Hazellnut · 18/11/2005 22:52

roosmum · 18/11/2005 22:53

aye, me too.
tho i really really hope not, obviously!

roosmum · 18/11/2005 22:54

xxx

fruitful · 19/11/2005 13:52

So, anyone get any sleep then? Ds slept through, I think he might be really getting the hang of this. Dd, who is 3.5 and ought to know better, woke us up screaming and wailing 7 times. "I need my nose blowed!" "I've lost my duvet!" "I need a drink!". Aagh. I always thought "sleeping through" was the Holy Grail, and once they'd done it, that was it.

Futurity and I met in January I think. I sold a book on Mumsnet and we found out we lived close to each other. So Futurity - have you read that book? In all your huge amounts of spare time?

Ds has a 1-syllable name so we lengthen it. Also it rhymes with Puke and dd's name rhymes with Smelly. Fantastic.

starlover · 19/11/2005 21:16

ooh fruitful i like your ds's name! if it's what i think it is lol
was on my list of boys names but then someone i know called their little boy it!

Linus woke up in the middle of the night again and took 2 hours to settle him back down.
tonight he has gone down without a fuss though and seems a bit happier in himself... so fingers crossed!!

Well, its not Duke, Nuke, or Suke... One of my friends from my ante-natal class with dd used it for her son (so he is the same age as my dd). At the time I thought it was a good job I'd had a girl but I still liked the name when I got pg again. So we call them Big uke and Little uke now!

Lets hope they all sleep tonight. Its horrid when they're ill isn't it. I'm torn between being fed up with them for being awake, and sorry for them cos they feel ill. And the amounts of snot! Its unreal. Ds sits there licking it off his lip. yeeuch.

starlover · 19/11/2005 21:25

ahhh the snot! Linus had wiped his over the end of the cot this morning! nice

Fruitful - Puke and Smelly are such nice names !!

helloooo - had a bit of a better night - dd only took an hour to settle and then woke up at 6 but came in with us and then, after a bit of ibruprofen went back to sleep till 9 and then I was still feeling tired and emotional so dh got up with her and I went back till 11 - bliss !! So felt human again today. We have realised she might be teething again so I think the cold is not the problem (which it shouldn't be after a week) and her top teeth are finally coming through. She has already woken up once this evening and dh has settled her (weekends are sooo much better with dh around !!).... I really hate having to keep giving her medicine but its not like her to be so grumpy ... she must be in pain

I said to dd today - where's daddy - and she turned round and waved at him and I swear said 'dadda' ..... dh doesn't believe me (and considering she says dadda to everything, I'm not sure I believe me either !!). He also doesn't believe me she stood by herself for a few seconds earlier today but SHE DID, SHE DID!! Well... maybe a few milliseconds...

pjsmum · 20/11/2005 07:32

We had climbing the stairs yesterday! Apart from the odd cough and splutter she slept til 6 this morning and is asleep again already! On the name front she gets called Polly doll, p* pant Polly or p** pant polly accordingly. We love her really!! Hazelnut I'm convinced she said mama as she grabbed my leg the other day! But then like you don't think there is anything in it she says it all the time. hope better sleep has been had.

fruitful · 20/11/2005 11:03

What is it with teeth? Why can't they just be born with them?

Hazellnut, just ignore all those Daddas. Then her first word can be Mamma .

Ds slept through again. I think he has cracked it .

"huge amounts of spare time"...ROFL lots! I did read the book before Sam came along and found it informative if I remember correctly (it was a while ago)..I think I will read it again soon as now that Sam is crawling the sibling relationship is changing rapidly!

Sam gets called Sammy Rooney...or just Rooney...or Sammy Dribble...all names he responds to so a bit worrying if he grows up thinking they are his names!

Hazellnut · 20/11/2005 19:23

up for the usual two hours last night - she kept lulliung us into a false sense of security and we thought she drop off and then wah wah wah..... ah well....

Got your CAT Tipex thanks - I Like it !

Been out for lunch today wiht some of my antenatal chums - only 3 babies but was a bit chaotic !!

Know what you mean Tipex about the restaurants - we were quite lucky in that, we went to an italian near us and it was pretty empty so we could take over a bit. However, they only had 2 highchairs, both being used when we got there but we soon scared everyone else off !!!

