Oops me obsessed- meant to say jack lovely pics- I can't remember, are your girls identical?

debka · 14/06/2011 20:39

byron that's a bit crap, enjoy the chocolate and telly and MN.

suzy we do the same, except morning sleep can be a bit shorter and lunchtime longer. Suits us well. S was having about 5 naps a day and only managing 75-90 mins between them but all of a sudden she only has 3 and stays awake for 2 hours. I like her more now she's bigger.

wiggles Envy that's all I have to say to you Grin

choc if you get a good one that will actually listen to you, HVs are great, but more often than not they seem to just spew out the same old advice and go on to the next person. MN is more helpful I find!

reastie hope you get Alice down a bit quicker tonight, you deserve a good veg in front of the tv after your painting today! I'm feeling rather olympic as I made a victoria sponge, a coffee cake (which I have just decorated as a VW badge), some flapjacks and a roast dinner. Roast dinner slightly less successful as the crackling wasn't crackling so I stuck it under the grill, kitchen, then house filled with smoke, smoke alarm went off then stupid moronic burglar alarm went off and automatically called the fire brigade!! Was quietly hoping some firemen would turn up to put out my non existent fire, but DH called the alarm company and called them off. Darn. Grin

tadjennyp · 14/06/2011 21:16

That's some going debka - well done!
Hope you enjoyed the chocolate byron.
S is also having a long nap (finally!) in the pushchair, lying down. Older two are watching Chicken Run after walking half an hour home from preschool so time for me to have a cup of tea I think! Might try the dream feed again suzy as I need some sleep tonight.
Hope you're all having nice, relaxing evenings.

janedoe25 · 14/06/2011 21:17

ooohh you have been cooking up a storm debka! Im pants at baking but my savoury meals sometimes pass as edible! I do like to cook dinner from scratch if i can and i am getting a bit better. I made a yum pasta sauce for dinner tonight. I once made a boiled egg explode Blush

byron Hope you are enjoying your lindt at tv, im an xbox widow tonight Hmm

wigglesrock · 14/06/2011 21:21

Hope you all had a fab sleep, reaatie did A go down eventually?

Hope you all have a nice day x

WanderingSheep · 15/06/2011 07:40

Morning Jane Smile hope you have a good day too.

Reastie hope Alice wentdown ok last night. Hope you were able to get some sleep.

Well the baby porridge worked a treat! We had no grunting or groaning last night and she didn't even wake up for her dummy! She got up at ten to 7 so got a lie in!!!! (I never thought that I'd be thinking of 6.50 am as a lie in) Hmm
Right, must go and get DD1 up for school. I haven't even mad e her butties yet [disorganised].

americanexpat · 15/06/2011 09:33

Good morning!

jane - how many days until testing? I need to live vicariously through someone. Grin

chocoroo - the usual HV is lovely and gave me advice on his sleep last time I saw her, this one made it clear she had no time for me. Angry I'm surprised she wouldn't give you the weaning info - surely the "right" info is better if you decide to wean early against advice? The HV gave me the leaflets at L's 3 month appt and discussed the best way to do things if we decide to wean early.

L had a better night of sleep. I decided I need to leave him in his cot all night, even if he falls asleep while feeding. He actually slept nearly 4 hours without waking. Shock I had a dream he slept through the night, imagine my disappointment when he woke me at 3. Hmm

Is it OK for him to sleep on his tummy if he flips on his own? I left him to settle and a few minutes later he was on his tummy. He did it again later so he was on his tummy most of the night. I was so paranoid I kept waking to check that he was still breathing (yes, he's my PFB Grin).

Instead of grumbling about him waking at 7, I got up myself and have already had breakfast, have Shredded, got the dishwasher and washing machine running and showered. I'm going to be exhausted this afternoon. Grin

WanderingSheep · 15/06/2011 10:25

Wow American, sounds like you've had a productive morni g! Smile if he's flipping onto his tummy by himself, to go to sleep, then I imagine that there's not much you can do - he's finding his own comfortable way of sleeping and would probably flip back onto his tummy! I'm sure he'll be fine! Dd1 liked to sleep on her tummy once she could roll over, she was a bit older though (5 and a half months). I think they say that when they get old enough to start rolling, the SIDS risk decreases.

I still check that DD1 is still breathing and she's 4 Blush. !

E

WanderingSheep · 15/06/2011 10:30

Excuse typos, feeding baby and something weird is happening with my phone! It's annoying me!

reastie · 15/06/2011 11:21

hello all, well, sorry to report last night didn't go too well Confused . I've actually been crying this morning just through tiredness [lightweight] . Sure it'll get better, just nice to moan to those who understand Hmm . Think today is just going to be one of those days - just had explosive poo (well, not me, alice obv Grin Blush ) going all up the back and over the clothes and I'd put her in a brand new white dress we got as a gift from a friend Confused .

american well done you at getting so much done - are you coming down to earth yet with your productivity? I think hv told me as long as they rol over by themselves onto their tummy it's fine and there's not much you can do to stop them anyway Hmm . btw Angry to your hv - even if you wern't starting weaning until 6 months (which is what I'm hoping to hold out until - i will not bow to the threads peer pressure on weaning Wink ) you wouldn't wait until 6 months to find out what it was all about, you would want to learn about it in good time so you knew what you were doing.

Am awaiting the post in hope alices door bouncer arrives today - got one the same day deb put that cute piccie up of S on the table bouncing

wandering glad you admit to checking your 4 yo still breathes, makes me feel a little less pfb-esque.

