Oh I should also say, although we've cracked settling in the night - the day is another story!

We've resorted to putting him on his tummy For naps, but of course not in the pram Blush.

WanderingSheep · 25/05/2011 22:46

Hmm, it's still not letting me log in but it is letting me message Hmm Confused. WTF is wrong with my MN? I'm having to put my username and password in every time I post! Hmm

ledkr · 25/05/2011 23:18

wandering-contact them or ask on site stuff boards

debka · 26/05/2011 06:15

Well thanks Tarlia but NO-ONE ELSE you horrible lot, I don't know, have a shitty day and no-one makes any comment. I may flounce, not that anyone would notice. Angry

S was up at 5 today so I put her in the kitchen, she had a wail for 2 minutes then went back to sleep. Another wail at 6 and sleeping again. It's definitely worth leaving them to have a bit of a cry, S settles really well by herself now. I however have lost the ability to sleep after 5am, may have something to do with going to bed at 8.30pm though Grin.

Four4me · 26/05/2011 06:47

Sorry deb hope you have a better day. Must have missed your sad post (am admitting to skim reading whilst doing ten other things)!here's to a better day for you today.

Archie does sleep all night, but I do spend all day with him on the boob. They are all so different. Some days he is totally high maintenance but I can cope as he has a last feed at 7 30 and is still zzzzzing now. My boobs are going to pop!

Hope the trip goes well? I bet Imy enjoys the adventure.

The boys break up for halftime term today so it'll be busy here for a week.
Hope the weather is good. It is lovely having them about as Imogen is easier. She thinks they are great fun, but I'll I do is think about endless meals!!!!

ledkr hope Dilly is feeling better?

Must go chaos is about to begin! Arrrrrrrrrrrr

debka · 26/05/2011 06:58

Thanks 44me :) enjoy half term (if you can...!)

janedoe25 · 26/05/2011 07:20

Sorry deb i thought i mentioned itm god my brain is puggled! I hope today is a better one and you have a good trip away.

reastie · 26/05/2011 07:40

sorry deb - think I didn't day anything as you said you'd not be back till after the show (and I forgot what show you speak of and felt a bit Blush about forgetting) so thought I'd say something about hoping things were better when you were back on - so - did you have a better night/feel better about things today?

ledkr you can't tease about a story you were going to tell and then not deliver the goods - pray tell Wink

Alice still odd and screamy last night but (touch wood) seems OK today. Little does she know she's in for her injections later this morning Confused

choc my logic (and I think wiggles too) is I too deserve a good baby for all the sickness/terrible pg I had to put up with for months on end Grin

Ledkr we leave C to whimper a bit sometimes. In fact the first time it happened it was like you quite by accident, as I always turn the monitor down when or DH go up so the other person isn't 'listening in', and forgot to turn it back up, realised she was crying just when she was winding it down and falling asleep. Since then she has more or less self settled at night-time, less so for naps as sometimes she fights it a bit but nights are usually easy.

Deb sorry you had a crapola day and hope you're feeling better this morning.

reastie a friend has one of those bouncers and it looks fab! Her 8 month old just jumps up and down in it for ages and just grins and giggles away. It is quite noisy though, but the little girl is obviously having so much fun. It's on our list of things to get when C is a bit bigger. I assume they have to be sitting unsupported?

everyone else thanks for the reassurance yesterday, I was feeling a bit blue and do from time to time, as it sometimes feels like there isn't much to focus on. I will be booking a holiday soon methinks. It's weird because MIL has her Wednesday afternoons, which initially was to give me a much needed break (when I was kinda losing it), but I think now it actually makes me feel a bit sad because I miss C and don't have much else to do (wouldn't normally be sat at home on a Wed afternoon). I have to start going back to work for KIT days though soon so it won't be a problem for much longer.

I am off to investigate Sophie the Giraffe. After not being online much lately, I am clearly missing an important part of C's development!

Dx

ledkr · 26/05/2011 08:34

sorry deb i also missed your post, hope you feel better today.
D woke at 11 but i ignored her,she cried for few seconds wriggled for 10mins farted then back to sleep till 3 when she did the same again then woke at 7,how weird,im defo going to stick with this self settling thing. She has a little cold bless her,is asleep on me now but got to disturb her for school run.

reastie · 26/05/2011 08:51

Ladies has anyone suddenly got really bad period pain? I've been completely period free and no signs of pmt or anything ( Grin ) but all of a sudden about 15 mins ago I got terrible cramping pain. Just taken nurofen as it's of the all consuming type of cramp where you can't do anything much. Used to ocassionally get this when I got my period so it's not unusual in that respect (I'm so hoping the nurofen kicks in soon as hoping to collect the bouncer Grin ). Wonder if it's a sign my body is going back to normal - anyone know how soon bfing peopl get their periods back? Hmm .

ledkr poor dilly with a cold :( the saline nose spray really helped us.

