Although thinking about it, maybe I'm the only one with the misfortune to have early risers right now Grin

DS was up at 4.39am - convinced him to go back to bed, but he was up for good by 5.30

hi tea
nice to have a new thread
hi gotart - not suprised you are stressed!! that must be horrid
children can be so trying sometimes being a mum is such a hard job!!

hi tea - mine dont get up quite so early
dd1 gets up @ 6am dd2 is usually 7-7:30am

went to beale park today was lovely

GotArt · 02/07/2011 22:04

Thanks for the support. We went for a nice walk at the lake today... trying to tire out DD but she still fought about a nap even though she was yawning between cries and protests. Hmm Also for me to just get out of the house, which was going fine and quietly until DD1 poked DD2 in the eye... it was downhill till I got them both in the car. Anyhow, 1 is sleeping, the other is BF, and I'm eating.

DD1 has been rising at 6 too, much to the chagrin of DH. Poor DH.

Teaandcakeplease · 03/07/2011 07:19

I know Beale Park. Ahhh that's great Tink.

I remember how DD changed once DS arrived and started to play up a little, with regards to naps and general obedience I found it especially hard as DS was always crying, so I wasn't really able to give DD the attention she was craving and missing. I was also tired and grumpy which probably made it all worse too. You sound like you're doing a great job GA. I was lucky if I got out at all in those early days x

It was DD's school fete yesterday, so I helped on the nursery stall, which was the cakes, teas, coffees and squash. Whilst ExH brought the children to play there too. He had to dash off at the end and left me helping on the stall and trying to watch the kids. LOL

DD did have a lovely time and was off playing with one of the girls from her class. It's so good how things have changed with her from a year ago only. I cannot wait for DS to get a little easier. He begins two mornings a week in pre school in Sept. I remember how much DD changed once she began 2 mornings a week. So I'm hoping it'll benefit DS, even if it bankrupts me Smile I still cannot face potty training him yet Blush

ExH's OW has graduated with a 2:1 and has started work in Amersham now and is renting a townhouse there. So the dynamics for ExH and I are changing now on contact of course with OW's jealousy and paranoia so he's seeing the DCs less at the moment and OW is pushing to be introduced to the children. So all fun and games here...

Sorry I've been absent - hellish week. Poorly ds1 was first involved in an incident at school, then off sick all week (which explains the incident) and we've discovered he's lost half a stone, for no apparent reason, other than he is obviously very tired and run down and looks pale and wan. We were both at the hospital for bloods together on Friday and I've been referred back to my old neurologist for another MRI. Ho hum - life continues as usual in the Moose household. Hmm

Tea, I bought my foot gauge online from the Startrite website - think it was about six quid.

GA, sorry to hear you are having a tough time with dd2. Have you considered trying a baby swing? I found all three of mine used to cry at mealtimes and bedtimes and the swing was a godsend - it meant the rest of us could sit and eat together and I could sort the boys for bed without a screaming baby making it more stressful. Would recommend borrowing one to try first though, as not all babies take to them. We have a Graco one that played music and a heartbeat, which really seemed to soothe dd. Such a shame you're not in the UK, as you could just have it if you were - its just sitting in storage and we won't be needing it again.

tinkbig · 03/07/2011 20:19

stripeywoollenhat · 05/07/2011 21:32

hello all Smile
thanks for the new thread, tea. sorry to hear about the early riser - c won't nap, hasn't for more than a year, but she does usually sleep till 7.30. i think we're going to wind up dredging her out of bed by the time she's school age....

glad you had a good weekend, tink

moose, sorry about illness, hope he's feeling better, and that your neurology trip goes okay

well, we had a lovely week in france - c made friends with the gite owners' little girl, who is 3 months older than her. she had a really good time, i think. my holiday would have been improved by the occasional glass of wine, but i guess you can't have everything... my bump is progressing nicely, the little one is discernibly wombling about in there now, and so long as i don't drink too much coffee, i'm feeling pretty good. so all well here, apart from poor dp who is coming down with something and is all achey....

Teaandcakeplease · 05/07/2011 21:48

Envy at the 7.30am wake up. My monster was up at 5.10am. Speaking of which, I should be in bed, but the lure of mumsnet and reading a funny thread has delayed me Blush

Lovely to hear from you Stripey Smile and baby.

hi tea and hkz

GotArt · 06/07/2011 21:48

Waves to all too! I also need Wine , but will settle for the last beer in fridge that is patiently waiting for me to put DD2 down. Grin

Nice to hear trip to France was lovely stripey and bump is coming along. HoHum... I'm dreaming of Paris. lol

We went to the wee water park around the corner from us yesterday... its pretty lame but there's a fountain and a play set. Today though we went to Thetis Lake again... got there early, 9.30 am and got a good spot in the shade. Just as we were leaving, DD1 decided to walk off in the 10 seconds I took my eye off her to plop DD2 in stroller. My heart sank. 3 other parents helped me look for her... she was just sitting about 30 feet away, but in the sea of people and kids, you don't see them. Scared the crap out of me! Otherwise, we had a nice time.

