July 2010: C'mon threadbabes: eat like MLIC's; drink like TSC's; smile like Memphis's; laugh like Cakes's; crawl like nearly all of them (except Cake's)... but mainly: sleep like Spireals

Here we be (phew!)

I have two tupperware boxes on my desk at the moment, one of which contained my lunch and the other some chocolate brownies I'd made for the team. And I have a tupperware cupboard at home. Can I stay? Wink

I'd be much more interested in a tupperware party than an Ann Summers or Bodyshop party too, memphis! Grin

Though I have to confess to being more of a Lock and Lock girl. The amount joy I experienced when I was allowed to buy the Lock and Lock cake storer after M was born is disturbing. It was almost as thrilling as when a friend gave me a professional quality kitchen knife for my birthday...

Chulita · 10/05/2011 12:54

spirael I'm a lock&lock girl too, I call it Tupperware but I don't actually own any real tupperware I don't think.

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 13:03

you can stay spirael, not sure about that woodlands creature tho

i'm a lock and lock girl too. something life-affirming about that 'click' (or is it a 'snap'?) as the lids thingies lock into place Grin

i never use the food processor chul - seems to big and washing-uppy. dh bought ours to use for one specific recipe he was making (on his twice-yearly cook) Hmm and its never seen light of day since. i need to appreciate the qualities of it before i'm even worthy to even think about the holy grail that is a magimix.

right - i have 'wasted' the whole of A's nap on fb and mn apart from some chores i had to do on ebay and taking a shower. i did answer to overdue messages on fb tho.

catch y'all later

memphis83 · 10/05/2011 13:16

I buy the lock&lock ones too, I nealy bought one the other day with a rounded top for onion!! i kept picking it up and putting it down then my mum said she thought that would take my obsession to an unhealthy level Grin

Food processor is really useful - i use it for things like making houmous, making one type of pizza sauce, slicing potatoes thinly for dauphinoise, and yes, grating carrots for carrot cake! we also have a hand blender with a food processor attachment that gets used a lot for blending up curry paste - onion, garlic, ginger, spices, oil, and then you can fry the paste.

funny how different people find different items of kitchen equipment useful!

Chulita · 10/05/2011 16:39

I used mine yesterday to whizz up a batch of sugar-free baby biscuits for S - my own recipe, I was quite proud of them Grin I also use it to make pastry cos it's mega-quick and you don't touch it much which makes lighter pastry. DH desperately wants one of those handheld blenders for when we make soups but we've not got around to getting one yet.

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/05/2011 16:57

Hello all

Stayed at my mums last night, Dylan was awful though, woke up every 1-2 hours.

I really miss DP, hes on his way home, cant wait to see him

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 17:07

I like the hand (I do use a spoon btw!) mixing part of making cakes so think that's why I've never been seduced by food processors before. You guys are tempting me tho so I'll dust it off and give it a whirl. I do use a blender which is ruddy massive, maybe I need to out that and get a hand one instead one day.

memphis I tend to sell more expensive stuff like my coffee machine and expensive old baby equipment. I'm currently selling an armchair on there. Everything else I take to the charity shop.
wss meant to reply re downtown abbey - I don't watch much tv and haven't seen it but it was popular. Think one of the cast was one of tsc's many sleb mates :)

Having such a lazy day tho have somehow ticked loadsa chores off my list. Currently having tea n cake with Aurelia in tearooms in town.

Talking of tv - the apprentice starts tonight. I bloody adore it but I'm taking my step-mother out for dinner tonight so will have to watch it later :(

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/05/2011 17:31

Oooh we watch the apprentice too, cant wait for it to start!

MelissaM · 10/05/2011 19:13

Hi ladies. Trying to keep up but failing! Been really busy (not sure what doing) so not getting chance to post. If can get on pc 2moro will do surveys.

L slept thru Fri night but has woken every night since (tho only once most nights which is progress). I've also put him down for two afternoon naps this week without him even asking for milk clawing at me so hopefully his sleep is heading in right direction.

Will try to catch up properly at some point!

memphis83 · 10/05/2011 19:16

cakes i have a huge box of stuff to sell on there but last time i listed it all to end on same day and struggled to take it to post, L had 3 boxes on his lap in pushchair! so just doing a few at a time now!! and the smaller stuff we are carbooting and what left we will charity shop!
dh i miss my dh loads when hes away even if i wanted to kill him before he went!
I have a hand blender that i use for everything and it has a mini chopper that we can clip on but dont tend to use many gadgets i do want one of those mixers chulita has though ive asked dh if he can get me one in a year or 2!!
dh has gone out on his bike so im left to MN! L's bottom is so sore got 2 open sores that are almost covered but still sore and what looks like blood blisters all over his bottom too!

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 19:31

Which one on Downton Abbey is your cousin, tsc? It's not hottie-Liam-from-Corrie is it?

I really enjoyed it but when the main bloke was on couldn't get the super injnction stuff out of my head.

I do have a cupboard (the one under the sink) of tupperware type stuff bit it's usually a disorganised mess. What with that and my non-ironing and my washing all colours of clothes together...I'm not much of a catch am I Grin
