Night all, hope this one is more peaceful and sober for all than last night.

A's just woken up for her midnight feast which i've decided to continue with for now as my body clock prefers this to an early wakeup - and it seems one or t'other is usual.

mlic it sounds as tho you're going thru a tough time again/still. i hope some good comes of it and you're 'ok' x

Morning all

Hope you're OK MLIC.

Cake I'm still undecided whether to cut out dairy again or not. DP doesn't think it's anything to do with it so I'm still "monitoring".

FWIW, yesterday was a very good day. She was in a good mood for most of the day and even laughed and giggled a lot. DP also managed to leave the room when he was on his own with her and go to another room without her freaking. She could still see him and hear him but normally just turning to the door is enough for her to completely losing it. I still can't manage to leave, but it's progress that DP can.

M has been coughing all through the night. I feel so sorry for her. It's all the stuff from her blocked nose running down her throat and making her cough (sorry, TMI). She is such a good sleeper and still managed to sleep through all this but I really feel for her (and me, cos I was up listening all night through the monitor).

TSC Wow, respect for dealing with a hangover while taking care of children. I'm not sure I could manage that. Just as well I'm pregnant, at least I'm not tempted to get pissed.

WSS Did you have a nice Mothers Day? How sweet that your husband doesn't want to leave you again for so long. DP is the same, we don't do being apart very well and like it best when we're together and always have done.
Funny you should say about having a bank holiday for the Queen's birthday but not the UK. My Australian aunty said exactly the same thing the other day and was feeling a bit smug Grin Hope you'll have a great time on your holidays.

Spirael M doesn't mind water splashed in her face either. Now, having a face cloth wiped over it is a different story altogether though and requires screaming Grin

Chulita Poor S with all his accidents. I hope he is recovering.

Cake I loved your photos of the playroom. Looks fun and I would love to play in it. I still haven't figured out how to comment on FB without everybody else (apart from the July group) seeing it, so I'm commenting on here now. I also loved the photos of the festival. A is such a smiler and so cute.

I'm meeting a friend with baby this afternoon for coffee and playground. The weather has been gorgeous. What's everyone else up to?

Dh and I don't normally say stuff like that to each other Trudyla, it suprised me a bit. We've always been quite independent souls and had our own friends/lives etc to some extent. So it was quite nice to hear Smile

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 09:17

Morning all

Can't quite believe it but we all just overslept til gone 8am when A woke up Shock. definitely no plans to cut out her dream feed now! dh had to go haring round the house to get ready for work but still made me a cup of tea (via the pot, how i like it Smile) before he went, god love him.

Thank you for your compliments trudy Smile. F loves the playroom. he and I lay on our backs in the wigwam yesterday pretending we were camping Smile. This morning before nursery he said "I'll put my sandals on in the 'wikwak' mummy" Grin

A is the smiliest thing ever. I swear she's just doing it to make me broody for a 3rd. She could make a nun broody. If I could guarantee another one like her then I'd be sorely tempted even at nearly 40 Shock but would probably end up with a horrific sleeper like F was.

she's currently obsessed with going in F's room, even when he's not there - like now. I'm sure she know's it the Big Boy's room. Oh and he was funny yesterday, the waitress in a cafe brought his babycino over and he said "For big boy. Thank you" Blush. I swear I don't call him that (do i? Confused)

what are you all up to today? I've got nothing planned for once (bliss) but do need to catch up on a few bits and pieces such as re-arranging my tupperware .

Oh and trudy as mlic said the group is totally secret squirrel - no-one can even see you;re a member let alone anything you post to it such as latest photos (hint, hint Grin)

oh and trudy if you love round here then you can come to the festival next year!

oh yes, and it warmed the cockles hearing what your dh said wss Smile Hope mine gets a similar idea after his weekend away this week to visit his best mate in leeds...

I'll shut up now

WhatSheSaid · 10/05/2011 09:22

REarranging your tupperware. Aw bless. Grin

I am watching Corrie and after that Downton Abbey is starting, first episdoe tonight - I heard it was quite a big costume-drama-y show in the UK, any good? Worth watching?

Also, folks, I need some ideas, it is dh's 40th birthday in 6 wks, what can I get him? He like s cooking and is into really good quality kitchen stuff but I can't get him a set of pans for his 40th can I? I know there's all those "experience" pressies like racing cars and hot air balloon rides and all that, not sure about them....any suggestions?

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 09:27

stop luring me back when i need to go and do stuff wss

how about some kind of cookery-related experience day/thing? you know like you can get specific courses like sushi and sashimi or whatever he's interested in? or would a top chef there run some kind of observation/training session? or take him for a meal to a fine dining place so he can soak up ideas on techniques and ingredients - my sister loves food/cooking and this is her idea of heaven.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 09:33

ps a meal might not sound much but in london you'll easily spend £100+ inc champagne/wine at the type of place i'm talking about, not sure about prices there in nz.

