Alas not me with a kindle, given that DH is a programmer we are woefully behind the times in terms of technology!
Day 2 of project potty and we had 4 hits and 3 misses. Still no sign that he knows when he's going to wee, but he's still happy to sit on the potty and if there's a wee there he's quick to do it and announce it to all the world which is good! I can see that poos are going to be a whole other issue...
bec that's great that you've got a holiday to look forward to at the end of the intensive therapy time!

Meglet · 31/05/2011 22:24

bookmarking.....

Nothing interesting to report in a 'no news is good news' type of way. I've been mainly tidying my bedroom / house and trying to get the dc's to behave.

I don't think I could use a Kindle. I'd only drop it on the floor or in the bath.

Becaroooo · 01/06/2011 08:47

My youngest nephew has badly broken his arm and is going to theatre this morning to have it wired up Sad

Poor little love.

Cant go and see him today either as we have Toms therapy and then are seeing dh's cousin who has flown over from Singapore. Sad

Roll on next week..........

Lollyheart · 01/06/2011 20:38

Oh no bec I hope your nephews op went ok and be makes a speedy recovery and toms therapy went ok.

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/06/2011 20:55

bec and some Wine and a packet of Biscuit

Becaroooo · 01/06/2011 20:57

Thanks carrieand lolly

He is ok but in a lot of pain. He is on oral morphine Sad He is only 6 Sad

Am going to go and see him tomorrow

Off to bed now...feel dog rough

xx

Debs75 · 02/06/2011 09:41

Poor boy becaroo when ds broke the growth plate in his ankle they gave him diamorphine up his nose, he wouldn't take oral medicines.
Thanks for the kindle advice am going to McDonalds to 'borrow' their wifi and get it registered.

went to the farm with Robyn and Lucy yesterday. Robyn thought all the animal were great and happily fed the goats, sheeps and cows. She also told everyone who we met what we were doing and who everyone was. She has no shyness around people and will happily play with other children. I just have to make sure she doesn't wander off and join other families

Becaroooo · 02/06/2011 11:27

debs Robyn sounds like Toby!!! Smile Never have to worry about ds1 going far from me Sad

dnephew doing ok...had a disrupted night due to pain, but much better than yesterday afternoon. He has to have an x ray next week - if the wires arent holding the surgeon will have to go back in and re-do the op Sad

Dh's couins is getting married (to a malaysian girl) in Bali next summer....we have been asked to go (his cousin is Tobys godfather) and dh is now talking about a roudn the world trip Shock Hmm

14 hour flights with 2 dc??? Yeah, ok, dh. You first. Grin

DebiTheScot · 02/06/2011 21:25

Bec that sounds amazing but also very stressful! 12 hours on a train (was meant to be 8) was bad enough. Mind you we are planning to go to NZ next Easter.
Came back home today, a much less stressful journey. The boys were brilliant, they were calm, quiet and well behaved all the way back. DS2 fell asleep cozying into me which was very cute until my arm went numb!

Becaroooo · 03/06/2011 16:58

Can I have a moan please????

Having such a shitty week...ds1's therapy is taking its toll on all of us (except him it would seem!), my nephew has had a nasty accident, I have a chest infection/viral thing and feel dreadful, Toby is tantruming daily and dh seems on another planet atm.

Am sooo tired....have only cat napped now for the past 4 nights due to snot/coughing/fever/headache. Ds1 was supposed to be going to swimming lesson tonight and I have texted them and said he isnt going...I just havent got the energy to get into the car again today Sad

House is a tip, ironing pile taken over the hallway and I am discovering that moving house is a pita...so much paperwork, forms to fill in and phoncalls to take...arrghh.

(dnephew is home btw, and his pain is more managable now...has to have an x ray next week to make sure the wires are in the right place - or else ita another op for him poor love. He is being very brave though)

Truly truly fed up.

Sorry.

Will go away now.

Checking in from hospital, Fraser has had a nasty fall and a bump to the head.

We was at moors valley park, he fell off something and landed on his head, because he was being sick the park wardens called an ambulance, we have been here since 7, looks like it's for the night, Sad I'm sooo tired and haven't eaten. He is ok now but want they to keep an eye on him.

