Ninja she did ask for no nappy which is why we took it off, we just had a brill 1st day and rubbish rest of the week.
I tried the choc button thing with DS when he was 3-4 and he still didn't get it, Damn ASD, I think Robyn would like that idea as she loves chocolates but she hardly ever has them.
I have tried knickers on her but she wasn't keen on them, maybe if she does well with no clothes I can add knickers later. OTOH she is at nursery 3 mornings a week so I could end up confusing her, I might ask them what they suggest.

Carrie Your DD sounds like my DD1, it took us ages to potty train her as she would ignore the signs that she needed a wee, we found out later that she had a weak sphincter and bladder.

ninja · 06/06/2011 14:50

sorry - said I'd be no help

FannyPriceless · 06/06/2011 15:00

Oh, she's definitely ready. It's me who has been putting it off. She really loves it and seems very proud of herself when she pulls down her pants etc. It's just that she doesn't seem at all upset if she has an accident. I thought they were supposed to hate it.Confused

CappuccinoCarrie · 06/06/2011 15:00

debs Can I ask how you found out - did you go to the docs and if so at what age? And what did they do about it? DD also has quite smelly wee - she's still in a nappy overnight and has to have clean pj trousers every day as they smell of stale wee.
I'm still pretty sure her problem is behaviour though rather than medical, I tend to hold on til the last minute to go to the loo and she's just the same, and she doesn't care about being wet so there's no motivation for her to stop playing and go (other than the motivation of sweets but the novelty seems to have worn off). She's always been so ahead of the game in other areas, this is obviously destined to be the one thing that my kids are really, really crap at . My hunch is to put DS back in nappies, but I'm not sure how he'll feel about that. I need to go to the post office this afternoon but the thought of him saying "wee coming!" while we're there is putting me off.

Becaroooo · 06/06/2011 17:29

Thanks carrie Glad you had a good hols Smile

Went back to GP today and got some ABs so lets hope they sort me out

Debs75 · 06/06/2011 20:49

carrie That sounds like DD at that age. She was wetting the bed almost every night until she was about 10 and then at least twice a night until she was 13, finally dry then.
We knew there was a big problem when she squatted down one day and wet herself, even though she didn't need the loo. We talked to an enueresis (sp) nurse and she referred us where we found out that her bladder was weak and she didn't get the signals that you normally get. She would just get the urgent feeling of needing a wee not the build up. She got scanned and her bladder wall was thicker which was why she wasn't getting the signals. We had to do lots of training with her, like potty training for a teenager but it sorted itself out buy time she was 13

CappuccinoCarrie · 06/06/2011 21:24

That thing of the urgent feeling but not the build up seems to be what both my kids are like. Hmmm, time to call the HV?

no potty training advice here I'm afraid. With ds1 I stuck my head in the sand waited until he was more than ready, told him every day for a couple of weeks we'd start it as soon as we got back from holiday and he did it without any problems. He was 3.1 though. I've got the Gina Ford book and might try and get ds2 trained over the summer but am not going to stress about it.

eandz · 07/06/2011 15:10

I love the idea of sticking my head in the sand.

So Ladies, I've just signed up for the WhizzKids Neon Night Walk in London on July 1st. If anyone would like to help sponsor me+donate I need to raise £250 to do the walk.

Becaroooo · 07/06/2011 18:02

Can you do a link eandz???

notcitrus · 07/06/2011 22:01

Relieved to hear A isn't the only anti-potty child here! Nursery were convinced he was ready. Two weeks later they were saying "been doing this for years, potty trained dozens of children - never met a child like A before"
He's excited by the potty, loves sitting on it, likes pants - but wants a nappy to wee into. You can see him tensing his legs to not wee while he's on the potty. Despite telling me how if he wees in the potty he will get a traffic cake (which usually works as a bribe).

Currently he's wearing pullups at nursery and we sit him on the potty a few times a day and not trying pants/no nappy again for a month or so. He's at least learning how to pull trousers/pullup up and down, with some help still. I suspect he's being a perfectionist and won't try toileting until he knows he can do it, but mainly he doesn't see the point. Autistic auntie sees this as an encouraging sign that he may be on the autistic spectrum after all, given that generally he seems neurotypical just geeky (huge crossover of symptoms between deaf and ASD people, so many of my geek friends have ASD diagnoses).

Holiday on Friday! Can't wait! Thought about going abroad but figured IoW is so easy to get to (3 hours door to door by train) so we're doing that again. Hope sea won't be scary this time.

eandz · 08/06/2011 10:31

Yes, I can Link!

neon night walk charity thing I'm doing

eandz · 08/06/2011 14:29

if any of you want to do the walk too, join team 'Robyn' it's the team i'll be on.

