I liked the CRESH acronym more than FESH so have used it. Welcome all ESH to your final stop on the journey. Rest your aching lady bits, try one of the many gin based cocktails, and try to molest the gorgeous waiting staff.

Thanks alpro that was just what I needed to hear. I know chocolate AD isn't the same as actual chocolate, but it just made me think.

CUNextTuesday · 15/04/2011 10:08

Every time i pick Rastus up from the minders i present him with a skanking big box of thorntons. Guarantees a smile every time. As does putting his cycle helmet on, for some reason - prob connected with me knocking on it going 'is anyone there?'

CurlyCasper · 15/04/2011 10:13

If it's any consolation cossie, when Squeaks has been at home all day with SFF and I walk in she either A) keeps her eyes fixed on the telly and ignores me or B) takes one look at me and bawls her eyes out. I have yet to get a smile on my return home. First full day at nursery today and I am picking her up, so I wonder what evils I will get at 5.30pm.

Also, we were out somewhere, eating cake on Mothers' Day (he'd planned nought so I dragged them out), and we gave her a couple of tiny tastes of the choc on the cake (little pointy sprinkle things) and she gave no reaction whatsoever. Not really something to miss.

But I know it's hard to have someone else being there for them.

medee lovely to finally have you in here. have some cake and Champers.

Must go, I am meant to be working Sad

AlpinePony · 15/04/2011 10:17

We've had the same with chocolate curly - he really didn't go "gaga" about it at all, ice-cream on the other hand! Grin We gave him some Baked Alaska and fear he may have an addiction and one day he'll end up on one of those cruise ships filled with fat Americans, sitting on a chair doing arm exercises to the encouragement of Russell Simmons.

Cosmosis · 15/04/2011 10:21

Ah he's had ice cream, he liked it vv much! Same for chips. That was his grandad's doing Grin

Muser · 15/04/2011 10:44

FFS what a waste of time my (late) 6 week check was. All I got was a prescription for the minipill. For that I endured howling baby who should have been asleep but because I used pram instead of sling, because I was expecting some sort of foo check, she wasn't. Why couldn't they just have done that at her six week check? Useless twunts.

Some wise words from Alps there. They did not make me teary, no siree, this place just needs a dust.

Casserole · 15/04/2011 11:00

Medee I am SO PLEASED to see you Grin

Alps speaks The Truth Cos. She really does.

AlpinePony · 15/04/2011 11:00

muser Yep, 6 week check-up seems to work along the lines of your registration check-up with the university doctor. "Are you pregnant?", "no", "well, here's a prescription for the pill, bye". I did get my foo checked, not quite sure why given it wasn't used... Grin

Cosmosis · 15/04/2011 11:04

I got my foo checked, seems to vary from place to place.

Cosmosis · 15/04/2011 11:04

Er my foo doesn't vary, the check does. Just to clarify.

Muser · 15/04/2011 11:11

I've also just googled the mini pill to see if it stops your periods. It says you shouldn't use it if you have a history of ectopic pregnancy. Gah.

I have a feeling my foo went unchecked because the baby was crying. She's good at stopping anyone getting near my foo.

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 15/04/2011 11:21

good news on the foo front here: smear test clear! I was so convinced that I was heading for another colposcopy. However, I do now have to go back to the GP/nurse so they can do a closer inspection of the polypy things. Boo!

No foo peeking at my 8 week check.

Not getting much work done... Please to chastise me if i reappear

AlpinePony · 15/04/2011 11:35

cossie I am genuinely laughing here and dribbling my soup at the thought of your moving foo. It could be a new gameshow : Where's Cossie's foo? The contestants have to answer various questions about MN rules (e.g., fruitshoots vs. organic pear juice pressed by Peruvian peasants) and then when they get a question right they get to name their spot. Jim Davidson would present of course. What would the winner get in terms of a prize?

curly Fab news about your foo too! Friday is my obscenely quiet at work day...

Anyone else with any foo news?

PollyPoo · 15/04/2011 11:40

My foo did not get inspected at the 6 week check. Nor has it seen any action since birth. In fact there are probably cobwebs up there. And an old sofa. And a rusting bicycle.

Oh yes... speaking of foofs. Boo sat on the sofa next to me yesterday and did an enormous fart. I gasped and said 'was that your bottom?'. 'No' says Boo. I pulled the Hmm face and said 'I think it was'. 'No' she says 'it was my minky'. I snorted coffee out of my nose! Do toddlers do fanny farts?!!

FannyPriceless · 15/04/2011 12:01

Only 32 hours until MrP returns. Will I last the distance? William Hill are giving odds at 2-1. Place your bets now.

Nobody has inspected my foo at all! Apart from when I had to go back to hosp at 3 weeks for the weird lochia / fainting thing. That was the only time anyone took a look.

