Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
reastie · 07/07/2011 20:53

wiggles i actually giggled out loud to the whatcha wearing ledkr comment Grin

deb alice gets mucasy poo quite alot - i thought it was normal Shock Blush Hmm

ledkr hv is shocking [tries not to sound like bragging] mine did a home visit today (her idea not mine) due to my 'issues'. i thnk that is awful. has she spoken to you on phone or chatted at weigh ins or anything?

wigglesrock · 07/07/2011 20:54

ledkr re HV - disgrace, but don't start me, I haven't seen one since 8 weeks, she was leaving and was waiting on new one starting. A was supposed to have a 14-16 week check, I rang before we went on holiday and left a message, no call back. I rang twice since we came back, one rang me last week, to say I hadn't been forgotten about Hmm I beg to differ, promised to get sorted out this week, nothing yet.

Usually it wouldn't bother me and Anna is grand, but last time we saw one they had mentioned that Annas' weight had dropped and just left it like that. I also just got a date for Annas' hip check for Mon week, again I had to chase them down, HV was supposed to double check it for me.

reastie · 07/07/2011 20:57

when i say i think that is awful led I mean your hv not mine Wink

debka · 07/07/2011 21:01

I think they think if you've had one baby already you know what to do with the others. I got 2 visits from my HV and she said I should have got a student community nurse instead but she was in the area and liked my cake.

ledkr shocking I agree but perhaps she was scared of you

Don't tell me that about mucous ladies, I was feeling better about The Cough!

wigglesrock · 07/07/2011 21:05

debka If I lived near you, I'd be in every day for your cake - I'm sounding a bit stalkery tonight Hmm

reastie · 07/07/2011 21:05

yes deb i think thats true - we were told we got lots of contact with the first lo and gradually less with each further baby what with ledkr having all those children that must be it

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 07:13

ledkr how was the waking up this morning? Anna went to 6.30am which I'm really pleased about.

tadjennyp just coming on quickly to wish A all the best for her tonsilic getting her tonsils out today Grin. I'm sure she'll be fine and you'll be the nervous wreck. Hope all goes well.

reastie · 08/07/2011 07:32

tad Is it today? oh, good luck. I think wiggles has some kind of photographic memory Wink

well, happy to report last night not too bad with alice - she screamed the house down twice in the evening but I just picked her up, offered her food and then put her back in cot when she was drowsy. Might have just been luck but I feel Grin about it. She's still asleep now since 9:45 last night Shock - why oh why can't I sleep well when she does?!

I'm also Grin as I've found a lady to decorate alices christening cake who looks fab - she's been in vogue for her cake decorating and used to work for a famous new york cake shop which has been on satc Grin [relief] [excitement] . AND her icing my cheap waitrose cake is cheaper than buying the same cake from waitrose but decorated in a christening style Shock Hmm

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 07:42

reastie ssshh don't tell anyone, glad Alice slept better, when is Alices christening?, just so I can file it away in my amazing memory Grin

reastie · 08/07/2011 07:59

wiggles it's 21st august Grin . I've got a dress for me and her, just need to buy the accessories now Wink . Btw Alice atill asleep - why can't she do this every night Hmm

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 08:19

She's got to keep you on your toes Grin That was the date of Sofias christening Grin Are you having a big one [phnar phnar] ?

Deliaskis · 08/07/2011 08:20

Ledkr you can share my slightly over-enthusiastic HV if you like. She insisted on 'squeezing in' a quick 'emergency' visit yesterday for something that didn't need a visit and certainly wasn't an emergency. I was kind of 'no but really it isn't necessary' on the phone but she insisted so arrived looking very much in a rush and harassed.

reastie glad you had a better night.

D

ILovePonyo · 08/07/2011 08:27

Morning all, have been lurking and reading just havn't seemed to have had time to post!

dd was awake earlier than normal this morning and I do think its b'cos she didn't have a nap yest evening - friends came over and she was giggling away at their 3 yr old, v cute.

reastie you've got someone famous doing your cake! How exciting Grin Are you going to try the same thing every night now with A if she cries?

ledkr hope your meet is good, I am a bit of a fan of getorf too, though I imagine her looking like a farmers wife but I'm sure she doesn't Grin No hv visits is rubbish, me and my friend were saying that as long as you have husband/partner, you work and have (relatively) nice house they won't bother with you - stereotyping really. Bit of a clumsy point but hope you get what I mean.

tarlia was nice to hear from you, sorry things aren't great, but you are deffo not a failure and hope if you decide to go to docs then they are supportive. Let us know how you get on?

dd is squealing and getting louder and louder so HI everyone else Grin, btw dp and I had really nice night last night actually made a bit of an effort to talk to each other - reminded me I am not a grumpy nag all the time Wink

reastie · 08/07/2011 08:37

wiggles christening a v small affair with just immediate family and godparents (oh, and a friend of MIL who wanted to come Hmm ). We are having kneesup lunch at my parents house afterwards.

ponyo but I have a dh/job/and relatively nice house Confused . btw cake decorator not as famous as our very own celeb 40 Wink

d sounds like you have a very eager hv Grin

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 08:48

reastie sounds v like Annas christening but numbers kept creeping up Shock

ponyo that's nice about you and dp, my mum had Sofia & Olivia on Wed morning and Mr W and I had a bit of time together it was lovely.

Taking all the girls to the museum this morning, Olivia wants to check if the dinosaur is still there Hmm, Sofia fancies a wander around the gift shop Grin and Anna wants a nosy at the cafe.

