Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CappuccinoCarrie · 30/03/2011 20:53

Sorry ensure I never gave you a 'welcome back' wave earlier!
Really hope Robyn is ok...
I've just learned a valuable lesson in why you should wear an apron, especially when wearing a white top and baking a chocolate cake. Doh.

DebiTheScot · 30/03/2011 21:12

thinking of you debs, hope Robyn is ok.

Congrats kagey, wow on the size! Well done!

Glad the key has been found lolly

Glad we could help MrsA!
I know the manager of the pre-schl ds2 will go to so I emailed her to see what she thought about going just once a week from Sept or going straight into 2 full days from Jan. She reckoned 1 session would be ok as he's used to childcare and didn't give an opinion on waiting till Jan. So still not fully decided.

pacita · 30/03/2011 22:34

Thinking of you, debs. Keep us posted. I do hope Robyn is fine.

Many congratulations, kagey!

Sorry for short post, I'm feeding and on phone.

ninja · 30/03/2011 22:56

bOOKMARKING - I'll have to check on here again to see about Debs, scary

Congrats Kagey

H is away skiing (again - his 3rd holiday this year Hmm) this week, the cat's ill and I have hours of marking Sad so just popping in

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 30/03/2011 23:51

kagey huge congrats and well done for getting to push - at least you did all you could.

ninja sorry you're having a hard time. Come here and rant anytime.

Carrie can I have some cake please?

Debs thinking of you and Robyn

Debs75 · 31/03/2011 08:52

Thanks for all the well wishes.
We went to A&E, which was packed. They checked her over and her temp was 39.5 so gave her more calpol and we stripped her down to just nappy. She was really lethargic and just wanted to sit in her buggy, not like her at all. After 30 mins they checked her temp and it had gone down to 38.4 so they sent us in to see a dr.
Dr checked her over completely and she decided that as she has had 2 previous chest infections and conjunctivitus which hasn't responded well to antibiotics she was overloaded with infections. She has also got an irritable ear.
She said to keep on the antibiotics and give her calpol and ibruprofen 2 hourly and try and keep her comfortable. If she gets too hot then strip her down and if she gets too cold then bundle her up. If her lips go blue again then she has to have her inhaler to see if that helps.
If she isn't better after the whole course of antibiotics then she may need a long course to finally get rid of everything. I think we will be back at drs when the antibiotics run out next week.
When she got up thuis morning her temp was high again so have dosed her up and she is a bit cooler and sat on my knee happier then she was last night.

Kagey well done! 9lb9oz is huge

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 09:13

debs phew....so glad she is ok. Sounds like she is really poorly, poor little thing Sad

kagey Congrats! Lovely name Smile

pacita · 31/03/2011 09:58

What a relief, Debs. Hope she gets well very soon

Kagey · 31/03/2011 10:00

Poor little Robyn, I hope the antibiotics do the trick first time around and that you are getting some rest after a scary night.

thanks ladies for the congrats and compliments! Elise is sleeping on my lap as I type.

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 10:26

debs That sounds so scary.Shock I hope she improves soon.

kagey Congrats! Lovely news. You sound so happy.Smile

carrie Very rude to make chocolate cake and not invite us over. Where are your manners, young lady?

Welcome back to everyone we have not seen for a while. It is so nice to hear how everyone is doing.

And for what it's worth, I am buring my head in the sand over the nursery / school question. DD is currently in a lovely private nursery 3 days per week but we can't afford to send DS anywhere until I find some work - which of course introduces a whole extra level of complication. And then there's the issue that we are currently in a rented house and who knows where we'll be living when the school enrolment question has to be answered.Confused So, as I say, head firmly in sand on this one.

skinmysunshine · 31/03/2011 11:12

Debs that sounded really scary. Am so glad she's ok.

Kagey congratulations.

Am so pleased we got DS into a lovely school. It was a nightmare as we originally didn't get offered a place anywhere. I'm sure DD will be happy there when she starts in September next year.