And mine is also out of use at present. Rusting old car, supermarket trolley, etc.

meds You are SO welcome! I have made you a very fancy cocktail - here, let me just light the sparklers before I pass it to you.Smile

cos Childminders and nurseries have a code that the parent must always experience the important things first. So one day when when Bonnie's nursery worker said to me 'I really think she's going to start taking steps soon' I later figured out what she meant. It was very nice of her.

And besides, even though I am now a devoted SAHM Bonnie still adores Daddy way more than me. It's never fair.

poo I'm loving 'minky'.Grin Yesterday Bonnie wanted me to read her a story but wouldn't let me sit next to her. When I asked her where I should sit she said 'You sit over there, love.' Shock How did my toddler start talking like a dinner lady?

PollyPoo · 15/04/2011 12:39

Grin @ Bonnie's use of 'love'! Oh dear FP, has it been a hellish week? I hope at least you have al remained healthy?

Phew, I don't want to tempt fate but I think BB is finally asleep... I'd better leave the room as I have such a hacking cough I keep waking her up. I've spent this week sleeping on the sofabed so at least she gets a decent nights sleep.

Medee · 15/04/2011 12:58
PollyPoo · 15/04/2011 12:59

Oh FFS. Boo has just woken BB up by screaming at me that I didn't dress Barbie when she told me to. Gah. BB has slept for approx 30 mins since 7am this morning. I thought I was finally going to be able to get in the bath but no - BB is in her swingy chair giggling at her own hands. It won't be long before the laughing turns to crying though as she is soooo overtired. Bollocks.

CurlyCasper · 15/04/2011 13:03

popping back in to give gentle hairstrokes to fan and pol. If only we could offer a virtual babysitting service.

PollyPoo · 15/04/2011 13:07

Meds!! Lovely to see you in here. How is little EA doing today?

Medee · 15/04/2011 13:39

she's marvellous, we had the first HV visit, and her weight has gone up another 100g since we left hospital. She's currently sleeping, but due a feed anytime.

Okiecokie · 15/04/2011 13:50

I think all of SW London medical profession have seem my foo and certainly had to get it out at 6 week check. I have also had my arse examined too due to bruised coccyx. To top it off I got my smear demand today - last one was in 2007 so I am well overdue due to keeping on having children so more people have had a prod up there.

Alps you speak wisely, as does FP. Tis true that nursery doesn't seem to say when mini Oke achieved things rather just leave it for me to discover like crawling, walking, saying "mummy" and counting to 10. Not sure how he learned to count to 10 as I did not teach him Confused

Didn't think they still made Angel Delight.

Medee · 15/04/2011 13:53

I think I need someone to look at my foo - I'm sure my stitches shouldn't be bothering me at nearly 3 weeks on. (not sore really, just aware of them)

Also, had an almighty shock at JL to discover I have gone from my normal 30C/D to 32F!

Medee · 15/04/2011 14:03

I'm C+Ping from a posting elsewhere, but this is the gist of what happened with EA. One day, I will write a fuller account (probably will need to as a sort of catharsis)

After a good labour, albeit not quite to plan, Elizabeth Alice, for that is what we named her, took to breastfeeding like a duck to water. Unfortunately, 12 hours after getting home, she decided to stop and became very listless. CMW saw us that afternoon, suspected jaundice so sent us back to hospital. She presented with a temp of 33, and blood sugar not even regstering, so was whisked to neonatal, and taken to ICU to be stabilised. An infection was suspected and MrM and I were distraught. After her sugar and hydration levels were stabilised, we were allowed in to see her, which is when the first seizure happened. All hands on deck and mrM and I sent out. The next 48 hours are a blur of anti-convulsants, antibiotics and the consultant explaining very scary things to us. Eventual suspected diagnosis is that it was meningitis, and she will get loads of follow-up care as the seizures did cause some small brain bleeds.

She is amazing though, and moved quickly from being tube fed my EBM to full feeds. Quickly, she became the wee girl we had first started to get to know. We got home yesterday, and have managed a lovely start to family life proper. I cannot thank the NHS enough.

AlpinePony · 15/04/2011 14:17

okie They do, mostly to cater for the expat market who find themselves craving Butterscotch flavour. Blush

medee I take it your husband will be dispatched to take "flattering photos" so that you may be able to look back one day and think phwoooaooooar! Don't hang them over the mantelpiece obv. Wink moo (should she return) probably has advice about stitches - she had faaaahsands of 'em - like zulus they was.

Oh gosh medee - that sounds terrifying. :( I suppose it's far, far, far too early to tell what the long-term implications might be, but (and my timing is probably shit), a colleague's 9 month old got meningitis when I was laying Bear. As a result he lost his hearing completely in one ear and partially in the other. 10 days ago he went under general anaesthetic to have a hearing aid placed inside his skull - operation went well and he was up and running around the ward the following morning. He just has to have the external piece fitted but is expected to live as normal a life as possible (she'll need to have e.g., cycle helmets tweaked), but it's been done before his speech patterens are established so he shouldn't be held back in any way.
