Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ok, I'm starting to wonder if getting out of bed at all this week was a good plan! Confused

Insurance company sent people out to fix the broken lock, so that's resolved. Mindy's recovered from the bug, so she's well again.

So we set off to have a weekend away with family and, as we pulled out of the supermarket having picked up some flowers for our host, someone drove into the back of our car at the junction. Shock

The boot won't open now which means our car isn't roadworthy. Everything seems to be fine with the insurance, we shouldn't be liable. A courtesy car will be with us by the end of the day or tomorrow morning, but with a 4.5 hour journey to the South of Wales to do, we're now on doing a flying visit from Sat to Sun instead of a leisurely Fri to Sun.

We also need to keep a whiplash watch on all of us. And will the car seat need replacing too? Confused [dies]

Woodlands · 19/08/2011 15:26

Oh no, what a pain Spirael! Glad you're all OK. I think you probably do need to replace the seat... I found this guidance, which is American, but it seems sensible:
www.nhtsa.gov/people/injury/childps/ChildRestraints/ReUse/RestraintReUse.htm. But if the boot was damaged I think you may need to replace. Your insurance should pay out.

MalibuStac · 19/08/2011 17:16

Jeezo spireal you've had a crap time this week, are you getting checked by the doc just in case? Some people are crap drivers.

woods that thread on wifi names is so funny isn't it? Are you changing your name?

Dylthan · 19/08/2011 18:39

spirael oh no what an awful week you're having :( they do say that bad and good luck come in threes. So you should be due some good luck now. :)

memphis83 · 19/08/2011 19:00

spirael bloody hell your having a time of it at the moment, as your not at fault I would get the persons insurance to payout for a really expensive carseat. Forgot to say the other day when you said glad they didnt see the brick and put it through the window, when we first moved here we locked ourselves out and in desperation we were both throwing bricks at the window and couldnt smash it, so it wouldnt be that easy! Grin we now have spare keys at various people houses as I lock myself out a lot!

had a mare of a night, why wont L sleep when dh is away, I slept for about 1.5 hours last night then had work, I had loads of people saying you look awful, I couldnt add up, gave people wrong colours and sizes and ended up crying! went to subway for lunch and the person making it made me sit down as she thought I would keel over! so i went and treated myself o a safety chain for my lovelinks bracelet!

spirael thats poo, I hope ur journey goes without a hitch toorrow and you have a lovely time, u defo deserve to!
mylife I have booked an appointement at a nursery in view of D going in sept 2012, for those with childeren at nurserys do u have to pay when ur on holiday? also whats a decent hourly rate? I dont know what their rules are about anything but the lady was lovely and its not far from the school i would imagine he will go to so i thought it would be a good idea.
The poo stories are funny........untill it happenes on my cream carpet.
We went for a lovely walk today and D spent a lot of time toddling around and scraping in the dirt etc and now he has a localised rash on one side of his face, any ideas anyone? its not bothering him so not to concerned.
chu is ur DH back now? Cat remember how long he was away for.

Sorry everything's so shit spirael

Re the 60 nappies a day, we had 20 under 2's so that's an average of 3 a day each which isn't that much when we were open 7.30-5.30, some had 2, some 3, some 4, depending on how long they were there and poos etc. Also young babies seem to need them changed quite a lot, lots of weeing.

I think nurseries just change them often so they know the child isn't being sent home in a sagging soggy nappy, it's just a routine they have in place. it wasnt so bad, made the day go quickly tho not great on yr back.

OK i had a night out at friends quiz team night fundraiser at local primary, got back to puking G, i have had 4 hrs sleep. What do you give puking babies? A has never had vomiting so not sure, just water and plain stuff like bread i guess?

memphis83 · 19/08/2011 20:36

DH has only just got in, he has lost his wallet again, he retraced his steps and hopes its in a workmates van, so ive sent him out to get the chinese!
vik I will have a better night as im not getting up to L once, dh can and will do it, he wouldnt dare tell me its my turn to go!
mlic enjoy your pizza
dh that poo story is funny, L has only poo'd once on the long shaggy rug after he did it he sat in it so i had to pick it from stringy rug!

