Newmum - Oliver loves the sky remote too!

We've also had a couple of bumped heads - one when he decided he was going to sit up all by himself in his cot Hmm and another when he was sat up playing, as he is constantly in crawl mode now and has started literally hurling himself forward to get on his hands and knees!

All Oliver wants to do is stand up. Thats it. He isn't happy for more than two minutes unless he's holding on to your fingers and bouncing up and down...and up and down.....and up and....you get the picture! Am exhausted! lol. But he's doing so well, am very proud and impressed with him.

Good sleep still a'hoy here. He's been doing from 7pm to 7am or thereabouts for a week or so now. Long may it continue....although am still doubtful!

Food going well too. Got some turkey mince to try tonight and he loves beef and chicken. Jelly went down a treat as did the roast potato he stole off Nana's plate yesterday!

Someone was asking about poo's??? Olivers are almost always solid now - with the odd runnier one!

Lots going on here at the min - no furniture in the living room at the minute until new stuff comes on Weds - we did have all glass furniture - but with Olly up and about we felt it was a little unsafe so have replaced with Pine. Also trying to get the bombsite of a garden done so that we can start playing out there soon! And I'm still trying to find a job! Grrrrrr....nothing out there!

Love to all.

Oliver - 26+1 (6 months 2 days!! Argh! Scary!)

Debs75 · 28/03/2011 15:42

I give Lucy greek yogurt. I don't like all the ingredients in 'baby' yogurts or fromage frais. I tend to mix it with crushed fruit. She loves it when she can be bothered to eat.

Still not getting big sleeps on a night so very impressed with mapletrees 7 hours

lumpybananapuree · 28/03/2011 16:10

Mapletrees Was that 7 hours??? Didn't quite get you! Grin

Just come back from seeing my Grandma. She appeared drugged up. She isn't, but she's just so frail & weak now that she hardly even has the energy to talk. Its horrible seeing her like that Sad, I just want to scoop her up & take her home. She adores the boys tho and it was lovely to see her face as Olly was sat next to her on the bed playing with her hand!

Cinnamon I hope you didn't let on to ofsted that you put drugs in lukes yoghurt!! Grin

Right going to go and attempt to make some parsnip soup & a spag bol!

Dixiebell · 28/03/2011 17:45

Hmm. I stood in front of the yoghurt section in Sainsbury's for ages trying to find a plain full fat yoghurt that didn't say probiotic but couldn't. Maybe will just get Greek then.

Arlo has his own remote control to chew play with as no matter how many toys are around, as soon as he sees the Sky remote, he makes a dive for it!

Arlo 25 weeks today

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2011 19:36

Yeah usually keep the drugs to myself lumpybananapuree!!

Come on then FriggFRIGG, tell us about your mum.

Good for Louis mapletrees, be careful whenyoure out and about just seen the story about those women being attacked onthe local news.

I think the remote is a universal thing to chew, ours has teeth marks from ds1 and Luke loves it too. We don't have sky :( due to trees behind our house blocking the signal.

A friend of mine has a little girl who's 2 days older than Luke who sounds like Oliver SeaChelles, boing boing boing all day!! I'm going to mind her 2 days a week from September so thinking I'm going to have my hands full, be like having twins!!

Any of you have meaningful tatoos? I'm thinking of having something related to the boys. Thought I might have their dates of birth inside something but I saw a lovely tattoo a lady had of different size stars joined together by twirly bits to represent her family. I'm soooooo unartistic but I want it to be very personal so don't want to just pick something off a wall!

28weeks

lumpybananapuree · 28/03/2011 20:07

ollys not really taking any weight at all on his legs. Should I start worrying???

SeaChelles · 28/03/2011 20:38

lumpy - can't advise there! He's been bouncing since he popped out!! But I shouldnt think you need to worry just yet huni - is still early days! xx

mellymooks · 28/03/2011 22:20

Second frigg on the Rachel's organic yogs they are great and very tasty, not that I ever steal food from my children Wink

Hello frigg waving to you!!

My DD skipped terrible two's and waited until she hit three and became a three-nager, very similar to the terrible twos yet they know lots more words and have a much greater understanding of many things...............

Our weird fever's have gone thankfully and we're feeling much better now thanks for all the get wells.

