Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
janedoe25 · 08/07/2011 22:10

reastie there is no such thing as a Gruffalo! Yes it is the childrens book, i love it! Oohh im off now DF has just pulled up outside. Speak soon Smile

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 22:11

reastie Traits of Mrs Bouquet Bucket would exist in my mother also Grin

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 22:12

reastie you don't know the Gruffalo with his knobbly knees and wart on his nose Grin

jane have fun Wink

reastie · 08/07/2011 22:14

these gruffalo references are going straight over my head, sorry Blush . Off to bed now and already getting uptight about il visit tomorrow Confused mainly as feel a bit like I'm second best to dh Hmm

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 22:21

Never worry reastie you'll know it backwards soon enough, there was a good animated version on over Christmas.

Hope in-laws visit goes ok tomorrow, can you not take yourself off for a bit. Take the opportunity to have an hour to yourself, know you're not keen on mil having Alice but maybe you could use it to your advantage

Tarlia · 08/07/2011 22:28

Oh I love the Grufflo, well all Juilia Donaldson books really, but especially Monkey Puzzle.

Tarlia · 08/07/2011 22:32

Whoops premature postage there!

Have fun, Jane. now isn't a good time to start shaking pompoms whilst you dtd, is it Grin :P

restie poor you :( . Perhaps you could do as wiggles suggested and take the hour for a walk, or bake a VIP cake in the kitchen?

ledkr · 08/07/2011 22:34

A gruffalo? Why dont you know?blah blah Els fav book.i love the selfish giant by Oscar Wilde i have inflicted read it to them all.they were like Hmm
The mmr was under scrutiny a few yrs ago re the connection with autism,i looked into the separate vaccines for Els but they were unlicenced on their own so i didnt, but i think it has since been proved safe, all mine have had it.
Jane (not that she will be reading as df home) I usually do the Isle of Wight festival but didnt this year and feel torn between hard done by and secretly glad i have the excuse not to crap in any portaloos. Grin
Im a bit scared that everyone is taking my advice re sleep.Dilly did it all according to plan today, late nap, earlier bed,not so zonked at bedtime,in fact she went down awake but started to cry,i left her a bit then went up,she was on her tummy with her big bald head in the air looking around for help.Does anyone elses baby turn onto tummy in the night and get cross.
Def going in her room tmw,dh aint happy but he can sleep with her if he wants like mr reastie does.

ledkr · 08/07/2011 22:39

reastie I always go out for a bit when knobhead pil come,it helps loads.
Come on here and have a rant if you like it wont be as bad as you think, for all you morbid pil voyeurs mine are down in 2 weekends and bloody dh is off to work on the sunday am,he has told them to leave in the morn but they wont so i am actually going to have to leave my own home to hurry them along Shock

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 22:47

ledkr Grin Grin at you reading Oscar Wilde to the dcs. Anna doesn't like going onto her tummy in her cot, funny because Sofia loved it. That "help me, help me I'm stuck" look always makes me laugh. Anna and I were sitting on the bed today looking in the mirror and she kept laughing at the mirror, then turning to me and stroking my face it was so funny, she was absolutely delighted with herself!!

Tarlia I love Julia Donaldsons books too, I like most of the childrens books, apart from the reading ones from school.

tadjennyp · 08/07/2011 23:00

Hello! Thanks for all the messages. Been back from the hospital for an hour now and Anna is eating a helping of scrambled egg and has had 6 ice lollies! She's doing so well that they don't want to keep her overnight. She was really brave, bless her, and they wheel kids into theatre in a red wagon (americanexpat will know what I mean!).

We're big Julia Donaldson fans here too. Hasn't she just been made the Children's Laureate? The Snail and the Whale is my fave.

They have shots here at 2, 4 and 6 months and the MMR is at 13 months. It's definitely different to home. No such thing as a health visitor, either. Lol at all those whose HVs have crushes on them!

