Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bananacurry · 18/04/2011 20:24

newmum i'm only doing 1 day a week every other week between now & aug. I go back properly in sept!

chelle olly does the same. gets on all 4s then kind of lurches forward!

MammyG · 18/04/2011 22:19

Oh my gosh its all going on!
Cinnamon A mover and groover! What a boy! Phoebe is trying to put her knees under her when she is on her belly but then ends up flopping from exertion and bellowing to be rolled back! She is like Michael Flately at the moment tho with all the leg action any time she gets remotely excited!
Saoirse I often have to remind my mum about a little thing called progress!! As in almost 40 years of it at this stage. Sure she survived and it did her no harm or us apparently but now we know better! I personally think that sugar is the root of all evil. By that I mean all research shows that its since we have mass produced and laced everything with sugar that so many disorders/cancer/weight issues have run riot. (This coming from a woman that is now shaking as Im on day one of no choc!) DS's didnt have anything like that til they were easily one. DS1 will eat any amount of anything sweet but DS2 is easily satisfied and can take it or leave it. I have taken to just looking at people like they are bonkers when they suggest somehting like that and it seems to stop them in their tracks.

All good here. Things really looking up - possibility of not having to sell and things getting a bit better. Also DH on holidays now so have two weeks of help! Yay!

Debs75 · 19/04/2011 09:36

Saoirse I didn't give DD2 chocolate until she was well over 1 year, and then she only had it if I was having some. She would get a tiny taste and she was satisfied with that. It wasn't till she was nearly 2 that she realised that sweets and chocolate were in the local shop. DD1 and DS were 'spoilt' by grandmas shoving chocolate at them every time we saw them. They couldn't wait to give them 'treats' and would call me cruel if I said noConfused

Lucy is trying to crawl, she can get up on her knees but then slides back, even when on her mats. She also pulls herself upto standing when on my knee.

saoirse86 · 19/04/2011 10:53

I can't understand it Debs when people think I'm being cruel. My IL's actually think it's hilarious that I'm trying to get Orlaith used to veg before anything else. They laugh about it infront of me and take the piss, and ask why I don't stop being so mean and "give her what she wants". FWIW if I only gave her what she wanted she'd never eat anything. [hm]

MammyG it sounds like things are looking more positive for you for once. Have a good time while your DH is around!

I've just found out that on the 2 days of my exams my mum and sister are away, and so are DP's parents, which means DP can't be off work as they all work together so I've got no one to look after Orlaith. My mum has suggested they take Orlaith away with them which I know sounds like the most logical answer, especially as it'll give me more sleep (hopefully) and more studying time. But they're going for 4 days and I'll miss her so much. Sad
I kind of wish I was a bit more like you banana and newmum but I have no desire ATM to be anything but a mum, and just want to be with her all the time.

cinnamon how exciting for Luke! Orlaith tries to bum shuffle but just looks like a crazy baby rocking back and forth. And she gets on all fours and either rocks or crawls backwards, still no forward crawling.
SeaChelles We put Orliath in the kitchen in her walker for the first time yesterday, she does go in it but doesn't move as it's on the shagpile type rug in the living room. She thought it was hilarious but was mostly sliding about. So cute! Smile

SeaChelles · 19/04/2011 12:23

Oliver is moonwalking! Grin

He's been sliding around on my fingers for a while now (damn laminate flooring again! grrr!), but today he decided to get a good grip on the floor, though instead of stepping forwards like a normal child he's walking backwards "Jacko styley"! Hahaha....so funny....if only you could see, I was in pleats!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/04/2011 18:00

Luke doesn't get on all fours at all Saoirse86, if he rolls onto his front he just screams and won't try to do anything!

Know what you mean about the leg thing MammyG, Luke drowns ds1 in the bath everyday with his kicking!

You'll have to film it SeaChelles sounds interesting!

No word from FriggFRIGG or JessemyParkson for a while hope you are both ok.

