debka · 09/07/2011 13:26

ledkr you and GF may be geniuses- S had a 4am feed then slept till SEVEN THIRTY today!!!

jane fingers crossed... try and get another one in today Wink

grannyapple hi again Grin

reastie glad you survived the ILs. Am mucho Envy at Mummy And Daddy Time, we STILL haven't dtd yet, I'm properly back in the mood but DH's TV is more important to him than getting to bed with me Sad.

Grannyapple · 09/07/2011 13:47

Jane funny you mention that...he's going to get a kilt next year for SIL's wedding next July....crikey a wedding with a 17 month old, that'll be fun, won't it...not!

Enjoy ur day in the westend...I miss that part of Glasgow, tho last time I was up it seemed like Byers road wasn't what it used to be(quite a few places had closed).

wiggles thx for the update!

reastie I know...but can't believe that 20mins/day is all it takes...in theory! Quite a few of us tho have noted that we must do mire pelvic floor exercise since partaking in the old shred Grin.

Deliaskis · 09/07/2011 13:58

Ledkr I agree about leaving to cry, although from reading the book, that's not a big part of what I have taken from it, more just about feeding and sleeping patterns.

reastie that I don't mind at all. As soon as C is old enough, any time before 7am on a weekend is going to be time for 'independent play'!

D

reastie · 09/07/2011 14:24

ledkr and delia we have started leaving alice to cry sometimes and i hate it but sometimes have no idea what else to do and do feel like a mean mummy. we count the time and do it max 1o mins but it goes very slowly i can assure you. frau ford says this is ok i think Hmm Shock . does anyone else do tghis or am i queen of mean? Confused

deb dont be jealous - weve only dtd properly once as were waiting for my coil. Angry on your behalf to ur dh. hes still no better then?

americanexpat · 09/07/2011 17:59

reastie - I let L cry but try not to leave him to cry alone - something I read about crying being their only form of communication and ignoring it shows them you're not listening (or something like that). I'll sing to him, hold his hand or just lie next to him so he knows I'm there.

tadjennyp - A red Radio Flyer wagon? The staple of American childhoods. :) Now I've been looking online where I can get one for L and bloody hell they're expensive. Shock Glad to hear Anna is doing well, though I briefly confused your Anna with wiggles' Anna and wondered what the heck you were feeding your baby. Grin

Any BFers have their periods start again yet? I had some cramping and some pink discharge yesterday so figured it would start soon but it's stopped now. Confused Had the same about 2 weeks ago as well.

Emski76 · 09/07/2011 18:00

Deb, dobt worry, we haven't dtd yet either, it's more me than dh tho. It's just the last thing on my mind, plus ive put on about half a stone and feel so unattractive naked! Luckily he's very patient.
Reastie, I don't leave Noah to cry, bur only because he goes from whimpering to full on gasping for breath crying within seconds. I do plan on doing controlled crying at some point as he seems to ve getting worse at settling himself!
Had Grampys funeral yesterday, it was awful. My poor mum was in such a state it was horrible.
We spent the day out as a family today and it was fantastic. We went to the museum, then Cabot Tower then played on the green, it was lovely. Had to laugh tho, on the way to the museum asked Ben what be thought we would see there, he hesitated then said 'Pineapples?'. I looked at dh and almost wee'd myself with laughter!
Granny, good luck with 10k. Are you z keen runner then? I've just been for my first run in weeks, it almost destroyed me! Hoping it gets easier soon.
Hope you've all had good days. Reastie, glad you survived the in laws.

americanexpat · 09/07/2011 18:38

We've only DTD once (months ago) and it was really painful on my episiotomy scar. Now I'm usually so exhausted I can't be bothered. DH doesn't seem interested either which makes me paranoid that I'm flabby and unattractive (flabby I admit to).

ledkr - I think everyone is taking your advice because we're getting increasingly desperate. Grin L seem to have trouble settling himself back to sleep in the mornings, he won't sleep in his cot but will sleep in the swing. I'm sure he'd eventually go back to sleep but at 5am I'm not in the mood to wait it out.

ledkr · 09/07/2011 19:18

try 2 sob sob.
american when d was at her worst waking at 3 or 4 and not going back to sleep we took the swing up and put her in that for the rest of the night,d is never good at going back to sleep once up-like me really-so its crucial to get her sleeping later, tonight will be more proof as she hasnt napped and so is really overtired but we did go for a very early bedtime so watch this space!!
Off on my mn meet up now,i feel like im going on a blind date. Ella is full of compliments re my appearance and asked me to save my spotty sling backs for her,i love having a daughter Grin

Emski76 · 09/07/2011 19:32

Ledkr, hope you have a good time with the mnetters. Re the weight gain. I don't mind the half stone weight gain so much, but where my stomach muscles split during pregnancy and still haven't gone back, the flab is really poking through to the point where I look five months pregnant!
Ella sounds so lovely.
Watching last weeks Luther with dh and a glass of wine. Oh he is yum

wigglesrock · 09/07/2011 19:32

emski glad you had a lovely day today, and am sure your Mum is really appreciative of the support you have shown her (know you mentioned you didn't see your grandfather).
Grin at pineapples

reastie glad "the visit" went well, hope you had a better afternoon.

