btw D isnt really ill, just a runny nose and the grumps.

ledkr · 25/05/2011 21:17

Similar? grrrrrr yes it is a bit isnt it> apart from the price that is. What one do you have? I have the black with the pink trim, she loves the pram lies there watching the trees and stuff as i walk along, not so comfy in the buggy bit yet tho.

reastie · 25/05/2011 21:17

ledkr I'm a bit of a softie so find it hard to let alice cry at all ever (but remember she is a month younger). I do leave her winging and crying a bit though to see if she self settles. I think it's fine to do what you did, the thing I would struggle with is when they scream the house down in a manic pain type of way - I'd feel too bad to leave her like that.

choc Envy on your sleeping baby

didn't take much - I bought the bouncer - all it took was a positive word from the wigglemesiter . Will report back once it's collected (although I don't think alice is really suitable to use it for another few weeks)

jane what about apprentice on tv? Grin

wigglesrock · 25/05/2011 21:20

ledkr God no, you are not at all even in the slightest bit horrible, think I might have to do the same with Anna the banana tomorrow. I did this with Sofia and like chocoroos' R she was the best sleeper.

chocoroo Many thanks re the pram info - thank Christ for letting me know, was maybe going to make a bit of a tit of myself - heading down the fancy dan i-pad route Grin

ledkr · 25/05/2011 21:23

oh no id never leave her if she was really upset, ive been wanting one of those bouncers or the activity centre they sit in none near enough for me yet tho, they are great esp for Dilly to keep her upright after feeds for reflux.Might have a look now as dh is off so i can send him to get it Grin

janedoe25 · 25/05/2011 21:28

ledkr you are not horrible! Leaving her to cry for 5 mins is not going to do her any harm, by the way i would do the same.

I do have experience with young babies, i pretty much brought up my youngest DB (14 yrs) as my mum had PND and refused to have anything to do with him for the first 6 months. His care was left to me and my dad, we also had my 2yo DB to deal with too. Repeat this when my baby sister came along when i was 20. Anyway, i would have to leave my baby bro crying at bedtime whist i seen to my other DB. Didnt do him any harm and he learned to settle himself off to sleep.

reastie think im the only person on the planet to hate the apprentice.

reastie · 25/05/2011 21:29

sorry ledkr think I explained that wrong, I didn't mean you were being a meanie letting Dilly cry, I just meant I do that too but not when she's really upset Blush - must be the tiredness my brain isn't working.

Really excited about alices bouncing activity thing now (ledkr) it bounced AND it's an activity station Grin - she's getting bored with her play mat a bit i think as i stick her in it alot

jane thank God - I can't stand it, it's my weird can't watch real life people on tv thing. Besides they are all such tits, I'm scundered for them all .

janedoe25 · 25/05/2011 21:36

I'm watching embarrassing bodies Hmm why would you want to flash your crusty nipples or wonky willy on tv, my mind boggles!

chocoroo · 25/05/2011 21:40

wiggles Love the constant use of "scundered". Will aim to use it myself!

Ledkr I love my Oyster. I have black with Aqua trim. R is just starting to love the buggy bit - she's a nosy monkey so likes sitting up.

Jane We leave R if she's just grumbling. But not in the early morning - I need my sleep so it's dummy o clock.

reastie · 25/05/2011 21:49

jane I definately wouldn't want to flash my wonky willy on tv Grin Wink Shock Grin

Are people using pushchair attachment already? Hmm - we just use the car seat clipped in the travel system whatsit...maybe I should try the proper pushchair bit to it Hmm

chocoroo Many thanks Grin funny enough we put Anna up a bit more in her buggy in Ikea today and she absolutely loved it, was giggling away.

Okey dokey guys (look at me channelling the Apprentice) do us a wee favour if you have a minute Grin, have a think about what I might need to bring for Anna on holiday, esp re clothes, am not planning on bringing much but have a horrible feeling I'm forgetting something.

Ps Got fab muslin cloths in Ikea today, very cute and a bit of a change from the block colours I have.

chocoroo · 25/05/2011 21:56

wiggles Surely the only other thing you'll need on hols is good old Sophie the Giraffe?!

reastie · 25/05/2011 21:59

sun hat wiggles

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 25/05/2011 22:01

Oh I meant to say, none of you giraffe followers told me how much feckin' noise the squeaker makes Grin That is my number one toy rule - the noise level has to be at an acceptable level, 3 under 6s, an incontinent elderly dog and a constant fight to avoid the cigs means my annoying noise level is quite low Grin

americanexpat · 25/05/2011 22:21

ledkr - we let L cry in his cot but stay with him, hold his hand, anything to calm him except picking him up. When we started, he'd cry for a half hour or so before going to sleep, tonight it was about 5 seconds. If he's really upset, screaming the house down, we do pick-up-put-down. Personally, I'm OK with letting him cry but not on his own.