I'm desparately in need of an early night tonight, Luke is waking twice a night again and it's killing me :(

cinnamongreyhound · 19/04/2011 19:37

Ds1 got into the school I wanted him to go to, yay!!!!

bananacurry · 20/04/2011 10:08

Saoirse I couldn't be away from them for 4 days. Ds1 is going away with my parents for 2 nights this weekend and I'm dreading it! Ollys not going. I can manage 1 night at a push but not 2! Its not that I don't want to be with them all the time, its just sanity & finances won't allow it!

Had yet another chocolate comment yesterday, My cousin bought the kids all buttons. milk for the older ones and white for olly. I said he's not having it yet & got "what? not even white?" Whats the difference between milk & white? its still chocolate!

Ollys still not really weight bearing. is anyone else not?

Olly 7 1/2 months!!!!!!!

saoirse86 · 20/04/2011 11:09

cinnamon I've seen frigg around on other boards, although not so much. She's probably busy with chasing after children. Arlo's probably walking by now! Wink And Jessemy is on facebook quite often so hopefully she's ok too.

banana I just don't get why people think white chocolate is better. You should've told your cousin to compare the ingredients. Then maybe they'd realise they're both full of crap!

And I hope you didn't think I meant you didn't want to be with your children, I meant more the actually wanting to be at work again. I really don't want to be at all, I want being a mummy to be my job but Orlaith refuses to pay me for it! Grin
A lot of the reason I don't want to go back to work is because I don't want to go back to working with DP and his parents. I really felt that DP and I working together was bad for our relationship and we talked about work constantly. And his dad is so sexist and ageist in a kind of passive way. He also hates that I understand things first time and insists on telling me things over and over in the same conversation.
I really hated working for him in particular, but now it's got worse. When I was working there I was supposed to be paid £7ph from 10-4 but usually worked 9-5.30 so it worked out as less than £5ph and they refused to let me go early or be paid for the hours I did. Now the man who replaced me (but does far less work than I did - I know from being there doing the books) is being paid £8ph for the whole time he's there. Shock I'm due to go back in the end of June but I think I'm going to have to tell them I'm not going back. I'll still do their books (that pays £150 a month, only takes a few hours and no one else gets involved) and maybe just go back to working in the pub which I really enjoyed. It's just a really awkward conversation quitting when your boss is your DP and I've been putting it off for ages. Sad

Sorry for the huge whingey post Blush

SeaChelles · 20/04/2011 11:41

I can feel a tooth coming through! just starting to poke its way out at the bottom! Grin

newmum001 · 20/04/2011 12:05

i also don't get the difference between white and milk/dark chocolate. To be honest i've never heard anyone compare them but seen it mentioned on here a few times that ppl seem to think white is better for babies. Thinking about it though DP's auntie bought grace white chocolate buttons the other day. I let her have one cause i knew she wouldn't actually eat it as everything she gets hold of recently gets thrown straight onto the floor!

Chelle - yay about the tooth!

Has anyone else noticed a difference since the babies hit 7 months? Grace has never been a sit and play kind of girl, she's always needed entertaining but she's a bit more content to be by herself a bit more this week but she is reaching out for EVERYTHING! She saw me open a cupboard door in the kitchen on monday which she must have seen me do hundreds of times but she was amazed by it and now gets the giddy shakes everytime i do it. She's trying really hard to crawl today but gets really frustrated before she manages to do it and just lies there crying instead!

banana grace can hold her weight if i stand her up but not for long and she's not really interested in doing it and just kind of buckles.

saoirse86 · 20/04/2011 12:34

I forgot I was going to tell you this, I have to tell someone....

So on monday night DP and I had a bit of, ahem, playtime, and we'd left our, ahem, toys out by the bed.