S is still in with us as we don't know where to put him next either. I don't think E is ready to share his room with him and A has offered but will start school in September. I think we'll get through that month, give E some bunkbeds for his birthday (not for S to sleep in, just in advance iyswim) and try it then! Confused

Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday night and IL visits are short and sweet.

wigglesrock · 08/07/2011 23:03

tadjennyp Great - glad all went well. Ah ice -lollies they cure all ills in this house, including sore tummies Grin

tadjennyp · 08/07/2011 23:27

Thanks wiggles - she's been back about 2 hours and has asked if she can go back to school! Either I'm piss-boring or my dd is rock hard! Grin

40Weeks · 09/07/2011 06:37

Morning all!

wiggles [hgrin] at Patricia Hodge, my mum always suffixes a sentence with "as they say" in same fashion

tadjen glad op went well [hsmile] at wanting to go back to school! Probably
can't wait to tell her mates all about it

ledkr M gets himself in a state when he rolls o to his front too. Wallys.

A 4.48 start here, ds2 needed a wee but I convinced him to go back to bed but only til 6am.

Also love Julia D - my boys love Stick Man

Good luck today reastie hope it goes ok - I bet dh chose parents out of obligation NOT because it was actually his preference. He is probably kicking himself but can't face canceling his parents and telling them why!! "hi mum, no you can't visit, that's our only window for nooky, see you soon byeee"
We have a birthday party and then heading to Chelsfield Fair

Deliaskis · 09/07/2011 08:12

In answer to Ledkr s poll, Claudia has been in her own room for yonks, since about 6 weeks I think (bad mummy icon). We were all keeping each other awake and TBH we've not looked back.

C has been waking at 6 all week needing dummy then going back to sleep for another hour. Difficult for me to get back to sleep then though. Today she woke at 6.30 but wouldn't go back. Am trying to decide if that's better or worse? Better as it was either a later first wake, or she woke even earlier and settled herself, but worse as it means 6.30 was actual getting up time. So folks, is my glass half full or half empty?

I might ask my HV for an emergency visit to discuss...

ledkr · 09/07/2011 08:15

Reastie far be it for me to say it but i do find it helps to keep reminding myself that pils are dh's parents and tho its hard to believe he loves them like i love mine, this will really help you to accept things and also do take some time out when they are there,i find it gives me a sense of still being in control and not them. Anyway girl, think yourself lucky at least you dont have them staying and having their rancid flannels hung on your bath or watch greedy fil squash 3 different cereals into his breakfast bowl whilst eyeing the pike of toast with a worried expression, and you certainly wont have to...ugh,catch him in the shower good luck.

40 they seem compelled to roll over dont they?It will be better when they can roll back.
I can conclude that the sleeping thing is a definate.Dilly slept untill 7=bliss,and this was after a late nap and early bedtimre. Its a bit more work to get her to sleep but she satyed down from 8 and the amazing thing is she hardly moved all night, slept really soundly altho once she did roll off the sensor and the alarm went off causing much panic but she even slept thru that! I nevr thought id ever agree with Gina Ford tho. I am looking forward to seeing how others got on last night, the v=basic principle is them not being absolutely kanckered at bedtime which id never have worked out for myself.

ledkr · 09/07/2011 08:17

Delias-i think its better to sleep right thru till get up time tbh, early mornings are a pitfall of parenthood but aftter weeks of 5am wakes im happy with anything later Smile

wigglesrock · 09/07/2011 08:43

ledkr we had a later bedtime, bloody sister, and an earlier start this morning, also a bit grumpy this morning Hmm My pil is 70 next week, and him and mil are going away for a few days so no-one feels they need to do anything big - this is why I love my pils Wink.

Deliaskis · 09/07/2011 09:22

Ledkr I do feel a bit cr@p moaning about 6 and 6.30 when I know a few of you ladies have had much earlier for weeks Blush! Sorry. I think you're right though, going right through to 6.30 is probably better than waking and dropping off again. Just have to hope that at some point 6.30 will become 7, and maybe one day, one day, when she's about 6, she will have an actual lie-in on a Saturday!