Flynn finally ate something tonight!! I was feeling very defeated as I've tried him on lots of things to no avail, then tonight I had made a cheese sauce for our bake and was lazily tasting some left in the saucepan and thought I'll just see if he'll taste some off my finger and he scoffed it down and I kept doing it and he ate loads!! Hooray, so relieved I just want to fill him up a bit and hope he may actually sleep for longer, I really need to sleep more soon or I am seriously going to crack.

Must get to bed now night everyone x

mellymooks · 28/03/2011 22:20

P.S. frigg what's going on?

FriggFRIGG · 28/03/2011 22:38

oh just my mother...being her darling self....she likes to let me down every chance she gets.why offer i mean seriously why offer unless you will actually DO it?!!
im very seriously considering cutting contact.

Arlos still crawling manicaly and trying to pull himself up to no avail as yet Grin
DD seems to be a bit more normal again though Grin

oh and greek is fine and super yummy-- too!!

watersprite · 28/03/2011 23:07

lumpybananapuree Maria-Ann usually has 3 naps during the day, 1 hour and 2 half hrs.

SkaterGrrrrl welcome back :)

Maria-Ann is more or less back to her usual self "NOT SLEEPING" at night, I'm so shattered can't even concentrate anymore :( I so wished I didn't moan about her sleeping 8 hrs one night then up the next, sort of think I've jinxed it and would love her just to go back to that pattern.

DD1 is being a nightmare at the moment always answering back and rolling her eyes at us. Really think I need Nanny 911 or supernanny but even they would have a challenge on there hands Hmm since she's turned 8 her behaviour has got really out of hand the mood swings are off the scale, I've been down the route of grounding, taking all previlages away and letting her earn them back , sticker charts, time out, rewarding good behaviour. I'm literally pulling my hair out or should I say it's actually falling out Shock. Does anyone have other children that are of similar age as dd1 and could advise me down the right route? also I have noticed that her boobs have started to grow and was wondering if her period would follow, really hoping not I as i still see her as our baby if that make sence and i didn't start my till I was 14, my sister 10 Shock. This might explain the mood changes in her though.

watersprite · 28/03/2011 23:08

I do moan on Blush

lumpybananapuree · 29/03/2011 09:13

Watersprite I have no experience of 8 year old girls apart from being one -23 13 years ago! But it does sound feasable that it could be the beginning of puberty even if her period doesn't follow. My MIL is convinced that anything ds1 does wrong is a delayed reaction to Olly being born its not, he's just 2 but could it be a bit of that with your dd? and bloody hell, student nurse, 6 month old AND 8 year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That hats off again! Grin

FriggFRIGG sorry things aren't good with your mum.

saoirse86 · 29/03/2011 12:01

I am so tired Orlaith woke every hour last night crying as though something horrible was happening and boiling hot. I ended up taking her sleeping bag and her vest off and got her into our bed with no duvet on her and she still made a massive sweat patch on the bed. Sad
She went for a nap 20 mins ago and when I put her down she stopped breathing twice, admittedly only for maybe 7 or 8 seconds but it felt pretty scary after last night. Sad Sad Sad
She's awake now, must go.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/03/2011 13:17

What another beautiful day!!!!!

I would say it depends if he choses not to take weight on his legs or can't lumpybananapuree. Both my boys have loved standing from a very young age, Luke drives me mad with it, although he doesn't bounce just wants to stand!

I was wearing a bra from 8 and started my periods at 9 watersprite but I don't remember stroppiness coming with it, although I made up for it from about 11! It sounds like you are doing the right things just need to wait for her to realise she won't get her own way no matter how horrible she is. My dss is 9 but I think he is bizarrely very well behaved, I think a lot comes from having a lot of responsibility when he's with his mum so perhaps you could let her take more responsibility and trust her to do something (that you don't mind if it doesn't go quite right) herself. Was only saying this morning how mature he is but when he's with us he plays with ds1 at his level a lot of the time but is way too grown up in other ways but a really lovely boy. I have to say that I think girls are a bit harder at that age because they are excerting thier independance while I think it comes later with boys.

