FriggFRIGG · 27/02/2011 08:43

thats so awful watersprite i remember it well,Arlo is genrally good, but DD was really hard work,i can tell you for certain that it will end.
and untill then my advice would be to buy a sling, and an electronic swing, like this it really helped with DD to be able to put her down sometimes, without her screaming, and it even got her to sleep !i still have ours,if you'd like it,let me know.it's going cheapSmile

also, does she throw up a lot? and scream when you put her on her back? because if it's reflux, there are things you can do to aliviate the symptoms.
HTH

FriggFRIGG · 27/02/2011 08:50

oh and Arlo still topples over when sitting, but can now officially crawl! this morning,i put him on his mat and went to get DD's clothes from upstairs, when i came back,he was on the other side of the room,EATING DD'S BREAKFAST!!!
he was stuffing hot cross bun in his mouth so fast,i had to pull a load out,but he'd already eaten about half!!Blush Grin

cinnamon please reasure me,because there was cashew nut butter on the bun,and im freaking out a bit that he's going to have a massive reaction to it any minute!!! Shock Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2011 09:18

I felt like that when I gave Luke the peanut butter friggFRIGG, but he loved and showed no sign of a reaction at all. If you believe the theory of the EAT study scientists then they are less likely react if introduced before 6 months but it has to be regular.

Luke sits for short periods lumpybananapuree but if he tries to gran something fall over immediately! Was looking at your photo last night on fb, mainly because I want those dungaree but I can't bring myself to spend that much on an outfit for a baby!!

Ended up sleeping in my nursing chair with Luke last night and my neck is very painful. He's very happy and chatty this morning though!

Debs75 · 27/02/2011 09:55

Lucy's eye is better, been squirting her with bm, but she has now caught dd2's and dp's cold. It's not hard to see why when we all share the same bed. Her temp is high, about 36-37 and she is whinging and off her feeds. I hope it doesn't go too far, DD2 was sick all yesterday evening.

saoirse86 · 27/02/2011 10:31

Debs I thought 36-37 degrees was normal for a baby Confused I hope everyone gets better soon. Maybe you should kick DP out and make him sleep on the sofa when he's ill, I'm sure he wouldn't mind! Grin

watersprite You must be having such an awful time. I haven't weaned Orlaith yet so don't know much about what to do with feeding but it does sound a bit late to have prridge at 9. Were you doing it hoping she'd be full so would sleep longer? Maybe you could shuffle meal times around a bit so she has tea at maybe 7ish and has time to digest it before bed, then just milk before bed. Or if it is that she's not having milk, give her fewer meals or less at each meal to maybe encourage her to drink more. As I said, I have no experience with this so have no idea how it all works really, just a suggestion, feel free to ignore me!
And always feel free to come on here and vent some frustration. We all like a good whinge! Grin

frigg Arlo is definitely going to be walking first! You're going to be applying for jobs in a few months to get a break from them Wink

Debs75 · 27/02/2011 10:38

Saoirse I thought it was normal but she is absolutely roasting hot. I do send DP onto the sofa when he is ill as there is no room for 4 in our bed.
Just googled and 37 is a low grade temp. 37.5-38 is moderate and anythinhg else(38 and above or 100 if you are on the other chart) is severe so I am maybe panicking a bit much. TBH my thermometer glows red if the are really hot so I should calm down

lumpybananapuree · 27/02/2011 11:14

Cinnamon I didn't buy them! They were a "new baby" pressie, my boys are usually decked out in primani & asda Grin!

Is anyone else ridiculously tired?? I know some of you obviously are because of sleepless nights but I'm just so tired all the time. Olly sleeps 6.30-5, feeds then goes back till 7. I go to bed between 9 & 10 so get a solid 7 hours then anothe 1 1/2 so its really not sleep deprivation. And no, I'm not pregnant again!

On the allergy reaction thing, reactions don't usually occur on the 1st go either! its usually 2nd or 3rd time!

JessemyParkson · 27/02/2011 13:57

This morning Mary grabbed my breakfast bagel off my plate and proceeded to smear butter over her face, my arm and up her nose before she found her mouth!

Then DH spoilt the moment a bit by grumbling about crumbs on the sheet (we were having a rare breakfast-in-bed moment). Didn't keep me down for long though - I was too pleased!

Also, Mary has started to bite when having her milk... it &^%* hurts! I squeal/say ow, and take her off, but she just grins at me before having a few more sucks and does it again! Hmm :o

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2011 14:22

Still Envy lumpybananapuree, I love them!!! I just bought some lovely bits for ds1 from a lady on the classified threads on mn.

Go Mary! I gave Luke a spoon with my porridge on it this morning and some of it made it into his mouth but he's just not really food orientated, still loves his milk.

