July 2010: Drool it, maul it, crawl over it - that's how our threadbabes would eat a creme egg. But why the Creme Egg?!

mylife ur right and i know, but i still feel ashamed that i cant control my feelings any better than my own baby!!
DH has got up now and he isnt mad with me which im glad about. D's nappy rash is much better but now he seems to have developed a cold, all teething symptoms i recon. Hope E is better this week, is he ok at home or is it just nursery.

Spirael · 22/05/2011 10:29

Morning all! Sorry to hear your night was rough, viksam. Good to hear that D is being good this morning though. :) Hopefully you'll be able to catch up on some rest/relaxation time!

M still has her milk feeds from bottles, though she'll happily drink from a beaker or cup with meals. I probably should start shifting her over to beakers/cups for milk feeds too, huh? I'm just worried it'll take aaaages to get any milk into her and/or end up all over the floor!

Especially since I fear she's having another growth spurt currently. I just can't get the food into her fast enough! She eats every hour or two, clears a side plate worth of food, is drinking 25+floz milk per day and has started waking at 3am for more milk. Confused

And yet she's still only 8.5kg. Hmm Where does she put it all??

Inspired by all the cooking stories, I made a Goan Prawn Curry last night from scratch. Grin ... It was lethal. Shock It was only meant to be medium spice level, but it was eye watering to eat. Needless to say, after testing it I quickly made up something else for M to eat.

Trying a Tikka Masala tonight... Though I'm going to half the spicy ingredients!

In other news... M HAS FORWARDS MOBILITY!! Grin Grin I'd say she's crawling, but it's more like slithering forward across the floor on her tummy with arms and legs flailing, like a little gecko. Hmm ... Does that count??

She's also suddenly mastered pushing herself up to sitting from being laid down. Grin [runs off to childproof everything]

viksam · 22/05/2011 10:38

tsc can u live like that? Are u able to put it to the back of ur mind?
My DH is really very good with D but I do all the night time wake ups which is probably only fair cos i only work three days a week and he does full time and runs another lucrative busiess which i reap the benefit off too so i cant complain about him really, i just wish there was more time at the weekend for us to do something together and for him to spend working on his business, but there isnt so we have to share time as best as we can.

tsc well in that case i think u have to trust in him, u have no other choice at the moment, but it never does any harm to have a bit of ur own cash. I dont have any of my own atm and i hate that. I built up what i considered to be quite a lot before my last mat leave but this time i have nothing at all, in fact, less than nothing Sad
Well after the debarcle of an early morning we have had a nice first half of the day, DH has got loads of work done whilst me and D have played, put the mountain of clothes away upstairs and actually got three of DH's shirts ironed ready for work!
Where is everyone today?

viksam · 22/05/2011 13:00

Meant to say mylife D is the same, just wants what hes not supposed to have, inc dog chew, cat food, dog bed, cats tail, momas books, momas lap top, remote controls, etc etc.................

malibustac · 22/05/2011 13:50

Had a totally shit night had to give in at 4.30 and give her a bottle but it didn't make a difference! Have to go to mil's so will catch up later

vik sorry you had a crap time, thats exactly how I get and feel like leaving him. Its nice that you get sympathy here though.

CakeandRoses · 22/05/2011 17:26

afternoon all,

back from the christening/baptism [confused about religious ceremonies] which went well, we're all shattered tho - esp F who didn't have time for a nap today.

the groclock did keep F in bed til 7am today which is the first time in a couple of weeks but he's still a bit confused about it so was up a few times before that. tis progress tho.

the thomas stage show was pretty impressive set and train wise but really lacked the cheeky adult jokes these shows usually sneak in so it was a bit boring for us. F and A loved it tho.

mlic and tsc your meal plans look yum. your shopping trip sounded grim tho mlic

tsc did you see the dal recipe i wrote out for you on t'other thread?

welcome back kk. missed you!

Congrats on the mobility spirael

how're you feeling now vik? don;t beat yourself up about losing your temper. we've all done it

Evening all! youve been chating a lot again!!
kk welcome back!
cakes glad A and F liked the show!!!
mlic im just about to start meal planning, I loved mushrooms all my life but since having L I still eat them but only add a few for texture!!!
L is properly walking now can walk the length of the room now and is gaining momentum!!
The meal was great but then we had a row when we got home! he called me a fucking snob because I dont want to go to a weatherspoons pub to see his fucking mother with L!!! weather spoons are for people with drink problems around here apart from at a weekend when all the bingers (inc myself when im out) but im a snob as i dont want L in a non children friendly grot hole!!
we then went to carboot today and sold loads, made £100! then went to pizza hut with L but he is so tired, he screamed all night for my mum he was up from 10.30 til 12.30 then up again from 2.30 screaming til he could hardly breath i dint know why though so we have a mr grumpy tonight! Ive got neurologist tomorrow for a check up then going on a private lesson to learn to ice and butter cream cakes so L's birthday cake looks good, I dont want mil thinking she can do better!!!