So sorry saoirse86 :( :( hope you catch up on some sleep and Orlaith is feeling better, take her to the dr if her temp doesn't come down soon and get some calpol and ibuprofen in her.

Another quiet day, only one other than mine and she is asleep now, ds1 is at school and Luke's asleep. Got a few more quiet minutes before my next minded little girl arrives got dairy milk and Brew and loose women Grin

I'm very sad and looked at natural yoghurt on the sainsbury's website and you are right dixiebell they were all probiotic!!!

SeaChelles · 29/03/2011 13:28

Turkey mince with tinned tomatoes and mash....sounds disgusting - but it was a winner!! Grin

Sausages and beans tonight! Grin

mapletrees · 29/03/2011 13:41

Well, as expected Louis was back to normal last night. Oh well.... [resigned emoticon]

Sorry you had an even worse night saoirse Sad. Have you taken her temperature? - If it's over 38, and it doesn't come down with some calpol, then you should probably take her to the dr and get her checked out...

watersprite Sorry, I don't have any advice either, but you have my sympathy. I'm desperately hoping that Louis takes after DP, who was apparently an angel-child, when he's older, and not me, who was "a little sod". Grin

I can't remember who was asking about naps. Louis used to take 2-4 of 30mins-1.5hrs (total of about 2.5hrs) a day, but for some reason for about a week he's been refusing to sleep even nearly that much. I've only just managed to get him to drop off just now, and I have a feeling he'll be awake again after 30 mins or so..

mapletrees · 29/03/2011 13:42

sorry, x-posts cinnamon - he wasn't quite as asleep as I thought..

Debs75 · 29/03/2011 14:26

Lucy tried to drop her naps over the weekend but luckily it was just a blip and yesterday she had 2 hours plus and today 90mins. she is whinging now so is probably tired again.

Watersprite How do you cope with being a student nurse as well as mum?
Seriously, I am hoping to train as a MW when Lucy turns 3 but still not sure how to fit in a 3yr old, 5yr old, 14yr old and 17yr old.

watersprite · 29/03/2011 17:10

lumpybananapuree Thanks Grin maybe it's like you said this could be the start of puberty Shock I remember when I started and I was no angel, hoping when she does start her periods there nothing like mine with the massive mood swings, how my mother put up with me!!!! Blush maybe it's pay back time! she could also be adjusting to having a baby sister and not having all the attention directed at her. I will try giving her more resonsibility cinnamongreyhound and she how she gets on with that Wink Debs75 I seriously have no idea how I manage at times, I sort of just mingle on. I've started realising that it's going to be much harder then i thought going back to Uni and being on long shifts with Maria-Ann who doesn't sleep at night but there again she may be sleeping by then, fingers and toes crossed Wink you would be amazed at the the mum's I've talked to who have under 1 year olds and other children who all manage on the nursing and midwifery courses, I used to think the same thing "how do they manage" but some how you just do Smile

saoirse86 really hope Orlaith is feeling much better soon and you get the chance to catch up on sleep :)

Well last night took dd1 to church as she is doing her Holy Communion in July and last night it was reconciliation (confessing sins) she was the only child that was up there the longest Hmm

Today i was suppose to be taking my nan to hospital at 2pm as over the weekend she was having really bad pain in her knee and the GP thought it may be a blood clot, however got a phone call early this morning and she had fallen in the kitchen, her head and face were badly swollen so been sat in A/E for over 4 hrs. She ended up having a CT scan and her knee x-rayed and both were clear so that's a relief! we still managed the 2pm appointment and her knee is clear too so she can stop having the blood thinner injections Grin which she is very pleased about! Really hoping for a good nights sleep tonight! one can wish Hmm

lumpybananapuree · 29/03/2011 19:25

Accident filled day here! Ds1 bumped his head on a stone table causing a good bump, I sliced into my finger cutting an onion & had to go nextdoor and get her to see to it cos I went all funny! and then, lesson to anyone who puts a bumbo on the kitchen, Olly fell backwards off the table in his. Luckily a chair stopped him & I was close enough to catch him. he was oblivious to anything happening but the thought of what could've happened made me feel sick. We have a tile floor & it would have been his head that got the full force! Shock

watersprite you're right. You just cope. Glad everythings ok with your nan but awful that she had a fall!