Meglet · 03/06/2011 23:23

oh lolly Sad. I wish I could bring you a food parcel, just saw your FB and you're not in town. What an end to a day out. Is your DH back at home with the other dc's?

Hope your DS is ok and back to normal in the morning.

Lollyheart · 04/06/2011 00:52

Yay we can go home, my other dcs are with my friend who we went with today, dh is on his way to pick us up unfortunately he is an hour away. Im so looking forward to sleep.

ninja · 04/06/2011 22:33

Thanks Bec I'm fine, H being a bit demanding and whenever I try and go along with his demands there's another one. Still things are moving on, got the extra mortgage agreed, Mum and Dad are lending me some money, taken money out of savings so should be able to buy him out soon Sad but also a bit Grin that this horrible stage'll be over soon. Meant to be telling the kids on holiday in the summer, not sure if that's a good or bad idea (both holiday and telling DD1 there)

Just had a few days on my own as H took the kids to see the inlaws. I was working half the time but also managed to decorate M's new room and put up her new bed. She's really excited about both but unfortunately after having her stories in the bed has decided it's too scary for the last 2 nights and so now is back in the cot Hmm. May try moving the cot into the new room tomorrow as a temporary measure.

Debs I want a kindle Envy

DebiTheScot · 04/06/2011 23:06

Moan away Bec, if it helps we don't mind listening. It does sound like you're having a horrible time of it at the moment. Is ds1's therapy nearly done now?

Poor you lolly, sounds very scary, lucky you were with a friend.

Poor you too ninja. Obviously I have no idea what's the best way to tell the girls but I'd maybe be concerned that telling her on holiday would mean in the future she'd look back on the holiday as a bad time and not remember the good bits of it.

Becaroooo · 05/06/2011 07:00

ninja Thanks for getting back to us...I have been worried about you!! Hope things get better once H is out of the house...it must be like walking on egghshells all the time atm Sad

Thanks debi Still feel dreadful...where is all the snot coming from????

Dnephew ended up back in a&e yesterday but they just needed to change his bandages in the end

So much going on this week...dont know whether I'm coming or going...ds1 back at school tomorrow, visiting dnephew, getting ready for surveyor coming round, cleaning, washing, ironing ready for hols, shopping and ds1's birthday lunch and then....packing!

Ugh.

FannyPriceless · 05/06/2011 13:49

Hello, I lost you there for a while (againBlush).

So busy here. We have just had an offer accepted on a house. Only it's an ex farm worker's cottage which has been rented out for the last 60 years, is absolutely tiny, and has a downstairs bathroom.Confused I will be hiring carrie to project manage the extension when if we ever get enough money to do it!

mrsa The part time job I mentioned is a bit... well I'm not sure what your reaction is going to be. I am working two afternoons a week in the village shop. Yes I know, it doesn't even cover the nursery fees. But I am enjoying it, chatting to people for six hours is helping me get over the PND, and it's hopefully giving me the confidence to eventually apply for a proper job (to pay for the new house extension!)

We are finally potty training DD. So far she has 3 and a half stars on her chart. The half star was for when she nearly made it in time... It's going well so far except she hasn't done any poo for over a day and seems a bit confused about what to do when 'a poo is coming'.Confused

And can you believe DS is one this week? How time flies...

Love to you all and thinking of you ninj.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 05/06/2011 19:40

I've been a bit of a stranger but have been lurking.
So busy atm, though nowt really to report, SSDD.

I'm 16 wks now and look like I'm 6months! C is getting a bit better with her behaviour and the throwing is less frequent but she is trying to drop her daytime nap, which = tired, frazzled wingey child come 4pm. But unless she naps before lunch, she is not tired anough by bedtime if she's had a nap.

ninja I don't really have anything to help you but just stay strong and try to be positive. When DP left his ex, they agreed not to tell DSD until after xmas so she didn't have bad memories of xmas. But it's never going to be a good time.

FP fab news about job. Doesn't matter what it is, it's a break!
And we had some trouble getting C to poo when she came out of nappies. We ended up singing to the poo to get it out! She's fine now, been out of nappies since Dec and a real bonus is she used to be a once every few days girl but now she's almost once a day in the loo!