viksam · 22/05/2011 19:34

cake is christening christian and baptism catholic?? I wont be doing either, will u? The show sounds good, did it hold A's attention all through?
stac what is wrong with these early wakers/night wakers at the moment, is she teething still? I wish someone had the answers!
DH its horrible to feel so fruatrated and actually angry and feel like ur not in control of it either. It must be hormonal as i usually mamage to keep myself in check. Im feeling very emotional atm, just spoke to my mom in the hospital and blubbed afterwards, DH must think im loosing my mind!
Meal planning looks ace, i have been looking at recipies for the slow cooker and i read some out to DH and he didnt really fancy any, so i told him to be prepared to try some cos im gona make them! Ha!
memphis I totally agree re weatherspoons, if i never go in one again it wil be too soon, i dont wana rub shoulders with all my shop lifters and social scum of the town thank you very much. Ur not a snob u just know a scum hole when u see one! Ur private lesson sounds interesting. Whats everyone doing for 1st birthdays?
Just awaiting the arrival of curry and i may have a teny glass of wine....im starved, hurry up food!!!

We're having a bbq in my mum's garden for D's first birthday. Hopefully it'll be sunny, it'll be my side of the family (its a sat) so might do something with DPs side the next day.

memphis83 · 22/05/2011 21:04

for L's birthday we are having a pirate themed (for me not L) garden party for friends and family with a mahooosive bouncy castle (for DH) its only costing £30 for 8 hours hire!! we are making the most of the lovely garden as we wont be here next year so wont have room to have both families and friends in the next house i presume! Thats on the weekend before (10th) and on his actual birthday we are going to the sealife center!! I love it there they have otters!!!
mlic so glad the feast went down well! I want that cookbook, im trying to get it from a library around here and just write down the recipes I like but no library has got one around here!!
vik I was planning on a cake in a shape of a 1 but they are tiny so she has almost made me decide on a number 1 then cupcakes all frosted like the american style cupcakes for the kids to take home but im not convinced on cupcake, for someone im pretty shit at making little cakes, still tempted to pay for someone to make one and fob it off as my own!! on subject of christenings isnt a christening for christians, communion for catholics and baptism is baptist? my dad is a born again baptist!! as the christians wouldnt let him get married under their roof for being a cheating divorcee Hmm
my meal plan for week is
1- cakes veg and lentil pie
2- quiche with jackets
3-chilli
4-pasta bake
5-ratatoulli with chicken for dh
6-curry

my plan is a whole week where i make everything, ive now stoppedbuying any sauces so im forced to use my brain every day to make stuff!

WhatSheSaid · 22/05/2011 21:35

Don't know what we'll do for G's bithday, it's winter here (though still not too bad), A is excited about doing something for it (any excuse for cake and balloons really).

G won't bfeed cos of her sore tongue Sad I have had to dig the breast pump out (thankfully still have it - haven't used it since she was a few weeks old) and express some as am now getting sore boobs as she hasn't bfed since about 7pm yesterday (about 13 hours, including overnight).

She will drink the ebm from a cup thankfully and is eating soft stuff, I think her tongue is just sore, poor poppet. She is drinking lots of water too so I'm sure she'll be OK but was a bit hard overnight as it took me an hour to get her back to sleep when she woke (twice) as she normally has a quick feed still and last night she wouldn't.

Chulita · 22/05/2011 21:47

Christenings tend to be Church of England/Anglican, baptisms are other denominations of christians and catholics but everyone seems to do their own thing really. Christenings tend to be for babies, as are Dedications whereas baptists mostly believe that you should only be baptised as an adult (not that you're all interested!) Baptists are Christians but one group of them, ridiculously muddled up this religion!

wss poor G, hopefully her tongue will heal up quickly and she can get back on the boob.

We're not doing anything for S's birthday I don't think cos we don't have any friends here yet...

WhatSheSaid · 22/05/2011 21:56

oh and memphis, I meant to say, being called a "fucking snob" is well out of order, I would be very Angry if I were you!

Chulita · 22/05/2011 22:04

memphis weatherspoons is only good as a starting place for a youthful 'night-out' imo, not a place for babies, I don't blame you for not wanting to go! And your dh is properly out of order for calling you that!

dh a family bbq sounds lovely, that's the sort of thing we might do if we go up to my parents' (unlikely though)

Don't mushroom risottos make the rice all grey?

malibustac · 22/05/2011 22:24

Welcome back kk glad you had a good time

Memphis would be mad at being called a snob especially sine wetherspoons is a dive we used to use them for a cheap drink before the dancing (sticky carpets and grotty bogs)

Viks if you find the answer to sleepless nights I will pay you to fix my little madam. I am begining to think its teeth again as she is running a temp, has a runny nose and is getting a sore bum hope D sleeps better tonight. Don't be hard on yourself about being wound up, babies are hard work

First birthday our end will be 2 seperate get togethers, dp's parents want to do cake and stuff with my aunt ad we will have a bbq with some friends (I think)

Cakes sounds like a nice day

Mlic, tsc and memphis love your meal plans may have to steal ideas.

Wss hope poor G's tongue is better soon

Chulita would your parents not come to you for S's birthday?