We've had a lovely walk in the forest and were very lucky to get back a few minutes before HUGE hailstones started falling from the sky!!!

watersprite · 27/02/2011 14:47

Hi Ladies : )

Cinnamon no not at all sick of you all, I've just felt really down and when I'm like that i really find the right words to express myself really hard. I tend to bottle it all up which I shouldn't do.

Frigfrig thanks but I've got 2 diffrent eletronic swings. I have one in my bedroom and the other one i have she hates. The one in my bedroom swings side to side and front and back. This works for a short while. She sometimes manages to sleep up to 2 hrs in it.

The porriage at night i give to fill her up as she is going of formula which she started doing even before i weaned her, i do use her milk to make it up. I tried cutting out the porrige at night as i thought the same with the difficulty of digestion but when i have her sleep pattern became worse so i introduced it again. Also health visitor recommended having her meals 4 hrs between each other so she doesn't get hungry. I did have her meals spread out more but she wanted me to try and have them 4 hrs apart.

Maria-Ann will fall asleep easily during the day probable because she doesn't sleep at night that much but only on my lap, i've tried not letting her sleep as much in the day so she will sleep at night but this just makes her more crabby. I've also let her sleep during the day to see if that makes any difference at night. I think she does sleep better at night if i do this but still every night is different some worse than others. She is teething as well so that might have an effect.

The issue is the dummy, thinking of taking it off her all together as this is the main reason she wakes up at night. It will fall out and then she wants it back in so i end up putting it back in for the sake of piece and quite. I do think i need to be a bit stronger and just go for it. Thinking of trying the muslin for comfort as i know she likes holding the top of my jumper when she is on my lap. Can't remember who said about the muslin? my only quiry is my muslins are quite big so do i just cut it up so it doesn't end up covering her face?

Maria-Ann 22wks + 5

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2011 14:54

JodeyBogeyPicker suggested it first, I tried it with fantastic results! I just fold mine in half and in half again the same direction so it's long and thin. I then lay I next Tongue cheek and down his chest so he can grab it. Good luck!

watersprite · 27/02/2011 15:02

frigfrig she is never sick but does hate to lay down flat as she appears to be very restless. I've put her mattress on a bit of a slant so she's not lay flat but now she call roll over and is on the move at night. I'm always re-positioning her. She hasn't worked out how to roll from front to back yet. Smile

watersprite · 27/02/2011 15:08

Thanks cinnamongreyhound will try that :)

beaditAli · 27/02/2011 19:10

Frigfrig that's brilliant for Arlo! I bet it's lovely to watch him!
Jack is funny with his bum in the air and on his knees but i think he's some way off actual crawling yet. Also, can't sit but is brill at rolling over.

watersprite sending you hugs and sleepy vibes Smile

We FINALLY took him swimming today. He was so funny! Just like in the bath...... he's so indifferent it's like he's just laying there saying "yeah, this is water and it's a swimming pool with floaty stuff in it. So what!?" We dunked him twice and he didn't even splutter! Just an expressionless face! How dull of him! Wink
Bear just so you know..... Spen DO have baby changing... you have to walk past the first lot of stairs and down the second lot past the vending machines! Wink Grin

Love your seasidey pics cinnamon HOW much like you do your boys look!???!! Smile

Okikoki....... vino is calling my name from the kitchen.... clever bottle of wine! Wink

FriggFRIGG · 27/02/2011 19:16

it is very cute...Grin
also a bit sad,i was really hoping he'd be a little baby for a bit longerBlush
DD seems to be growing up so quick,it's all a bit bitter sweet Sad Smile

FriggFRIGG · 27/02/2011 19:26

thats funny about the swimming...i'll bet thats exactly how Arlo would react!

the first bath he ever had,DD was looking at him over the edge of the bath, she lent a bit to far and toppled head first into the bath Shock i abandoned poor Arlo Blush to heave DD out spluttering and screaching!

i turned back to retrieve Arlo, and he was laying there smiling at the ceiling...Hmm

lumpybananapuree · 27/02/2011 19:32

Beady send some of that vino here! I'm all out!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 27/02/2011 20:58

Watersprite so sorry you're Going through a difficult spell at the moment. I too can't advise on night sleeping as Harlyn has always been a good night sleeper. I always use the muslin though as he finds it a real comfort and associates it with sleep which is helping with day time naps. I too have a problem (not a major one) with the dummy. He normally stirs around 4:30-5am and I gave to put his dummy back in his mouth before he settles back down till 7ish. Im not brave enough to try and wean him off it yet though as I find it to be too damn good at settling him when he's tired. I'm hoping he will eventually be able to pop it back in himself.

saisore, I have ordered that super summer seat thing from
mothercare too so it should be arriving soon time this week.