wiggles - Love the Ikea muslins too. :) We also got a cot from Ikea, a bit smaller than the usual ones so it fits in our bedroom. DH also impulsively bought a giant stuff rhino which is currently shoved into a cupboard as the cats were getting a bit too friendly with it. Hmm

Tarlia · 25/05/2011 22:23

So sorry you are feeling down, deb. big hug from me. Good luck at the hotel!

restie go for it! She will love it - I'd def get one if we had the space. Who was it who said that were putting off selling and moving - we are too, I dred it!

ledkr def don't feel guilty! Dilly does need to learn to self settle and it better for her in the long run as she is getting more and more alert - she is on a wedge for her reflux isn't she? Z was also fed to sleep, until we got a mobile at around 8 weeks with forest sounds, it really helped as he too woke when we moved or put him in the cot. At the beginning if he fell asleep feeding I'd wake him then put the mobile on, even at night. It distracted him, he learned it was ok to go to sleep alone, now we only use it at bedtime, after night feeds he self settles. Maybe once she is in her cot maybe with a mobile things will change?

choc I don't want to speak to you! Envy

Poor Noah and turtle Alice, I hole they are both feeling better tomorrow.

Does anyone have a first tooth yet? I require a photo, I think first teeth are so cute!!

wiggles Glad the girls like Sophie, sounds like Anna may have a fight on her hands to get it though Grin. thin trousers, shorts, couple of thin long sleeves and short sleeve tops, dresses, socks. Long sleeve vests for bed or pj. Swimsuit, hat, towel. Sleepbag/blanket. Nappies for first few days - nappy cream. Bottles etc. Couple of tiny rattles. I cant think of anything else. How do you make bottles abroad without kitchen/steriliser??

ledkr · 25/05/2011 22:27

haha serves you right wiggles you conformist Grin
How about a flask to take out water to heat or make bottles?Oh yes and i forgot my bottle brush when we went to the caravan of love and i spent all week washing bots with a toothbrush Hmm I could actually go on for ever, when i stayed in crete for a few months with the ds's aged 8 5 and 2 i actually took a kettle to make tea and cereal for their b'fast,i was on a buget haha psst you nearly had another story then but i promised id hold off as felt a bit of an attention seeker.
Shredded today btw anyone else care to share?
Dh is sulking as i told him offfor putting d to bed without her bag on,its always half a job with men isnt it?

wigglesrock · 25/05/2011 22:27

Tarlia I have always used the microwave steriliser bags and always book a hotel with a small kitchen ie microwave and fridge and bring a travel kettle.

chocoroo · 25/05/2011 22:28

To those of you who are Envy of my sleepy girl, can I point out that I had a 92 hour labour (with 2 minute long contractions every 5 minutes). I reckon I earned my sleepy baby!

ledkr · 25/05/2011 22:37

choco shuuushshh dont talk about it,D has slept all night from about 5 wks but this horrible lot got jealous and put a curse on me and now she;s not so good. Dh is really sulking,i also told him im not th only person in the house who can pull out a bath plug,he told me he's not in the board room and doesnt want to be personally attacked-prat.

wigglesrock · 25/05/2011 22:37

chocoroo I reckon you deserve several glasses of Wine Mr W is on duty with A tonight so I'm off to bed, see you tomorrow x

Four4me · 25/05/2011 22:39

ledkr I am a bit of a meanie and if Archie is tired he just gets dumped carefully placed in his cot and he usually cries for a minute or so. As long as I know he's not hungry, dirty or got wind I leave him.

There has been occasions where he has cried for longer and I've picked him up which made no difference so put him down and walked out. I find looking at the time helps as it can seem like they are crying for ages but actually only be five mins. If you are a meanie for letting her cry tonight then I'm a super meanie!

Once with ds2 I simply couldn't settle him and was at my wits end so put the Moses basket in the utility room next to the spinning washing machine and when out to the garden so I couldn't hear him. He soon was a brill self settler! Grin

Tarlia · 25/05/2011 22:40

Well, wiggles, you had already ordered it Grin. I did say the squeaking sometimes made Z jump.. Wink Still, they all love, Sophie, mummy can just get earplugs or an ipod.
Ahhh, ok, that makes sense.

92 hours, choc!?! Yuk! I'd still trade that for sleep though.

WanderingSheep · 25/05/2011 22:43

Hi just testing. Mn wouldn't let me log in for some reason! I thought I'd been banned without them telling me! Confused