americanexpat my best friends brother in law bought a red radio flyer for his son, they have a holiday house by the beach. My girls fell in love with it the minute they saw it, pointed out to them they had a snowball in hells chance of getting one and that their first car would probably be cheaper Grin

wigglesrock · 09/07/2011 19:35

Took me ages to actually post my post - bloody kids, always wanting something Grin

ledkr have a fab time tonight

emski form an orderly line for Luther please, you can't just blow in here and demand an audience with Mr Elba Wink

suzym1984 · 09/07/2011 20:17

Hi! Thanks for the reassuring words re: KIT days. I am a teacher and back properly in September (altho only part time) but by doing these KIT days I get full pay all thru the 6 weeks holidays, which i couldnt turn down really!

ledkr have fun tonight! I have been trying H with an earlier bedtime and this morni g he slept til 8am!!!!! with no stirring!!!! he refused and afternoon nap today tho so we had an early 6.30pm bedtime, so lets see what happens!

emski glad everything went ok with the funeral and you have hjad a nice family day.

reastie we sometimes let H cry for a few mins. If he wakes up and cries cos he is still tired then picking him up makes him worse. I tend to go in and out and stroke his tummy etc.

we've DTD about 5 times maybe and i just have NO interest whatsoever, feel sorry for DH!

We are looking at showhomes tomorrow, closer to parents so more help with childcare. Will mean a longer commute for me, but will hopefully balance out by being nearer my mum!

wigglesrock · 09/07/2011 20:24

suzym1984 We moved closer to my parents two years ago, mainly necessitated by Mr Ws job but it has worked out really well for us. For silly things that we hadn't thought of, a quick babysit while I went to the hairdressers, not having to trail everyone round Tescos etc. Although ages away, its also really handy if one of the girls is sick from school when I'm due to work. I loved looking at showhomes, we bought a new build, and you get so many good ideas from having a nosy, oh am excited for you Grin

reastie · 09/07/2011 20:46

suzy we couldn't live much closer to my parents (4 doors away) and it's great - if alice is having a nightmare day I can pop over there and they will play with her and give me peace to sit with a cuppa. mil is also a shortish drive away but lets not mention that

ledkr enjoy the mn meet - bet you are looking fab Grin

the letting her cry thing not working at all tonight Hmm don't know how to get her to sleep Confused

suzym1984 · 09/07/2011 20:47

Thanks wiggles looking at showhomes is one of my favourite pass times! It will take my commute from 10 mins to 35mins Sad but I really miss my mam and dad and agree that impromptu babysitting will be a dream as we have no help up here now! I love new builds, and as our house has been on the market for a while we are hoping to part x

Tarlia · 09/07/2011 23:27

emski im so sorry to hear about your grampy. Thinking of you and your family

Good luck and have fun tomorrow granny

Good luck with the house viewings, Suzy.

deb, how is your mum keeping?

restie do you think the ILs are being pains because they know you and A see your parents often as they live so close? Not that it is an excuse for anything! I know my MIL is jealous of my mum& family although they are in another country from us so really, if she were nice she'd most certainly see us more often.

Wonder how ledkr is getting on. Im excited to hear!

No period here yet, though I seem to get cramping around once a month. A year without has been bliss, I dread them coming back!!

Ps I've lost two posts today, grrr!!

suzym1984 · 10/07/2011 07:52

Morning! Well, we had a 6.30am start today, not great but H had been in bed since 6.30pm so I guess thats his 12 hours! No early morning stirring tho which is great. I think the key for us is to make sure H gets a long nap at lunch time (2 hours) and then if no afternoon nap push for an early bedtime. Gonna keep trying this, altho its hard when he wakes from his nap after 45 mins!

Also, H normally babbles in his cot for a while when he wakes up, but today he woke and starrting screaming for me. Is this normal? He did then drink a 9oz bottle, have a bowl of porridge and half a banana so I guess he was hungry!

Show homes today, I am soooooooo excited!

But then KIT day tomorrow, booooo! Altho I did go shopping yesterday to buy my new work stationary and a nice pink pencil case! Im like a bloomin' 5 year old! haha!

Have a lovely day everyone.

oh, and ledkr be sure to let us know how you got on

Emski76 · 10/07/2011 08:00

Morning!
Suzy, we too live in a new build, and are constantly visiting the show homes around us, the sales lady knows us really well now! I love looking at the decor.
Noah is getting harder to put down for a nap and rarely sleeps more than 45 minutes. We always try to get him a late afternoon nap but yesterday he slept in the car on the way home til 4.30pm so fell asleep on his bottle at 7pm. He then woke at 8.30ish so I fed him the rest and he took a while to resettle. He always starts stirring from 4.30am onward and ends up in with me. Am hoping this will stop soon, as although I love the cuddles it's becoming a bit of a habit!
Hope Ledkr enjoyed her night out and isn't nursing z hangover this morning!

Tarlia · 10/07/2011 08:01

Good morning! We had a 6am baby, still, better than yesterday's 5am! The threads sleep curse has hit us, or teething as he has big rosey cheeks along with the drool and nappies.