Now no one ever goes in our room, but yesterday my sister went in to get her LO to sleep for a bit, and my MIL and SIL went in to measure the window for the curtains or something. I didn't think about it until later that they all must have seen what was there and said nothing! Shock

Debs75 · 20/04/2011 13:41

Newmum taste them all and see. Dark high cocoa is the best as there is less fat and sugar and you need less to get a chocolate fix. Milk is more palatable as more fat is there and it does taste nicer. White is sweeter and there is less cocoa so you need more for a choc fix. I think most people give babies white as they see it as cleanerHmm

Saoirse you naughty girlGrin

cinnamongreyhound · 20/04/2011 14:12

I really think you should sit down and talk to your dp soon Saoirse86, I also don't see how you can work for him if it's a family business surely you are part of it as the mother of his child and partner? I may be out of line here but I would be looking at is as discussing from the business point of view and what is better for the business and if you want to go back and can get more done in 6 hours than the other guy for 8 hours then £8 would be better for you and better for the business. Lol at your other story!

I always thought it because it's milder Debs75, but it's worse for you as you say because it has more sugar and fat! It isn't real chocolate imo and it's annoying as several people have bought Luke chocolate and it's white which I don't like so I can't eat it :(

Getting teeth is so exciting SeaChelles, although I'm not quite sure why! Yay for Olly Grin

Luke has been grabbing everything for ages newmum001 and has been very contented since he could sit up so I haven't noticed a huge difference since he turned 7 months, except that he has mostly dropped on feed a day.

bananacurry · 20/04/2011 15:12

Saoirse OMG how funny, I'm wetting myself, need to work on that pelvic floor! I'm sorry but thats just the kind of thing that you just pray NEVER happens!

I didn't think you meant that although I do feel guilty that it seems like that so perhaps am a bit defensive if people say anything! Grin I'd tell them I wasn't going back. Use the relationship with your dh as a reason. That way saves upsetting the in laws!!

I'm sat enjoying the sun with Olly. Ds1 is nextdoor. Its great. I can hear him but I don't have to be on duty!

Cinnamon I'm gutted that everyone buys white too. I hate it. I think its the clean thing too that make people thing its ok for babies.

Still no teeth here but I can feel definate lumps under the gum and there's some frantic ear rubbing. Reckon it'll be any day!

patito · 20/04/2011 17:00

DS has been playing with computer and now none of the demands work,

so ill just have to shout at you all

SAOIRSE Thats so funny, does your DP realise his mother saw them Grin. On the other point, sounds quite tricky and better get it out in the open sooner rather than later. Doesn't sound at all fair that you were paid less.

We're off tonight for the easter break, stop over at a friends we haven't seen in a while and then off to PILS for the weekend. Nothing v. exciting, but I am hoping to send MIL off to shops with DS to get him some summer sandals Grin.

Hope you all have a lovely easter break.

OMG. Have just realised whats happened to my computer, I changed the commands to English today, but the keyboard is Spanish so they dont match. And there I was blaming DS Blush,

FriggFRIGG · 20/04/2011 17:11

comixminx · 20/04/2011 23:07

Good story saoirse! Heh heh. Once I had my oldest friend from school visiting when I had been single for quite a while - she helped me make my bed and lurking under the covers was a toy of that same sort! We looked at each other and cracked up!

Re your work: I agree that the pay situation especially seems really unfair. Also I think working together so closely and your DP being your boss sounds difficult and possibly not for the best - I agree with what cinnamon says about discussing what's best for the family. It sounds like you're being treated a bit like hired help, and not very fairly at that.

mapletrees · 21/04/2011 18:01

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin saoirse

Had a really lovely day with Louis today. He's been in such a good mood, really chilled out and smiley Smile. It's been a really welcome contrast as he's really not been himself for the last few days - waking up and just bawling his eyes out several times a night, and very tearful during the days Sad. Made leaving him at the nursery Tues and Weds even harder. Everyone I saw kept saying "he's teething", and I was thinking that might be it, but there are still no teeth, so who knows. I'm just glad he's feeling better Smile Oh and it turns out he likes curry, and loves cheese on toast Grin

And DP's off work now 'til 3rd May [bugrin] [bugrin]

cinnamongreyhound · 21/04/2011 19:01

[busmile] just because I have seen them!! Poor Louis mapletrees [busad]

