July 2010: Drool it, maul it, crawl over it - that's how our threadbabes would eat a creme egg. But why the Creme Egg?!

Congratulations Viksam Smile no advice for nappy rash apart from letting the air about it.

Bethan is cruising round the furniture now Confused I think she's just desperate to catch her big bro.

Still not a tooth in sight in her little gummy head though but she's been really unsettled this past week so I think they might finally be on there way.

memphis83 · 18/05/2011 19:33

Lyndon took his first steps this afternoon, 4 big steps then looks so shocked when I screamed he dropped to a crawl, sloping back off again now, after ive ruined tea as well so im going hungry tonight!!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/05/2011 19:55

Dylan is sick, I dont know why :( hes been sick twice today, proper heaving and bringing up food. Hes overly clingy and cries all the time unless hes feeding.
Hes had god awful nappies, really stringy and mucousy. Any ideas?

Spirael · 18/05/2011 19:57

[materialises] I'm here! What did I miss? :)

Welcome back Dylthan! And well done to Memphis' L! Grin (Is it wrong that my brain is reading that back as "Memphis Belle"?)

Still very Envy of all the walkers... M continues to be resolutely immobile and just sit on her bottom in the middle of the blanket, determined not to go anywhere! Is she the only one now that hasn't crawled/bottomshuffled/cruised?

She's silent too, so I've been pinning my hopes on the fact that she's evidently highly advanced in the fine motor skills. So I brought her home some wax crayons this evening and sat her in front of a piece of paper, waiting for her to produce me a masterpiece...

What actually happened was she ate the wax crayons for dinner. Hmm Or at least tried to!

Actual dinner in this house was baby sweetcorn, herby potatoes and quiche. Yum! M had some halved baby tomatoes too, because she loves them so much I just can't resist - especially since they're good for her!

I just cut bits of salad up small TSC and use a bit of vinegarette dressing when I give them to M. She then just picks up the bits and munches her way through in order of preference (tomatoes first!). She struggles with the rind of cucumber though at present...she needs more teeth!

When M's had a bit of nappy rash Viksam, I've just used a bit of barrier cream (sudocream) after nappy changes for a day or two and it seems to clear up quite quickly.

Lastly, I am a creme egg eating failure... I just can't stomach them! Sad They're so sweet and rich that they make me throw up afterwards if I try and eat one. Which is a shame as they're delicious...

Rahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! the dog just barked at the cat and i shouted at him and now D is moaning and crying in his cot after self settling to sleep half hour ago. See what im saying about the cat............or do u all think im an evil cowbag?
I did let D go nappyless for about an hour before and after his bath so hopefully it might help a bit.
Well done Lyndon, thats ace!
Thanks Dylthan its quite a shock and frankly i dont think i'll believe it till the scan!

CakeandRoses · 18/05/2011 20:51

bloody chatty lot when i've been out. F's been gorgeous today, so sweet and funny - could eat him.

tsc i just rip salad leaves up small and add dressing

chul do you have a good wholemeal pastry recipe please? (does mlic like an iron?)

post properly later as i need to get the plates etc (wine) out ready for the curry dh is just out collecting

Funnily enough mlic that's exactly the same as mine Hmm

Hello dylthan

memphis have you had any tea? I agree with mlic it's no good not eating at all.

viks that's so irritating about the cat, sometimes they just can't get their head around stuff.

We had risky nookie at lunch after DH watched the children at a local children's centre while I was at the dentist, he got into a strop cos he was bored of chasing S around, sulked for 3 hours and then decided that was foreplay enough...lucky for him I'll take what I can at the mo Grin

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:25

mlic the Hmm face was pointless, looking at it it's just annoying me now, don't take it to mean anything cos it doesn't.

S went to bed around 6.30, woke up screaming about an hour ago, I caved and fed him and he keeps waking up and crying Confused I might calpol him, not sure what's wrong.

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:35

dh sounds like a stomach bug to me, they can pick up all sorts while crawling around on the floor and they eat whatever they find don't they!? Keep an eye on him, try and get as much fluid down him as you can to replace whatever he's throwing up and give him the cuddles he need imo. We all feel rubbish when we're sick! I hope he picks up for tomorrow! If he keeps throwing up I'd think about taking him to the doctor's in the morning.

CakeandRoses · 18/05/2011 22:20

cheers mlic. any ideas why you mix it with plain (assume white) flour? is 100% wholemeal too heavy?

Just thought - how (if at all) has this thread changed you/what you do/think?