Kagey · 08/06/2011 20:15

That's brilliant eandz, how do we sponsor? I wanted to do the Blackheath race for life, but we are on holiday. However I am going to register for the night walk on 1st Oct instead.

Lolly I hope your DS is better now, and your nephew too Bec.

DD2 is now 10 weeks old, the weeks are flying by :).

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/06/2011 20:54

Wow your DD2 is 10 weeks old and fanny's DS turns 1 this week! And I only have 10 weeks to go
Had the worst potty training day today, and the worst behaviour I've seen out my kids in a long time, and it lasted all day.
This evening we went to the new parents meeting at DD's school, there's so much I need to get sorted in terms of uniform and PE kit and labels etc, its all a bit overwhelming given that I need to get it done in the next 8 weeks .

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/06/2011 22:35

10 weeks to go carrie - blimey!!! That went quick. Mind you, I'm 17 weeks on Sunday and we go to Florida a week on Sat!!
Feeling baby move loads, far more than I ever did with C. Baby is a real wriggler, took mw ages to find hb!

C's nursery received such an outstanding Estyn (Welsh version of Ofsted) report, it's been asked to case study its policies for guidance to other nurseries in Wales. Now my dilemma is whether to keep her there till school or send her to school nursery, as they have far more facilities than a school would (eg they get to use the college gym for weekly gymtots, which are like tumbletots and free!, plus they have their own section of the college library so they can borrow books to take home.). Decisions....

Carrie I meant to ask - you use a groclock (I think - is that the right name?). C's started getting up at 6am again and we'd like to use one. What do you tell them about emergencies or if they feel ill? Eg if we say she can't get up till the sun comes out on her clock but then she feels ill or has a bad dream, I'd hate to think of her not sure if she can come in to tell us.
But then, if we say she can if she's ill, I have a feeling every morning she'll feel 'ill'.

eandz · 08/06/2011 23:48

Kagey

congratulations btw!

I have no idea how to get anyone to sponsor me. I have to wait to hear back. I'll probably make a shirt tomorrow and wear it around in the mornings while I'm doing the nursery drop off+morning run.

DebiTheScot · 09/06/2011 11:47

I was in the middle of writing big post and my screen just refreshed itself and it vanished! I'm at work, maybe someone is spying on me!

Carrie school uniform shopping is a nightmare. You can't get it too early in case they grow but if you leave it too late there?s nothing left in the shops. I?m sure last year the M&S 3 for 2 offer ended right at the start of the holidays and they never got anything else in. I had a nightmare getting shorts.
Oh and I don?t think the M&S stuff is any better than the supermarket clothes.
And I've been really happy with the iron on labels I got.

I?m doing another triathlon in the middle of July and probably a 10k race at the start of July. Then I have also said I?d do a relay marathon on Sunday with my neighbour as some of his team have dropped out. It should only be 2.6 miles but I might have to do 2 legs.

Becaroooo · 09/06/2011 11:50

debi I agree wrt M&S school uniform. NEXT is the only place I can find Navy trousers and shorts for ds1 and they last AGES longer than his grey M&S ones ever did!

I tend to get his other things (polo shirts, PE shorts, joggers, etc) from ASDA.

triathlon ??

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/06/2011 13:40

I was planning to get the uniform from Tesco, poss spending our points - just need the usual grey pinafore, airtex shirts, navy sports shorts, grey tights etc. Then buy the school jumper from the suppliers.

mrsa we luuuuuurve the gro-clock. Our DCs tend to cry in their beds if there's a problem so we go to them, haven't had to have the chat of what constitutes an emergency. Sometimes they're up playing too early, so we go in and remind them that the moon is still up and tell them to go quietly back to bed. If there's only one star left by the moon then its within an hour of get-up time (which we have set as 7:20) so we let them play and they come and knock on our door when the sun comes up on the clock. I'm so knackered that I don't tend to hear anything til they come crashing in, I've no idea how long they've been up prior to that!

Meglet · 09/06/2011 16:58

MN still won't work on my phone, not sure why. I keep losing track of everything on here.

Meglet · 09/06/2011 17:06

oooo, Amy Chua answered my (not very intellectual) question during the Tiger Mother chat on Tuesday. Smile. I am attempting to channel Tiger Mother with my kids, and failing!

carrie I can't beleive you only have 10 weeks left.

lolly are you due around the same time we had our DC's last time?

eandz I will take a look at your sponsored walk link.