Mind you, dd wanted to wriggle around and stand but was in tights and had yet another topple (and the friends we were out with, who are very good friends, are a bit 'take your child to casualty immediately' types but if I did it every time dd fell over I'd need a season ticket ). Considering getting her some 'crawlers' to give her a bit of grip now its cold and isn't bare foot but want to resist shoes until she's properly walking - oh decisions decisions (suspect feet may be too little anyway !!)

And deffo know what you mean about staying up to relax and then regretting it ! Each night this week I've promised myself I'll be in bed by 10 and then 11 rolls by... tonights the night though !!

will have a look at those - dd is terrible at taking her socks off - even tries it with tights and then gets annoyed !! Maybe in a couple of weeks might take her to clarks and see what they say (although know we have a resident clarks expert in our midst.....)

roosmum · 20/11/2005 21:02

tipex...hate to tell you but roo slept better than we can remember in a long time last night

previous night he woke 6 times tho, wonder how he fits it all into one night!!

HN, roo now has little leather shoes for when we're out, to try & keep feet warm, got ours from monsoon where they have cute shoes similar to daisy roots. maybe a little cheaper? i think they also give roo more grip when cruising?? inch blue also have cute shoes.
def agree abt gap in market for crawling baby friendly eating places, think roo gets v. bored if we're out for any length of time.

tipex, can we have a clue as to ds's name?? tell me to get lost if too nosy tho

starlover · 20/11/2005 21:30

VOILA! well... Linus hasn't had any clarks shoes yet! He lives in soft "padders" from Tesco or his leather Inch Blue shoes with paw prints on!
TBH the leather ones are about the same price as the crawling/cruising shoes from clarks.... the only reason I got them was because I had £25 in vouchers for tinkertogs from the MN competition so spent some of the money on the shoes because there weren't really any clothes i liked! lol

they have been really good though... they are one of the fe things Linus can't get off very easily. And they are very soft. Think the leather is softer than on the pair of daisy roots i have which i bought from someone on here for cheapo! lol

sooo yes, my advice is leave them out of shoes full stop for as long as poss. We only put things on his feet when we go out to keep his socks on, or if he is going to crawling/cruising around at toddler group etc

wow, i've been off for two days and look what happens!!
i love all the names for babes unborn and play names
we didn't even know what leon would be until after he was born, had loads of ideas for girls names but none for boys!
his other names are pickle and the exorcist (for when he makes strange guttural noises!)

and for the sleeping and non sleeping, leon has finally stopped waking up at 12 and 5 am, but is waking at 8.30pm instead and wanting to PLAY PLAY PLAY

have to tell you all about the vintage fisher price campervan plus people i bought leon on ebay, he just loves loves loves it, not to be seen without a dog/man/woman in his hand; we grew up with them and i couldn't resist, i have a feeling my sister and i are gonna get a bit obsessed......

cannot wait to go to clarks but agree with starlover, the longer wait the better, also cannot believe how much i hated my mum when that was the only shoe shop she would take me to when i was young (oh, how i wanted some pointy shoes....) and here i am desperate to go

well, lying here with first period pains for over a year at 2am, thanks to the world for the internet

see you soon and i hope people have all had good sleeps in the morning!!

Hazellnut · 21/11/2005 10:24

ooh the fisher price thing sounds cool goss - is it the one with the boat on the roof ? I remember that !!

Right will look at all the soft leathery shoes I think ...... as well as practicality (keeping feet warm and giving her some grip now she can't go bare foot when out and about) I think I am just sooo impatient to get her first shoes. But, I agree best left as long as possible.... (sulk )

Well.. we did go to bed early last night at 9.30 - don't think I even managed that when dd was first born. But then dh coughed with his man flu till gone 12 - grrrrr - dd woke up about 3 and I gave her some milk and then decided to try being tough with her and let her cry a bit .. but it worked - she was only awake half an hour in total ....

Hazellnut · 21/11/2005 11:07

right have ordered a pair from daisy roots - the free p&p swung it for me.... thanks girls !!

gossifer · 21/11/2005 11:19

hazelnut, well done you with the crying!!!

we're in a real quandry with that one

have tried cc twice (1st time not properly though) our problem is leon stands up, i mean how long is he gonna cry for is he stands up?????

he goes down at 7.30pm ish and then always wakes up at about 8.30-9pm awake as can be! wants to be up for a couple of hours then goes off to sleep after another bottle, we've tried giving him more milk before but he will not take it, help!

shoes sound lovely by the way! and free P&P does it every time for me!!!