For me, it's:

  • Making pastry (not that i have yet but the thought is there). That's after bloody chul ruined my guilt-free jusrol reliance
  • Getting F to stay in his own bed all night after mlic's nagging about itmention of getting in E's bed to settle him rather than letting him in with them.
  • Using amber necklaces on F and A, thanks to mlic's woo influence
  • That facebook is worth bothering with - I signed up years ago but had got bored with it until I started chatting to you fb-obsessed lot
  • Have realised that its fucking normal for babies not to bloody sleep despite everyone in RL having 7-7 sleepers Hmm
  • That dude is a very useful term of endearment, props to tsc, dude
  • And just generally making me realise how wonderful most women are. It's amazingly lovely that you can 'meet' a random selection of women from all sorts of places and backgrounds and end up with such a close, funny and supportive group like this. It's actually made me view RL mothers at classes and groups differently as I now assume I'd have something in common with pretty much anyone.
  • There's never justification for eating a creme egg Grin
  • This thread HAS NOT changed my view about F's teething troubles tho Grin

The question above was to everyone btw, not just mlic Grin

can't think right now cake, will answer tomorrow!

with regard to salad, i haven't actively given J lettuce but he does like to grab it off my plate and eat it. i guess it looks interesting.

dh, sorry to hear dylan is ill. j has now had dodgy runny nappies (with bits of undigested food) since Monday morning. I'm not worried as he seems fine in himself and is eating and drinking as normal, but it is a dramatic change in bowel habits. hope both of them clear up soon.

spirael, j is not crawling either, though i don't think it will be too long. he isn't pulling himself up either, though he came closer than ever before round at my friend's house today using her vtech walker. he was pulling himself to kneeling anyway, so that's got to be a start.

Have sent dh to the couch night 2 of rileigh bootcamp is underway so he's banished as he gives in too easily.

Welcomes dythlan back with a high 5. How's being back at work?

Viks I'll drink wine for you if it help?

Well done to L on walking. Wish it was R!

thread survey

_ I'm not a baker/cook per say but you have inspired me to try new things

  • like that we all have different opinions and don't get shot down for expressing them
  • grateful to have had all the support/advice and information from very early pregnancy and continuously especially because of the age gap between dc's
  • I agree with tsc and cakes. That it has shown how such different women can get along and help each other
  • like the fact that through fb we have all 'met' each others families

morning all,

F slept thru in his own bed again. Can't quite believe it really. He's so proud of himself in the morning and tells me "no mummy or daddy [had to spend hours in the freaking early hours resettling me]" as if i didn't know that. He's 2 stickers away from his new drum Smile, which he also informs me of every morning.

quite cool this survey i think

Haven;t you eased back on ironing a tad too mlic?

did you answer my Q re which curry paste a while back? sorry if you did.

how's D today dh?

how's the fong's chest/feeding tsc? great news on the temp job.

falaffelalafeelfels need to be drenched in humous and tahini sauce (if you can make it, i can never get it tasting right) to be great, imo. the wrap i had from the stall in cambridge recently had mango chutney too, that was da bomb.

did you eat memph? is walking-boy running you ragged now?

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/05/2011 08:13

just thought, would you family eat a dal type dish tsc? you can chuck other stuff into it too to jazz it up and have it with breads and/or rice to suit, plus chutney etc. super cheap and easy but very yum, imo.

my two love it - most children seem to actually despite it looking like the contents of the potty from your worst nightmare.

He was up every 1-2 hours, boiling hot and sweating. He was sick at 3am. Hes had calpol this morning, really hard getting that into him, I have to use a syringe and literally hold him down with DPs help.

Hes def getting another tooth, his third at the bottom is just peeping through, Ive found the bonjela so thats going on too.

WhatSheSaid · 19/05/2011 08:47

Aww, mlic called us ladies

I would answer your survey but I'm too frickin tired at the mo. G decided to get up at 4.53am and Would Not Go Back To Sleep. I'm about to watch Corrie and go to bed now .

I first got into flallaflaflalalafel when I was in Israel and they have stalls on the side of the road selling it as a snack, with lots of yummy sauces. Tis lovely and I used to have lots of it in my vegetarian years. Must get some again soon (or even try making it).

Have a nice day y'all Smile

Woodlands · 19/05/2011 09:16

I hate falafel. It's all dry and horrible.

dh sorry to hear D is so poorly. Hope he gets better soon.

J has been awake on and off since 4.30ish. grr. How long after stopping feeding him then before he actually stops bothering to wake up?!