CappuccinoCarrie · 31/03/2011 16:24

And have a Brew to go with it, you all deserve a mid-afternoon break!

debs so glad Robyn is getting better, sounds very scary for you all.

fanny glad you've got a lovely nursery for your DD :)

ninja sorry your H is being an arse again :(

Tomorrow is D-day, we get The Letter (or in reality, The Email) saying where DD has got a school place...no reason why we shouldn't have got our first choice as everyone in catchment generally gets in, but there's still that nagging part of your brain that says what if...Confused

CappuccinoCarrie · 31/03/2011 17:16

DD got into our first choice school! I didn't realise the email came out today, and letter will arrive in the post tomorrow, I thought the email was tomorrow too!
Just waiting to hear from friends whether their DCs got in too.
So relieved :)

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 17:57

carrie great news Smile

ninja 3rd holiday this year? But this year is only 12 weeks old!!! Hmm
When do you get to go?

Debs75 · 31/03/2011 18:10

I missed the free cakeSad
Oh well 3 chocolate digestives will have to do, they are one of the 3 things Robyn will ask for and actually eat at the moment, the others are ice cream and jelly babies. she had yet another nap this afternoon but she is perking up a bit

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 18:45

Thats good news debs

DebiTheScot · 31/03/2011 20:48

so glad she is 'ok' Debs, sounds like she isn't really ok but at least it isn't anything life threatening. I hope they can do something to clear those infections up once and for all.

Is there any cake left? Or am I going to have to eat some chocolate instead?

Meglet · 01/04/2011 11:50

bookmarking....

FannyPriceless · 02/04/2011 16:46

Great news about the school carrie.Smile Thanks for the cake. I can now hold you entirely responsible for the spare tyre that has mysteriously appeared around my middle.Hmm

Hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow. I have placed eggs and smoked salmon prominently in the fridge, so let's hope he figures that out.Grin

Hopefully · 02/04/2011 18:38

Hey guys,

Just popping on v quickly in between feeds to announce that Jasper Henry was born on 29th March by C-Section. He is gorgeous and lovely and we are back home and recovering. C-section was a fabulous experience after the trauma of the last delivery. I seriously cannot get over how much better and full of energy I feel compared to last time, and this is despite repeated low blood pressure and a bigger-than-average blood loss during the op! Shows how ill I was last time.

J is feeding for England (the boy never stops, seriously), but luckily his latch is great, so I'm not very sore at all. He also won't deign to be put down at all (T was never that concerned about being held unless he was hungry, which, to be fair, was most of the time, but at least he occasionally went in a moses basket or pram for the 30 mins or so between feeds!). He has yet to spend more than 8 or 9 seconds in his cot before screeching to be back on one of us, and as our house is to tiny and T not the heaviest sleeper, I'm trying to avoid too much screeching for now. I am currently researching safe co-sleeping guidelines as he is, inevitably, in the bed with both of us asleep when I drop off while feeding him. It's not something I have the least desire to do at all, but I figure that as long as I'm inevitably going to drop off occasionally while feeding until he'll go in his cot occasinally, I'd better do it as safely as possible.

The c-section was 3 days earlier than expected - they phoned us on Monday at 2pm to tell us that there was a c-section slot on Tuesday, so Monday afternoon was spent maniacally packing, getting bloods done, and getting my mother down from wales 2 days earlier than anticipated.

T is coping really well, there have been odd wobbly moment (mainly when J is on my lap feeding for the 300th time that hour), but on the whole he's doing really well. The endless stream of visitors/presents/sweet treats has probably gone some way to assisting this... Blush

Becaroooo · 02/04/2011 19:23

oh hopefully what wonderful news! Many many congrats to you all.

I co slept with Toby (well, still do tbh!) and it was fine and meant we all got some sleep and ds1 didnt get woken up by screaming baby at 2am!

Love his name btw!

XXXX

Congratulations Hopefully I was just wondering earlier if you'd had your baby yet. Hopefully he'll let you put him down occasionally! Is he happy in a sling?

Yesterday I had a nightmare afternoon which included locking myself and the boys out and finding a dead cat under a neighbours car. So when I went out in the evening and saw "2 for 1 cocktails" I went a bit crazy! It was a colleagues leaving do and was a really good night out. I haven't had that kind of night out in years and years. But oh my goodness I suffered this morning! Felt ok by the afternoon and did 2 cycle rides.