Tomorrow, we are going to Sooke Potholes... its a glacial river that has smoothed rocks with all sorts of potholes in them. There's one spot we call the washtub, where the water rushes in and swirls around and there are some ledges to sit on in it. So fun. I'll post some pictures on FB.

DD2 has passed out... BEER TIME!!! Grin

stripeywoollenhat · 06/07/2011 21:55

i'd like a beer Envy not cut out for this abstemious lifestyle, at all....

GotArt · 07/07/2011 00:01

Grr... just as I was putting DD2 down, DD1 woke up... oh well. We painted out toenails. Grin She's watching Peep and the Big Wide World and I'm farting about here.

Teaandcakeplease · 07/07/2011 07:57

Oh wow GA Thetis lake sounds wonderful, as does your trip tomorrow Envy Glad V was ok and wasn't far off. How's P at settling now?

hi ladies Grin

gotart sounds great and enjoy today

having a good day here

GotArt · 07/07/2011 19:38

Ah! Overcast today so I'm taking advantage of cooler weather and going to do some baking. Bought DD1 a bucket of foamy stickers to occupy her... needless to say, they are strewn all over. Hmm

Pips is still not happy to not be attached to me. She was in such a great mood this morning, smiling and cooing, so I past her to DH, began crying. She's only 8 1/2 pounds but feels 20. Hope she snaps out of this by September... I'll be working 2 half days a week.

Hope you all are having a good day.

GotArt · 07/07/2011 23:57

Argh... only managed to get a lemon poppyseed cake done, although its very good. Grin

I somehow managed to forget one ingredient from 3 other recipes that I wanted to do today. Hmm

tinkbig · 08/07/2011 15:23

hi gotart

cooking sounds gd

GotArt · 08/07/2011 19:15

Celebrating 21 years today, (we've been together longer than we've lived with our parents, lol)... DH's gone to work and I'm cooped up with two little ones as it tries to rain outside.

Ah well, guess I'll make some more cookies. Grin

When does the novelty of newborn wear off on DC1? DD just won't leave her be. Just put DD2 in swing and went to washroom. Everything was fine, then a loud cry and came out to find DD1 tugging at her, trying to give her a hug. grr

Teaandcakeplease · 08/07/2011 20:13

Ahhh how sweet, DD used to just hurt DS when I left the room Sad

Happy anniversary GA Smile

Just had FIL over as he's down this way for work meetings and MIL phoned whilst he was here to talk to the kids. I'm seriously growing in my dislike for my ex's family Sad All sorts of feelings were rising to the surface whilst he was here. I now feel guilty.

OP posts:
GotArt · 09/07/2011 05:34

Thanks!

Sorry about ex-in-laws. What is it about them that is making you feel guilty. Wink Don't worry too much. Grin Ex being the key word.

Well it never rained today but it was windy and cloudy and crumby but after dinner, the sun came out and the wind died so we headed to the lagoon for a stroll on the ocean. It was really lovely.

I was wondering why all the hats and just saw on the news about Harry Potter and the longest red carpet. Extreme or what? [hsmile]

Have a lovely Saturday.

Teaandcakeplease · 09/07/2011 07:55

Your country sounds so beautiful GA. A stroll by a lagoon. Sounds like heaven!

Ya they are my ex in laws Wink I just don't like confrontation, want to retain my dignity etc. Think I need to become more bolshey Blush

GotArt · 09/07/2011 23:50

OH MY GOD!!! Please tell me I'm not the only mother who bears clingy babies. DD1 was the same. Can't put them down. EVER! DD2 just won't be put down. If she falls asleep, I lay her down in the swing, basinette or bed, I've tried all on different occasions, different combinations, but she's awake within minutes, and as soon as I pick her up, she stops crying, but will cry until then. DH can only hold her for about 30 seconds before she kicks off. I'm going nuts! And the sling only lasts for about 15 minutes, then she's starts there too, unless we are outside walking.

PatTheHammer · 10/07/2011 12:29

Bookmarking the new thread so I can fail miserably at keeping up with everyoneSad

Glad to see all is well apart from fractious babies and the usual toddler high jinksGrin

Went to an evening mumsnet meet up in Cheltenham last night and it was bloody great, had a few glasses of wine and met some lovely ladies. Half way through chatting realised I had somewhat neglected my lovely post natal friends so just sending a big unmumsnetty hug to you all!
