Pls to tell me where/how I can divorce MIL. Was insulted again today. Something along the lines of well "HI brings home the money". You know cos I do nothing all day just raising his child. If it wasn't a special ocassion and it wasn't a public place I would have told her where to go and it wouldn't have been polite. I shan't be taking her up on aby babysitting offers. Oh, forgive me, there aren't any!!!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 27/02/2011 19:16

What a cow, Silvia. Shall I round up the posse?

CUNextTuesday · 27/02/2011 20:27

Can you not text her and tell her how much her comment upset you? Or perhaps HI can do it?? Don't let her get away with that - you don't have to be rude, just forthright. If you piss her off well so what? Tit for tat...

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 27/02/2011 20:34

And if it's any consolation sliver, not only do I get no babbysitting offers from mine, I get no phone calls or offers to come round or invites to hers (she lives 4 miles away), or texts to see how he is. Of course her other grandchildren live across the road from her and see her all the time so you can see how she wouldn't want to bother her arse with Rastus.

My mum comes to see him more regularly than MIL and she lives 250 miles away.

What a silly old bag Silver - try to ignore her, she's not worth stressing about.

Am ver jealous of the girlies out on the razzle-dazzle but was very lucky to be treated to fabulous slap-up meal chez Boxer last night - she is genuis cook that girl and tru-friend. Top FESH Grin

Even more Envy at talk of pony-riding. Stitches are starting to come away and am a bit Confused at how it's all looking down there so will get the MW to take a look tomorrow just to check all's OK. Fingers crossed I'm on track to be back in the saddle in 2 weeks time.

Muse - sounds like you're having similar nights to me. BabyChick has pretty much slept all day so does not bode well for tonight. Ho hum.

Anyone watching Toughest Place to be a Midwife??? Shock

PollyPoo · 27/02/2011 21:39

?cunty? just popping in to wish you good luck for tomorrow - I hope work goes well and Rastus is a happy chap at nursery.

CUNextTuesday · 27/02/2011 21:43

Thanks pol - got a day's grace tomorrow, but back on Tuesday, after a leisurely trip to the renal clinic which could, you know, take all morning Grin

AlpinePony · 27/02/2011 21:43

Yes, sorry cunty - I did wonder today if you were still going back tomorrow. I hope it all goes well and you love being a "real" person again. Wink

I hope it all goes well, Rastus is a dream and your bicycle is fun! Be careful though.

CUNextTuesday · 27/02/2011 22:05

I will be less like a real person and more like one of yer actual zombies i reckon. Especially if i can't crack the night time waking to feed thing. I wonder if the kidney doctor will sign me off for 6 months if i show him some kindness ask nicely?

Stop looking Cluck! Stitches coming away mean nothing - they took the single stitch out of my CS wound after only 7 days. I was convinced my guts were going to drop out! Anything that needs holding together down below will be knitted together by now, but there will most likely still be lots of swelling. It took mine about 2 and a half weeks to go down, and I was completely disbelieving that I would be able to get back on a horse within weeks. As you know I was back on in 5 weeks. Zippy mare will look after you just fine, I am sure.

I took baby horse out for a lesson today and the instructor sang his praises for the whole lesson. Cluck, instructor was scary lady who is the physio's mother.

BTW, just off to get myself a bowl of pudding leftovers from last night. Yumyumyum!

Silv MILs! Pah. They are sent to test us. I wouldn't even ask mine to look after my kids unattended. I'm not going to elaborate on why.

Muse I don't want to alarm you, as some lovely svelte mothers DO fit back into their pre-mat wear in a couple of months. For me I would say it was a good year last time before I fitted into my pre-mat clothes, so I looked like a frump for months whilst waiting for the breast-feeding to shrink me. This time I have embraced the temporarily lardy me and bought a capsule dumpy wardrobe of stretchy-waisted leggings and tunics-that-cover-my-bum so I can at least feel comfy in my clothes. It's another excuse to spend cash! You deserve it. I am also very fond of my long thin scarves. They cover up any flashing that may be going on, and LG seems to love stuffing them in his mouth.

Alps and other bath-bods. I must have big babies or a small bath - they get wedged in it around about the 5th or 6th week. LG is in the big bath now, without a seat. He loves it! We did put him in a seat but he kept getting a bit carried away and flipping the seat over backwards!

CluckyKate · 28/02/2011 04:04

Can't help it Box...there appears to be an extra hole Confused but is a little difficult to see hence am unsure [gulp]

Anyone else awake at this godforsaken hour???

We never bothered with a baby bath either. Couldn't figure out how to fill and empty the thing without breaking my back. SIL used the babybath in the big bath Confused. We did get a cheapy bath seat from MC but LC never liked it so most baths in the early days were taken with Daddy.
Thinking we ought to give this little fella his first bath soon

SilverSky · 28/02/2011 07:12

Thanks FESHs. Makes me feel loads better to know I am not the only one to suffer with MIL crap. Tues no point me blardy telling her she's a ride ignorant arse cos in the next breath she told is all that HI took after her and that he is a, and I quote, "dummy"!!!!! Nice. He was so insulted! So I said so all could hear "about time YOU got insulted". Well Rastus' granny is missing out cos he's a cool dude. I shall be petty restricting cuddling opportunities for my MIL whenever she holds him I just want him back.

My brain won't work and I can't remember any of the other comments/posts. Duh!!!!

