aaaaw, congrats hopefully, brilliant name Smile. Glad the CS wasn't left too late and you feel ok.

LOL at your 2 for 1 cocktails debi Grin. I would have done the same!

What brilliant news hopefully!Grin J sounds just like T. He was attached to my front like a vacuum cleaner pretty much straight out of theatre. I call him a very 'assertive' feeder.Wink We have semi co-slept right through. (He's 9 mths old and now spending a greater proportion of the night in his cot.)

I'm so glad the c-section went well. Just remember that you seriously need to take it easy in the first few weeks! If you're like me you feel like a million bucks right now - but you don't want to rupture anything in a post-birth high, multiple painkiller induced haze. So feet up. And well done you.Smile

Congratulations Hopefully Lovely name.
I started co-sleeping with Lucy when she was 8-9 weeks old and went off her cot. It is the only way I could guarantee sleep for me, DP and Robyn.

Huge congratulations hopefully!!! So glad the birth was a really positive experience for you. Yes yes yes rest up now while you have help around, even if you don't feel you need it this is your opportunity to be selfish with your time and concentrate on feeding and recovering!

DD was 4 yesterday...where did the time go?! She is such a treasure and was so good all weekend despite being in a dance show on Friday and Saturday night, so up really late. We spent all morning building her new lego, and playing her new games.

DS has started having the most epic tantrums every day. We've occasionally had the odd one in the past, but this is a whole other level, at least once a day he totally loses the plot. Not really sure why; its been going on for quite a while so I can't really blame the excitement of the birthday weekend! I guess its called being-two-and-a-half Confused. He's loving DD's new presents though Grin

carrie DD is currently tantrumming upstairs as I want her to have quiet time in her room.

DS was very, very naughty earlier. He wee-d on the fireplace Shock then spat at me when I told (ie; bellowed) at him to go to his room. He is so well behaved most of the time these days so this has really pissed me off.

So, all in all, a wonderful day Wink in meglet-towers. I'm going to hide in the garden in a bit I think. The good news is the lock is on my bedroom door so they can't pull it apart anymore.

Have another Biscuit meglet and some Wine!

Had our anomaly scan this afternoon - all well. Both DCs beautifully behaved in public of course (I guess that's how I'd choose it but stil...grr!) and the midwife had a longer conversation with DS than she did with me!

fanny how has your baby got to be 9m already?!!!

iltmimi it's your turn next isn't it?

Hope you have a better day tomorrow Meglet f throws a wobbly about everything, which spoon he wants to use, getting himself dressed when we are in a rush, the list can go on and on.

Great news on the scan Carrie Smile

Yep, I think it's me next, I'm due in just under 4 weeks. Getting quite bored with this whole gestating thing at the moment tbh, it's hard work! I am also trying to enjoy the last few weeks ds and I have together just us

At least your ds can dress himself lolly, ds shows NO interest in doing it himself.

Well finally M has decided to wee on the potty - she just went and did it herself at the weekend, another the next morning and 2 wees and a poo tonight! We're going camping in a couple of week so I'm not sure how that'll be ....

Huge congrats Hopefully and yes, rest up (I don't see a photo, how come - is it on FB? Nosey)

I'm really glad your csection was a positive experience. After my emergency one, i only have dark thoughts about them!

Just popping on quickly as DD on way home from nursery and BT has played silly buggers with our broadband (ooh, she called DP a 'silly bugger' yesterday Blush oops)
She also said last night - 'India is where tea comes from'. Shock Now we either have a child genius or a really good listener!!!(I suspect the latter)
She's also asking tons of qns about where things come from - where does rain come from, where does cheese come from. Quite worn out with all the answers!

Ninja yay for M and potty training. Go with the flow, so to speak. Is it all 4 of you camping? How are things?

3 of us camping, we're going to the juggling convention with my sisters and kids. Should be 'interesting'!! The balloon modelling convention is there too so Maebh'll be happy Grin

Things are... well we're splitting up definitely. H wants to do it after the summer as we've got holidays together, but I think we have to tell DD1 before that as she's a very sensitive child and starting a new year with that at the same time will floor her.

H wants the kids half the time, but he's suggesting Tue, Thur Sat and every other Friday (which is when he puts them to bed at the moment) which seems to bitty to me.

He wants me to buy him out of the house

We only really talked about this yesterday (at 11.30pm - an annoying habit of his to only talk late at night).

I'm OK, a bit numb but just carrying on as normal, I can start to make lists!!

ninja wow. Really dont know what to say. You seem so calm!!! I know things havent been great for a while and I really hope you and he can work things out re: joint custody....I agree with you and think half week with you and half with him would be less upsetting/stressful for the dc.

xx

Debs75 · 06/04/2011 15:42

Oh Ninja Don't really know what to say. You do sound really calm which is good for the kids. His suggestion is a bit disjointed, I read it as every other day and if he wants them for the night they will be constantly flitting between houses so maybe a sun, mon, tues to weds split would be better. That way you bothe 'get' them during the week and at a weekend. Above all though it has to be flexible.
Hope you can sort things out regarding the house and hope the kids are ok.