Suzy have you tried ignoring resettling H, when he wakes after 45? Z wakes after 40mins, but if happy I leave him, if not I shhh and pat him a little, then more oftenthan not he will go back for another 40min.

Hope you all have beautiful weather!

WeAreBorg · 10/07/2011 08:21

Emski I still have a hole in my tummy muscles which the aerobics instructor kindly shoved her finger in the other day!

Suzy very excited about your day. DH and I have been known to wander round showhomes for fun. We very nearly bought on great park and were going to part-ex but their offer was about 20 grand less than what we thought we could get and the surveyor valued the new house at about 20 grand less than what they were selling it for (after a discount and not including cost of kitchen etc.) so we pulled out. Just to let you know that about new builds. They are lovely though, and we're a bit sick of this house, can't even put up a curtain rail without half the wall falling down!

Fully expecting ledkr to be too ill to post today.
Speaking of MN meet ups, can anyone fill me in on some MN knowledge. I sometimes look at the DOTDs but often have no idea what's going on. Everyone seems to know each other and talk in a special language? Nobdie? Pombear? Loads of other things can't think of at the moment.

We're still 530 wake-ups despite the new late nap, he does sing away in his cot for about 30mins so can at least stay in bed for a bit.

Technically not news but N not pooed for about 3 days. I know this is not very exciting but he was a 5 a day man up until a few weeks ago so am a bit concerned. When he left it 2 days it was up the front, up the back, down his legs and pooled in his bumbo so worried about the scale of this one!

wigglesrock · 10/07/2011 08:41

emski I bring A in with me when she starts to stir - anything for an extra 30 mins Grin

WeAreBorg think it was you who recommended the Killing, watched it last night, really enjoyed it, thanks, although remember reading a couple of bits and pieces about the original one and I have a sneaky feeling I might remember the end!!!

Mr W had a very busy night at work last night, he eventually got home at 6am so having a vvv quiet day today, going to see his parents and not much else!!

Ledkr and jane hope you both enjoyed yourselves and your heads aren't too sore Grin

grannyapple good luck with the run.

40Weeks · 10/07/2011 08:59

Morning all

Enjoy your quiet day wiggles

emski hope you're holding up ok after the funeral, thinking of you.

suzym enjoy the showhome! Have been known to snoop round with NO intention of buying, just love looking at them. And good luck for tomorrow

tarlia you have to tell us more about this hellish MIL, don't hold back now!

How was Alices eve/night reastie ?

And of course ledkr we want to know all about your mn meet up, how man of you were there or was it just one?

Grannyapple good luck with 10k run, good on you

Well the curse of the pox still lingers, Owen and Mikey both have it. Poor Owen is covered and was very low with it yesterday but has perked up with meds. Mikey has about 6 spots but is very 'screamy' you know that screechy cry they do? Poor bubba had a terrible night. Am dreading another week of confinement esp as mil is away and is usually by back up 'let's go play at nanny's"

suzym1984 · 10/07/2011 09:21

tarlia thanks, I do sometimes leave him and I think I need to start doing that more! Will try it today! Annoying when he is crying tho as I can never decide if its worth the hassle to keep going in and reassuring etc, or to just get him up!

borg i do worrry about new builds being overpriced, but I honestly dont think we would get a good price for our house on the open market. Also, nothing is really selling at the moment and I want to be settled by Christmas

Will keep you all informed!

40 poor you with the pock-cursed house! I hope they clear up soon!

hubbard86 · 10/07/2011 10:18

freya was a pain to get to sleep she finally went down at 9pm, woke at 7 went back down till just now where i have been given big gummy smile. Am now gonna make my own birthday cake. Am attempting a rose cake, so it will probably go disasterously wrong but oh well

ledkr · 10/07/2011 10:26

Morning! No hangover here Grin i dont normally do it agin for afew months after a bad one.I had 6 vodkas. There were 10 of us and it was really good, its so weird seeing people in real life,we had labels with rl and mn names on.the funniest bit waswalking into the pub approaching alarge group of womwn and going "ahem is this the um...?" they went yes thats us!could have been an aa meeting. I met a nice lady who used to live where i did in Tooting in London but didnt know anyone else,it was a mixed bag really the rough ones smokers and hard drinkers ended up outside all night.I was home by 1.The house was a tip,a box of pizza was on the table and dh was in bed FULLY CLOTHED. i told him i thought id stumbled onto the set of men behaving badly so he got up early and cleared up before work, apparently he was too tired to undress, weirdo.

On the Davina post natal dvd there is an exercise for split abdo muscles, you hold them together when you do any type of ab exercise,if you dont it will get worse with sit ups.

suzyDilly had no late nap and woke at 5.30,will be pushing for that now.Not sure about new builds, they look gorgeous but ive heard they are a bit paper thin,no good with my big gob Grin

borg I think the special language is re stuff that went on before our time, last night some were talking about big London ceremonys with free champers and awards and competitions and stuff,i realised i know nothing and am not one of the special mnetters. Back soon,i hear wailing
