oh, you'll have a ball, there will be loads of other people there in the same boat as you don't forget! and you'll have a couple of mates you know!
[you can always leave whenever you want to!}

but i reckon you'll have such a good time you will not even think about it! so many people know you, it'll fun putting names to faces, if not a little confusing after a glass or two!

starlover · 21/11/2005 22:53

yeah i guess... i can't really afford it either though, that's the other thing! we're supposed to be saving every penny for house deposit.
have even put my name down for evenings at work in the run-up to christmas!!!

i could do without spending £50 on a night out tbh... argh, i can't decide if to go or not

but when did you last go out and let it all hang out?

Report
starlover · 21/11/2005 22:56

well... a few months ago!
i just know i am going to chicken out of it. or i will go and end up sitting there not talking to anyone!

gossifer · 21/11/2005 22:59

oh, do what you feel best with really, as long as you don't chicken out on our lunch, cannot wait to see what everyone look like, you know how you get a picture built up in your head of how someone will look?

gossifer · 21/11/2005 23:00

did you think about buying premium bonds with the money your saving? you don't lose any money and each month they're entered into a draw and you can win heaps?

Report
starlover · 21/11/2005 23:06

definitely won't chicken out on lunch! that's ok because there aren't 80 of you!!! and i already feel like i "know" you.
ther is no-one else going to the big meet that i really talk to that much on here...

haven't got any premium bonds, because although there is the chance of winning you don't get any interest... so while our interest is minimal at least it's guaranteed... well, that's dp's explanation anyway! lol

of course, if anyone wants to lend me 5k i'd be more than happy! lol

i don't know if you read my thread last week but leon was doing this, eating loads and then up at 12 and 5am every night, having a big feed each time, for a whole week!!! i was sooooo knackered, thought i was about to hit rock bottom, arguing with dp, just dreaming of a good sleep, but it lasted a week and now its over

i think it was either teething or a growth spurt, but don't know really

hope that helps a bit

what i tried to do when he waked was keep the room dark (he still sleeps in a cot but with us) and keep quiet but have him in bed and feed him until he went back to sleep, all very peaceful like, sometimes it worked!

babysitting: well, sometimes leon sleeps through from 7pm, but very rarely, normally up again at about 8.30pm for 1-2 hours, so, even though i know babysitters are paid and are meant to hypethecially(SP????) look after them i couldn't even think of leaving leon with someone who wasn't doing out of love (pathetic i know!!!) we leave him with my sis or her partner,(we're lucky they have a dd 2.5 years who we've cared for A LOT)

it's funny, we have lots of offers of babysitting but i'm only happy with a few because he does wake, i NEVER thought i'd be like this
we planned to have a babysitter once a week, a good family friend who is a PHD student, but i wouldn't be happy leaving him unless i knew he could get on and do some work, so we've not even gone there yet!

what about you?

hi tipex & goss,

like the image of a battered, wrecked roosmum stumbling through the day (sometimes true ) but last 3 nights roo's been everso good! pick him up for dreamfeed last thing - & then he's sleeping til 5ish, even 7 once! long may it continue, tho i can hardly believe that it will...
ah we'll see

agree re the babysitting thing, we've had offers, but just can't do it atm. maybe when roo's older & reliably down for the night at x time?? would love to go out for a meal with dh, but can't risk it atm. what abt babysitting swap with friends?? i have a couple of friends i've met since roo was born that i'd be happy to swap with, think they would too. one's even offered to have roo for a morning a week, whilst i take her dd for another (which i'd go for actually...maybe).
hope you're all ok anyway, sorry for the lack of sleep tipex, esp with you going to work...must be well tough...

Hello everyone
I've been trying to read through this thread at least to catch up as i don't want to post .me, me, me, right tara. Don't know if i'll cztch everyone though.
From what i read, (poor Tipex you again and your insomniac bundle of love ), a few babies are being quite alert at night. Well you can add Amelia to the list, she just loves babbling baba in the cutset voice at around, 5 a.m, that's after she's stirred a few times for the dummy and the been lifted in with me in desperation. I didn't want to start a night feed as i thought it was like taking a step back but, if i feed her in the dark at around 5.30, she eventaully drops off agin around 6 and then we have to get up at 6.30 for dd1 to get ready for School as she is trying to get into the Guinesss book of records for being the slowest girl in the world to put on a School uniform!!
I was getting a bit worried that all the babies are away crawling and stuff till i read that fruitful's ds was finally sitting. Amelia has no inlination yet to crawl, she leans over for things but as soon as she's teatering on the edge she stops DD1 was the same mind, not early in the physical stuff but found her voice very early (and hasn't shut-up since) . Just a funny little aside on her BTW, she was getting a bit rough with the baby yesterday and i pushed her off and she went "GASP, you just broke the law!" (It appears she was asking Daddy what the police arrset you for a few days ago and one offence dp mentioned was hitting! I am anti smacking and didn't have the heart to explain that even though i hadn't hit her, should i choose to it's not illegal. Definately too much info for a 4 year old but she does make me laugh!)
Amelia is just loving her food, dd1 made a cake tonight and put chocolate icing on , Belgian chocolate and she licked out the bowl so i dug in on my finger for Amelais, warm melted chocolate, i kid you not, i have teeth marks on one finger!

oh yes, def. tipex!

like when he's hungry, & climbing up my leg & whinging, & wants to be picked up (& if i don't pick him up, he'll lay flat on the floor face down & SOB), when i'm desperately trying to fix his meal!! happens fairly often at dinner, not so much at lunch...

have to breathe deeply at moments like that, esp when feeling low/shattered.

I have never left dd1 with anyone other than my mam but we had arranged to go out on a very posh do a few nights ago. DP even bought a dinner suit and my mam dropped out!
DD1's freinds mam ,who has probably seen Amelia alot more than anyone anyway with all the playdates offered. I said no immediately but then she said she'd bring her dd, dd1 could stay up and waatch a video,,,,,,,,so we did. I hadn't been out in well over a year. I spent half the night outside on the phone as there was no reception and we were home for 10.15!

hello everyone... and hello angeliz!

Have a feeling Linus has a bit of a poorly ear. Had a thread on it earlier about the doctor diagnosing him over the phone!!! but he has been chirpier this evening and gone to bed ok... so will see how he is in the morning.

sorry to hear about all the sleep probs! Linus also went through this phase... waking a couiple of times in the night, and wanting food constantly.. seems to have calmed down a bit now though!

hi angeliz, good to hear from you again and love your story about dd1, have let leon have a lick of choc a few times and surprise surprise! he loved it!!!!

tipex. i so know what you mean, last week we were both so knackered, week before myself and leon had had the poohs etc, then it was my birthday weekend and i stayed up late both nights at a cottage we go to; then last week he was up every night as i said and i just couldn't even think of doing anything each day, felt like i was gonna go bonkers;

actually i wanted to shout from the roof tops WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS???? even though (roosmum and many others) i know i've had it good

actually i love going to work (2 days) too, and leon loves his nursery, so we're all happy on that one!