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 10/05/2011 09:35

Meal out would be lovely but no babysitters and I'm too much of a softie to leave them with an agency babysitter I don't know. We only go out together at nights when dh's family are visiting once a year. Nice idea apart from that though.

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 09:37

sorry meant excl wine not inc

right, tuppercare calls.... Wink

awww A sounds lovely cake! i love it when j is happy and smiley. yesterday he giggled and smiled and bounced his way round sainsbury's, making friends with everyone we met. everything seems so much easier when he's happy. so glad last week's grumpiness seems to have eased for now.

cake has good birthday present ideas! can't think of anything to add, wss.

pretty terrible night here. i didn't go to sleep till 12.30 (yes, i know...) and then J woke at 2.45, 3.50, 5.00, 6.00, up for the day at 6.50. grr.

off to baby sign when J wakes up (need to wake him in 5 mins or so actually - i wish i'd been able to get him off to sleep earlier). no plans after that.

Oh wow, do they have proms these days in secondary school? Reminds me of 80s American films - Pretty In Pink etc

memphis83 · 10/05/2011 10:49

wss they have proms at all schools round here, I had an amazing one at a posh golf club, we somehow got the golf carts going 3 got crashed into lake and bridge over lake, 11 years on no one from that school is still allowed a function at the said golf club!!! my nephew went in a limo to his with all his mates, the local school here go OTT limos booked up 6 months before 3 course meals, not allowed in unless in a tux or gown!!!
tsc glad you seem to have dd1 back, hopefully now she will concentrate on her revision a bit?
cakes the room is beautiful!!! on the nearly 40 think mt grandma had 2 kids in her 40s, one at 42 and 46 i think!! oh and my step mum was 39 when she had her last!
oh and there is nothing wrong with re arranging tupperware, I do this weekly, its my favourite cleaning time!!! one thing I love about having a baby mini tupperware!!!
had stitches out, he said im a star patient and healed well but due to the bone not being put back in i have a hollow bit in my gum!!! got an hour til L gets home Grin

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 11:14

totally fucking with you memph - words can not describe the joy of beholding an organised tupperware cupboard. I nearly took a photo Wink. I will be joining you in a weekly tidy of said cupboard.

Nice one on the tooth front - enjoy your quiet hour. you've been pretty inspiring how brave you've been thru all this.

and thank you re the playroom Smile

lovely news about K, tsc actually brought a small tear to my eye (shit, i just typed ear and had to go back and change it!) as you sound like you've always had such a lovely, close relationship with her.

wss i'm the same re baby-sitters but am comfortable about doing baby-sitting swaps with a couple who are close friends - could you do the same?

OP posts:
Spirael · 10/05/2011 12:19

Saw this article and thought of you both, Cake and memphis. Wink

CakeandRoses · 10/05/2011 12:25

Grin at spirael. Thanks - my friend's mother was 'big' in Tupperware years back so will FB the article to her.

Chulita · 10/05/2011 12:32

Afternoon all, I'm a bit quiet recently cos I'm desperately trying to finish this jumper for S before the weekend when I'm hoping my mum will be down to help me sew it together. I can only knit during nap/bedtime which is also my mn time so mn is on the back-burner.
Our internet connection is also extremely most awfully rubbish so it takes me forever to load anything at all and I often lose posts.

cake I'd never have thought to use that colour paint on walls but it looks really good. Lovely playroom!

wss that's lovely what your DH said, mine said similar a while back and it really meant a lot to me Grin

memphis good stuff on being a model patient, I hope you put your feet up and chilled out or played with your tupperware or whatever you do to unwind Wink

tsc I know my youngest bro is rubbish when he's with his gf, he's a different person. Maybe this break-up will let her have a rethink and concentrate on exams.

Right, off to knit a few more rows and enjoy my falafel pitta. I could murder a cuppa!

memphis83 · 10/05/2011 12:38

chulita dont knock the tupperware we all know your a tupperware lover too!
spirael i was explaining tupperware parties to dh not long ago as i had been invited to an ann summers party, i said it wasnt my sort of thing and would be more excited over tupperware, he said if they still did parties here i would be a top seller as im so enthusiastic Grin
L is in a mood today, im just letting him turn the house upside down! I've lost my heart with baking at the moment as I baked bread and it was awful, really heavy, I know its because I struggle to knead, just bought cake from the cake shop and it was awful so gone in the bin!!

Chulita · 10/05/2011 12:42

memphis DH and I this morning had a 10 minute conversation comparing the virtues of one little tupperware box over another Blush he likes them as much as I do - very dangerous!
Breadmachines are the way forward for sure, I've got another loaf on at the moment.
(and magimixes cake, you know you want one)

Woodlands · 10/05/2011 12:43

you guys are weird. I keep J's snacks for the changing bag in a tupperware pot I had at uni - it has my name on it so no one would pinch stuff from the communal fridge. That's how little I care about tupperware!

memphis83 · 10/05/2011 12:48

Im ignoring woodlands I still think im rock and roll even with my love of tupperware!!! (I bought an airtight spongebob pot for L's snacks the other day)