WeAreBorg · 15/06/2011 11:29

yes i think if he is clever enough to flip himself over expat he should be okay on his tummy i would have thought. mine hates being on his tummy and just lies there making constipated sounds. i don't think he has any incentive to roll, he is a lazy bugger laid back.
wandering banana porridge is making me hungry. i don't think nate is ready yet, he hasn't got the hang of milk yet i suspect.
suzy!!! how exciting, whereabouts are you? maybe i have seen you about, i always wear the same clothes and smell of milk.
thanks for pushchair advice, i'll try it, i seem to end up carrying him whilst pushing the pram these days so it must be worth a go.

WeAreBorg · 15/06/2011 11:33

cross post, sorry reastie, hope you are feeling better. i have been a whinging on the sleep forums and feel better for it!

i'm waiting till at least 5 months for weaning on the advice of a paediatrician pal, might just give him tastes then until proper weaning at about 6 months

janedoe25 · 15/06/2011 11:40

reastie you whinge away if it makes you feel better.

american I am sure AF is due tomorrow but im not going to test until the weekend the earliest. I have a funny feeling though, got the yukky taste in my mouth and i have been so bloated and constipated with niggly boobs! Hopefuly it is not in my mind........... Hmm

Emski76 · 15/06/2011 12:02

Hi all
Reastie, sorry Alice didn't sleep so well last night. I think we have all woken in the morning and cried thru tiredness since our babes have arrived. I know I have. It's really hard when you don't know why their waking or not going down well.
Noah was wake LOADS last night. We put him on his side, next thing we know he's on his back flailing like a bloody beetle again and crying, he was also somehow pushing himself up the cot! I think this is classic practising new skills in his sleep! This morning he definitely seems more vocal and is moving around loads. I hope he doesn't feel the need to practice again tonight!
Am tempted to let him sleep on his front!

americanexpat · 15/06/2011 12:12

reastie - I was crying out of tiredness just yesterday, DH sent me back to bed and worked from home. L had been up every 2 hours during the night and awake for the day at 6.30. Everything seems more dire when you're tired. Can you have a nap while Alice naps?

I'm starting to crash from my productive morning. Grin Think I'll have a nap on the sofa though L will most likely wake as soon as I drift off. Hmm

reastie · 15/06/2011 12:48

thanks guys - day is getting better - alices door bouncer has arrived (although she's asleep so haven't tested it out) and got a letter saying DH and I now officially own our house Grin Grin (despite living in it for 6 months already Wink ). feel like cracking open the champers appletize Grin . I have banned myself from decorating the sitting room this afternoon (but not chores) and hoping I will get a lie down at some point but no point now as alice been asleep for a while so as soon as i drift off she will be awake. Maybe I shall catch up with desperate housewives :)

Wonder if Wiggles has got to ibiza yet

jane i am very very excited for you, but, at the same time i don't want to get too excited just incase - when i was ttc i had a month where i was convinced i was pg but it was just pmt Hmm Confused . Not trying to put a dampner on by any means, hope you know what I mean. Maybe I should just shut up Hmm

Lucy 3lbs 10oz born 24/12/10 @ 0650 Katie 5lbs 1 oz born 24/12/10 @ 0715. Identical girls

Reastie - Our routine is pretty much girls wake at 7 - 7:30 have bottle, dressed and washed play until 09:00. Sleep 09:00-10:00. Play in walkers/playmat - bottle at 11:00/11:30 - Bed at 12:00 - 14:00 I let them sleep until they wake on their own (Katie often sleeps 12-3!)

Bottle at 14:30-15:00, play until 16:30. Sleep wherever they are at 17:00 - 17:30 ish. Bottle at 18:15/18:30. Bed at 19:00. They go through until 07:00/07:30 next morning! Took a few weeks to get them in to sleeping properly during day and we do go out and do things but if they are not in cot for lunchtime sleep i usually pay for it!

Not started weaning yet but will prob do baby led weaning maybe start next week.

jackfrost · 15/06/2011 13:08

Reastie - Am I right in thinking you are a food tech teacher? Do you or anyone else for that matter have a recipe for fish pie in a slow cooker? Preferably low fat but tasty will do!

reastie · 15/06/2011 13:12

jack how do you cope with 2 ? I mean, logistically I just can't imagine how I'd cope for exmple if they were both hungry at the same time or both screaming at the same time. I feel like I spend the whole day changing nappies/feeding etc - goodness knows what it's like for you. Completely amazed by how you are coping and what a good routine you have.

I think I have been mucking a bit about with alice as we've been out and about and I've wanted to make she she was fed before weleft or got enough feeds in before bed so there have been times where I've woken her up to feed her - maybe this is my big mistake . We are having a quiet day at home today so there will be no waking her up and messing her about today Grin

jackfrost I am indeed but I'm not v good at slow cookers - never used one Blush so can't really help afraid. I have, however, been wondering whether it's worth geting a slow cooker to make doing dinner easier as I can do it when I have time during the day - is one to be recommended? (bear in mind we are both veggie so no meaty meals will be required)

OP posts:
jackfrost · 15/06/2011 13:22

Well we still go out, baby group on a wednesday morning, baby massage monday afternoon, swimming thursday and sunday. They pretty much fit around me and im fairly good at carrying 2 around now if needed! I have found that it is easier to feed both in buggy if they are both screaming hungry but generally we get to feed times and I feed them before they ask so that way they are not starving but are ready if that makes sense? The routine took me a while to actually sort out but now that I have its great because I generally know what they want when they cry!

I def recommend getting a slow cooker, I love it! Veg in gravy all day is lush! Brill for meat and I think you can do pud in one too!