Hi all, debka invited me to join this thread so I hope you all don't mind a newcomer Smile

I gave birth to Will on 22.2.11 (8lb 15.5oz). First baby so posting a lot on mumsnet for tips and advice!

ledkr · 26/05/2011 09:48

Hi snarfle and welcome.Love the name Will. You are only allowed on this thrread tho if you still have at least a stone of baby weight to lose and you must still be stressed at least once a day,oh yeah and no Sophie owners need apply Grin

WanderingSheep · 26/05/2011 09:51

Hi, welcome Snarfle! Our babies were born the same day Smile.

Sorry Deb. Sad I didn't read the thread at all before I posted. I only came on to check that I could. I think quite a few of us are sleep deprived ATM and miss posts/forget who said what. Hope you have a better day today and give your H a swift kick up the derrier from me! Smile

Led sometimes I have to leave DD2 to whinge for a bit as she often starts when I'm sorting something out for DD1 (getting her dressed or breakfast or helping her with something). If we're getting ready for school in the morning there's nothing I can do but let her whinge, otherwise we'd never get there! I want to say, "Lottie, it's not all about you!" Grin

Reastie which bouncer have you got? We've got a Rainforest jumperoo, which was DD1's. It's ace!

I'm knackered! Lottie didn't have a bottle until 5 but she kept fussing because she kept dropping her dummy. I wished she'd find her thumb, because she likes to hold her hand over her face so she knocks the dummy out and then can't find it! I think she needs to go into her cot, she's running out of space in her Moses basket and I think it might be that that's waking her up because she's hitting her arms on the side.

WanderingSheep · 26/05/2011 10:01

Doh, reastie just went back and saw your link for the bouncer thingy! Blush It looks great! My niece has got something similar but hers doesn't bounce - keeps her entertained for a while! Smile

ledkr · 26/05/2011 10:30

Wandering its hard isnt it?As D isnt sleeping the best at the mo the last thing iwant to do is change her sleeping place, when i let her fuss back to sleep last night id have been worried she was scared waking up in a strange place. Its funny cos i defo dont thrive on the newborn phase,i am feeling really excited at watching her crawl etc.
My ds3 is 21 today.bless him,we are having a surprise curry for him later which will be nice. xH has really p'd me off, soemone told me on face book he put "am looking after my favourite girl today" in ref to his other daughter who is 7 mos, what a prize prat how would Ella feel if she saw that,i have just text him a really Angry text.

Deliaskis · 26/05/2011 10:35

Oh and reastie I think C gets a bit bored on her mat sometimes too. She will have one really long play on it per day (record was 55 minutes mostly on her own!), but after that she will only go on for a few minutes then she's like 'nice try mummy, I already did all this stuff today'. Then it's back to the swing for a bit, or playing her new favourite game of me rubbing a bunched up muslin in her face (cruel mummy).

Wandering the fussing for the dummy thing reminded me of C's very cute thing yesterday. She was in her pram with dummy, at the 4.30 please-have-a-quick-snooze-so-you-make-it-through-to-bedtime march out, and she had lost her dummy, it was somewhere behind her right ear. I didn't give it back straight away as thought she was asleep, but then she started grabbing at it, touching the plastic, then just shoving her empty hand into her face. She was obviously trying to put it back in but is too little yet to actually link up find-grab-lift-position type of thing, and she was really kind of half asleep so not totally bothered by it. She can put it back in if it's just fallen out and is balanced on her chin, but this was clearly a bridge too far. I meant to give it her back straight away but confess I actually stopped to giggle at her cute efforts for a bit first!

Deliaskis · 26/05/2011 10:40

Oooh and wandering we have just moved C into her 'big cot' as she too was disturbing herself bashing the sides of the moses basket, and stretched out she fills it as she sleeps with her arms right above her head (not just by her ears, but like completely stretched up like she's reaching for something). Will post a pic if I can figure out how to get them from my phone to the computer (thicko).

Re the move to big cot, I don't think she even noticed. We had the basket inside the big cot from 4 weeks when we moved her from our room so I don't think it feels that different to her.

Ledkr C is only my first as you know, but I do sense that the newborn bit isn't my favourite bit. I too am looking forward to proper sitting up playing, crawling, and fooooooooood.

MizK · 26/05/2011 10:55

Welcome snarfle hope you are armed with a shred DVD, tales of horrid PILs and ready to generally moan and overshare....!
wandering I moved Cassia into her big cot ages ago as she was whacking her arms on sides of basket also.... she did have a couple of dodgy nights at first as I think she was freaked out by all the wriggle space she has in the cot! But after that she was fine.
ledkr thats so insensitive of your ex, glad you told him off. I hate to admit this but sometimes my current DP says similar things about Cassia and I feel bad for my DD1. I know she has her own dad who loves her but I just get a bit put out with him going all gooey on Cassia and not Christy - that is probably irrational but there it is!
debka sorry you had a bad day, are you feeling better today? What sort of shows do you go to? This may have been covered before so apologies....