ILovePonyo · 08/07/2011 08:49

Good point reastie - ignore me! (and delia too - sounds like your hv is very keen Grin)

MizK · 08/07/2011 10:21

tad good luck today.....

Nice to hear some of us having romantic time with DPs...... I had loads of cupcakes to make for a party last night and my DP acted as sous-chef - weighing out, making sugar syrup and washing up - all the while looking rather fetching in a pink polka dot apron! Made me remember why I love him (aww!)

wiggles have fun at the museum - does 'Anna' want a nice coffee and cake too, hmm?!

ponyo Christy and Joe demolished the cherries you brought round yesterday so thanks!

delia sounds like you have the only hv who actually gives a toss....perhaps too much though....!

janedoe25 · 08/07/2011 10:55

Morning girls!

tad good luck for today, hope A is ok x
mizk/ponyo whats this another meet up? I think it would be fab if we could all meet up. Shame we all live so far apart Sad

wiggles enjoy the museum and the coffee! Hope you hide your purse in the gift shop!

reastie glad you had a better night with A. The cake lady sounds fab!

deb hope Sabines cough gets better soon.

My DF is comming home tonight, lets hop i have not missed and ov and we can have some swi time!

Im going to visit my neice today for her birthday, unfortuantley that also means i will have to talk to my sister. Loads
of issues with her. Ah well its true what they say, you can pick your friends but not your family! I know i will be lectured about the wedding cos she isn't a bridesmaid and my neices are not flower girls..................

Deliaskis · 08/07/2011 12:47

Actually re HV, just had a chat with a fellow Mum friend whose 3rd baby is a couple of weeks younger than Claudia, and she has been ignored and ignored and ignored some more by the same HV, when she has actually needed them (baby totally unhappy feeding all the time, only having 9oz a day etc.) so she is both very keen and completely rubbish at the same time. I can only deduce it is for one of the following reasons:

  1. She likes Claudia
  2. She only pays attention to people with their first babies and assumes everyone else can cope
  3. She suspects I might be squatting in my nice house and inventing DH along with photoshopped pictures on walls etc.
  4. I am on her 'watch list' cos of PND
  5. She secretly fancies me.

What say you?

janedoe25 · 08/07/2011 13:06

"she secretly fancies me" Grin that must be it d, love it!

reastie · 08/07/2011 13:23

d agree with jane Wink

jane you do what you want with your wedding - dont feel guilty about bridesmaids etc

wiggles what did you do for your post chirstening food stuff? I'm really Confused as my mum had offered to pay for it all but has changed her mind. I don't mind her not paying of course but I'm just a bit frustrated at changing plans iykwim. If I had known I might have had to have thought twice about my new computer Shock . Mum says I should get wiatrose entertaining to do it for me but checked their prices and even though it's a small event just the cost of sandwiches will be £75 ( Shock ) and I refuse to spend that much on blinking sandwiches! I reckon the whole lunch for people would end up costing £200 + I'm feeling a bit Confused as I have to make and lovingly decorate 80 cupcakes for mums birthday party in a couple of weeks and add on top aices christening food I think it might be too much alongside entertaining her highness Hmm

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 13:36

reastie the christening was my mum and dads christening present to us, if that makes sense. My mum cooked 2 big hams, a turkey, a silverside of beef - all served cold, cold prawn rice, salad, coleslaw, bread. My aunt paid for the cake which I think was really expensive.

jane don't feel guilty re bridesmaids, flowergirls etc, learn from my christening debacle with bil, say no loudly and often Grin

deliaskis Grin Grin re Health visitor, I sometimes think that the parents and staff at Sofias' school think I've made Mr W up, because he's not about that much and I keep bumping into them at the park, Tescos etc when its just me and the girls at weekends. I think that me being pregnant with Anna confused them Grin

Museum was fab, its free and they give the kids a pop up map with stickers to mark what they've see. Unfortunately because its free I have been known to overcompensate at the gift shop but was quite restrained today, just some brightly coloured dinosaur figures, pencils and a sharpener and that was for me Grin

reastie · 08/07/2011 13:57

wiggles nom nom nom Grin . I've got the cake under control just everything else. Don't suppose your parents want to make my christening food as a present to me do they Wink . Pop up map AND stickers? I woud have loved that when I was tiddly Grin

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 14:04

reastie Its funny, my mum loves entertaining, yes that is how she phrases it ,Blush, she's very 1970s. She and I actually had a few passive agressive words re the food, I wanted exactly what she ended up doing but she really wanted to do a few hot dishes.

I know, the map is fab, of course we have about 100 in our house Grin

WeAreBorg · 08/07/2011 15:14

Grin at wiggles stalking debka and heavy breathing at ledkr.

My HV is okay, she's extremely glamorous and insisted on visiting once to neb round my house and has not been seen since. I am a fan of getting N weighed for some strange reason, took him today and he left a rather noxious fart lingering in the HVs room hee hee.

Nate has started swinging his pants in some ernest (don't know if any of yous are old enough to remember Trev and Simon), it's quite amusing, I'm trying to train him to do it on command now.

ledkr was it you looking for something post-Wire to watch? The Killing was on last night, it's meant to be good, although not as good as the Danish one.

Reastie I guess the problem with you being a domestic goddess means you end up baking everyone's cakes. I have no such problem! Off to eat Nutella direct from the jar, mmmm......