I am fed up of all the parents of my childminded children buying MY children eggs!!!! What about me?!?!?!? I'm the one who looks after their children after all!! Was the same at Christmas too [busad] [buenvy] [buangry]. Feel better now [bugrin]

bananacurry · 21/04/2011 19:24

Oooh! Cinnamon loving the [bugrin]

Had a great day at work! I got there and was handed a list of visits! A bit of everything, dressings, injections, legs, bloods & I managed everything! I was very proud of myself! The boys had a great time at my mils. Olly woke up literally as I got there & actually put his arms out to me. He's never done that! Ds1 on the other hand cried & paddied and told me to go away! At least I know he's happy there!

1 of the girls well, women, gave me 2 of her daughters dresses that don't fit her anymore! They're fab and 1 is perfect for my cousins wedding in sept!

Cinnamon grrrrrr at those parents! I'm sure your boys won't be able to eat all that chocolate tho. You'll just have to help them!

Just popping on to say see you after the weekend.

We are travelling upto Cumbria today for a long weekend to Centreparcs[busmile]
Just last minute packing now and hoping this threat of rain will hold off for a few more days.
See you all Tuesday

FriggFRIGG · 22/04/2011 09:07

[buenvy] of all of you who's OH's get time off,we'll just have sunday as usual, not even a proper weekend.can you tell im bitter?[bugrin]

soo, last saturady,DPwent to london for a course he was doing,he'd been gone half an hour when DD decides to climb up onto the worktop, lean over the fridge, open the medicine cabinet, take out the calpol, sneak up to her bedroom....and down the entire bottle!!!

i found her covered in calpol,COVERED!
cue panic...for some reason,i thought cleaning her up was the most important thing, once she wasnt covered in pink sticky sweet stuff,(she continued to lick it off herself whenever i wasnt looking!) i called grandpa, for a lift, and whilst i waited for him,i phoned A&E,they told me she'd be blue lighted....however when we got there,we had to 45mins to be seen, then told we'd be be taken up to childrens ward for observation in 10mins.....3HRS LATER and up we go....bloods taken....5HRS LATER results, shes fine but where an OD would normaly show up as 0 hers was 40!!! Still apparently no need to treat her so 9HRS after we arrived,we go home

in this time,we we're offered nothing no food, water, nothing,i had to take sky out of the ward with arlo and go to the shop,to buy a drink and some cruddy junk food for us (very limited selection!)

whilst i was there i ended up looking after a baby with broncilitus (the nuses asked me Confused because his mother and father and nanny had all gone home for 'a rest' Hmm

so now we all have a nasty cold and i have lost my voice...ARRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!

Im totally knackerd.

and grumpy.

sorry about the rant!! [bugrin]

on the up,Arlo got this first tooth through!
is crawling really fast!
and is crusing well and wobbly walking,he takes a step or two and falls dramatically [bugrin] [bugrin] [bugrin]

right,off to catch up....no more moaning...promise! [bublush]

saoirse86 · 22/04/2011 11:11

OH MY GOD frigg!!!!! How scary. And the hospital sounds really bad. I can't believe they didn't even offer you water! And asking you to look after a stranger's baby?! [bushock] I wonder what the parents would have to say about a stranger being in charge of their baby! The nurse doesn't know that you're not a nutter! [buwink]

My DP is off today, sunday (as usual) and doing 11-3 on Monday so not really a whole weekend for us either. Dixie what does your DH do that he's not usually at home?

cinnamon that is annoying!

banana I'm glad the day at work went well! [busmile]

patito When I realised they'd been there I came straight down and told DP and I couldn't stop laughing while he got more and more grumpy, so I laughed more.... [bugrin] I'm hoping there's a possibility they didn't realise what they were as they're not the, ahem, rabbit type toys and MIL is 65 so may not have ever come accross them (no pun intended) and SIL is gay so may not use these types, if any. My sister would know what they were though. [bublush] Oh god, I'm cringing inside all over again just thinking about it!