I actually had a very nice day yesterday, went to baby group then after instead of running off cause I've done my duty I went to lunch with some of the others and had a really good time. I usually wriggle out of going so I am really glad I went, that will teach me for being anti social! Cassia had a marvellous time, think she likes pubs already (like mother like daughter). Only thing that annoys me is that everyone goes on about how big she is - yes she is 15 pounds but I think she is gorgeous and I do like a chunky baby! But cant help worrying when people make a big deal over her size :(

WanderingSheep · 26/05/2011 11:11

Delia that's what L does Grin Grin. It is so cute! L waggles her head and opens her mouth as if she's trying to suck an imaginary dummy too and it always looks like she's panicking saying, where has it gone?!

DD1 made a swift transition to her cot and if anything slept better as she didn't have us disturbing her so I'm not too worried about moving DD2 it's just... I'm not ready for her to go and if she wakes in the night I'll have to get up and walk to a whole different room rather than reaching into the Moses basket!!! Grin I don't know why I'm being a pussy about it - DD1 had been long moved by now! Blush

Ledkr I can't believe your xh! What a prat! Angry Glad you texted him an Angry message, hope he apologises (not that that would make it right!) hope your DS3 has a good birthday and you enjoy your curry! Yum!

WanderingSheep · 26/05/2011 11:28

Aw, MizK don't let people's comments make you worry. People don't think before speaking sometimes, although they probably just trying to compliment on how well she's doing. People often automatically think - chubby baby = healthy baby, feeding well etc (I know that this isn't always the case but you do seem to get comments with chubby babies like "wow, isn't he/she big - aren't they doing well?") 15 pounds doesn't sound that huge - I think DD2 is about 13 or so pounds. I got her weighed a few weeks ago an she was 12 pounds 5 so I imagine she's put on a bit since, so not much of a difference. They're all such different shapes and sizes. I went to a weaning talk on Tuesday and all the babies were a similar age, some were a lot bigger than Lottie and some a lot smaller.

I know a lady who used to childmind a little boy, who at 5 months weighed 25 pounds!

americanexpat · 26/05/2011 12:15

My Shred DVD arrived today. :( I am so horribly unfit, I had to take a few breaks (5 seconds my arse). My tummy was flopping around as much as my boobs. Shock I'd better look like Jillian after 30 days. Has anyone had the courage to watch levels 2 and 3?

MizK - try not to let the comments upset you. 15 lbs doesn't sound like much anyway, L was 13 lbs 14 at 13 weeks which was the 50th centile. I think it's just the obvious thing people comment on to make conversation.

ledkr · 26/05/2011 12:17

I think D must be about 13-14 popunds,i dont worry about all that stuff,i had 3 strapping ds's all skinny minnies now,i had ds 2 at 29 weeks and he was 5lb 1oz !!! massive. He has size 13 feet too.People always comment on babies,my personal favourite is oh she's got a birth mark. Oh yes i hadnt noticed that in 4 months Angry
MizK i have to say dh is fab with Els,he always gives her fuss at the same time as dilly but then Els father is a useless pile of pooh so he feels for her i think.Ex wont change, when it was ds3's 18th he was on holiday for his gf 21st yes her 21st Shock I believe in Karma tho,on mothers day gf put on fb that she hadnmt had acard or pressie off my ex for her first mothersday.i was in bed admiring my diamonds at the time Grin

ledkr · 26/05/2011 12:20

american i just did day 7 level one and had a peek at level 2.....there are simply no words!! I will not be moving on untill i am completely at ease with l 1. It does get easier tho honestly. When i sit in the cool down splits position my belly gets squished and looks like a big bulge sticking out at the front.I feel better for it tho and have cancelled my gym memebership now too.

Deliaskis · 26/05/2011 12:32

Oooh just had a proud mummy moment! MIL brought C back 15 mins ago and after having established that she woke at 10.15 and had her feed, and hadn't slept since, I had assumed she would be tired. No whinges though. I was taking 'stuff' upstairs and for want of somewhere to put C I just plonked her in her cot and my words were 'sorry you'll have to just stay there for a mo whilst I do x and y', meaning to go back and cuddle her until she was drowsy enough for bed, but in the meantime, she did a little happy snuffly noise and after about 1 minute put herself to sleep! Yay! She has usually been good at self-settling at night, but needs a bit of encouragement in the day, so this was a first.

Don't know what to do this pm, weather is grey and rainy here so pram walks will be a bit unspiring (although probably necessary at 4pm!).

Excited though as tomorrow we are going swimming for the first time! We have had two aborted attempts due to closed pool and friend's baby getting a cold, but tomorrow is definite as I have signed up for proper water babies lessons with a couple of girls I met at clinic. Apparently we will both be shattered afterwards so am glad it's in the afternoon and DH will be home soon after we are.