WhatSheSaid · 19/08/2011 20:40

And exscuse my typing, wriggly pukey baby on my lap.

Woodlands · 19/08/2011 21:29

When J had a vomiting bug i gave him plain rice and banana for the first meal or two.

My nursery costs about £45 per day, £28 for a half day and yes, you do pay even when you're on holiday. We're away the week after next but paying for nursery weekly at the moment until we get childcare vouchers up and running - it's going to hurt next week to pay £100 for a week's childcare we're not even using!

Napping at nursery went well today, DH wasn't working (he had to do his tax return and a few bits and bobs) so he got J to nap at home this morning from 9-9.30, then apparently he slept in nursery from 1.50-3pm which is brilliant. It was lovely to see him when I got in from work at 6.15ish but I couldn't really enjoy it as my boobs were really uncomfortable! I was wishing the time away until his bedtime feed - oh the relief!

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/08/2011 08:40

spirael sorry about your car it does sound like a v shit week for you, really hope you get some good luck now.

We're going to Surrey today to see DHs granny, his dad/stepmum are driving us up there and paying for our meal, just a bit worried where/when/how D will sleep this afternoon. He'll either be good as gold at the restaurant or bored and whingy the whole time.

MelissaM · 20/08/2011 08:59

We pay similar to you woodlands for nursery but ours does an hourly rate, then extra for meals (works our £3 a day). We pay for holidays, but get 2 weeks at half fees. They don't charge for bank holidays - most round here do, and are flexible - if u need to change my working days, with notice they can swop the children if they have space.

Wrt nappies, think I'm similar to you cake, but with an extra one in the morning. Usually 6.30/7 am when L wakes, then after breakfast or by 9 (even if hasn't poo'd he's soaked). I'll check him again before his morning nap if he has one or going out. After lunch before his usual nap, and check again after. Then I try to get through to tea time unless he does a poo. I usually have change him once over night too, but I do use washables

MelissaM · 20/08/2011 09:01

spirael sorry you've had a rough week. Hope u have a nice time away even if shorter than intended. At least traffic should be lighter today

CakeandRoses · 20/08/2011 09:33

dh out til 1.30am counselling the husband of a couple we're close to who are prob going to split up Sad, i can't sleep when he's out and then when he did get home we sat and talked about it til 2am. then F and A both were up a couple of times.

and mother is on her way to stay for the night [joy emoticon]

they say it comes in threes spirael so hopefully it'll be all good from now on.

vik ours is £50 a day for under 2s. yes, we do have to pay for hols. with ours there is a bit of wriggle room if they're part-time and you just want to take them out for a day and send them in another day that week instead iyswim? same with bank hols (if they go on mondays) altho many nurseries won;t do that so bear that in mind when choosing days.

wss how's A now? i give similar to woodlands suggested

spirael that's an awful week :( fingers crossed for a much, much better one to come!

DH has another 2 weeks away :( I hate this so much, I can't believe I used to manage 4 months at a time. Mostly it's cos I feel so rough, makes the 2 littlies that much harder but still, I miss him! I can't wait to leave this job and get a more 'normal' one. They're changing the pension scheme again which is one of the main perks to the job, I think it's shocking the way DH signed up to certain things at the beginning and they just move the boundaries all the time to take all these things away and he can't do anything about it.

cake that's difficult for your DH, one of my friends split up with her husband last year and I found it really stressful. Sounds like a long night, hope today is nice and chilled for you.

I'm up at 5am, G woke up covered in puke and poo at 4.30 Sad.

She was ok yesterday though - was sick once in morning and then fine for rest of the day - and she's cheerful (apart from when I had to get the sicky/pooey clothes off her) so hopefully it won't last too long.

memphis83 · 20/08/2011 18:38
