chelle, you beat me to it! I was going to say, saoirse, let them give her Easter eggs. She can have a play, roll them around, look at the shiney foil etc. Then when she goes to bed it's time for mummy and daddy to tidy them up Grin Grin

(But Shock at the idea she might eat them herself.)

saoirse Louis still doesn't really drink milk from anything but me, but I'm lucky that the nursery is v close to my work so I plan on popping down to bf him in the day. (Also my work would prefer that to having to find somewhere for me to pump.)

I had an interesting conversation with my hv too this week. Not in the league of whotsits and eggless yorkshires, but it did leave me puzzled.. I was asking about Louis dropping feeds, and routines etc, and she said he only needs two breastfeeds a day now, so long as he's eating plenty of dairy. She also said that he needs a pint a day and that he could get 8oz per feed Confused, so I'm a bit concerned about her maths if nothing else... All the things I read just talk about volumes of milk but I have no idea how much he's drinking.. Can I ask about how many bfs other babies are having? He's having 3 meals a day now, but even so, two bfs a day doesn't seem like enough.

mapletrees · 16/04/2011 21:32

Ooops, must have taken me over an hour to post that, so x-posted with cinnamon and saoirse (I did make dinner, have a friend over for a quick drink and resettle Louis at the same time as posting though Grin)

bananacurry · 16/04/2011 22:00

I gratefully accept chocolate for olly then eat it all save it for when he's having it! I can't be doing with the "you're depriving him" comments so just say thankyou. I did the same with ds1. He doesn't eat enough to get through all he's given. He would but I won't let him! Its not depriving them. Its taking an interest and some control of their diet while you can & not encouraging childhood obesity!

My friends all shot themselves in the foot the other day by saying how they'd given other peoples babies chocolate behind their parents backs cos they like it! That makes me sooooo mad. Not their choice. I won't be leaving my boys with them!

Dixiebell · 16/04/2011 22:17

maple, I'm still BFing Arlo (still doesn't take milk any other way. He's coming up for 28 weeks now, we're only on 2 meals a day solids, and he has 5 BFs a day - early morning, breakfast, lunch, tea, and bedtime. Sleeps 6.30 for 12 hours. So still having the same number of feeds but I would say he seems to be feeding for shorter periods since we established solids, so is either taking on less or feeding much more efficiently! I've been wondering about whether I should reduce the number too but was going in the annabel karmel menu planners which still suggest a feed after each meal plus early morning and bedtime. Also HV told me the other day just to keep on BFing as before. It does sometimes feel like he is feeding or eating all day long!

We bought a jumper today with nectar points we've been collecting for years. Decided to as for the last week the only thing he's wanted to do is BOUNCE. he loves it! Was bouncing happily in it for an hour before I noticed it recommended 20 mins maximum Hmm :)

Dixiebell · 16/04/2011 22:20

Oh and I can't believe anyone thinks it's appropriate to give a 6/7month old chocolate??!! I would think they were joking if anyone got an Easter egg for Arlo.

Dixiebell · 16/04/2011 22:21

Jumperoo not jumper. iPhone predictive text.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/04/2011 23:22

Luke has very recently dropped his mid morning feed most days mapletrees so he has bf 7, breakfast 8, sleep 9.30-10.30/12 (depending on what we are doing), if he has a shorter nap sometimes has a bf at 11, Lunch 1 sleep 1.30-3.30/3-4 (again depending on when he's slept in the morning) bf 4.30, dinner 6-6.30, bf 7-7.30 and bed. Plus for the last 2 weeks he's been up again in the night between 12 and 3 for bf. He really goes for it at the 7 am and 4.30pm feeds though, he feeds much longer than he used to and is really gulping it down so I think he's just condensing his feeds and perhaps not taking much less!

No chatting tonight I'm afraid saoirse86 and nothing to be jealous of! Very grumpy dh because I apparently put him after everything else (translated after I've got all the chores done). So apparently I should go to bed with him then get up and finish my chores afterwards, how romantic. Que a huge arguement, leading to him telling me how hard done by he is, how he doesn't want to leave having sex until he's very tired (at 9.30) but he's not too tired to shout at me until 11 and fall asleep mid sentence which leaves me awake and pissed off and him getting a nice nights sleep thank you very much! I have told him even if he's still grumpy that nothing is going to spoilt ds1's party tomorrow, I've put too much work into it and I can't see him having another one for a while. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow, night all.

saoirse86 · 17/04/2011 17:40

Oh cinnamon I hope it's gone better today. DP and I have similar arguments about sex. He complains that I want to have sex when we've gone to bed and said the other day to me that we'll have sex when we're awake past 10 (it was 10.30 at the time! Hmm ). But then he doesn't want to have daytime sex either in case someone turns up. Make you're bloody mind up.