Off to Florida a wk on Saturday, yay!! Can't wait, despite the high temps (34) and 9hr flight!!

ninja · 05/06/2011 21:33

MrsA my sister is about the same and equally big. You definitely get bigger faster second time, but I have to say that I ended up smaller at the end.

Just been to see a 5 day old Grin it was a VBAC and so my friend was feeling a lot better than last time. DD1 and M were embarrasing bad tempered when were there though I almost wished that I hadn't gone Blush

FP sounds fab - I work a lot alone and the idea of a job where I could natter sounds like good therapy.

Debs75 · 06/06/2011 11:19

Well if I had come on on Thursday i would of been boasting about how Robyn had taken to potty training like a duck to water. she had just decided to take her nappy off and she did 3 wees in her potty and 2 on the toiletGrin
On Friday she weed on the floor 4 times and pooed on the floor onceSad
It is all a bit hit and miss, she wants the nappy off but won't use they potty now so we are trekking upstairs every 20 mins. DP doesn't like the mess so is keener to put a nappy on her then I am. It's only wee and we don't have carpets so a few accidents doesn't matter.

FannyPriceless · 06/06/2011 11:36

debs I sympathise. We are in a very nice rented house with fitted carpets though.Confused

Yesterday we had:
DD: I've got a wee wee coming
Me: Would you like to sit on the potty?
DD: No thank you.

Then she happily weed herself and didn't care! I had to convince her to let me change her into dry pants!

Maybe I need to read a book on how to do this properly or something. Could somebody give me the basics please? Potty training for beginners?

Oh, and MrP and I agreed we would do a sticker chart with a reward at the end. Only I left him to buy the stickers etc and he got some plain card and very boring little single colour stickers. I'm wondering whether this is not exciting enough given that she has more exciting stickers in her CBeebies magazine anyway? Tips please.

ninja · 06/06/2011 13:34

my only advice is to wait until they're asking to be potty trained, sorry. My 2 both asked to go into knickers and it was very straightforward.

That's really not much help is it. DD1 did do a sticker chart for M, but I think that she was too young to really understand it. Oh yes I do have a tip, (but you might not like it) a chocolate button/small sweet for every wee in the potty - this definitely helped Grin

Becaroooo · 06/06/2011 13:36

Stickers have never worked for my 2...they just look at me with a sort of pity and shrug as if to say "really? Is that it!??"

Toby no where near ready and tbh with 2 hols coming up its easier to keep him in nappies til summer anyway Blush

At least during the school summer hols we wont be going anywhere so he can just run round in the nuddy! Smile

CappuccinoCarrie · 06/06/2011 14:12

Hello everyone! We've just had a great weekend away in a caravan with some old friends, but its nice to be home and know that we're not going away again until October, there's been far too much too-ing and fro-ing round here lately what with DH's work trips and going to weddings etc, so its a relief to stay put.

fanny your job sounds ace and exactly the sort of thing I would look for if I ever went back to work! We were really lucky that our builder project managed our extension, we could have paid our architect to do it, and one of our friends swears that paying a prof PM saved them more than he cost them (which is about 10% of the cost of the extension)

bec I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time, really hope you feel better soon. Has the therapy been worth the time and energy for your DS? I really hope so.

Potty....well the GF book is great, although that said, neither of my kids have got it in a week at all, but it guides you through preparing them, and how to progress through the first few days. She says not to do a sweet for each wee, but tbh we've ignored that as it motivates my kids! I think I'm going to do a sticker chart for DS where every third box is a star, and he gets a sweet on a star. WHSmiths have had some great 'motivation stickers' in a 3 for 2 deal recently. DS is still really keen to wear pants, very happy to sit on the potty, can wee on demand if there's something there....but there is no progress whatsoever towards knowing that he's going to wee and getting there on time. DD was a nightmare for 2 years as she'd wee in her pants and not tell us, whereas at least DS says "there's a wee coming!!" but by that point its already too late which is a nightmare if we're out. He wore 'caravan pants' all weekend, and he's going to have to wear them to gym club on Wed because I really can't risk wee in the ball pool....can you imagine Blush. I really don't know whether to give up and try again in July...or is that too close to baby coming in August? Then I'll end up not doing it til October...oh what to do...
