my limits and know i can;t hear her so upset again.

well impressed with W's range! A hasn't said anything new in ages.

vik i'll reply to you once i've had a proper think and looked at my records