AlpinePony · 28/02/2011 07:56

Well I stuck him in the big bath last night and it all went fine. The baby bath is good for putting on a table so it's not back breaking but that's the only real advantage. Note to FESHes - if the water is only 4" deep, don't turn on the jets unless you want your bathroom to look like the Trevi fountain! Shock Grin He had fun with his ducks anyway, chewing them mostly.

We have a top tooth now which knackered him out over the weekend. Last day home for him as he starts creche tomorrow yay!

kate I'm sure the stitches are fine, I mean they're supposed to come away. You're not supposed to look like a crochet bag forever. You'll be back in the saddle in no time - but what about whacking on a sheepskin seatsaver for the first few times?

cunty What's going on with the feeding? We found that a carb heavy meal late night acted like amphetamines...

curly Loved the riding photos - actually, loved all your photos and it's made me feel very home sick. :( At least I'll see mountains in a fortnight at my parents. Which is all a bit weird to say the very least as I've not been "home" since 1999 and I don't even know where they live these days - never been to the village. Shock

muse My weight was up and down all over the place at first, lost it all, then put it all back on, then up and down and finally now (8 months in) I feel much more in control of diet & exercise.

^ aided by the fact that having managed to unpack all my clothes which had been packed away and forgotten about for the last 15 months I found 4 pairs of labels-attached trousers & jeans - and a whole array of other beautiful clothes which I simply don't fit in to right now. Still, will save myself a bloody fortune when I can!

silv Your MIL sounds like an absolute cow. Mine is lovely but I'm sure if she were closer she'd get right on my tits. reggie tells me that you two are meeting up - yay! I hope the cake is good.

CUNextTuesday · 28/02/2011 08:34

alps carb heavy makes no difference, crawling all day makes no difference just gets crotchety earlier. He is just in a nasty 3-4 hour waking cycle that i can't break. Quick sleep occurs if i feed him so of course that's what i do

Dreading going back to work tomorrow. It's like i'm only just getting to know the little chap and now i won't see him all day Sad

cu I go back in a month and feel exactly the same :(

Muser · 28/02/2011 11:09

Who was it who had a BooB top? What are the sizes on them like? I am a 14 but these boobs are massive so wondering if I should get a 16.

milanomum · 28/02/2011 12:04

'Lo. Just popping in from the deli to ask about buggy boards if you don't mind. I have a 2.5 yr old and 2nd is due in early August and I was just wondering if they are as uncomfortable to push around as I imagine. I just can't work out how you can push them around a) without tripping over the bloody thing or walking like a geisha and, b)without using some kind of handle extension so you don't end up with a hump. Anyone wish to defend them?

Cunty how old is he? I remember a really difficult phase around 9-10 months where everything was just really hard work. I read that it can be something to do with the approach of a big step like walking or first words or something and they just get all unsettled. Unfortunately I think ours lasted about 2 months Confused. Don't want to scare you but minimilano didn't actually sleep all night until 18 months and had stopped BFing well before that so it wasn't about the feeding.

Cosmosis · 28/02/2011 12:34

I have a boob top, i think just my normal size, but then my boobs are not humungous.

OkieCokie · 28/02/2011 12:59

Muse I haz 4 (yup count em) BOOB tops and went for medium and I am a size 14 with ample boobs. I have this one and as it is gathered/ruched then it helps disguise the flab/jelly belly a little bit.

Cunty try givng protein rich lunch instead of for dinner and see if that helps. Also, cut back on the fruit at tea time too as stiring due to needing a poo in the night can be due to muchos fruit munching at tea time. I know how you feel about the returning to work thing. I feel for you because it is awful. However, it does get easier.

Milan I went for a double pram option instead of buggy board. I figured if I needed to get anywhere in a rush then buggy board could be a disaster. Apparently buggy boards are better once your pram is in buggy mode rather than in carry cot mode IYSWIM.

OkieCokie · 28/02/2011 13:01

FP one for us

AlpinePony · 28/02/2011 13:16

I must be a right old heartless bitch then because I've LOVED being back at work! Grin

Cosmosis · 28/02/2011 13:33

We knew that already aplie Wink

I'm sure I'll be fine when I get there, it's just the idea of it - and the sheer hard work of getting us all out of the door etc. And someone else spending more time with him than me :(

OkieCokie · 28/02/2011 13:35

I think it makes a difference when you go back Alps. Weirdly, I think the younger they are when you go back to work the easier it is. I went back back when mini Oke was 10 months and he was so much more aware and responsive which made me feel far more guilty, he wailed when I dropped him off as he knew I was leaving him and that hurt. Once I realised he was fine and he was enjoying nursery I felt less guilty about leaving him I then started to enjoy my work again. I enjoyed being able to go to the loo in my own time, go out and buy lunch without it being a bit of an operation etc

milanomum · 28/02/2011 14:15

Thanks OK

Alps me too. Went back PT and loved it.

SilverSky · 28/02/2011 19:04

pony yip, Reggie and I are coordinating our rendez-vous!

I stoopidly washed MBs sleeping bag and it's not bleeding dry. Arses! It's on a radiator on full blast in the hope that it dries. I did spend ten mins earlier with the hairdryer on it. Really really need to buy another one !!!!!!!! Bollox bollox bollox!!!!!

okie I think what you say is true. Dreading leaving MB. Actually feel sick. Which is silly. He'll have a great time. I'll get used to it. No doubt my job will be so bleeding busy that I will be distracted. Or I'll hate being there. Well I do already so that won't change.