C was absolutely shattered at bedtime last night as Friday is swimming day, and even though she had a quick nap in the car after that, it still really makes her knackered.

I know what you mean about GF, in that before I had C, I read, and thought hmmm, pinch and salt and see what happens, but since I've had her, it seems for me and C at least, almost every time there has been a 'problem' or something I couldn't figure out, or something I wanted to change, the CLB book has had the answer. So I guess it just works for us, and of course won't for everybody. If she really is full of bullsh!t as people like to claim, then it's very good bullsh!t.

ledkr · 09/07/2011 09:44

wiggles im convinced its relevant. You are lucky with pils. I wonder if ill ever like mine,i doubt it,Even without the annoyances they are odd. Did i ever tell you that they ara huge family and have never had a divorce, death,mc,affair, rebellion or any of lifes challenges,it sounds idylic but i think it bloody weird myself and explains why we didnt see them when Dilly was ill-the old hands over ears lalalalala nothing bad will happen.
delias Tis true if Dilly always slept until 7 id be hankering after an 8am wake up,tbh mine all slept quite late as they got older, when the ds's were younger they used to get up themselves at weekends and id get up about 9 to frosties everywhere and bickering.
G ford i used to call Hien Ford, but she does make sense with the sleep but Jo Frost and the baby whisperer say the same thing,i would never let my babies cry tho,its too sad,i left Dilly for a few moments yesterday as she wouldnt nap, when i went back she was red, sweaty and devastated Sad

Grannyapple · 09/07/2011 09:45

Well hello ladies...been back up to Glasgow for a week & have spent the last 2 weeks catching up on chores, washing etc! Hence no time for mb & I see we're nearly a whole thread gone again! Anyone kind enough to summarise? Have I missed anything major?! ledkr & wiggles hope u all had a fab time away?

Nate was not happy to be in Scotland at all...& didn't sleep thru once up there...but as soon as he was home again he fell straight back into it...was even lucky enough to have lie ins tilb8am a couple of times! No such luck today tho...6.30am it was, hmm. Hubby seems pleased that Nate wasn't amused at being up north as he now feels he has the perfect excuse not to go back up for at least a year Grin.

Got my 10k run tomorrow for nct....looking forward to not running for a while after it me thinks!

Grannyapple · 09/07/2011 09:47

Oh meant to say...have been recommending the shred to everyone...my sis & nct friends are all embracing it at the mo...the weight will come off yet!!

wigglesrock · 09/07/2011 11:24

grannyapple lots of babies being unco-operative re early morning starts - are trying different things, with ledkr doing a test run and then us trying it out. So far short afternoon nap, and trying to do bedtime without them being too tired and a bit of late afternoon sun is helping.

Holidays seem so long ago and those without holidays are finding it a little Sad. Pils are also being wankerish difficult, main culprits : reasties, ledkrs and tarlias Grin. Some babies trying little bits and pieces of food.

I'm sure loads more has happened especially if you look at the amount I've been on Shock Oh and 40Weeks is a media superstar Grin

Good luck with the run.

reastie · 09/07/2011 11:56

granny people will start thinking you're on commission re: shred Wink

d not wishing to spoil the dream but I think until I was in double digits I got up at 5/6am every morning Shock . But, if it makes you feel better I remember every week end getting up on my own and playing downstairs making dens/hospitals/lots of messy crafty activities until whenever my parents decided to get up Grin - they must have dreaded what mess awaited them Wink.

PIL been and just gone and Shock don't have much moans to say about them aside from all the lipstick that is still on alice that I need to wash off when she wakes up Hmm . still feel stressed by visit though but possibly because i think this time i was a bit of a sarky dil Confused . note to self - must do better next time.

janedoe25 · 09/07/2011 12:14

Glad you survived the visit reastie I hope everything is ok with DH today.

granny good luck with the 10k tomorrow! You need to get Nate onside, buy him a kilt!

Thanks for waving the pom poms! Hope it works! Im off for the day, spending the day in the west end with friends and DF, bring on the cocktails! Grin
