Congrats iltmimi!! And welcome to Ike!Smile

ninja · 28/04/2011 22:58

Congratulations ILTMIMI that's fantastic news and a lovely name [cgrin]

Now we need a birth story ......

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 29/04/2011 08:56

Oh ILTMIMI HUGE congrats! I'm in awe at Ike's weight - well done you. I would love to hear the birth story and I'm so glad you got your home birth.

I'm still insisting on a home birth here, despite the cheek sucking by the consultants. I am only 11 weeks though so I suspect the pressure will pile on as I get further along.

Debs CP sounds lovely but is soooo expensive. I've had my feet nibbled by fish in the Trafford Centre and it's wonderful (if a bit strange)

And there's no royal wedding watching here. i do love a good party and wedding but C would not sit still, plus it's a chance to bugger off to the zoo for a family day out and a picnic. We'll watch the highlights tonight.

Big weekend coming up too - telling all the families tomorrow that we're pg. Am a bit anxious how DP's daughter will take it. She is 21 and married but quite 'young' in her outlook. When we told her about C, she cried [chmm]

Quick question - how many of you have LOs who try to get themselves dressed. C still refuses to dress herself or undress herself, though she is capable of getting things on and off. It's our main 'ishoo' atm - mornings and evenings often turn into a battle to get her dressed or undressed. We've tried everything - races against the clock, stern words, encouragement and ultimately DP holds her whilst I get her dressed as we have to be out of the house.
Any thoughts or will she just grow out of it?

CappuccinoCarrie · 29/04/2011 09:19

Wow HUGE congratulations ILTMIMI (huge being the word I see....wow, well done you!) Sooooooooooo excited for you all :) :) :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 29/04/2011 09:20

Just wondering how hopefully is getting on with two as well...?

And DG I've been thinking about you too, hope you're ok

Meglet · 29/04/2011 09:35

Congrats ILTMIMI. It must be nice to be able to flop on your own bed after having a home birth.

I have hidden myself in the bedroom to watch the wedding with a cup of tea and the DC's are watching cbeebies downstairs Hmm. I couldn't bear the whinging for octonauts anymore.

Debs75 · 29/04/2011 14:10

well done ILTMIMI that is a big weight, well done on doing it at home.

Well I watched bits of the wedding, I assume some of you have as it is so quiet. Loved her dress, thought it was really elegant and not too frothy which some royal frocks can be. Wills looked good all suited up as well.Like the smilleys[csmile]

Kagey · 29/04/2011 21:54

Congrats ILTMIMI - glad your home birth went well!

I watched bits of the wedding, whilst making fairy cakes for a royal tea party at relations in the afternoon. Kate's dress was gorgeous and DD1 kept pointing at the tv saying 'princess', however DD1 was wearing her rapunzel dress and homemade tiara so looked more of a princess [cwink]. Had a great time and DD1 run around with cousins and DD2 snuggled up to lots of adults.

Meglet · 29/04/2011 22:10

One word for you all = Teething Sad. DD is the whingiest, dribbliest little thing at the moment. One back molar has come through and the other three are breaking through, I hope it will only be another couple of weeks before it's all over -for ever! I'm not sure my nerves can handle any more teeth brushing attempts at the moment.

I did manage to watch almost all of the wedding, the DC's were reasonably quiet with cbeebies. I think I'm wedding-ed out now!

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/05/2011 14:58

meglet I feel your pain, DS has just got his final molar and what a nightmare of disgusting nappies that was.

In laws just left so I'm on my own now til Friday, but feeling surprisingly peaceful about it. Going to spend our bank holiday in Asda and Range (oh yes I know how to live) then pottering in the garden. Will have lunch out I think; Asda's kids lunch boxes might not be very nutritious, but they're cheap and most importantly I don't have to make them.

DebiTheScot · 01/05/2011 21:33

You've obviously all been out having fun all weekend, it's been very quiet.
I'm jealous of your asda having a decent cafe Carrie, ours only does coffee and bacon rolls.

I think ds2 has all his molars but I'm not about to stick my fingers in his throat to check!

We've had another great weekend here. With a good holiday, a nice but not too exciting 2nd week of school holidays, an action packed easter weekend with farm park, sailing & a birthday, a 2 day week, and a 3 day 30th birthday weekend I think it was the best April ever!
I stretched my birthday out for 3 days which was good fun. Friday- wedding watching, lunch out, massage & facial (thanks s-i-l), champagne, takeaway.
Saturday- day out with knights and jousting and sunshine at Blenheim Palace then rugby (less said about that the better)
Sunday- picnic in the park with 20 friends plus kids. Had a really nice afternoon apart from a horrible rounders injury that will hurt in the pool tomorrow.

Meglet · 02/05/2011 09:31

Good luck today debi!

Debs75 · 02/05/2011 13:23

that sounds like a great birthday weekend debi my birthday is always rushed as it is 5 days before christmas. I think I will book a weekend in the summer I turn 40 and have a big party and a ME weekend. It beats buying last minute christmas presents.

We have decided to potty train Robyn on wednesday. The other 2 are back at school so I can focus on her. she is in size 6 nappies and they are so expensive. I'm not sure about letting her try at nursery yet I think I will see how she goes next week.

carrie our asda do great breakfasts and lovely cakes. Robyn and Lucy like scrambled egg on toast when we go shopping

Kagey · 02/05/2011 13:46

Best of luck with potty training!! I was aiming to potty train Erin in April, but the month flew past too quickly. Hopefully this month :)

Happy belated birthday Debi. My 30th seems a long time ago (year before DD1 born) and was very drunken Blush .