I did think afterwards that it might be easier to just take the chocolate, but many of these people (MIL, FIL, SIL, my nan and grandad) will be alone with her at times and would take as a green light to feed her shit whenever they can. It was MIL's birthday yesterday and we went for lunch today and she brought up the "chocolate situation" again. Then SIL started asking me when she can have coke! FFS! They drive me mad, but I kept calm. They say things about how they all had chocolate and coke at this age and it didn't harm them, except it did! They're all very overweight and have so many health issues. Both SIL's and MIL have/had PCOS, isn't that related to an unhealthy lifestyle? (that's a genuine question).

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel better now. Smile

SeaChelles · 17/04/2011 18:29

saoirse - no it isnt related to an unhealthy lifestyle (PCOS) I mean. just one of those things im afraid. i have it and i have and have always had a healthy lifestyle. but it does make u put on weight in most cases and periods are hell. Sad I think you should make them eat and drink all the crap they want to give your lovely Orlaith and see if they feel good afterwards!! Wink just keep doing what you are doing and say NO NO NO NO! XX

newmum001 · 17/04/2011 19:20

I personally don't think a little nibble of chocolate on easter sunday is a big deal but it's each to their own and if you don't want your in laws to give Orlaith chocolate, or anything else for that matter then they absolutely souldn't! And suggesting giving her coke is absolutely outrageous!

cinnamon i hope your DS had a lovely party and that you and your dp have managed to sort things out!

bananacurry · 17/04/2011 19:57

PCOS here too! no unhealthy lifestyle either! well. perhaps now but thats the stress of being a mum of 2 Wink

Cinnamon rubbish you had a row. I wish men were a bit more mn type thing friendly & had their own thread. perhaps then they'd see that everyones the same! Hope the party went well.

We've had a lovely day here. been to pets corner sundown adventure land. Our friends who can't have children have their nephew for the weekend so we went with them. It was so nice & I just keep thinking how brave & strong they are cos if anything is going to rub in the fact its spending the day somewhere like that in a parental role with your friends with children Sad

JodeyBogeyPicker · 17/04/2011 21:02

Hey guys. The move is going well. Plan to have everything moved by Saturday which will hopefully be our first over night stay.

As for chocs, my relatives have all bought Harlyn clothes for Easter as he's too young for sugary treats.

Harlyn has started storing finger foods in the roof of his mouth and because of his teeth, he bites big chunks off and ends up having too much in his mouth and gagging on it. I've had to start giving him tiny bits rather than letting him take control as he just shovels it all in before chewing and swallowing what's already in his mouth. He's
loving the organix sweetcorn rings. I think he likes the sound they
make when he bites them. I blended dome of my garlic loaded spag bol for him yesterday and he loved it. It was ace being able to give him what we had.

mapletrees · 17/04/2011 21:09

cinnamon How was your ds1's party? Sounds like you made him a great cake Smile

Glad to hear the move is going well Jodey

banana, that's so tough for your friends. Good that they can still enjoy spending time with the other children in their lives though..

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2011 21:14

The party went really well, thank you everyone for asking, almost everyone came and I didn't get stressed at all! Ds1 was exhausted and got some lovely pressies. Dh said it was one of the best days of his life Grin

mapletrees · 17/04/2011 21:36

That's great cinnamon Grin

comixminx · 18/04/2011 05:45

Hi all, just catching up courtesy of the airport free wifi here in Amsterdam! We're now flying veterans what with having taken Aphra from London City airport to Amsterdam (short hop in a small plane), then Amsterdam to Hong Kong (12 hour flight or so) then back to Amsterdam last night / this morning. We still have another longhaul flight to get us to Brazil today! The little bassinets they clip into the bulkheads are very cunning, and everyone is very kind and helpful. Amsterdam is a great airport for kids too - they have a baby lounge with little pods that contain a crib, two seats, little lights, and just amour enough space to rest for a few hours - all right by a change & feed area. Hong Kong also has been mostly great with a baby - the locals all love babies & stop & coo at her (or even ask for a cuddle!) and there are lots of lifts & ramps & stuff for getting about with a pram. However it's so hot & humid that you need to be careful with dehydration, and it is pretty full of car fumes. Also I got asked not to breastfeed in a shop for the first time ever - apparently people very much tend to bottle feed there. Oh well, I'd finished anyway by then!