Robyn is back at nurseryGrin she did really well and hasn't needed a nap for 3 days now. we are still keeping an eye on her incase the infections are not completely gone but her temps are all normal so looking good atm

Meglet · 06/04/2011 21:19

mrsA DS was an EMCS and DD was a much calmer and more civilsed planned CS. I was in the (lucky) position of not being physically able to give birth naturally due to my broken cervix so the planned CS was a no-brainer. But if I had the option I would have had a CS anyway, better the devil you know IMO.

ninja Sad. At least you have time to plan . Those overnight stays are very bitty, I would have thought it would be better for the children to have blocks of 2-3 days with each parent, or the 'normal' week with mum and weekend with Dad with other visits in the week. I am pleased to report I should be back at kickboxing next week, (I remember you mentioned it in the past). I last went when I was 20 weeks pg with DS nearly 5 years ago. I'm going to stock up on painkillers for afterwards Confused.

Did everyone have sun today? The dc's had mini-milks for supper after nursery Smile.

DebiTheScot · 06/04/2011 21:56

Sad ninja. I hope you can sort something sensible for the kids out. And enjoy the camping, it sounds fun!

We're not having major tantrums with ds2, just lots of small ones! And he's been hitting but it's ignorable at the moment. We are having more problems with him and ds1 together though. They can get on beautifully and will play rugby for hours in the garden. But then ds1 tells ds2 what to do and ds2 doesn't 'listen' (ie he either doesn't want to do it or hasn't followed the complicated instructions) so ds1 wallops ds2 over the head with whatever he has in his hands. Then we tell ds1 off and send him inside and he bursts into tears and tried to argue back and justify it.

We had glorious sunshine here too. It was 22C this aft! In the shade!

Thanks for the thoughts - I am calm and at the moment I feel that at least I know what's happening rather than always wondering where we'ere going, what I'[ve done to upset him, what kind of mood he'll be in ..... I can make decisions by myself too which has it's advantages

Thw thing is it'll make a lot less difference to my life than his in that I can't see him getting back to do dinners or sorting out homework etc. In fact if he has them some night I'll actually get the chance of a lie-in!!

The reality might be harder though and I'm genuinely really worried about DD1 who wet the bed for a year after M was born (she'd been dry at night for 2 years by that point).

On a more positive note M is amazing on the potty now and has even taken herself off to wee on the toilet by herself (with noone ther to supervise Hmm). Only thing is she's almost too keen to try and squeeze something out sometimes.

Thanks Debi the camping will be fun. We went for the day last year and there are workshops on all day as well as entertainment both spontaneous and organised and as many free balloons as you can blow up and twist. I have one sister (a juggling WAG) with hubby (he's the juggler) and 4 kids (11, 13, 15, 18) who do various diablo, fire hula hooping, unicycling, juggling,..... tricks and my other saner sister with a 5 year old - so fun for all.

We had lovely weather here too Grin but I was working Sad. I hope it continues tomorrow as I'm off and it's DD1's easter thing at school, she's made a scene with eggs 'Charlie and the Great Glass Egglevator' - it's fab!

The juggling convention sounds wonderful, we have no juggling connections at all but it sounds like a brilliant weekend for all the family!
Yay the sun has come out again!
We put the DCs in the same room on Monday, they've shared loads at my mum's and on holiday but somehow this still seems a bit too exciting so they've taken a long time to settle, and today they're both shattered and crying easily and on edge. DS has had a 2hr nap but DD is at nursery. I feel another afternoon of tv coming on, hopefully tonight they'll crash out instead of mucking around and catch up on some long overdue sleep!

I meant to say, congrats for the great scan Carrie and also excellent about DD's school news.

Ninja your sister's family sounds very bohemian - how amazing. Sounds like a fab trip.
Not too much to say about you and H splitting up as only you can work through it with DDs. IMO the time suggested by H does sound exhausting - flitting backwards and forwards. Like others have suggested a few days with you and a few days with him may suit better.

I hope it goes OK for DD1. A good friend of mine split from her H last year and she has a DS (5) and a DD (almost 4). DS is at school and has had a bit of a tough time adjusting. he has turned into an angry little boy apparently but the school are supporting him and my friend is a patient person (don't know H very well so not sure) and he is coming through it finally.

Just keep reminding yourself that in the long run, they are very adaptable and resliant.
Come here to let of steam/rant whatever you need to.

C is going through a phase of hitting me atm. We had tears at bedtime cos i warned her there would be no TV at bedtime (we let her watch Mr Tumble while she gets ready for bed) if she hit me again and she did, so TV stayed off. Cue heart-breaking sobs as reality struck home....... I stayed firm though. It was damn hard cos then we had a difficult bedtime, I can see why many people give in - tis so much easier!

Do you find yourselves constantly playing the bad guy and setting boundaries and consequences or am I too strict? I do try to relax and let her have fun but I also have clear boundaries. She started calling for nana when I'm being mean mummy, and then asked DP if she could have TV on when I said no. Sigh. Tell me it's normal. Should I ignore the hitting or give consequence warnings like I am doing?
I rarely raise my voice and always give her hugs if she gets upset but I don't back down or give in.
Or am i just being too 1950s?

It sounds to me like you're doing a wonderful job mrsa, you're setting clear boundaries, giving warnings and following through with consequences. DS went to bed with no bath or story last night as he was being very disobedient. Its so hard to do but worth it in the long run I promise! Our DCs get in big trouble if one parent says no and they just go running to the other parent...!