CappuccinoCarrie · 02/05/2011 14:48

debi that sounds like an awesome weekend, well celebrated! I love the idea of the big picnic in the park. And well done on the triathlon thingy (official term Wink)
debs you def deserve a summer party :)

Asda lunch was great - DS had one of the lunchboxes with activity book, crayons, and more food than he could eat for £2.25. I had a nice sit down. SPD really properly back now, despite how careful I've been :(

Asda has a baby event on now, I got 136 nappies for £20 (size 6s for DD overnight) and boxes of 6 packets J&J wipes are £5. There's no own-brand wipe that will get DS clean if he's had branflakes for breakfast Blush.

I bought a washing line this morning, now need DH to come back and fit it! He's continued to surprise me from Mexico by revealing the whereabouts of more chocolates and treats hidden round the house, what a star! I'm just no good at thinking of thoughtful things like that.

DebiTheScot · 02/05/2011 16:48

I did it! Had hoped for 1hr 45mins but wasn't massively confident about that. So I'm over the moon at getting 1hr 31!!!
It was brilliant apart from the swim which I found really hard. The bike was amazing and the run was good but hard as all off road.
I was on such a high when I finished.

ninja · 02/05/2011 17:10

Congratulations Debi that's amazing!! I'm sooo impressed - what a great end to the weekend Grin

DebiTheScot · 03/05/2011 18:56

MN has made me too judgey. A 'friend' (as in I went to school with her & have seen her about 4 times since & am fb friend) has weaned her baby at 3 months!!!! I'm trying not to comment!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 04/05/2011 09:36

Debi that's amazing (your triathalon I mean) and weaning at 3m :(
I'm reading a book about nursing in the 1950s in Leeds. When babies came in with diarrhoea they would make up milk powder in tea to help them Shock. Lots of comments about 8w olds getting milky tea!!

Good luck with the potty training Debs. (I'm 40 next yr gulp - not sure Raymond Blanc's place will be possible now).

Carrie I'm jealous - Our Asda only has a macdonalds and C not had one of those yet Grin
Although we do have a Morrisons, which does lovely teas and kids eat free when an adult buys a meal.

Those with older kids, when do you try to bring them out of nighttime nappies? DD has been toilet trained for about 6m but her nappies are still heavy in the night and she is a big water drinker before bed and during the night. She's still in size 4 nappies bless her.

Oh and told MIL about pg at w'end. She was very shocked and said 'I'm too old to have this one you know'. She has C for 2 days a week and they have a lovely bond. We based ttc on the baby going FT to nursery but secretly hoped MIL might have it one day a week once C at school. Never mind, just now have to worry myself sick about a baby in FT nursery and lack of 1-1 care!

Debs75 · 04/05/2011 11:19

MRSA how have you managed to resist the temptation of mcdonaldsShock? Seriously good for you, Robyn has McD's once a fortnight but she only really likes the chips tp dip in the sauce. She prefers proper food and loves Morrisons.
C must be tiny to still fit in size 4 nappies. I have just put Robyn in size 6's but she does fit in 5 and 1/2's. with DD1 we found that if she had a nappy on in bed then she woke up a bit later and it was really heavy. If she didn't then she woke up a bit early and went to the loo, we think if she knew she had a nappy on so would have the morning wee in the nappy. I think you just have to try her one night and be ready with a few spare sheets and covers in case of accidents.

Robyn is back at nurseryGrin she was really happy to go and waved us off, she did want to the dog to go into nursery but was content to wave at her through the fence. It is really quiet today as it just me, dp and Lucy and she is asleep.

Becaroooo · 04/05/2011 13:44

Hello all

Nothing to report, just lots of sneezing, and itchy eyes....

x

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/05/2011 13:50

DS is still in size 4s too, he has the world's smallest bottom, I don't think any trousers will stay up once we eventually put him in pants!
My DCs had a McDonalds last year but I was cruel clever and didn't tell them where we were, so they don't know to ask for it again, mwa ha ha! I love McDs, all this talk is making me want one!

My 4yo DD is still in nappies over night, some nights wetter than others but nowhere near dry. Apparently its a hormone they need to develop which both gets the kidneys to reabsorb water overnight, and that triggers the thing in the brain that wakes you when you need a wee. My DD clearly has neither, and I don't think you can train them overnight in the way you can in the day. And frankly I have enough laundry to do right now anyway!

DebiTheScot · 04/05/2011 14:11

Ds2 is in size 5s which is really annoying as he doesn't actually wee much but poos leak out of 4+s.

DS1 has just turned 5 and is in size 6+ nappies at night. Tht's also really annoying as you can only get them in Asda. I am not putting him in dry nights or whatever they are called though as they cost a fortune. Carrie is right about the hormone thing. You can't train them to be dry at night.

Mine have had quite a few McDs too (way more than I'd have said I would give my children before I had them). Sometimes it is just the best option if you are out, they need to eat, it needs to be quick and it needs to be cheap.
In fact last week we had McDs after we went sailing on Monday (it was 7pm, they hadn't eaten and we had an hrs drive home), Dominos pizza at ds1's party on Tuesday and then on Thursday the childminder took ds2 to McDs and he had half a happy meal! Blush That was a 1 off week though and the childminder felt bad when she realised he's been a few days before.

I like Morrison's meals too. They're good and good value. Still not exactly healthy though!

DebiTheScot · 04/05/2011 14:11

(Morrison's cafe meals)

Lollyheart · 04/05/2011 17:12

F is also in size 4 nappies at night, I started potty training him at the start of the Easter holidays,he got it from day one Smile he has had a few dry nappies at night as well but has the odd wet one, ds2 still has a nappy on at night, he will be 5 in oct, it's really common for kids to still have wet nights, a few of my friends dcs the same age as dd who are nearly 7 are still not dry at night.

I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow, Smile