Sorry not to comment on everyone else's news - read and inwardly digested though!

bananacurry · 18/04/2011 09:07

Crikey Comixminx you're getting around a bit!

Just backtracking to the easter egg thing. Newmum you're right a bit of chocolate wouldn't do any harm but if everyone who buys my boys easter presents got chocolate we would end up with 22 eggs between them!!!!!

Got another fun filled day ahead. I love this weather. Is anybody doing anything to celebrate the royal wedding? We're going to 100% cheesed up garden party. I can't wait!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2011 11:07

Glad all is going well on your trip comixminx!

Just checking in to say Luke got his 3rd tooth, top left. Changes their faces so much once they come through properly :(

newmum001 · 18/04/2011 12:33

cinnamon i was thinking the same thing this morning, Grace has got 8 teeth now and her face looks loads different! Yay for Luke getting another tooth!

banana i agree 22 eggs is excessive, but then again maybe 2 eggs for ds1, a little nibble for Olly and 20 eggs for you doesn't sound too bad Grin

Why is today such hard work?? Seriously Grace will not sit still but is not steady enough to sit properly yet so i'm constantly hovering and having to change her position/activity every 5 minutes when she gets bored! Off to London on Thursday with my friends and sister to see a band. We're staying overnight and i can not wait to let my hair down a bit. Does that sound bad? I just feel like having a bit of me time is long over due!!

saoirse86 · 18/04/2011 13:27

A friend of ours has PCOS and was struggling to conceive but was told by her consultant to change her lifestyle to make it better. She thought he meant that was what was causing the PCOS, but I guess he just meant it would generally help.

banana I think DP has already demolished 22 eggs! He can't understand why he's had to go out and buy some bigger jeans, something about the washing machine shrinking them. Although strangely it hasn't shrunk mine! Hmm

cinnamon I'm glad yesterday went well Smile

newmum Orlaith's driving me mad today too. I'm trying to get an assignment done but she won't stop shouting and wanting attention. I might try playing madly with her to wear her out.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2011 15:37

My baby can move!!! He can bum shuffle! The children just yelled at me 'look, Luke was over there and now he's over here!'. I'm a bit scared now, Ds1 didn't move at all until a week before he was 1 Shock

31w

newmum001 · 18/04/2011 17:36

aww yay luke!! i might be a bit in denial here but i'm actually really looking forward to grace being able to move! I'm hoping that she'll be able to entertain herself a bit more. I know i'm probably going to be running round after her all day but she's itching to be able to move around and is getting really frustrated that she can't and it's making her very irritable and hard work!

bananacurry · 18/04/2011 18:54

cinnamon thats not fair i'm very Envy ds1 was a bum shuffler its so much cuter than crawling. I was hoping Olly would too but he's looking more like he's going to crawl!

Newmum that doesn't sound bad at all. At least you're going to see a band to do it, I'm going back to work!!!

newmum001 · 18/04/2011 19:25

When are you back at work banana? I must admit i'm a tad jealous. Don't get me wrong i'm pleased i've got extended maternity leave and that i don't have to go back to my old job (cause i hated it) but i really do want to work again. I'm probably saying this all wrong but i want to feel like a human being again not just a mummy!

SeaChelles · 18/04/2011 19:31

Hi all.

Well done Luke! Oliver is on the move too. He goes from a sitting position on to his front to a crawling position but doesn't crawl - he slugs! Grin He's like this little chubby slug shuffling all round the living room! I think its because he can't seem to keep his knees under on the stupid laminate flooring so he's figured its easier to slither around to get to where he wants instead!

He also keeps chasing me round the kitchen in his walker - its like having the dog back! I put him in one corner in it and turn round to do the washing up and its like playing "whats the time Mr Wolf?!" coz i turn round and he's got hold of my pyjama trouser leg!

He had Spinach with Beef and Apple for his tea today and I blinked at missed it! Must have been very tasty!

Been talking to the girl next door today and have hopefully made a new friend, she suggested getting together for a drink at the weekend, she seems really nice and Olly really likes her.

Well the tesco man has been today so the cupboards are no longer bare. Its not that I don't love talking you all...but jam tarts are calling! Cya!

6.5 months (no longer know weeks!! Hmm)