I'm starting my new new new healthy eating and exercising regime tomorrow (this is the third one this year). I made a gorgeous low calorie butternut squash & red pepper soup the weekend so I'm thinking that soups are the way forward..for lunch anyway.

Hope u all had a great weekend x x

MammyG · 27/02/2011 21:00

Hi all
Hectic weekend my brother and his family are around as we had my dads anniversary mass and my sister came back from her travels. Spent the weekend cleaning, cooking and feeding people. Have discovered that if I want to be thin I need to work with food. The more I cooked and prepped the less I wanted to eat myself!
Phoebe doing well. Eating away goodo but cutting back on the bottles alright. She was never a major guzzler anyway. We have replaced 11am with some watered juice so she drinking a bit more at 3pm. My SIL brought down a big bag of clothes her dd has grown out of ...Im loving the dress up and she looks adorable!
Im so tired tho. Phoebe is sleeping well but with her in the room Im sleeping too lightly and hearing everything but Im really not ready to move her out at all! Also Im getting night sweats!! Bad ones - wet hair and change of top types. Anyone anything similar? PRob just my hormones need to settle down.

watersprite Gosh it so wearing - a form of torture really! I have at times had to go through hell nights with the others while they withdrew from something and all I can say is keep it in your head that its 3 or so nights for the all the nights of sleep you will get! It would be no harm to remove the dummy if she is that dependent on it. Phoebe still has hers but would not wake up looking for it or wake up if it fell out. I removed it from DS2 for those reasons. Also have you tried different formulas?

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2011 21:25

Better than screaming at the pool beaditAli, obviously going to be a chilled out little man! Everyone says ds1 looks like me but you are the first person to say Luke looks like me. Ds1 has my hair and eye colour but otherwise I can't see it at all and everyone says Luke looks like dh. Since I saw your comment I kept looking at the picture and to me there are no similarities, so strange!

Stopped sweating at night a while ago MammyG, so no help here!

How did Norwich treat you JodeyBogeyPicker? Hope you didn't miss Harlyn too much. I love soup but no-one else in my house will eat it, going to try to get Luke into it once he's enjoying food a bit more Grin

JodeyBogeyPicker · 27/02/2011 23:24

The gig was fantastic cinnamon. It went really well and we were just buzzing off the audience but as soon as I got off stage I just wanted to be home. I spent the rest of the evening talking about Harlyn and showing people photos & videos on my phone. I really really missed him
and was just craving to hold him Sad. I'm soooo glad I don't have to do this on a regular basis as most of our gigs are fairly local.

Now my DH has had two overnight responsibilities, he thinks he knows it all. When I got back, Harlyn was due a sleep and was a little grumpy. I was just walking round his nursery cuddling him and rocking him on my arms. DH said to me "it'll be ok to put him In his cot you know, he'll grizzle for a bit but will soon fall asleep". does he not realise that i know this already and was simply having a munchy cuddle of my baba who I hadn't seen for almost 24 hours??? Bless him. I came back to a house that looked like a bomb had hit it. Bottles, dirty bibs, clothes, dishes and spoons everywhere. The bath water from Harlyns Saturday night bath was also still in the tub! I think he now realises how much time looking after our little ban actually takes! He's exhausted! Grin

Right I'm shattered so I'm off to bed x

JodeyBogeyPicker · 27/02/2011 23:27

bab bloody typos!!! I'm sure there are a few more but too tired to check! Nighty night x

Debs75 · 28/02/2011 09:57

Watersprite I have found that Lucy sleeps better in the night if she has a good couple of naps during the day. She usually has a 3 hour nap and 2 30 min naps. She then sleeps from 10 till 7ish with a small wakeup at about 3.

She is still poorly, it is only a cold but she is lethargic and drops off to sleep often. She isn't drinking as much as she gets too hot then fusses and breaks off. She is flopped out in her bouncer and will want a nap soon.

MammyG Are you on any contraception? I got bad sweats when I was first on the implant

SeaChelles · 28/02/2011 10:28

Just a quick one: Do your LO's still wear scratch mits at night? (Olly has too or he rips his face off!) But he won't keep the frigging things on! EVERY time I go in he has pulled them off and his hands are like ice cubes! Any tips? You only seem to be able to get "one size fits all" scratch mits....evidently they dont! Plus now that he is going in to the 6-9 month size, they dont put built in ones on any more.... Hmm

I had something else I wanted to ask too....but cant remember what it was...never mind.

Cheers.

Olly 22+1

SeaChelles · 28/02/2011 10:30

I remembered!

Is there such thing as a 5 month growth spurt/sleep regression?! Ollys sleep has gone to shite! Angry Sad [tired]
